I really do appreciate Rick and Morty getting positive attention because the passion and artistry that goes into the show is obviously a labor of love, but I can’t help but feel a little sad whenever I see someone say, ‘Wait, when did Rick and Morty get good?!’

It’s ALWAYS been good! There has always been depth to the characters. There have always been clever lines and lessons along the way. The point was never just cartoon nihilism or a justification for shitty behavior. It’s always been more than sci-fi toilet humor.

Don’t get me wrong, there are parts I also find tedious. I just wish people would really give the early series a chance before denouncing it.

I find it so cute that Rick will remember the smallest, most random details from Morty and still claim he doesn't care, like sure buddy, I always remember small, random details about people I don't care about

Like he canonically knows that Morty loves inception

That Morty loves the Sherk movies

when Morty wants to ask Rick something without Morty even saying anything

"*Sigh* Yes, Morty?"

Knows that Morty is a visual learner

"I know, you're a visual learner"

And knows that Morty is afraid of spiders (I mean, that wasn't his greatest fear, but still)

Whenever I see someone calling another show "Rick and Morty for queer people" or "Rick and Morty for girls," I'm like...yeah, I can tell that you haven't actually watched Rick and Morty.

The first one really irks me because if they watched past season one, they'd see that bi/pan is the default in this universe, even for one-off and background characters.

The second one is a little trickier because it does have two male leads, but Beth and Summer are strong women, the writers add more female characters (Space Beth and Bird Daughter), Beth and Rick crave Summer's approval, and seasons six and seven beat you over the head with the fact that Rick only respects his female relatives, plus Dr. Wong.

Not that he doesn't love Morty and Jerry, but Beth, Space Beth, Diane, Summer and Dr. Wong are on another level. He even tells Summer that outright.

But eh...I'm probably wasting my breath because anyone who gave up after the first season would think that I'm clinging to "wokeness" that isn't there.

Ok we as a society do not talk enough about how Morty just shot rick in season3 episode1 to save summer. Except it wasn’t even to save summer.

Sure, that’s why Morty was so upset in the first place, thats why he raised the gun at all. But his breaking point wasn’t having summer call him an idiot, it wasn’t having the rick from the council call him stupid, it was RICK calling him stupid, and then having all of them belittle him at once? Imagine your sister and TWO versions of your grandfather just start screaming about how stupid you are. Morty prime genuinely snapped and shot Rick. For a moment there, I think we can see what would happen if Morty chose to become Evil Morty. If the gun had been real, what Morty would’ve done.

“Who’s stupid now, bitch?!”

No remorse at all. He was protecting his sister, and he was defending himself because he had hit his final straw; rick already bullying him, abandoning his family, and the moment he comes back he’s belittling morty again.

Morty prime is different from other Mortys in his violence and his willingness to stand up to rick, like in “Ricklantis Mixup” where the other Rick and Morty come in, and the mprty is super obedient and just like how we see morty in season one. And the other Rick tells Rick C-137 to ‘Reel in his Morty’. Morty prime is legit built different and it’s going to lead somewhere.

He’s not going to rebel like Evil Morty, but he is not going to be pushed to the side like every other Morty. I just think it’s so interesting how this morty is so quick to let anger take hold of him…. Like someone else we know..,. Like Rick Prime.

Anyway this may be me rambling about theories, or this may be me inspiring myself for another fanfic. I just thought Morty shooting Rick with no remorse was super interesting and i think we should talk abt it more. That’s all !!! Byeeeee
