The title Nightmare on Elm Street makes sense because it's about an evil guy from Elm Street that haunts your nightmares.
The title Halloween makes sense because it takes place on Halloween night.
The title Friday the 13th makes no goddamn sense.
What does the dead son of some camp lady have to do with the unluckiest day of the year? Friday the 13th sounds like it should be about a bunch of kids getting killed by Rube Goldberg/Final Destination shenanigans after breaking mirror, walking under ladders, opening umbrellas insides etc. It doesn't even take place on Friday the 13th! I guess Mrs. Voorhees killed the original camp counselors on Friday, June 13th in 1958, but the main plot of the movie is set on the 21st anniversary in 1979 when June 13th was a WEDNESDAY! They could have set it in 1975 or 1980 but no, they couldn't be bothered to look at a calendar.
That would be like if Halloween was set in May at the end of the school year but they kept the title because Michael Myers killed his family on Halloween in the opening scene.
