Come home to me

The keys rattle in Evan’s hand as he unlocks the front door, the first thing he notices is that the lights are off. He looks around wearily because he swore y/n said she’d be home, though it looked as if she hadn’t been.

It was a long work day, table reads and wardrobe fittings took up the most of his day, from five in the morning until mid evening.

He remembers their phone call where she’d said that going out wasn’t her plan for the day since she ran errands all of yesterday.

He knew she didn’t have class because it was Saturday, maybe she was getting takeout? But they went grocery shopping yesterday.

He sighed, kicking off his shoes after locking the door behind him. He begins to unlock his phone when he hears soft music down the dark hallway.

He doesn’t even bother turning on any of the living room or kitchen lights while he makes his way towards their shared bedroom. With his hand on the knob, his ears perk up once he hears ZAYN playing from behind the door with y/n’s voice singing along- he can’t help but stall his movements to listen.

“Whyy? Why wait to fiiighttt? Give it a tryyy or I’ll say goodbye while it’s rightttt…” y/n drags out causing Evan to chuckle lightly.

She doesn’t notice him when he walks in and it all clicks in his head as he notices that she’s engulfed in homework. She’s got her headphones in and he realizes that she’s probably been at it for a while now, not even realizing the time.

He stands behind her and bites back a smile as he reaches for her ponytail and tugs on it causing y/n to let out a yelp and snap her head up in his direction.

“You piece of shit!” She yells as he doubles forward in laughter.

“I didn’t know there was going to be a concert tonight.” He says in a teasing tone, earning a glare in response. “Baby, I’m sorry! I had to!!” He defends as she stands up and punches his bicep.

“You scared me!” She whines while she hides her face into her hands. Evan snorts out before pulling her into his chest as she huffs out, looking up at him with tired eyes. “I didn’t even realize how late it got."

Evan yawns and kisses the top of her head, combing his fingers through her hair as he smiles down at her small frame. “When I walked in it was all dark, I got worried, thinking that you weren’t home or something.” he shrugged.

Y/n nods “Sorry” she chuckles. “How was your day?” She asks before resting her head against his chest, running her hands against the muscles of his back causing him to hum in appreciation.

“Long as hell” he groans. “You?”

“Long” y/n agrees. Evan nods and his grip tightens around her while his lips press against her forehead. “How about we go to bed, huh?”

“Absolutely.” Evan muses, throwing y/n over his shoulder making her gasp loudly before tossing her onto the bed playfully. A loud "oof”coming from her lips as she laughs in surprise.

“Are we sleeping or…” she questions, watching him peel off his t-shirt.
