First impression: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Tumblr media
Sooooooooo yeah. This is an interesting anime in itself. A few years ago I started to watch it but quickly lost interest, after getting some merch from Akibento for this anime I decided to pick it up again and give it another shot. Evidently I never made it to the second episode, though in reality the third and fourth episodes are what really drew me into it. Now I wont reveal what actually happened to draw me in, but its pretty plot relevant.
Anyway, carrying on through the rest of the episodes I wanted to continue watching, but it honestly wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. I don't actually like Haruhi at all, but I quickly came to realize that the show wasn't really about her, it was about the lives of everyone else, which is what kept me watching (and what made the movie so good.) I still wanted to know what the story was and learn more about the other characters. I enjoyed the episodes, the randomness, and when the story suddenly stopped at the end of the second season (about 14 ep for both seasons) I was thoroughly confused and upset. That is, until the movie.
Tumblr media
Ok, so this movie was actually very, very good. It does involve a concept that I have seen before, and one that I have a lot of opinions about. However, it was well carried out, I loved the story, the journey that the main character followed, it was just really well done. And things ended up playing out in a way that I was not ecpecting, and that were very different from other typical anime stories. Ahhhrg, its really hard to describe and explain without spoilers. So I will include my full, spoiler filled review later when I've thought of it more.
Basically the tv series is alright, very slice of life, a good break to take from more intense anime, and not plot heavy. The anime itself I wouldn't particularly recommend to anyone. If you wanna check out an unusual anime, or really love slice of life then yeah I would recommend this. Otherwise, there are better slice of life out there with a more consistent plot.
Although I would recommend the movie it is so good. But, you can only watch the movie if you have seen the tv series because it involves an understanding of the characters and the past events. I don't think anyone who watches the movie without the tv series would understand much of whats going on. Its very dependent on the tv series.
That being said would I recommend the tv series? not really.
Would I recommend the movie? Yes, BUT you need to watch the series.
Is it worth watching the series in order to watch the movie? Well, honestly I'm not sure. If you don't like the slice of life dramas then no, don't waste your time. If you do, or are curious, or are more accepting of anime and like me tend to want to finish whatever I start, then yes. I think you will like it a lot.
Oh btw. If you do intend on watching it, make sure you watch it in this order below. It's the chronological order and the order I wished I had watched it in. If you don't, you will miss a few episodes, and will get very confused about the order of things. Also if by the time you watch the movie and haven't seen the 'Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody' episode make sure you do so.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya part 1 The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya part 2 The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya part 3 The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya part 4 The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya part 5 The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya part 6 The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody Mysterique Sign Remote Island Syndrome part 1 Remote Island Syndrome part 2 Endless Eight Endless Eight Endless Eight Endless Eight Endless Eight Endless Eight Endless Eight Endless Eight The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya part 1 The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya part 2 The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya part 3 The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya part 4 The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya part 5 The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Live Alive The Day of Sagittarius Someday in the rain
Movie: The Disapearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (its a 2 hour 40 minute movie so make sure to either pace yourself or set aside some time for watching)
animegg.org has the episodes in the right order, so go there first. I watched the series somewhere else which were ordered in the original air order, which was not chronological. (most other places are incorrect too, even the DVDs...)
Its important to say that some episodes from season two actually belong chronologically in season one... So yeah, be careful. (honestly I skipped the majority of Endless Eight, if you watch it you will know why. and dont worry , you wont be missing anything just make sure you watch the first and last one's at least.)
wow so many side notes on this post.

2016 Monthly Watches and Top Picks
An amalgamation of links to my personal watches and top picks, that being said there are a lot of anime I have not watched. If there is an anime that you think I should watch, recommend it to me in my Suggestions page or in the respective comments sections of my posts.
NOTE: I do not have any monthly watches or top picks from January to April, because I started this site in May of this year.
Links To My Monthly Watches (New links will be added soon)
My Monthly Top Picks
May Top Pick
Tokyo Ghoul
Tumblr media
Only a few minutes before my 21st birthday I finished this series. Which means that I was an emotional wreck crying out ‘he knew!!’ while also being super excited to go out and buy my first drink; a Bloody Mary, approximately 17 minutes after officially being 21. Anyway, Tokyo Ghoul is so good. I loved it because it did not follow the path I expected it to, every event and conclusion ended up surprising me but in a good way! Without spoiling too much or going into a full review, the main character never became a ‘Mary Sue’ and the way it ended was not typical in the least. I have so many things to say but they all contain spoilers, anyway I’m glad I wasn’t deterred from the anime because one of my friends said he didn’t like the manga because of his assumption about the character. Dude, you were way off, I haven’t read the manga, but the anime is so different and so amazing. 5 out of 5 would recommend!
June Top Pick
Blue Exorcist Movie
Tumblr media
The movie has nothing to do with the plot of the anime at all, and takes place after the events in the series. Atleast I’m fairly certain it does? There’s an important (and spoiler-y) thing that happens at the end of the series, that is never addressed or acknowledged in the movie which I think is really weird….. Either way, the movie itself is simply a completely stand alone story from the series. And it was absolutely stunning! Sooooo much detail went into all of the backgrounds and items. On top of that its very well scripted, and the plot flowed incredibly well together without being convoluted, which is surprising since a number of movie sequels to tv series’s tend to go overboard by stuffing too much information into an hour and a half.
It was amazing. Its possible that someone could watch the movie without watching the single season anime, just because of how it was written. However you would not know the relationships or the back story of the main character, which helps to explain a lot of the terminology and setting. Especially the part about demons ect ect.
Either way, I LOVED this movie. I didn’t even know that there was a movie at all until just now. I’m going to re-watch it with a friend when she gets back into town and I am soooooo excited because I KNOW she will love it too. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. I RECOMMEND THIS SO HARD.
July Top Pick
Haikyuu!!
Tumblr media
I have boarded the sports anime train, and I don't think I'm ever getting off. This is the fifth sports anime I'm watching and I think it may be my favourite. It's funny too because I only recently started watching sports anime when I watched Free! last December.
This anime is fabulous! I know I say that a lot, but it is so true! Haikyuu!! is about Hinata who joins his high school Volley ball team. The rest of the show is about the developing relationships between the team, the development of their characters and skills, and their relationships between the teams they play against as they try to make it to the Nationals.
I love so much about this anime, every character is different, has their own reasons for playing, their own personalities, their own skills, and their own developmental journey. The characters are amazing!! On top of all that the animation is great, they animate the games incredibly well, and whenever someone does something that's particularly fast or strong they do a fabulous job of showing it through the art style and movements. Ah, I could watch this show for days, well, more days than I already have. (Click the image to view the gif, cause for some reason it won't automatically play...)
Look at the smooth animation!!
Tumblr media
Speaking of the art style, It's different than whats common in anime, feeling a little more like a manga, but that's what makes it so great. The style allows them to make fabulous faces/expressions and movements. and Oh man the faces are great, I LOVE an anime that's able to use such a variety of expressions on so many different characters. Look at these faces!
Tumblr media
Its such a feel good anime, its so light-hearted, and bright, and funny, and intense! There are only two season out right now, but the third season is to air this fall! I'm so excited!! so, So, SO excited!!! AAAHHHHHH~
This is a must watch. It doesn't matter what genre of anime you like, everyone should give this one a chance.
August Top Pick
Hyouka
Tumblr media
So the first thing i need to mention is that this show is first and foremost a slcie of life that happens to include a lot of mystery. Not a mystery that happens to be a slice of life. I originally thought it was the latter which was why I was disappointed that it didn't end the series with a mystery arc, but instead the way a slice of life would. When you acknowledge the show for what it really is, a natural slice of life, it is amazing. For numerous reasons.
First the artwork is so incredibly detailed and beautiful. Second the visuals are distinctly different for each thing ti tries to convey, and completely succeeds in doing so. The audio is amazing, the music is beautiful, the animation is so smooth and they even animate things that aren't necessary to the plot but are animated anyway to make it all feel so REAL. Not to mention the episodes and mysteries are so well written!
look at the incredible amount of detail they put into EVERY SINGLE SCENE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
even when the background is blurred even people who we never learn about or see again have details in their clothes, faces, and expressions. I checked, we NEVER see these people below actually interact with the main OR minor cast.
Tumblr media
I almost forgot, this show is about Houtarou a high schooler that sees the world in 'gray'and whose motto is "If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I have to do it, I'll make it quick." Convinced by his already graduated sister, he joins the classics club which was endangered to be disbanded because there were no more members. He meets a girl named Eru who also joins the club and discovers that he has a knack for solving mysteries. That is, only when Eru earnestly goes to him and yearns for him to solve the mystery because her curiosity cannot be contained. From there they quickly discover that the classics club has a past shrouded in mystery.
Its incredibly well done, I love slow the pacing myself, because it fits the flow and nature of the anime. However I do have a number of issues with it myself (some reveal content spoilers so I won't state those here).  I admit that the way they ordered large mystery arch and single episode mysteries was not handled well at the very end. Don't get me wrong the ending fit the characters incredibly well and was very good and realistic, however considering the quality of the larger mysteries that were prevalent through the rest of the anime, I feel that they should have ended the series with a multi-episode arc and then one final single episode arc, rather than many single episode arcs strung together.  The anime was an adaptation of a light novel, which covered 4 out of the 5 published novels. I've taken a look at the titles of the chapters and it seems that the 5th book is quite the elaborate story. One I would have liked to have seen in the anime, though would clearly have gone over the 22 episodes the anime ended at. Perhaps since this write up for the episode is already so long, I will create a post just about this anime. It definitely deserves more talking about!
Anyway, I do recommend it to veteran-ed anime watchers. It has a wonderful pace that does not push by quickly, great character development and insight, and fascinating mysteries and dialogue regarding such. Its perfect for anyone who loves natural slice of life. Those who enjoy mysteries would also enjoy this, as long as they understand that it is mostly a slice of life, and thus will follow the format of slice of life and not the format of a mystery anime. Its a stunning anime.
September Top Pick
Natsume's Book of Friends
Tumblr media
This is an incredibly adorable show. Its heartwarming and has a 'feel good' movie feel to it. If anything taking into account the art style and how good it makes you feel it reminds me a lot of Fruits Basket. Don't get me wrong, its nothing like Fruits Basket in terms of story, but its got the same 'feel'.... if that makes sense.
Anyway, the premise is that Natsume is the only one able to see yokai (Japanese monsters/spirits/gods). After moving into a new town with some distant relatives, Natsume finds out that is deceased grandmother could also see yokai and made quite the reputation among them. She would take the names of local yokai and put it into a book called the book of friends, with their names she could control the yokai. Now yokai are coming after Natsume either to ask him to return their names or to take the book of friends for themselves.
The majority of the show is about Natsume steadily coming to understand both humans and yokai more clearly than he has before. Making friends, learning about the lives of others, learning about his grandmother, and finding out what it really means to be apart of a family and not be ostracized by others because of his ability.
This show is wonderful, its not as gripping or super emotion/action driven as some other shows are, but its very well done. The character are great, the stories are so heartwarming, and it breaks a number of the stereotypical cliches that are often found with anime about a character who can see something that others cannot. An example that I particularly love is how other characters who come into the mix who are also able to see yokai are not automatically 'evil' or an antagonist. So rather than causing mroe trouble for Natsume from the 'get go' they are actually there to help develop him into a better character. Which I love~ Any actual antagonist that shows up are antagonists for a real reason, rather than just for the purpose of having one.
If your into exorcism anime or anime that focuses on traditional Japanese monsters/spirits/gods you will love this one. It is slower paced and focuses more on story than action so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that there are only 4 season out right now as of this post. Season 5 will be coming out with this falls simulcasts and I'm super excited for it

THIS ABRIDGED IS EXCELLENT. Seriously, It's absolutely hilarious. I first watched it before watching the actual anime, it was funny then, but after watching the anime, it was infinitely better. Its got great jokes, witty remarks, one liners and pokes fun at so many characters in the best way possible. Its by far the BEST abridged iv'e seen. Its too bad that the second episode was never released, being that the series is on an indefinite hiatus back in 2014 as they explained at the end of this video at about 3 minutes and 30 seconds. In reality we may never see another episode, but regardless, this video is a must watch.

Octopimp's 50% Off (click to be take to ep 1)’
Tumblr media
This is a full on parody series of Free!!, an excellent swimming anime. This series has excellent voice acting, and each of the characters are given hilarious personas, especially Haru and Nagisa. Oh man, I LOVE this Nagisa. The series is hilarious, raunchy, and has great writing. Whats more is that its still ongoing in full stride!! I love it. It's actually because of the parody that I got into the anime itself (which btw, is really good.)

What I'm Watching May 2016
Hi! So this post will be consistently updated and feature only completed anime(ie non-simulcast anime, I have a list of simulcasts I am watching already provided). Whenever I update it I will add the date in the title, change the featured photo, and add the anime at the very top of the post~ So yeah, a good way to know what kind of things i'm currently doing.
Attack on Titan Addendum 5/31
Tumblr media
So episode 10 actually surprised me, I did not think it would go in that direction. In fact, after that episode the anime got much less predictable, which is great. Don't get me wrong, there were still some moments that were very obvious, but I found myself not knowing what was gonna happen next very often. Especially toward the end, and oh man did it drag me further into the anime. It was great, I really really enjoyed it. And now I can enjoy Attack on Titan Abridged! (the real reason I wanted to watch this, haha)
5/29 Attack on Titan I did it, I finally did it. Its been huge in the anime world for 3 years now, I got tired of seeing it on my netflix and finally started watching Attack on Titan. I JUST finished episode 8, and every single event, aspect, backstory, everything I have successfully predicted. Now I will add that aside from the very first episode, I had no idea what was gonna happen next. I stayed away from spoilers like the plague on this one cause I knew I had to eventually watch it. Despite the fact that it is so far nothing new whatsoever, I'm really liking it so far. Like REALLY enjoying myself and the anime. I stayed away from it for so long because I didn't want to get caught up in the hype and be disappointed, I tell you I'm not disappointed. Though to be fair, I did wait three years after the initial hype and went into it expecting it to not live up to my expectations. I think that was the right decision. Well I still have 17 more episodes to go, and plenty of room for it to surprise (or not surprise) me.
oh and btw, MIKASA'S A BAMF! hot damn, I wish I was Eren, wait, no. I take that back, I do NOT want to be Eren, just in his position. waaaaait, no, no, not that either. Yeah no, I do not want to live in their world. yikes.
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya 5/26
Tumblr media
Ok so remember when I said I was watching the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? haha of course you do that was only yesterday. Well the episodes have a weird order and were not aired in chronological order (which means I didnt watch it chronologically, i'll make a post of this later) but also that there was a movie that followed the end of the second season and HOLY CRAP THE MOVIE MADE THE FREAKING ANIME. I was not expecting that at all.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 5/25 I just started watching The Melancholoy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I started watching it a few years ago but dropped it for whatever reason (lost interest.) It's always been relatively highly ranked (an 8 out of 10 on My Anime List (which if you've been to the site you will know that very few anime get anywhere over 9 out of 10) for example the highest ranked anime is Gintama at 9.3 followed by FMA: Brotherhood at 9.26, even Spirited away is only an 8.9 so anything that's at least an 8 is pretty dang good), so I figured why not give it another chance? Especially since my Akibento for this month came with a lot of stuff from that anime, and I dont want it to go to waste(especially considering I didn't even want this months crate because I wasn't interested in the preview but was charged and sent it anyway despite the fact that I only signed up for a one time crate last month..... If anyone wants any of May's merch just let me know. I think I might be making a post about it soon. hmmmm....)
Strawberry Panic! 5/23
Tumblr media
Right now I'm actually re-watching an anime I once watched back when I was in I think middle school, Strawberry Panic! An adorable tale of a girls finding love at their all girls boarding school. I have had this anime in my mind for years, constantly thinking about it but never remembering what on earth it was called, and barely remembering anything else about it for that matter! It's not a fantastic anime by any means, but it is adorable and rather down to earth. There are no super annoying characters or unrealistic situations and events, like what is common in so many school anime (especially the newer ones). That's why I like this so much, its 'soft' romance and school life. Ahhh, I'm so happy to be watching it again. In fact, I am watching episode 12 as I am writing this!!
Noragami 5/21
Tumblr media
I just finished watching the second season of Noragami, Noragami Aragoto. While it was very good, the plot, the characters, the writing, it wasn't quite as wonderful as the first season. Aragoto has two story lines that follow one after another, where as the first season focused on one story line, which was just so emotional and exciting and I had such a hard tome pretending I wasn't watching it while work, hahaha..... Don't get me wrong though, this definitely is not an anime that suffered from the second season like some, in fact it provided a lot or origins, backstory, and important character development necessary for the third season!! Which should be on its way, especially considering the huge info drop at the end of Aragoto. If you've seen season one, Aragoto is definitely a must watch~
Tokyo Ghoul 5/16 TOP PICK FOR THIS MONTH
Tumblr media
Only a few minutes before my 21st birthday I finished this series. Which means that I was an emotional wreck crying out 'he knew!!' while also being super excited to go out and buy my first drink; a Bloody Mary, approximately 17 minutes after officially being 21. Anyway, Tokyo Ghoul is so good. I loved it because it did not follow the path I expected it to, every event and conclusion ended up surprising me but in a good way! Without spoiling too much or going into a full review, the main character never became a 'Mary Sue' and the way it ended was not typical in the least. I have so many things to say but they all contain spoilers, anyway I'm glad I wasn't deterred from the anime because one of my friends said he didn't like the manga because of his assumption about the character. Dude, you were way off, I haven't read the manga, but the anime is so different and so amazing. 5 out of 5 would recommend!

Spring Simulcasts of 2016
Very simple, a list of currently simulcasting anime that I am watching, and how much I recommend them~
Assassination Classroom
Tumblr media
I recommend the HELL out of this anime!! It's a must see for anyone and everyone. The show officially ended this spring with two full seasons (season one at 22 episodes and season two at 25). Wow, was it amazing.
A mysterious government made creature blows up the moon and threatens to destroy the earth one year from now. His only request to stop his from reaping havoc is to teach a third year middle school class. His wish is granted, and the students of the class are charged by the government to try to assassinate him before they graduate the next spring.
It already sounds ridiculous, and I was really surprised about what was going when one of my friends showed me the first episode. But this is really well done. The creature, named Koro-sensei turns out to be incredibly good at teaching, and while the students are being taught ways to assassinate him, they also learn from Koro-Sensei and their fellow classmates important life lessons and personal growth.
The show is hilarious, and despite having over 20 characters, the show is able to give each character a unique personality and personal development. Its the best large-cast anime I have ever seen.
I don't really have too much in way of faults either. The show is able to balance the serious alongside the humor of the situation. Occasionally crazy events would happen that would seen way out of place in any other anime. But because the situation with Koro-Sensei is so strange already, in the end, nothing feels out of place.  Even character that I hated, I grew to love as I watched them grow and learn.
The only problem I have, is that the dub is terrible. Koro-Sensei and the main character Nagisa, who occasionally does narrations because we watch everything unfold through his eyes, have terrible dubs. Koro-Sensei, while already sounding goofy in Japanese, sounds even more ridiculous in English. At least in the Japanese version Koro-Sensei actually sounds menacing when he's supposed to be, not to much in the English dub. And the voice actor for Nagisa sounds like he's try to hard to voice him, and just sounds too disingenuous.
Great anime, I would recomend this to anyone,  just don't watch it dubbed.
Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto
Tumblr media
A perfect parody of the typical 'cool guy' archetype, a must watch~ Its about this high school boy named Sakamoto (if you haven't guessed) who is the epitome of 'cool' and everything he does is stylish, that's how they describe it in the show. Its a great slightly exaggerated natural slice of life. There really is nothign more to say about this show than the fact that I highly recommend this. It is fabulous, if you do nothing else, watch the first episode!
Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3
Tumblr media
Season three was great! they finally introduced Uranus and Mercury who I always wanted to more of in the original run.
If you weren't already aware, Sailor Moon Crystal is a re-boot of the original 90's series made to exclusively follow the manga. Where the 90's series was full of filler content with very few plot pertinent episodes. It made itself more available to children than to the young adult demographic that the manga originally was.
That being said Sailor Moon Crystal is much more serious and surprisingly dark. Here we get to see exactly what everyone's past is and learn more about the the villains themselves. It is incredibly well done, each season tackling a different story arch.
The third season introduced a new villain Master Pharaoh 90 as well as the Professor who, unlike in the 90's series, is his underling. The professor has a significantly different story, including the significance of who his daughter is to the sailor scouts.
I would recommend you give Crystal a  shot, especially if you grew up watching the 90's version like I did. I love Sailor Moon, it holds a very special place in my heart, and being able to see the canonical story is amazing.
Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World
Tumblr media
A very good anime, main character Subaru suddenly finds himself mysteriously transported to another world, finds himself in a few sticky situations, and manages to make new friends in the process. While trying to help the girl who saved him find her stolen insignia we learn a little more about the world we and Subaru were so rudely dropped into, and about a mysterious power that surrounds Subaru's sudden summoning to the new world.
So far it is incredibly good, the main character is really likable and you get to watch him start to change as a person as well and many different sides to the other characters around him. I won't say too much as I believe it would be spoiling a little bit of the anime, but it is definitely one you should give a shot.
This anime will be extending into the summer simulcasts as a full 25 episode season rather than the typical 12 episodes. So I will reserve the rest of my judgment in my Summer Simulcast list when it has finished!
Bungo Stray Dogs
Tumblr media
This show is great. It has magical abilities, detective work, mafia, and LOTS of dark comedy. I love it! Its like a vague mix of Sherlock and Charlotte, but at times darker. The season is extending into the summer being released as a full season of episodes rather than those dumb 12 episode half seasons. So with that said, I will finish my opinion when it has ended. But for now, I highly recommend watching it!!!
Flying Witch
Tumblr media
This one is super cute. It is a slice of life about a young witch who moves in with her cousins family in the country to further her witch training. Here we follow her daily life as a low-key witch.
There is no over arching plot to this anime, and while it is a slice of life its very laid back and fun. Being able to see a new aspect of the witch community is a very realistic way. The best part is that the familiars don't talk! I can't begin to say how annoying it is when an anime character is given an animal side-kick with an annoying personality AND an annoying voice.  The familiars is this show are wonderful and given realistic and charming personalities. They are able to communicate with the witches, but not through a human language. The familiars understand English but speak their natural language as an animal and only the witches are able to understand through it.
If you want a cute anime to relax with, this is the one for you.
Bakuon!!
Tumblr media
Bakuon!! is a comedy slice of life school anime about an all female high school's motorcycle club. Here we follow the lives of the students as they gain more members, watch the newbies learn to drive and purchase their own bike, and follow their adventures. It is absolutely hilarious and simply pure fun.
Unfortunately there isn't much more for me to say about, being a slice of life without a story arch. If you love the genre, definitely give this one a go, you will love it.
Twin Star Exorcists
Tumblr media
This anime is just weird. I have a soft spot for exorcist shows but this one is sort of all over the place. It is extending into the summer simulcasts with a full season. It starts out as being about two young exorcists in training who are revealed as the 'twin star exorcists'. A legendary pair of exorcists who are destined to bring a miko into the world who will defeat the 'demons' they fight. It very quickly became a fighting, exorcist, drama, romance, action anime, which is a weird combination of genres. I'm not sure how I feel about this anime either. I supposed I'm rather 'in the middle' with this one, it's not good, it's not bad, but I want to keep watching it. It's still amusing, just so far not something I would openly recommend to anyone... I'll give my final opinion after its finished airing.
Joker Game
Tumblr media
This show is about a secret spy organization that was created in Japan between the first and second world wars, and follows the tasks of various spies. Its a well done series, but because I was watching it as a simulcast and because by episode 8, almost every episode worked as a stand alone. So because of that, I wasn't highly anticipating the next episode at the end of every week. I do intend to continue watching this. especially now that all the spring simulcasts I've been watching are over. Though it may be a while until I continue it again.
Tonkatsu DJ Agetaro
Tumblr media
This is an... interesting one. At about 10 minutes to each episode, its more of a carton in the american sense than it is an anime in the more common sense... if you get what I mean. It's a very stylized story about a boy who works at his families Tonkatsu house and becomes a DJ. It's relatively well done, but just isn't my kind of show. Personally I lost interest fairly early and stopped watching it, but I know of a few people who really enjoy it. It's not bad, just not my thing.
The Lost Village
Tumblr media
The lost village starts off following a bus load of people who want to leave their current lives and start anew in a mysterious isolated village where no one from the modern society can find them. It's an interesting anime apart of the horror genre the first episode seemed really good, but it gets tiring quickly. Especially since every single episode after the first seems to end on incredibly enormous cliff hangers. Its hard to pin point why it was disappointing as  the episodes went on, perhaps its because so much happens in every episode, or the majority of the characters are not very likable, or the fact that every single character has a hard/traumatizing back story, and there are 37 characters! Not to mention that they tend to gang up on each other, do crazy things and occasionally follow the mob mentality.
In the end I lost interest and stopped watching it, maybe I'll finish the episodes in the future? Probably not though. It just got very tiresome and I'm sick of the forced tension caused by the endless cliffhangers...
Anne-Happy
Tumblr media
This show is just moe upon moe. Its a slice of life following five incredibly unlucky girls as they attend high school. If fact they are so unlucky that the highschool has a designated "happiness class" for about 30 or so unlucky students, where in addition to taking regular classes, they take special classes in order to make the students less unlucky and be able to find happiness despite their luck. Its very cute, and I watched most of it, however I was mostly watching it with my friend, and since we are so behind on our anime we decided to finish all the spring simulcasts on our own so we can get started with a couple summer ones. It's not a bad anime, just too much moe, and no real plot.
