The video opens up. It shows Murk and Pelip sneaking into an abandoned Dorm, they flick on the lights and head towards the kitchen area.

'' This is going to be the worst idea we've ever had, Murk. ''

'' Oh i know! ''

The two move away the cobwebs around the inactive oven, Murk going behind the dusty oven in order to plug in the cable for the Oven.

Murk pokes their head out, ruffling their head in order to remove any dust that had stuck to their Purple feathers.

Pelip sighs, Twisting the oven knob and watching as a small flame appears before they twist it again and turn it off..

Alright looks like the Oven's working.. Shall we get started?

Yes! Now.. where's the bread..

Murk rummages around the room, Opening dusty cabinets with their beak. Theres the sound of talons against the table as Murk finds an old loaf of bread, which they take two of the pieces of bread and bring it back over to the Camera.

Alright got the bread, now does this dorm have a toaster?

'Fraid not, Murk. We're doing this with the pans..

... Fuck.

Murk approaches the already set up pan, Pelip having already cleaned it out while Murk had rummaged for the Bread. Murk then places the pieces of bread onto the pan.

Guess its time to start, Huh?

Yep...

Pelip turns on the oven, mind you, these are birds, Pelip has no idea how an oven Works besides turning it on and off. So the temperature is just WAY too high already.

Murk turns the breads over after a minute, flinching at just how BLACK the toast is.

Uhh, Pelip, can you turn the knob back slightly? i think it burnt..

Yeah sure..

Pelip turns back the knob slightly.

It does not work. Both sides are burnt. This is not edible. Pelip just turns off the oven. They have failed.

Well, i guess we just- SHOULDNT be cooking should we?

Self indulgent Jimmy & Martyn & Netty Evo insanity thoughts sorry

I'm not usually into big grand storylines to explain away the connections of multiple SMPs, especially watchers, I care very little for them, but I can't stop thinking about what happened after Evo... Why was Jimmy so alone for so long afterward... where did Martyn and Netty go, and what took so long for Martyn to come back, and why didn't Netty...

Can't help but think about Martyn taking up responsibility. Of him being Jimmy's first friend, of them knowing each other when they were little wee kids. And then finding a creature in the woods (Netty). How Jimmy and Pearl were spared from whatever happened right after Evo and went on to be part of other Worlds shortly afterward. How Jimmy largely had no one - had to fend for himself, and told himself he could do it. And in the end of Legacy and X Life he died all alone. How much he must have missed Netty and Martyn and the stability they brought

Can't help thinking about where Martyn was and why he acted the way he did towards Jimmy in 3rd Life. Why he accused him of not caring for Property Police anymore, how he proclaimed they weren't "friends like that" anymore. Yet evidently he still felt some of that self-assigned responsibility to be the caretaker, evidently he still cares so much about Jimmy. What if he's thinking "why did I have to go through that, and not you?" (even though I never wanted you to), "you don't know what it was like, you don't know what I had to go through" (akin to the way Martyn also votes for Jimmy to stay in Southlands in Last Life even after making a big show of how Jimmy should be exiled). Whatever it was, that happened after Evo, that also seems to have just fucking taken people like Netty away from them, he doesn't want to tell Jimmy, for Jimmy's own good, because he cares about him. It can't be helped that Martyn sometimes treats him poorly or says insensitive things, it's for Jimmy's own good, even as Martyn has no one to talk to about it. He thinks things to have been unfair and they WERE unfair. He took on the role of caretaker, and he's not in the wrong to feel frustrated. Jimmy doesn't know how hard it was for Martyn, and Martyn doesn't know how hard it was for Jimmy. How much Jimmy waited for him, how much he needs Martyn right now. How much he needed Martyn when Martyn set the ground between them on fire, declaring his chance to have passed. How much he wanted to prove himself to be capable so Martyn could be proud when he returned

How Jimmy would always retain dwindling hope each new world even after 3L that Netty would be fine too, and come back. Martyn had, Martyn was there, but their early Evo trio is incomplete. If Netty returned, surely they'd be able to go back to how things were and Martyn could be happy too. But with the way Martyn treated him, would Jimmy, at any dwelling of the thought that Netty could still be out there, think that maybe Netty wouldn't want to see him again? Hasn't wanted to for a reason?

So, to the extremely limited extent I still care, the question THE ACOLYTE raises is, "Were the Jedi ever actually cool?" The prequels and THE CLONE WARS make clear that by the time of the Clone Wars, they're in pretty grim shape as an order: morally bankrupt, willfully oblivious, self-deluded zealots whose determination to leverage their apparently diminishing power (which even for masters doesn't seem to rise much above the level of parlor tricks) to maintain their privileged political position eventually precipitates their transformation from poor diplomats and inept cops into incompetent military officers, leading a cadre of child soldiers and an army of manufactured slaves in a war that probably wouldn't have happened at all if the Jedi Council's go-to response to any crisis weren't "self-defeating coverup." Yoda and Obi-Wan, who in the original movies come across as wise and basically kindly, if conflicted and somewhat manipulative, emerge in the prequels, TCW, and the awful OBI-WAN KENOBI show as truly contemptible — Yoda a cackling war criminal, Obi-Wan a dupe and a coward — while the sequels and THE MANDALORIAN emphasize that Luke Skywalker's determination to repeat the exact same mistakes almost immediately plunges the galaxy back into fascism. As Hal Holbrook says in ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

THE ACOLYTE is set a century before that, but it goes out of its way to present the Jedi Order in exactly the same ways: kidnapping children; a culture of emotional abuse in the name of religious and martial discipline; a focus on really incompetent police work; constant coverups and political ass-covering; and really very little personal/supernatural power in the context of the general level of technology. The Jedi are not wise, they're not clever, they're not competent, and it's hard to see what they're good for except maybe as a symbol to people who've never actually encountered them.

In a franchise more complex and grown-up than STAR WARS is usually willing to be, that might be interesting, and the books and comics have occasionally grappled with these points with somewhat more nuance, but the onscreen canon since 1999 has been pretty emphatic that the Jedi are a blight on the galaxy. It's hard not to come away from this stuff feeling like everyone else would be better off if there were no Force-users of any kind, which I assume is not the intent. It's like if all canon Marvel and DC superhero characters were like the "heroes" of THE BOYS or BRATPACK all the time.

Called Bestest Boy Ever where players are all different kinds of dogs that have to impress their owner with feats of Love and Bravery and Loyalty, but the setting is a Dog Movie which means you'll probably die in the saddest way possible. Last dog standing is the Bestest Boy Ever.

anyway world where buck stays in the coma for wayyy longer after the lightning strike, and everyone eventually has to go back to their own lives but the two people that are still Stuck There are maddie and eddie. eddie can sit in the room with buck now but still can't bring himself to look or talk to him, can't stop thinking it's the same as talking to shannon's grave. so maddie sits with him and drinks terrible hospital coffee and they talk to each other, half-heartedly joke that if buck feels left out then he'll just have to wake up and join them.

Some writers/producers/directors have such obvious personal beef with certain characters, and it’s both hilarious and infuriating. Hilarious because of how pathetic it is, but infuriating because of how shitty they treat and talk about the character.
