One of two box dioramas I completed this weekend. I've always liked some of the more abstract and stylized illustrations that adorned album covers of the 50s, especially those designed by S. Neil Fujita and Jim Flora. This whole scene was based around the idea that the abstract figures seen on those album covers were actually photographs.
Everything is scratchbuilt, including the Ampex 300 and 350 tape machines. If there's too much excitement going on in your life then punching all of those tiny holes in in the soundproofing tiles is actually a pretty great cure for that. The band was made from styrene that I cut into shape and glued together.
