Online Music Collaboration

When it comes to creating music, there’s almost always going to be some form of collaboration. As a recording engineer for a local studio in Baton Rouge, LA, as well as playing different roles in a few bands, I have learned that music collaboration is not only amazingly fun but exceedingly educational too. I have learned quite a bit on what to do and what not to do in many different writing, recording, engineering and producing situations.

Whether you’re in a band and collaborating with band-mates or a solo artist collaborating with other songwriters. There are also lyricists, producers and engineers to collaborate with as well. Unless you are a solo artist, writing all the music and lyrics, producing, recording, engineering and marketing all by yourself, there’s always going to some form of collaboration when it comes to making and distributing music.

Online music collaboration has taken the world by storm. In the past, if you wanted to collaborate with others to make music, it required being able to actually meet someone in person which you both shared appeasing musical ideas and vision. You would also need to find a space to accommodate the two or three or however many people made up your project. With online music collaboration sites and services such as Ohm Studio and Avid Marketplace, You can simply create a profile, create your idea and find others to collaborate with.

As you all know, I too have an idea of a new, exciting website for online music collaboration, MusikMatch. If you have not read the blog I wrote about MusikMatch yet, I advise you to take a gander. It is quite similar to the concepts that Ohm Studio and Avid Marketplace have, yet, there are a few things that they leave to be desired in which MusikMatch takes care of for its users. This is still an idea that is in its infancy, however I am currently working my way through a finance course at Full Sail University in order to educate myself further in making this idea become a fully functional entity!
