Beast Fables - Wyverns, Gryphons and other Avian Chimera Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the big worldbuilding focus of this month! Wyverns, Griffons and other Avian Chimera, for my Beast Fables setting.
Context: Beast Fables is my worldbuilding project, where everyone on land is some form of werebeast, while merfolk are the denizens of the seas and oceans. In the context of Beast fables, Chimeras are basically the temporary forms of animals that also have the Gift of Transformation as Werefolk do, usually involving borrowing traits from OTHER animals.
Birds have a multitude of chimeric morphs, the most famous are the universal Wyvern, a form all birds can transform into, and the Griffon, an iconic morph emblazoned in various segments of Werefolk culture.

I got myself a set of QOR watercolours and did a little test painting using them and I’m in love. It’s like seeing colour for the first time. The way these paints just flow is incredible. It’s such a joy to use them that going back to my usual colours feels impossible now haha! I cursed myself
Find me and my art elsewhere!

Was out walking by a canal last weekend, there was someone walking by with 4 dogs (only one was on a lead) and this swan hissed at them, so it's my hero and I had to take some photos to draw it

My life got spared by this swan. It could have been ended right on the spot, but I found mercy, an attribute to God himself, and I feel now in peace with myself. This swan checked me out, checked that I didn't have foodstuffs, that I wasn't foodstuff (at least not that day), and left. You will not believe it, but I got spared, in spite of offering nothing but my annoying presence. Nature is wonderful.

Hey folks! Today was a good birding day! Although I didn't get to see a lot of new birds, what I did see was quite up close (didn't need to use my binocs <3). It's a waterbird edition today!

In order from left to right:
Row 1. Barnacle Goose, Mute Swan, Nēnē
Row 2. Greylag Goose, Tufted Duck, Eurasian Coot
Row 3. Tufted Duck + Common Pochard, Common Shelduck, a Leucistic Gadwall.
Some of these birds are captive but the rest are local to the area! Although I don't have much to say in general, the animals were somewhat more aggressive here towards each other in particular. I saw the Barnacle Geese attack the Greylags which are like... nearly a 3rd bigger than them... the Mute Swan was also quite bitey for humans. I have a feeling the effects of humans feeding them may have something to do with that..
