Substance 2023 - Day 2

The second day of LA-based independent music fest Substance was packed - with sizzling synthesizers, dark danceable beats, and LOTS of goths. Perhaps too many, for the size of the Globe Theater venue. The night sold out and with good reason - electronic powerhouse acts TR/ST, Void Vision, Buzz Kull, Male Tears, and more made for a stacked lineup. While it wasn’t possible to see every artist due to simultaneous set times, there were no bad decisions. Whichever stage one chose to attend was bound to deliver a tasty morsel of the currently thriving darkwave scene.

MVTANT - Electronic Body Horror

I happened to see MVTANT back at the Substance 2022 festival. It was after Jesus and Mary Chain finished their set on the main stage, so I decided to explore the other stages in the Los Angeles Theater. There Joseph Anger was in the mezzanine stage, and I was mesmerized. I wanted to stay longer, but Kanga was scheduled to play downstairs in the ballroom. A really shitty cellphone pic of MVTANT…

PC World - Infinite Dream Weapon - always on the lookout for new music that sounds like Cabaret Voltaire's "imperial period" - I don't find much, but this fits the bill

DKA is proud to offer a new cassette from EBM duo PC WORLD. Three new tracks that foreshadow the upcoming full length "Tomorrow's Dream" and a digital remix from MVTANT.
