something about the way neil and the boys act around mr perry makes me view him as more of a drill sargent than anything. everyone immediately stands upon him entering the room. they dont sit until given permission. it rly puts the whole military school thing into perspective but NOT ENOUGH TO SATISFY ME. as much as i hate mr perry, i wanna know what his life was like growing up. this man lived thru the great depression AND wwii, theres stories.

the fact that i totally thought knox was gonna fall off his bike and eat shit in this scene. it would be so out of place since dps isn't exactly full of physical comedy but GOD i still fully anticipated it. either that or him getting attacked by a bird. theres totally symbolism surrounding birds in this movie btw and idk what to make of it. if any of u lovely ppl have a theory then lmk immediately.

THE SPECIFICS OF THIS SHOT. i was gonna make a post a while ago being like "idk i find it funny that the main focus of this shot isnt even one of the poets" and then i realised that WAITTTTTTT THATS THE POINT!!!! keating reached kids besides the poets!!! u didnt have to be in the dead poets society to be affected by the way he taught his classes!!! u just had to be his student!!!!! also i love the fact that the kids who stayed seated r ASHAMED. EMBARRASSED.

the ending shot. oihghgghgg. it was SUCH a choice to set it up this way and honestly i adore peter for making it. this shot is SOOOO UNCOMFORTABLE TO LOOK AT and i love it. when i first watched this i was like "uhm ok interesting choice putting todd between this kids legs but I GET IT. one of the biggest things i remember from the film classes i took is that the way u set up shots is sooo important narratively, and one way to rly push the narrative is the space around a character in a shot. for example! if u have a character on screen surrounded by a TON of negative space then it rly emphasises how alone/ isolated they are. on the other end of the spectrum (the todd spectrum), if you surround a character in a shot with other objects or obstructions, like todd and this kids legs, then it rly emphasises how trapped and confined they are. looking at this makes me feel like. claustrophobic almost, like it's genuinely a bit harder to breathe looking at it. TODD IS STILL TRAPPED IN THAT SCHOOL. YES HE STOOD ON THE DESK AND YES HE NOW HAS THE MOTIVATION TO BE MORE CONFIDENT BC OF NEIL BUT HE! IS STILL! TRAPPED THERE!

i was also gonna add that we dont rly talk about todd personality wise outside of poetry and anxiety but then i realised, what else is there? we dont really see much about him as a person outside of that, and i think thats the point! todd is constantly overshadowed by his brother, we know that, but i dont think we realise HOW MUCH that ties in with his entire character. quite honestly, outside of poetry and anxiety, ALL we have surrounding todd is his brother and his achievements. and of course! that makes sense! his parents want him to be just like his brother, they dont care about who he is as a person. UGH.

the desk set scene rly is the most insight we'll get into todds actual personality and desires imo, and thats what kills me. he wants a car!!!! get this boy a car!!!!!!!!! we rly see him start to open up before neils death and i wouldve LOVED to get to know todd when he's actually in a place to be himself!! but of course we never got that! sobs.

Okay someone stop me if yall know this already but. i did see someone wondering about it (in relation to another, cooler theory). Those still images in Undercover

these. ive seen people trying to match the stills to each prisoner (i believe ive seen several folks attribute this one to haruka)

i haven't quite cracked the code on it but i found something while rewatching undercover in 1080p60 as one does

reflected in the quick shots of the prisoners is part of the still image (with haruka here it is the same as what i have copied up above, seeming to confirm that this still belongs to him)

this is going to get long due to the images but let's try and spot the matches

Yuno's is also fairly evident already- it's this shot of a girl on a balcony

fuuta's is a little harder, but between existing speculation and what i'm pretty sure are hands in this image im going to call it this still

muu's also seems clear- pretty sure those are desks in the reflection and only one still has multiple desks

shidou's is hard because this bastard (affectionate) has his reflection all on the white background but i think i see some kind of pen or scalpel (something with a long and narrow handle) and that seems to match

...this one. which is also the most terrifying one so far, thanks shidou i hate it.

never mind shidou being hard to determine my sweet daughter mahiru is completely incomprehensible (which is also how i feel about her normally). the only thing i think i see is a somewhat spiky shadow in the corner. she's maybe this one?

pokemon presents straight up bitch slapping the entire fandom omg. honestly as much as i love unova, legends Z-A is a pleasant surprise after seeing nothing but ILCA chibi edits for the past week! Ive seen a lot of predictions saying this game will take place in the future, and while i do think thats a definite possibility, im not quite sure. "urban redevelopment" absolutely sounds too modern to be far enough in the past to touch directly on the 3000 year old hole in the lore. but the paper schematics of lumiose suggest maybe a 1900s time-period? so something slightly more modern than legends arceus which was 17-1800s focused. for my own crack pot theory: if they were to do a future game i think it would be extremely interesting if the "redevelopment" plan was because this game is post-apocalyptic in nature. esp if the nature of this darker future is rainbow rocket related. with someone like lysandre in charge, city revitalization sounds right up his alley with his history in public development with the holo-casters. completely unrealistic but an extremely fun idea. if im gonna make a real theory id need more info

either way. im glad theyre continuing with the legends series. as much as i was hoping for medieval american cowboys, i think kalos deserved a revisit over unova with where we are lore wise. dont stop keeping us on our toes nintendo <3

thinking of house of leaves at work again and im at the chapter where they start the "official" exploration. these people are dumb. the troperrific quality of the documentary is getting more blatant. three supposedly experienced men went headfirst into a disorienting maze of a house and they didnt even bring a compass until karen points it out. their expedition is doomed. the book spelled it out for us. not even a step and they already fought over rights to own the place.

there is a supernatural phenomenon and their first thought is to conquer it and put a name on it as if its an empty depopulated piece of land ready for harvest and development. its a criticism of some of the unsavory tendencies of the men's field of work and interest. photojournalism and nature exploration. profiting off tragedies and conflict from around the world, being hailed as a brave voice of the voiceless to capture some conflict in the third world, when theyre actually just providing photos for people in the imperial core to gawk at and feel guilt over without questioning if their government had a hand on it happening, further fueling a white saviorist complex and poverty tourism. meanwhile in the case of nature exploration, getting awards and grants and speaking opportunities to explore places that are labeled as exotic and unknown, erasing the indigenous populations who have lived there for generations and maybe even help them explore. the minotaur's gonna kill them.

im sorry, i kinda got off tangent here.

and, there might be a touch criticism on gender too? because we saw karen on her own little sidequest relying on mystical knowledge and superstition on feng shui and she was the one who points out the compass thing and was implied to left the house for good (or to disappear in the house?) before it could actually harm her, and by extension, her kids. so far, she's the one with the rational take on everything. but the way she goes about it, im afraid the author might have went the road of mystifying women's knowledge and insight to prove that karen is better than all the three men in how she reacts.

and there's also a little bit of passage about karen's explorations. is this referring to her affair or did she secretly traversed the maze without navidson noticing?

and another bit that supports my crack theory that zampano is actually johnny truant, johnny wrote down how a woman cheated on her boyfriend for him and it coincidentally happens when he's trying to translate a passage that was written a few paragraphs before karen's affair was revealed. though this could be another one of his tangents that tries to relate everything in the manuscript with his own daily life

-I enjoy picking apart antagonistic characters, and this one was a fun one.

-I like how he acts in episode 5. He’s a pretty decent villain! I enjoyed putting together barely existing pieces and blaming his shift of. Slightly normal to dominating and controlling his little group on jealousy and guilt from kicking lukas out. And his need to regain control over not only Maya and Gill but himself which causes him to put up wall after wall of anger

-only for it to finally crack and crash during the fight scene in chapter 5. Have I talked about the fight scene? It’s so incredibly good. How Aiden projects his problems onto Jesse. How he still manages to hold his own, only for a bit. How he looks at you like the most pathetic wet dog just showed up on your doorstep. How he forgets how to swim if you kick him off.

Least favorite thing about him?

Upsettingly, I will admit he’s rather annoying in episode one. And in general, typically if you cannot find something to relate with him he can just sort of feel like an annoying, single sided, reoccurring antagonist.

And I mean, in theory and practice that’s what he is. But where’s the fun in taking canon as just that. What’s exactly stated in the game. Reading between the lines is half the fun of mcsm I think.

While I think it’s highly possible Aiden had a small crush on lukas, I don’t think it’s ever going anywhere. And I think he effectively crushed it (hah) when he kicked Lukas out of the old ocelots (and then turned it into the blaze rods)

Not only that but I think they work better as rivals/friends if anything. They play off each other nicely, yes. But I don’t think any serious relationship would even be possible until Aiden gets his shit together and his problems ironed out.

I can genuinely only see it spiral into a constant fight for control over the relationship, where Aiden slowly withdraws and withdraws until he starts a fight that properly ends it. Whether he’s fighting with words or fists. Who knows.

And postgame, I think even a new friendship between the two starts rocky at best. They’re both used to having some control over the other, and now neither is willing to give any.

Aiden was preventing Lukas from growing as a character. And now that he [Lukas] left. They can both grow and change, for better or for worse.

This is kinda why I like Cassie/Aiden. Theyre both struggling with strikingly similar problems, albeit handled in different ways and spawned from far different things. They push each other in a better direction just by playing off each other naturally. They also make each other worse but! Gotta get worse before you get better.

2. i see some defense of LO is that "it makes more sense when you binge it" which is like??? if you can only kinda make sense of the story having to have binge 10-20+ episodes in a row then thats bad writing. an episode should be able to stand on its own and push some sort of aspect along (character/relationship/plot), not be broken up into 10 different pieces. that's both an un-fun reading experience but also comes across as rachel being a weak writer who is dragging it for her own monetary gain.

From OP: I always found that to be a weird take because obviously the story would make more sense binged. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t critique what’s already there. Reapers and Demons in Kuroshitsuji, a theory/headcanon/AU/Rant:

In Kuro, we are introduced to 9 Reapers:

Now, what do we know about the Reapers? Well,

All Reapers were once humans who committed suicide

All Reapers have phosphorescent, yellow/green eyes

All Reapers have bad eyesight and require glasses (with the exception of UT, though he is still unable to see clearly. He just uses other senses.)

Reapers have enhanced agility, endurance, and technology.

All Reapers have a Death Scythe that they can customise if given permission (It can cut through any material, except another Death Scythe)

They need food, water, and sleep to survive. They can likely get drunk and do drugs as well if Ronald’s character song can be interpreted as canon (unlikely but I’ll take it)

Collect souls to review and store them

They are forbidden from interfering with humans. They must remain neutral between humans and gods

This last one is what got my tiny little goblin mind thinking. And not very many things can do that.

Sebastian mentions God(s), possibly plural because this is Japanese and there is no singular/plural differentiation.

What God(s)? Is there a third supernatural being in this universe? Well, let’s look at the other one, besides Reapers.

Demons

There is only 1 demon confided in canon (I refuse to acknowledge season 2, no matter how much I love Hannah and the Triplets). We do not know very much about demons, but here’s what I have. Some of these are assumptions based on Sebastian (and Claude unfortunately):

A demon’s eyes change into a pinkish-red colour when using their powers

Demons have enhanced speed, strength, and perception

They do not need to eat, drink, or sleep. Though the last one is recreational.

Steal/kill for souls to eat them

Can interfere with mortal lives by forming contracts.

Demons and Reapers are seen as opposing forces in canon multiple times, think about Will’s reaction to seeing Sebastian at the circus, there is obvious distrust and hatred between the two. However, what if the real opposition to demon’s is the third supernatural being from earlier.

Demon and Reaper eyes

Both of the above species have a strange eye colour that represents their character. Now, if you compare the colours

Indulge this photography nerd for a second if you will. Both clearly are supposed to add to the inhuman effect but why yellow-green and pink-red. It could be a random choice by Yana (I know the Reaper eyes are supposed to be the phosphorus in a corpse and everything. Please stay with me)

Well, while these 2 colours seem random at first, take a look at a colour wheel. I found this one online and Will link it at the end.

I admit the colours I chose are not exact, the green should be more vibrant and the pink more reddish. However, the point still sticks. Pinkish-red and yellow-green are related, as long as blue is there to make a Triadic effect.

Now, back to the third supernatural creature from before

God(s)

The idea of god usually represents some all-powerful supernatural force. But, what if they were just another supernatural creature instead. More specifically, the leader of the third species mentioned previously. We know not all Reapers are equal due to the mention of ‘Higher-ups’ throughout the series. Sebastian is also not the only one of his kind (Reaper academy teaches how to kill Demons in general. Not just the one that hangs around London alleys with a child and only sleeps for the fun of it). So, it is likely that the Demons also have a head of some sort. From now on I will call this unknown character the Devil just for convenience sake.

So, if there is the ‘Higher-ups’ and ‘the Devil’ then the third party would likely also have a leader of some sort. God. God would oversee their workers, The Devil oversees the Demons, and the Higher-Ups oversee the Reapers.

Angels

Angels....certainly are an idea in Kuro. Angela and Ash come to mind immediately but they belong to the fan fiction that is the anime so take it with a grain of salt. Angels in season 1 are also kind of, you know, evil assholes. So when I say Angels I’m not talking about them. In this increasingly bizarre idea I’ve created, Angels are God’s little worker bees. They are responsible for creating life while Demons end it and Reapers sort out everything in-between. Here’s some thoughts!

Some were Reaper’s that we’re redeemed and others were originally human

They have blue eyes (see above.)

They have encreased perception, speed, and strength

Do not require food, water, or sleep. Though the first two are recreational

Responsible for creating souls

And that’s all I’ve got that actually makes sense. What is this? I don’t really know. I wouldn’t call it a theory and it doesn’t feel like and AU so it’s just me screaming my thoughts to the wind for attention I guess. Everything below this is pure crack and just some stuff I wanted to say but couldn’t support.

Angels interfere with humans through blessings theyre similar to contracts but only available to the purist humans.

Reapers are humans who commited suicide, Demons are humans who commited murder, and Angels are humans who were killed or died too early in life.

Reapers and humans can both become any of the other 2-3. Angels can become Demons. Demons cannot become Angels.

There are more angels than reapers and there are more reapers than demons.

I’ve been thinking about cr as I very often do, and something about the beacons is just sort nagging at me, and I think it’s because there are a lot of coincidences in relation to tharizdun.

So hear me out: I know the easiest connection to make is that the luxon is a front for tharizdun, which could be possible. However, something I think is way more interesting and plot-twisty is if theyre connected in some totally different way

So here are some coincidences that are highly ~interesting~ when put together:

-          Tharizdun is likely older than all the other gods (from critrole stats) – according to the religious beliefs of the kryn, the luxon birthed life in exandria/may have created the other gods. This is up for debate, since we don’t know how much of the luxon’s religion is fact

-          Both the luxon and tharizdun are generally believed to have very odd natures, different to that of other gods. The luxon is referred to as ‘the light’ that creates, whereas tharizdun is described as ‘rolling, hungry ink and darkness’ that destroys. Seem diametrically opposed; foes

-          The kryn split from lolth’s control sometime during the end of the age of arcanum/the beginning of the calamity, due to belief in the luxon. The defining event of the age of arcanum and the calamity was tharizdun’s jailbreak and subsequent resealing

-          The shackles used to hold tharizdun were scattered across exandria, and their whereabouts are largely unknown – the one we do know about, however, was underground beneath rexxentrum. The beacons have been found exclusively (I think) in archaeological digs.

-          (this is a reach) critrole stats says that each prime deity gave a seed of power to the allhammer to chain tharizdun, so that’s twelve for each one. Additionally, the wiki says there are six ‘sets’ of shackles, which could be interpreted to equal twelve in total. We don’t know how many beacons there are in total, and the symbol of the luxon is a twelve-sided polygon.

-          The location of each shackle is a highly guarded secret – very few people in the world have ever seen them personally, only higher-ups in the clergy of the dawnfather and the knowing mistress. These religions are accepted in the empire, but not widely followed in xhorhas – if you saw a beacon in the empire and was told it was a shackle, you’re not very likely to connect the dots.

-          Actually, the only ‘powers that be’ in the empire that have seen the beacons are members of the Cerberus assembly – who, upon finding the beacon in the dig at pride’s call, took it immediately. AFAIK nobody outside of them has seen it since.

-          Obann – and I know the bitch is dead, but still – was looking for people who could easily come back to life right? The beacons literally reincarnate people (tying into my consecuted!yasha theory).

Is the luxon some sort of last-ditch effort to stop tharizdun if everything goes to shit, using time travel to have infinite chance to defeat it ie. Groundhog day? Is the luxon just a ‘thing’ used by the gods and despite being divine in some way isn’t actually a god? Is the luxon a young god that was created by the prime deities, to banish tharizdun, then partially destroyed?

I have no idea, I’m just throwing ideas into the void, but its still fun to think about

my thoughts: this show is amazing tbh. one of my alltime favorite dramas ever ngl. it has 5 couples that are shown on screen (with small cameos from / mentions of tharntype), all of which are cute (except klano. we dont talk abt klano.) 

ending: mixed, depending on the couple. the main couple (aepete) has a happy ending, but three of the side couples have open endings, one of which is super angsty

my thoughts: no sexual stuff like many other bls, instead focuses on the romance part of it, the evolving relationship/friendship between kongarthit, the internal struggle of figuring out one’s sexuality, and the bond formed between students/friends/classmates. honestly?? storyline is gotdamn beautiful and i cried more than once just bc i was so overcome

my thoughts: anGST goddammit bl dramas love their angst huh. anyways i love the general plot of this and also like ? how aware the creators are of the plot sorta bc the movie flipped is a large af part of the show . also the kiss that ive seen ?? whew YES bro . also like before we get the happy ending there’s SOOOO much angst, even after they both know that they like each other ksjdf i haven’t finished it bc im mentally preparing myself

summary: love is a girl who is a huge fan of vier, a boy who attends great men academy (an all-boys school). one day she helps an injured unicorn by a lake (dont ask BRO DONT ASK) who then grants her one wish: to fulfill her love. unfortunately, the unicorn interprets love’s wish differently than expected, and turns her into a boy. love decides to attend great men academy in her male form, but she must remember to return to the lake and submerge herself every night before midnight to turn into her female form again, or she’ll be stuck in her male form forever

my thoughts: this drama........ whoever thought of this plot was on crack or smth. s’cute though. all the male characters are members of 9x9 (including captain, who plays noh in lovesick) also the main lead ends up with the person everyone acTUALLY wanted him/her to end up with so . YAY FOR US. still a WEIRD ass plot though
