how is Ollie doing?

Ollie crawled into my lap and snuggled with me for a solid hour and a half the other day. I thought this was odd, because he's been really bitey lately and isn't much of a cuddler. But his stomach was kind of bloated so I thought he might be gassy and feeling bad. So I rubbed his belly and enjoyed the cuddles until he was feeling better.

"This is what happens when a warp pad is down for daily maintenance. You have to go to the one with the grumpy guard," he muttered just loud enough for Red to hear.

Snickering, Red pattered over next to Hema's side, talking through her teeth.

"Yeah, let's just hope we don't run into too many more."

Hema scoffed softly and stepped up onto the glittering blue warp pad.

"Psh. If we do, I could always, I dunno... toss them into the next district," he joked, sparing the service gem a wink.

Hopping up next to Hema, Red grinned smugly, staring off at nothing.

"I would love to see you try that."

"Hm, think my arm's good enough for it?" he joked, reaching up to his shoulder. He rested a hand on it and rotated his arm around at the elbow, as if stretching it. "Mmm I bet I could toss ten grumpy Jaspers over the district wall if I tried."

Holding her fingers up to her lips, Red snickered, trying not to make a scene. 

"Shhh. They'll hear you."

Gleam!

Both gems were sent off in a flash, appearing soon in the Hematite Kindergarten.

After a moment, Hematite stepped rather mechanically off the warp pad, his hands folded behind his back. He stood professionally before suddenly inhaling, shouting rather loudly, "CAN THEY HEAR ME NOW, RED." His voice echoed off the chasms.

"Yes!" shouted one of the Jasper guards atop the massive cliffs. After a moment of surprised confusion, Red suddenly placed her hands on her knees, cackling.

Hema sharply looked up before suddenly bursting into laughter, holding his abdomen. An embarrassed blush painted his cheeks a vibrant violet color, and he weakly waved at the Pearl laughing behind him.

hrrhhrnghrgnhn character interactions where one character [probably a size shifter or a monster] feels big and scary and like they can't be near the person they care about and then said person is so gentle and tender with them and assures them that they're not scared of them and aaAUUUGH

💞 Who's your comfort character?

//gurgles// I mean. Hoo boy.

Hema is obviously the OG comfort boi. But like, Red too. Hema, Red, Jet, Yellow, Hita, Kyan, Morgan. They're all really personal comfort characters that I often default to when I need to draw someone to cheer me up. OH AND PERIDOT HOW COULD I FORGET.

German* food poll but we have meatless options

A while ago everyone did those regional food polls and i wanted to do one back then but forgot... anyway. If you don't eat meat the options can be very limited in (traditional) restaurants around here. I wanted to do one with dishes that don't typically contain meat or can at least be easily adapted. Also yes this is kind of based on both my personal tastes and experiences so it's biased towards southern food, lmao. If you're vegan please just pretend it's a vegan version it's almost impossible to find options otherwise

*yes some of these are technically considered to be from Austria or France but they're still incredibly common in the regions near the border.
