#essay in the tags#my honest to god best travel tip is to have expectations in the gutter#i've never been like “oh pariee! la cite!!”#so when i got here i was like louvre pigeons stinky etc#and everything since then has been a wonderful surprise#i have a lovely room and i just got back from being driven around#and it just feels so grounding#like this is the city and here you are#idk#it's not romantic and the more tourist areas immediately no#but it's like if new york had a consistent building style#and wasn't gentrified all the way to the edges#i like the vibe a lot#we were accosted by a bus driver ❤️#and yelled at by an old lady ❤️#and that's how you know you're in a Real City#i like vancouver but it's just so superficial and the ppl are too#anyway#❤️❤️❤️❤️#i had my first martini at a bar that hemingway liked and i sweated the whole thing out on the metro home
