having a beautiful day off with m! we did yoga together then had breakfast on the porch… went to get iced drinks (m had a lemon green tea, i had a rhubarb spritz) and got gardening supplies at canadian tire… when we got home m made us blueberry mint and lemon drinks to cool down then we got to work on the garden and got all of our little guys planted… now m is conked out for a nap and i’m eating dumplings before we go to my friends place for dinner & margaritas :) 🤍

jake's not used to this. to being in a relationship, to leaning on someone. his personal history is riddled with short-term flings and one night stands, relationships that live little mark on him or the other person.

but nat is different. she's always been different, ever since he spent his junior year at the academy trying his hardest to get under her skin. something about her makes him want to try, to let himself lean on her and hope that she leans back.

nat keeps her cards close to her chest. she always has, learned long ago that in their line of work, it's best for her to be stoic rather than emotional. it's hard to know, sometimes, what's going through natasha's mind. both of them are cautious in this relationship, treading lightly and trying to make sure it doesn't implode before it can truly get off the ground. jake likes everything it's been so far, the late nights and the early coffee runs, the races they take during their morning jogs and the veiled teasing over comms when their squadrons fly together.

but he's scared, in a way he's never been before. he's scared of the potential that's laid out in front of him, of the way that natasha can pierce him with her knowing gaze and he's suddenly unsure of everything he's ever known. natasha's carefully trained check on her emotions doesn't do much to ease the worry. sometimes, he's positive she's in this as much as he is. like when she spends the night and he sleeps through all his alarms, exhausted from the day, and he wakes up to her brewing him coffee and humming his favorite song.

other times, he's not as positive. jake's so far into this that he needs to know, needs to confront this before it's past the point of no return. so one night, over take out and the cheapest bottle of wine nat could find (she's whatever the opposite of a wine snob is), jake broaches the topic.

"i'm not alone in this, am i?" he asks, watching her pause her dunk of her dumpling into the sauce.

"in what?" she asks curiously, looking up at him. her hair is starting to escape the bun, loose strands framing her face in the low light. the sight catches jake's breath in his chest.

"in this, in us. look," jake decides to get to the heart of the matter. "i'm trying at this, harder than i've tried for most things in my life. it's taking a lot to try to not fuck up. so, before i'm in too far, you're with me, right? i'm not alone, leaning on you?"

nat's face softens and she drops her chopsticks to reach over and cup jake's cheek. he leans into it, letting her cradle him. "you're not alone, jake," she says quietly, running her thumb along his cheekbone. "i'm right here with you."

I catched the pest (u know... THE virus) I totally blame my boss who sent me to a workshop 2 hours away by train in said train and it was overflowing with little kids and people generally don't caring. Not the point sorry. My point is! I don't know the OG name of the soup I can only offer the name on the menu. I had Pekin soup yesterday and because the metal in the spoon hurt me (because of the temperature difference) I had to improvise so I used wan tans as spoon and now I never want to eat anything else ever in my life. My adhd brain unlocked a new food I can have. I will have. Exclusively for the next month I am afraid. Moral of the story? No realy. Try it. It's AMAZING.

That sounds delicious! If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend soup dumplings 😋 they're these small steamed buns with soup and filling inside of them. Absolutely delicious! You can usually get them at dim sum.

Also I hope you feel better soon! Rest as much as you can and keep yourself hydrated 🤍

Pretty Red Dress

“When are you leaving?” You hear Yoongi call to you from the bedroom as you wrap up putting your lipstick on, the finishing touches to your makeup. Looking into the mirror, you nod a little before starting to put your makeup away, calling back to Yoongi that you’re going to be leaving relatively soon. You’re ready to go for the most part, just needing to slip into your dress and shoes.

Your friends have been begging you for some time now to go out with them. With how busy you’ve been at work, it was practically impossible till sometime this week. At hearing that you’d be able to go out, they insisted that you go out for a fancy dinner together, dressed to the nines. Thinking that it sounded like a lot of fun, you accepted the invite, excited to spend some time with your friends finally.

Wandering out of the bathroom, you spot Yoongi sitting at the edge of the bed, spacing out as he looks out the window. You walk past him, patting his head as you do, and make your way to the closet to grab the stunning red dress. You put it on swiftly, shimmying it up your body and looping your arms through the sleeves. You turn to Yoongi, knowing that you wouldn’t be able to zip up without any help. He’s zeroed in on you, small smile on his face as he watches your movements.

“Can you zip up my dress?” He nods, gaze still completely on you. You turn around, allowing him better access to the zip on your dress. It’s one of your favorites, but the zipper has always been a hassle and tends to get stuck. You feel his fingers brush the small of your back as he grasps at the zipper, and then the slow drag of his hand as he shimmies it up against your spine. He’s taking his time with it and you can’t help but to giggle a bit at his antics.

“There you go sweetheart.” He leans in and gives you a quick kiss on the shoulder before sitting back down on the bed. You turn on your heel to face him, cupping his face and leaning in to give him a chaste kiss on the lips. You’re enjoying spending time with him, even if its something as casual as sitting around the house together. It’s a pity you have to leave…

“Are you sure you don’t want to come?” He shakes his head, reminding you that it’s time to spend with you friends and not him as you make your way over to the vanity. Plus, he’d be waiting for you when you got home with all the cuddles you could ever want. A pretty irresistible thought, getting to cozy up to your precious dumpling man.

“You look beautiful… I’ve always loved how you look in red…” He trails off you grin at his words as you put your earrings in. You watch back him through the mirror, a gummy smile appearing on his face as he catches your gaze. His eyes are nearly twinkling as he looks at you, the dark depths full of warmth.

“If you keep looking at me like that I won’t want to leave.” Yoongi stands from his spot then, walking up behind you and encircling his arms around your waist. Plopping his head down on your shoulder, he turns a little and kisses your cheek ever so lightly to not mess with your makeup. He feels so warm and comforting wrapped around you, honestly he’s making it harder and harder to even want to leave. Unwrapping yourself from his embrace, you turn around and laugh as he kisses your lips a few times in quick succession.

“You better get going then baby, I don’t think I could stop looking at you even if I tried.”

- yesterday I took a hot shower with a eucalyptus/mint shower steamer and listened to my favorite jazz music

- absolutely struggling through an hour and fifteen minutes of 8 am yoga

- grabbing coffee and running errands with e after my yoga class. little things shared with him 🤍

- chocolate and almonds

- making a new friend on the bus. the first thing he texted me was asking if I was romanian/bulgarian

- walking to target in weather that felt like spring…coming back with a moleskin notebook for my linguistics course and some veggie/chicken dumplings I made up for myself

- I feel pretty in a really simple way and I feel like the world sees it too
