Day 30 @girlabout.travel #sharingamazingmemories ⁣ ⁣ *Picnics *⁣ ⁣ This seems so long ago yet only yesterday. ⁣ Days like this one are what keep me going usually. ⁣ ⁣ Our little trips out. A play park and picnic and maybe an icecream or a cuppa in the cafe. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ For now though im glad of the days I pushed myself to go out even though I felt anxious being out number by toddlers. It means I have these memories to look back on while we are staying safe at home. ⁣ ⁣ Hoping that when we can get back to normal. It is a new normal a more appreciative normal. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I’ve loved joining in with these photo prompts. It’s got me looking through old photos, reliving old memories through them. How wonderful are these pics?!! And how lucky are we to get to be such a special part of this gorgeous little bubblers 4th birthday?! We LOVE seeing what amazing things our bubbles get up to, it's just the best!! It was not just travel day, but also Yannick's 4th birthday. The trouble with having a birthday over the summer is that holidays do get in the way, with us often being away from home and with friends being away if we're organising a party. We made an effort to make his day special despite the long hours of travelling, starting with candles to blow out at breakfast and finishing with a favourite meal, which he got to pre-order from my husband who was already back home. Presents weren't gift-wrapped today as I ran out of time trying to put the house in order before we went away, so instead we used fabric to cover them one at a time, spacing them out over a few hours. This worked really well because Yannick (and his brothers) spent some time playing with everything. The picture here shows one of the presents in action, @drzigs giant bubble travel kit from @conscious_craft . This was an all around success with the whole family, so thank you @the_enchanted_mother for posting about it a while back! I'll be taking a trip down memory lane tonight, looking through pictures of the last four years... If you've been following my account for a while, you'll know that I'm a mum of three boys, and that I regularly post under #normalizebreastfeeding. I have been breastfeeding for six years altogether, and have been tandem feeding my younger two for the last 1 1/2 years. When my eldest was born, there was no question for me: I was determined that he would be breastfed exclusively. The beginning of our breastfeeding journey wasn't smooth. Getting my tiny baby to latch on and hold his latch proved difficult. There were several factors contributing to the issue: I had small and slightly inverted nipples, but large and engorged breasts. While we stayed in hospital, I had to use the buzzer at each feed to ask for help latching my boy on. My breasts had become public property, were on display, while we were struggling to establish something that I had expected to come naturally. A few days in, one of the midwives suggested that nipple shields might help with the feeds, and they did. I had to brush off disapproving looks from some nurses, but at last, I could feed my boy without needing help. We tried feeding without at each feed, and switched to the shields before he got too frustrated. It took three weeks before my baby was able to keep a latch without them. We’ve had a lovely morning out and about making use of our @nationaltrust membership. We had a splash in some giant puddles, got accosted by a swan, ate icecream(why would you not?) ate a picnic lunch & had a play in the play park. 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦. ⁣ This morning we had no plans. I started back doing a 20min walk a day to our local windmill. Then I asked this little pair “play group or out in the car.” The chose car. So we drove to town and to the local park and sandpit. ⁣ Then for some lunch. ⁣squeezing out those last moments of summer. It’s just what I needed to have some time to connect again just me and them.
