Admittedly not the most period fabric choice, but sometimes we get to put the "creative" in SCA :P I debuted this at the Blue Feather social at Lilies a couple of weeks ago.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The tunica is a linen gauze and the beads on the sleeves are little moonstone clouds, for maximum cuteness.
The belt was brand new and made for me by a talented and awesome friend.
Tumblr media
The necklace I made a while ago. I like the idea behind the rainbow chains and stuff that have been going around, wanted a more period option for myself. I've never seen an example in this kind of color configuration, but the general design and all the stones/glass are period for me.

they/them
the break in the weather was all we needed to get some good fights in at the event the other weekend! no videos this time around, but a friend managed to snag a few photos of my bouts with this fighter. [image description: four photos of op and another fighter dueling with rapiers. op has an antler in their offhand, and their opponent has a buckler. op is a slim 20s white person with a long brown braid. they wear brown pants, black boots, a fencing helmet, and a green tabard over a mail shirt. their opponent is taller and bigger than them, with dark facial hair vaguely visible through his helm. his tabard is split in half vertically, white on one side and blue on the other. he wears a fencing helmet, black pants, and black boots. end image description.]

Gave away the blue and green skjoldehamn braid at the SCA meeting and received a horn nalbinding needle in kind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's so pretty. My first attempt at nalbinding - not so much. I need practice - A LOT.
Met the seneschal and her husband. I really like this group of people. They are very chill, helpful, and they enjoy sharing info, wearing silly medieval outfits, and doing arts and crafts

After I created a playlist for the drive to SCA events & renaissance fairs, I decided to also make one inspired by the Autumn, Fall, Halloween, & Samhain season. Fantasy, folksy, witchy, and medieval 🍁🦇🍂

Guys I'm gonna make this one guy from 1571 hate me because just to spite him I shall henceforth 'prophane the Sabboth day' through dancing, drinking and flirting with pretty people.

My first sword sheath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not as impressive as @dbkcustomscabbards, but for a first try going off of videos and pictures. It's not bad.
Especial since it is now the home for my first IMFC/HMC sword.

Please ignore my messy ass room behind me. I completed the bodice, skirt, and shift for an event I went to a couple of weeks ago. All in all, I'm pretty happy about the result, but there are a few things I'd change about each item that I'll attempt to adjust on future projects. For the skirt, I'd make it longer. I don't mind hobbit length, but not for an SCA event. It would probably do for 28th century working garb, or as an underskirt when it's cold since it's flannel. The shift if made out of a sheet. It was a good effort, but the kind of cotton it is... no. Wither s light woven muslin or linen from now on. I also think I'll make the sleeves separate because I like decorative gathers at the sleevehead. The bodice is nearly perfect for me. I cam up with a better construction good than I ever had before, and attaching everything went smoothly. Two ajustments: I need to make the lining about an inch longer, so it's easier to turn up in the waist area to enclose the raw seam; I made the front flat, where the waist and front are perpendicular to each other. I need to make the front slope outward by an inch or two, so it's more of an angled seam. Being a fat person, my tummy sticks out further than my boobs and i have a sway back, so adding just a hint more room at the waist would fix the fit problem there. . . . . . . #sca #mysca #scadian #currentmiddleages #historicalcostuming #garb #garbattempt https://www.instagram.com/p/Cjp5R97roUg/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Another project started at the SCA A&S meetup
Tumblr media
I did all the cutting and basting on this pillbox hat, currently in progress. This is linen cutoff from a hemmed hot-weather/short tunic. Backstitched all the seams with linen threads pulled from the same cutoff material (a first time for me) and am currently rolling the hems with a whip stitch in red silk thread. This is the most buttery smooth thread I have ever experienced
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tried my first cord couching with some blue superwash merino wool. It started as seen in the left pic and as I got the hang of it the stitches became more uniform. I went tighter on the side to see how it looks (right pic).
Tumblr media
I think it's pretty neat and a good base for more work later. I'm working my skill level up to try/learn embroidery.
