my idea for modern day tracy liwanag!

so in my mind tracy and poppy naturally drifted apart when tracy moved to the US to get a medical degree, eventually poppy went to MIT. despite living in the same country they rarely spoke aside from formalities.

i think they grow up to just tolerate each other but poppy tries to brag to her any time she can, which is rarely ever since tracys almost always working. tracy's a workaholic more than poppy, she has to be being an ER doctor.

poppy's always wondered what it's like living the way she lives, traditionally comfortably but in constant work motion, or is that exactly what she's doing? on the flipside tracy feels inadequate or even jealous of poppy because of how she's succeeded on living (what she thinks is) her dream life, while shes stuck in an endless labour cycle, or is that exactly what poppy thinks?

anyways eventually tracy moves back to Australia to be with family and poppy finds out she has a few weeks later through her parents and that in turn makes poppy feel bad now for staying in LA and never visiting. this fear builds on the fact that poppy's family doesn't reach out to her anymore, that she's the only kid that isn't coming back for her parents.

As I sit here rewatching Mythic quest immediately after finishing season three for the first time, I am slowly accepting the dreaded notion that I will eventually have to rewatch Breaking Brad

Also I had to go through the painful fucking 37 minutes that was Dark Quiet Death and I think it broke a part of my soul that I will never get back. 😋

Can't Live With Him, Must Live Without Him

“That’s just like you, isn’t it?” She knows the words will cut deep, wants them to hurt, wants Ian to feel even an ounce of the pain he’s put her through. “Overpromise, underdeliver.”

Ian’s face falls.

Good.

“Come on, Po – come on.” She cuts him off before he can win her pity.

“No.” Poppy turns sharply, trying to hide the way she can feel her bottom lip trembling. She blinks away hot tears as she steps into the stairwell. Her legs carry her just a few steps further, barely out of sight, before she slumps against the wall. With the cuff of one hoodie sleeve, she wipes furiously at her eyes.

She won’t give him the satisfaction of making her cry.

Outside, she hears Ian swear loudly, on the heels of a loud clatter. It spurs her on; she doesn’t want to be standing here if he comes back inside.

This time, she makes it all the way to the Grimmpop offices before she stops, dropping into her chair. She folds over, head thumping against her keyboard until she reaches up and shoves it away. It falls off the desk, but she doesn’t care. If she could muster the focus, she’d push everything off the desk. The mouse, the computer, her drink in its gas station cup, all of it.

Instead, she screams into the crook of her elbow, and pretends not to notice when it turns into a sob.

For years, she and Ian have worked together. It hasn’t been seamless, by any stretch of the word, but they’ve worked. Through the arguments and the creative differences and the bickering, they’ve always been able to come out the other side.

This time? She doesn’t know if they will.

here’s my ranking for the mq characters in the different seasons and what i think the best seasons for the characters were

ian and poppy: 2 and 3

brad: season 2 ofc (season 1 was evil persona buildup, s2 was the internal (and somewhat external) break and then ran away and s3 was dumb and weird and ooc in an in-character way dude iykyk)

david: season 3 tbh (he slayed so fucking harddddd but i’m disappointed that he’s letting ian and poppy come back ngl like i get it plot wis but development wise it feels weird after he finally stood )

jo: season 3 again (she got to be so autistic it was unreal)

dana: 2 (bring back my aspirational nerd girl not this fucking wannabe girlboss ceo)

rachel: 1 honestly (HEAD OF MONETIZATION?????! kill me)

season 2 was the best overall, s3 was the worst, and season 1 was lovely and unforgettable

I don't know much about Ian's backstory, but having in mind what he said to Poppy about the cigarette burn, it seems that he had to do what his father wanted, when his father wanted, in the way his father wanted. This would leave little space to what Ian wanted/needed.

If that is true, then it makes sense that he is always making everyone do his things on his way on his time. He wasn't able to do that as a child and is trying to do it now as an adult. Besides his main reference to this sort of freedom was his father therefore him emulating his father's way makes a lot of sense.

But again, idk much about his backstory, idk much about him so there is a high chance this is all bullshit.
