Finally finished this! Took me a while but I’m happy with it. Seriously though I love Shin Soukoku so much, I’ve been in the trenches for YEARS now lol
I wish the voice of Atsushi to continue living the good life!
"Thank you always for your support. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I, Yuuto Uemura, would like to announce that I have gotten married," he said in a handwritten post. "I have been blessed with a new relationship and have resolved to move forward. Although I am still inexperienced, I will never forget my gratitude to everyone and will strive to grow even further as an actor and artist. I would be grateful if you could watch over me warmly. Thank you for your continued support," Uemura continued.
summary: atsushi attempts to gain the attention of a cat
It had been two weeks of watching your boyfriend attempt to befriend a local cat. Attempting and failing to befriend would be more accurate, as the striped feline kept dashing away right as he was able to get close to it.
You giggled as it avoided him for the umpteenth time. "C'mon, use your cat senses."
"I don't think that's a thing I can apply here," Atsushi responded. "But I'll try if you think it'll work."
You shook your head at him. "No need, maybe someone at the ADA has some food we can use to lure it in with. Dazai-san has been in that river enough times to have caught some fish, at least."
Although amused at your question, Dazai didn't have any fish on him when you arrived at the ADA building. After a small round of questioning, Fukuzawa agreed to give you some cat treats he had on standby if you promised to take pictures for him.
"I had no idea he liked cats so much," Atsushi commented as you headed back to the area you'd last seen the stray.
"Cats are cute, what's not to love?." You glanced over at him. You would never point out how adorable you found his catlike mannerisms, or how his belt followed him like a tail. He'd be too embarrassed of them if you did.
Despite staying out until evening, the striped cat nor any others would come close enough to pet. You did manage to snap some pictures to show the rest of the ADA later, though. One was of a small black kitten playing with the end of Atsushi's belt that skittered away as soon as he moved, hissing with all its might.
a/n: have this short and cut writing i did as a little warmup. i want to start writing for this fandom soon, and more in general. also yay more cats!!
Thinking about what Atsushi and Akutagawa’s dynamics would be as a couple. We already know from canon what their fights would be like and how they support each other in a crisis. We know from BEAST that they can make each other laugh and that’s how they bond when they get along.
What would they be like in their more intimate, tender moments, though?
I think Akutagawa, being the more talkative of the two, would be the type to express his love and devotion through words, “weretiger” seamlessly becoming into a term of endearment. Aku doesn’t trust himself as much with physical contact because he sometimes doubts his ability to touch something without destroying it. Atsu has to remind him occasionally that Aku’s touch makes him feel safe, understood, and cared for.
Despite being someone who is really good at reaching out to people by talking to them, Atsushi is less confident at verbal expressions of love beyond the phrase “I love you”. (Atsushi knows his tongue can be sharp sometimes, especially towards Akutagawa in the past, and Aku has to remind him that that tongue has brought people into the light and forged alliances between enemies.) Ironically for a man who wasn’t shown a shred of physical kindness for the first 18 years of his life, Atsu is more confident at expressing affection through touch despite being the more relatively passive partner. Once he knows his feelings are mutual and the initial boundaries between them shift to allow it, tender physical contact comes as naturally to Atsushi as fighting did.
As with seemingly everything else, SSKK are yin and yang.
Atsushi is mostly a bottom, but the two fall into sharing the role of big spoon. Atsushi tends to be the big spoon just a little more often, though, because he knows Aku gets cold easily whereas he has a fairly warm resting temperature.
Their favorite couple’s activities besides catching up on pop culture stuff they missed are, perhaps paradoxically, reading quietly at home and going to punk and metal shows.
