4 Essential Side Dishes to Get with Catered Barbecue
Every main character needs a supporting cast, every rockstar needs a band, and every barbecue needs side dishes. While tender, smokey meat smothered in barbecue sauce may be the star of most cookouts, everyone can agree that the sides can make or break any meal.
Tumblr media
Luckily, the right catering company can help you find reliable, delicious barbecue restaurants for your next event. Whether you’re a born and raised Tennesseean looking for the most authentic catering Nashville has to offer or a West Coast resident craving southern comfort food, a reliable caterer can find what you’re looking for. Just remember to order these four side dishes so your meats aren’t left without backup.
Potato Salad
This creamy, delightful dish is a barbecue staple. It pairs perfectly with juicy, tender meat, and the name at least suggests that it counts as a serving of vegetables.
To take your barbecue to the next level, order a few servings of potato salad so everyone can indulge in this dish. Whether you’re hosting a lunch, retreat, or team bonding activity, a reliable corporate caterer can curate the feeling (and, most importantly, the taste) of a home-cooked BBQ.
Crunchy Coleslaw
Some things go together so well that you can’t imagine one without the other, like the Fourth of July and fireworks or a barbecue and cole slaw. This crunchy, creamy combination of shredded cabbage, veggies, and mayonnaise perfectly complements the smokey flavor of barbecued meat.
If you’re in a state known for its barbecue, like North Carolina, be sure to choose a caterer who knows coleslaw. Barbecue restaurants catering Wilmington NC events will likely understand how important the cabbage-to-mayonnaise ratio is, but be sure to read a few reviews on a trusted catering website to be safe.
Cornbread
There are countless ways to enjoy this delectable bread: in a loaf, a skillet, or muffins. Cornbread even varies regionally! Northern cornbread is known for its sweet flavor and cakey texture, whereas southern cornbread is more savory.
Regardless of how you prefer your cornbread, this bright, fluffy side is the perfect accompaniment to any barbecue meat. After all, what could be more perfect for soaking up any leftover barbecue sauce on your plate than warm, fresh cornbread?
Mac and Cheese
Meat may be the star of a barbecue, but mac and cheese is always close to stealing the spotlight. Gooey mac and cheese is a cookout essential, especially when you’re catering an event for a large group of people.
Since this dish can stand on its own or off to the side, mac and cheese is a great way to highlight the local personality of your region. Coastal cities might show off with lobster mac and cheese, whereas restaurants catering Indianapolis events might feature a chili-inspired mac.
Whether you’re planning an event for people who can spot authentic barbecue from a mile away or for Oregon locals craving a taste of Southern comfort food, the right caterer can make your event a success—assuming you remember the sides!

Much to her chagrin, her boss dispatches her and her colleague Sebastian (Bishop) to the City of Lights to make the pitch and seal the deal. Anna’s by-the-books work style clashes with Sebastian's looser approach and over-the-top ideas that dazzle the client but exceed budget realities that land them in hot water. When they arrive in Paris to meet with the client, a misunderstanding leads the Durands to believe Anna and Sebastian are married, making them excited about the prospect of having real-life couple in charge of the creative vision for their brand and forcing them to try to keep up appearances.
Valentine, Nebraska Starring: Kathryn Davis and Markian Tarasiuk Premieres: Saturday, Feb. 18 It’s a week away from Valentine’s Day and Olivia (Davis) loses both her boyfriend and her job in the same week. Her sister Vanessa, who still lives in their hometown in Nebraska, convinces Olivia to come back home for an extended trip and help get her back on her feet. Olivia's roommate in New York has a friend, George (Tarasiuk), who's driving out to Los Angeles and agrees to take Olivia to her destination -- which is exactly halfway between New York and California -- in exchange for a free night's stay in her hometown. Olivia, low on cash after her layoff, agrees to take turns driving so he can get to Los Angeles in less than five days. The two strangers set out on the open road, both on their way to being who they think they're supposed to be. When George's car breaks down mere miles from Olivia's hometown, he has to stay a few more days in Valentine, Nebraska with Olivia and her sister. After spending so much time together, the two realize that their priorities might have changed, and love is what truly matters.
Made for Each Other Starring: Alexandra Turshen, Matt Cohen, Aaron O'Connell and Illeana Douglas Premieres: Saturday, Feb. 25 A sculptor (Turshen) uses magic to mold her ideal man (O’Connell) into reality but begins to fall for her real-life friend (Cohen) and embraces the flaws that make love perfectly imperfect.
HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES

Curious Caterer: Grilling Season Starring: Nikki DeLoach and Andrew Walker Premieres: Sunday, Feb. 5 Professional caterer Goldy Berry (DeLoach) throws a lavish barbeque event for her childhood friend, acclaimed realtor Susie Craig. Later that night, she is shocked to discover that after the event concluded, Susie's grill exploded and killed her. Goldy's professional reputation is put under fire when people realize that she was the last one to use the grill. On a mission to clear her name, Goldy teams up once again with detective Tom Schultz (Walker) to figure out who was behind this mysterious explosion. As they weed through manipulative party guests, heated gossip, and dark secrets, the suspect list grows with familiar names, ranging from business partners to ex-spouses. Goldy and Tom realize that the murderer might be closer to them than they initially imagined.
A Nashville Legacy (Mahogany)  Starring: Andrea Lewis, Pooch Hall, Stan Shaw & Roz Ryan Premieres: Sunday, Feb. 26 Naima (Lewis) has recently moved to Nashville, where she is getting her doctorate while interning as a curator at a well-known Nashville museum. The tales her late grandmother shared about the old days in Music City during the 1950s provided a fascination that led music enthusiast Naima back to her grandmother's old haunts. As she begins her work at the museum, Naima meets Damian (Hall), a volunteer… or so she thinks. Damian is actually the heir to the Berryhall Records empire, run by his father Franklin Berryhall (Shaw), but he is struggling to step out from under his father’s shadow of success. The two begin to get close, bonding over their love for music and their desire to leave their respective marks on the world.

Popstar Protection Program
Requested Here!
Pairing: Tim Bradford x singer!fem!reader
Summary: As a young popstar performing in LA for the first time, you don't expect to need police protection. A very reluctant and grumpy sergeant keeps you safe and gives you inspiration.
Warnings: brief angst, fluff, vague mention of heavier topics (nothing specific)
Word Count: 2.8k+ words
Picture from Pinterest (from such a good episode, too)
Tumblr media
Los Angeles can be scary. The aerial shots in movies and TV shows make it look inviting, and the focus on the glamorous aspects tends to hide the dangerous underbelly of the City of Angels. Even scarier, you think, is walking through Los Angeles when a large percentage of the population knows your name.
When you started singing, you never expected to become a “star” or be on the covers of magazines, and you absolutely never thought you’d be playing a sold-out show in Staples Center. While you should be focused on practicing and ensuring the show goes well, you can’t think of anything else except the incident in the airport when you landed.
Getting off the plane in LAX, you first notice the lack of fresh air. After playing on the East Coast and opening in smaller venues in towns on the other side of the country, you expected this to be similar. Los Angeles is nothing like Charlotte, Boston, or even Nashville. Taking a deep breath, you grow excited to see Staples Center and all the other sights of Los Angeles.
But you don’t even exit the airport before your hopes and plans are shattered. A large crowd of paparazzi are blocking the area outside your gate. You try to navigate through them with your head down, but one of them knocks his camera into your arm, tilting you off balance and making pain radiate down to your wrist.
“Alright, back up! LAPD, move back!” somebody yells on the other side of the crowd.
Slowly, you notice that no one is pressing up against you now, and when you see a man in a police uniform, you release a shaky sigh.
“Thank you,” you say.
He says your name, glancing over your shoulder. “Where’s your protection detail?”
“My what?”
“Oh boy. I think you should probably come with me; there’s some people that can keep this from happening again.”
“Why- why did it happen?”
“Paparazzi are practically vultures. They get paid by the picture to take advantage of people, invade their personal lives, and the closer the better. My guess would be one of the smaller papers or magazines heard you were coming and wanted to get a feature out before your show.”
“So, where are we going?”
“LAPD. Mid-Wilshire station is your best bet to get good cops and stay far enough from the center to avoid the cameras that seem to live there.”
“And then what?”
✯✯ Present ✯✯
“Absolutely not!”
Sitting outside an office with glass walls, you try not to look over as you eavesdrop. Your arm has been iced and wrapped, but the pain is now the least of your concerns. Three groups of officers entered the room after the cop who saved you explained the situation to the watch commander. At least one of them seems opposed to being your protection detail for a few days.
“We’re cops, not bodyguards! There are dozens of places in this city that cater to people like her!”
“Um, excuse me,” you interject, knocking on the open door. “I’m sorry to have caused all the upset, but I will find another way. Thanks for your time.”
Sergeant Grey says your name, gesturing for you to stay. “We’re going to take care of you. It’s your first time performing here and after your less-than-ideal welcome, you deserve someone to show you that LA isn’t all bad.”
“It’s not all good either though,” one of the officers adds.
“I don’t…” you begin.
“Why does this require three teams?” Bradford asks. You recognize his voice as the one that was wholly against the idea a moment ago.
“Bradford, this is your assignment. If you have a problem with it, take it up with IA,” Grey answers.
Bradford’s jaw clenches harshly, and his eyes flit to you before shaking his head and looking away.
“This is your protection team until after your show,” Grey explains, “Harper and Thorsen, Nolan and Juarez, Chen, and Bradford works with Metro so he knows this city inside and out.”
You nod along with the names, and a few of them offer their first names as well. After introducing yourself to the five officers who seem to care, you’re directed to an unmarked SUV.
“Aaron and I will be your mobile detail. You don’t go anywhere unless we take you there. Nolan and Juarez are more peripheral, unseen, protection. Lucy will stay with you as close to 24/7 as possible, and Bradford- well, Bradford’s here,” Nyla explains.
Chuckling, you thank her for the clear explanation and climb into the passenger seat after Aaron opens the door for you.
“I love your music, by the way,” he whispers.
“Thank you. I really appreciate that, and all that you’re doing for me,” you reply.
Aaron nods, closing the door and climbing into the backseat behind you. Your hotel reservation has been changed, booked under someone else’s name, and located farther from Staples Center. Watching the streets of Los Angeles from a police car window is, at the least, safer than the alternative, but it’s certainly nothing special.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Any idea as to why Bradford hates me without meeting me?” you ask Lucy.
“Tim is grumpy. He’s protective and loyal but he’s- he’s like a dog that wasn’t socialized enough as a puppy. Vicious until he gets to know you and then he’s the best friend you could ever ask for,” she answers, holding up one of your dresses.
“You’d look great in that color,” you muse. “Unfortunately, I don’t think Bradford wants to get to know me.”
“You think so? About the color? Because I need a new dress,” she replies.
“Take that one. Get it altered or just use the fabric, whatever you want.”
“Thank you!” As she hugs you, she lowers her voice to add, “You’re also young and beautiful and famous… Tim doesn’t always deal well with people who are different than him.”
You nod, but you don’t believe her. You’ll only be with Tim Bradford for a few days anyway. It shouldn’t bother you… but it does.
✯✯✯✯✯
“We’re changing things around,” Nyla announces as she enters your room. “Lobby’s swarming with paps, but there’s also a crowd of men screaming your name.”
“So, what are you doing?” you ask.
“Bradford is taking point. He’s got some big plan that, and I quote, ‘no will catch on to.’ I won’t repeat the rest of it for your sake, though.”
“Grey is making him do it?” you guess.
Nyla hums, neither a yes nor no, but you know the answer. When he barges in a moment later, you stop talking, preferring not to give him another reason to hate you.
“Get your stuff, we’re leaving,” he demands.
You nod, walking into the suite's bedroom to gather your things. Part of you wants to know what Nyla and Bradford will say behind your back, but you’re also terrified that Nyla is just better about hiding her true feelings.
✯✯✯✯✯
“What is your problem?” Aaron demands. “She’s in danger and you’re not helping any!”
“This isn’t the job I signed up for. I am a Metro Sergeant but I’m stuck on- on princess protection duty! She’s just a kid who sings,” Tim answers.
“It’s about her age then,” Nyla repeats.
“No! Well, yes, but she- what makes her special enough for a team like this? Why does she get a real protection detail?”
“Tim,” Lucy says quietly. “Have you listened to her music?”
“Why would I?”
“Her specific genre, what she sings about has made a lot of people angry,” Aaron explains. “Those paparazzi weren’t there for a ‘Taylor Swift is in LA’; they were looking for a much bigger story.”
“Spit it out, Thorsen.”
“Plenty of people have reason to try to kill her.”
Tim falls silent, looking at Nyla. She tilts her head in a ‘we can’t prove it but it’s probably true’ gesture. He looks back toward the bedroom.
“Look, I’m doing my job. I’ll be civil and that is it,” Tim concedes.
“That’s all we’re asking,” Lucy replies. “We’ll be in the neighborhood. Nothing can happen to her with our protection, right?”
“Right,” Aaron and Nyla answer, looking at Tim.
“Right. Because it is our job, nothing more.”
You come out with your single suitcase, waiting until Tim takes it from you to speak. Thanking him softly, you listen to his quick explanation that you’ll be staying with him rather than Lucy, and the rest of the team will be patrolling nearby in case of an emergency.
“You’ll be fine,” Lucy promises. “And thank you again for the dress. I can’t imagine how much that cost and I can’t thank you enough.”
Tim’s brows furrow, but he doesn’t ask any questions. Wondering why someone in your position would be willing to give away an expensive dress days before a concert confuses him. Tim reminds himself that he can’t start caring.
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim’s house is incredibly comfortable. You can tell that he doesn’t want you here, and when he disappears into a back room with his phone and earbuds, you assume it’s his way of getting as much space as he can. Pulling your songwriting journal from your bag, you start writing, disappearing into the emotions and the story you want to share. Time falls away when you’re writing, and you don’t hear Tim reemerge or walk to the doorway before you.
Tim clears his throat, and you look up from your place on the floor. You look small and as young as you are, sitting on the carpet and leaning against the bed with a journal in your lap. Tim has something to say but nearly forgets what it is when you look up at him through your lashes.
“I will admit that I judged you prematurely, and I’m sorry,” he begins.
“It’s okay,” you offer.
“No, just, let me finish. Please?” You nod, and Tim continues, “I thought you were just an entitled kid who found a way to convince the cop from the airport that you needed special attention. Craved it, whatever. And you’re just, you’re young and famous and that confuses me. I don’t know what life is like for you, I can’t relate to any part of that fame.”
“I can’t relate to your life either, but I didn’t shut you out because of that,” you whisper.
Tim licks his lips before speaking again. “I’m sorry. Aaron told me that you sing about- that you- uh-“
“Write songs for people who will never relate to the love songs or the ‘thank God for my parents’… who will never relate to a song on the Billboard 100 or feel protected by a song? Yeah.”
“And I diminished that. I listened to your last album-“
“That’s what you were doing back there?”
“Don’t- don’t laugh at me,” Tim replies, finally smiling. “It was really good. And I truly am sorry.”
“Consider it forgotten.”
You raise your hand, and Tim chuckles as he shakes it. He sees the nearly full page of your notebook and leans down. You slam it closed, and he shakes his head at your sudden movement.
“They’re private until they’re available on iTunes and all major streaming platforms.”
“Got it,” he replies, mock-saluting. “And, just so you know, I needed songs like this as a kid. Still do, so thank you.”
✯✯✯✯✯
Throughout the next 48 hours, Tim ebbs and flows. One moment, he’ll talk to you for an hour straight, but by that afternoon, he won’t even look in your direction. It’s dizzying, and you don’t realize how much you’re thinking about it, about him, until you reach the last page of your notebook.
“Ready for the show?” Lucy asks, dressed in an event security uniform.
Shrugging, you run your finger over the edge of your journal.
“Songs?”
Lucy sits beside you, offering a hand. You lay your hand over hers, taking a deep breath.
“I thought I was making progress with Tim. He apologized and he was being nice to me and then it all stopped. Like we backslid. And, for some reason, I can’t stop thinking about it.”
“Sounds like you don’t want to,” Lucy says softly. “Maybe you should talk to him.”
“I can’t.”
“Then maybe you should sing to him.”
Laughing, you argue, “That would be even worse.”
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim is humming while he and Aaron stand outside your dressing room door.
“You listened to her music,” Aaron accuses, placing the song.
“Yeah. Even apologized,” Tim answers.
“You haven’t talked to her at all today. Did something- oh my- did you kiss her?”
“What? No, I didn’t kiss her, and keep your voice down! I had to pull back.”
“Why?”
Tim doesn’t answer but glances over his shoulder to your door.
“You like her.”
“No- maybe.”
“You need to tell her. We don’t know when or if she’s leaving.”
“That’s why I can’t tell her. If she’s leaving tomorrow there is no point, and if she doesn’t know, telling her could influence her decision.”
“What about the effects of not telling her?”
✯✯✯✯✯
You open the door suddenly, and Tim and Aaron turn toward you quickly.
“Whoa!” Aaron exclaims.
“You look beautiful,” Tim says, sending you a small smile.
“Thank you. All of you, for everything these last few days.”
“Break a leg,” Lucy says, waving as you walk toward the stage entrance.
“Everybody in position? This job isn’t over yet,” Tim radios.
✯✯✯✯✯
You notice Tim standing in the wings during your second song. As if your energy has been zapped from you, you fight not to collapse. Tim’s eyes narrow as he watches you.
“Instrumental,” you tell your bassist, who communicates it to the rest of the band.
Rushing toward Tim, his eyes search your face. His hands raise to your sides as he waits for you to speak.
“I-“ you stop, turning off your microphone. “I thought something was happening.”
“When?”
“No. Between us. I thought maybe there could be something there but then you stopped talking to me. What happened?”
“You’re supposed to be singing right now.”
“I have a journal full of songs about you, Tim!” you exclaim. “I can’t come out here and sing without knowing if those ideas have a chance of coming to life!”
“You wrote songs about me?”
“Tim,” you beg. “Just answer the question.”
“Nothing happened. We’re too different and I didn’t want to push too hard.”
“Who gets to decide if we’re too different? Because I disagree.”
“Don’t tell me you have a song about it, I’ve heard that one.”
You sigh, beginning to accept that Tim is skirting around a rejection.
“You can do better,” Tim says quietly. “No point in me showing you how I feel when you could have any man you wanted.”
“I don’t want any other man!” you yell over the music.
Tim’s eyes widen, and his hand leaps to your waist to your mic pack, turning it off and tugging your microphone down.
“Thorsen, your badge is mine,” he grumbles.
Tossing the microphone onto a nearby chair, Tim raises his hands to cup your face.
“Are you sure?”
“I’ve been sure since you said you didn’t want to deal with me.”
“That’s- I don’t think I put it like that.”
“No, you said you were a cop not a bodyguard. But I think you’re a pretty good bodyguard too.”
“I tried not to,” Tim admits. “Tried not to feel this way, I mean. But every time I see you, it’s like I see another part of you. You’re beautiful, and your music is beautiful, and I’m sorry for pushing you away and being-“
“Worthy of a breakup song?”
Tim sighs, leaning toward you. “You need to finish your concert.”
“Promise to be here when I’m done?”
“I promise.”
You grab your microphone, hooking it on quickly before waving at Tim and returning to the stage.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Aaron,” Tim radios, “Did you turn her mic back on?”
“Those things are tricky,” Aaron replies.
“Then maybe you should go talk to the tech department and stay out of my sight.”
“Yes, sir.”
✯✯✯✯✯
The lights dim, and as the crowd applauds, you run to Tim, crashing into him as you hug him tightly. His arms wrap around your waist, smiling as he congratulates you for your first sold-out show.
“You’ll come to the next one?” you ask.
“Only if you sing one of those songs you wrote about me.”
“I’ll sing them all. Even if you’re the only one in the audience.”
Tim cups your cheek, pressing his palm against your cheek as he pulls you in. His kiss is the opposite of earlier; a look that sucked the energy from you has become a kiss that breathes life and love into your very being. You pull back before leaning against Tim and can’t hear anything except your shared heartbeat.
“I think they’re calling for you,” Tim whispers.
The muddled yells of “Encore! Encore!” greet you, but you’re warm and happy in Tim’s arms.
“I don’t want you in my audience,” you correct. “I want you at my side.”
“Then I should be easy to find. Knock ‘em dead. Again.”
Tim kisses you again, and you credit that as the reason your encore was better than your performance (LA Times’ words, not yours).

Now and then when I see her face She takes me away to that special place And if I stare too long, I'd probably break down and cry
- Guns N’ Roses, “Sweet Child O’ Mine” (1987)
Tumblr media
Tucson || July 1988
It didn’t matter what Colum or the label or anyone else said – all recording studios looked the same on the inside.
Sure, there were always small differences. The really comfortable couches at Sound City in Los Angeles. Electric Lady in Manhattan still had the really cool paint scheme that Jimi Hendrix himself had designed. Muscle Shoals in Alabama oozed coolness.
But this studio, whose name he couldn’t and didn’t care to remember, nestled down a back street in Tuscon was…tired.
Almost as tired as Jamie.
The “quick three week tour” had stretched to eight weeks, with no end in sight. Theater shows had been upgraded to arenas. Playing to thousands and thousands of ecstatic fans. Pouring their hearts out night after night after night, and squeezing in radio promos and sound checks and business meetings during the day.
Fucking exhilarating.
Everybody wanted a piece of Print – their music, their story. Jamie still hadn’t granted too many interviews this tour, but the press ate up every word he said about sobriety and music and forgiveness. Insatiable for details about the woman he had met in rehab, and written all the new songs about, and refused to name publicly.
Print was making more money than they knew what to do with. The label had sprung for a private plane, and nobody in the band missed the rickety and smelly tour bus (except Claire, because it was still all so new to her, which Jamie added to the list of thousands of reasons why he loved her). Their hotel rooms were bigger. Catering in the dressing rooms was much nicer.
Fucking exhausting.
So many people wanted a piece of Jamie every day. Ian and Angus, to run through the new material that just kept pouring out of them. Colum, to talk ticket sales and adding second and third nights in each city. The suits from the label, who kept finding them in Dallas and Kansas City and Detroit, slapping Jamie’s back and pushing terrible ideas for duets with pop stars or contributing to a movie soundtrack or pleading to do the acoustic set in a special for MTV.
And on top of that, some dirtbag reporter from the National Enquirer had figured out who Claire was, somehow got a hold of her personnel file from the hospital, and tracked down her shitty ex-husband for an exclusive interview. Splashed her life all over the tabloids, complete with very grainy photographs of the she and Jamie together, holding hands, on a rare day off in Nashville when he took her to a few honky-tonks. The one saving grace was that thankfully, nobody at The Ridge had said a word about anything about her time there, or the time they shared together.
Claire took it all in stride. She always understood. Holding him in the bathtub of their suite in Denver as he shook from another panic attack. Smiling over a three AM hamburger at a diner in Topeka. Whimpering as he came off stage in Atlanta, sweaty and keyed up from singing about her, hoisting her in his arms for a long kiss against the lighting equipment at side stage, heart stuttering to see his eye makeup smudged against her cheeks.
The man he was on the last tour – unhappy, unfulfilled, so deep in an addition he didn’t care to acknowledge – would not recognize the man he’d become on this tour.
“In ’86, we played seventy eight dates. We had a number one record. I bought my house, and my motorcycle, and my car.” Quietly he sipped coffee in their suite in Seattle, watching the city wake up, running his thumb over Claire’s shoulder as she settled against him in front of the window.
“You had everything you had always dreamed of.”
He snorted. “I was a mess. All I could think about during every show was how to find a girl or a bottle or a baggie as quickly as possible. And the crew would always do that for me.”
The crew respected his – and Claire’s – request for no drugs or alcohol backstage this tour. What the techs and roadies and production crew did on their own time, in their own hotel rooms, with whoever they wanted to – Jamie didn’t care. But for everyone to help with, to respect, his sobriety was a gift. And he never stopped saying thank you.
“If only those reporters could see you now – Jamie Fraser swaggering off stage for an Evian.”
He smiled. “And to kiss this beautiful doctor who for some reason keeps following him around. Because he loves her, more than any man has ever loved any woman.”
He wanted to provide for her. To shelter and protect her. To never leave her side ever again.
She didn’t need him to do any of that, of course. They’d talked about it many times. But she wanted him to do that. And the fact that she chose him, kept choosing him…that was why they kept going. Kept each other sober. Kept holding each other up.
They’d agreed that this time on tour was for her to understand this part of him – and to help both of them decide how and where they would live once the tour was done.
Which is why the radio silence from Boston, four weeks after mailing the letter from Philadelphia asking, politely, just what the hell was going on…was so fucking crushing.
The stress of that – and the grind of touring – did make it just a bit more difficult every day.
Thankfully Colum had scheduled a week-long break at the end of the month. Angus was already planning a trip to Aruba with the two groupies, who truth be told had grown on the rest of the band. Ian was planning to spend the week with his wife, Jamie’s sister Jenny, and their kids.
And Jamie and Claire – well, they’d be getting married.
Only a few people knew, with good reason. Ian and Jenny, of course. Alec and Faith, in New York. Colum. Dougal MacKenzie and his wife Gillian, who had helped both Jamie and Claire so much at The Ridge. Uncle Lamb, who would officiate. And Claire’s friends Joe and Gail Abernathy, who had quite literally saved her life by getting her to The Ridge in the first place.
The service would be simple. Exactly what they wanted – what they needed.
And after that…well. They would truly be husband and wife.
But there was a lot to do – a lot to take care of – between now and then. Not the least of which was, wrapping up this recording session.
The time laying down acoustic tracks in Philadelphia last month was very well spent. They weren't so rusty. But the guys were eager to hear the songs in electric form. And since they were in Tucson, and Colum knew Bobby Higgins – who not only owned this studio, but who had also produced that really killer Ratt album in ’84…
“OK, Jamie.”
Jamie took a deep breath, and looked up through the glass at Bobby, hunched over the console in the control room.
“Ready for take two?”
Jamie looked left, to Angus – and right, to Ian.
“Yup.”
“OK – this is In My Veins, take two.”
Jamie grit his teeth.
Caught Claire’s eye in the control room.
She smiled.
He relaxed.
Angus counted in on his drumsticks, and then started the heavy beat like they’d discussed.
Four bars – and Jamie’s guitar and Ian’s bass joined in.
--
“That was really, really great, Jamie.”
Claire handed him a new bottle of water, cap already twisted off. He drank it in four deep gulps.
“I know you’re not shitting me. So thank you.”
Quickly she looked over her shoulder – Angus’ cheeks were being loudly kissed by the groupies, and Ian played around with his bass, and Colum and Bobby were deep in conversation in the control room.
“Where are you?”
She had pulled him away before, when the panic attacks were coming, and he knew she’d do it again right now if needed.
He wiped his mouth with the back of a sweaty hand. “About an eight out of ten.”
“Do you need a break?”
He met her eyes. “I need a meeting. Been thinking about my old friend Jack Daniels all day.”
“Did you see something?”
He sighed. “I’ve only played electric a handful of times since I got back from The Ridge.” He looked down at the gorgeous Stratocaster strapped across his chest, fist flexing. “I got this guitar because the black tone and white trim matched the label on the bottle. Stupid, I know. But it’s all I could think about today.”
“Not stupid. We’ll deal with it. You should call Alec. And I can find you a meeting.”
He leaned in, and kissed her forehead. “I love you. I’ll call him. And I need to sell this guitar.”
She nodded. “We’ll find a charity.”
He kissed her again. “I love you.”
She kissed him quickly, and returned to the control room.
Grateful that Jamie had turned away to talk to the guys, when Colum tapped her on the shoulder, and slid over an envelope postmarked Boston.
“Mail call. Do I want to know?”
She shook her head, folded the letter, and slid it into the back pocket of her jeans. “Is there a Yellow Pages I can borrow?”

LIFE UPDATE/SUCCESS STORY
btw.... totally forgot that it’s been a PHAT MINUTE since I’ve been on here. Let me give y’all a little life update:
I live in Nashville now. I’m a full time singer/songwriter/producer and am constantly co-writing and am producing new songs like every other day. I signed my lease in December, not even a month after coming here for a business trip (to do gigs) and deciding to look at apartments with my mom for funzies🤪. I’m literally in the perfect location where I can walk everywhere, have only had to fill up for gas three times since I’ve lived here, AND my building is specifically catered towards creatives (we even have this thing called “Lobby Jams” once a week for musicians to play their music)! AND GET THIS... I was looking through my scripting journal one night not too long ago... I wrote that I was living in my first apartment by myself in Nashville IN OCTOBER. OCTOBER.
I WROTE IT DOWN, FORGOT ABOUT WRITING IT DOWN, AND IT HAPPENED.
WHAT!???!?!?
AFFIRM AND MF PERSIST BESTIES. AFFIRM. AND. MF. PERSIST!!!!

2023 fic roundup! Thanks for reading my stuff this year!
Below is all of the fic links, summaries, and any additional notes (in chronological order) from yours truly:)
NPC Bdubs: an in-game explanation to why Bdubs didn’t upload his Limited Life pov- Cleo notices that Bdubs is acting a little weird, almost like some kind of non-playable character.
The Coral Kids’ Keeper: Martyn and Scott live out on a island on the sea on the Limited Life server, and a sea creature that calls himself xbcrafted take interest in them. He protects them. He is here to protect them, right? (Dm note: oh my goddd I love this one still I love the horror at the end [I may just be biased to xb tbh lol])
Impulse’s post-death affirmation: Impulse got second place in Limited Life, and Skizz is so proud of him.
Clock Full of Love: Impulse gave Bdubs a clock in the beginning of Limited Life. At the end, Cleo adds her own touch to it.
Grian and Scar’s punishment: It all started when Grian and Scar touched his (Doc’s) redstone (tunnel bore). Their punishment? Zombiecleo scolding them.
Talks of Adoration on the Tower of Team TIES: Etho and Impulse have more in common then they think, and reflect on it all one sleepless night in the Team TIES base
Big and Handsome God Has A Big Sad: the empires s2 server can’t be empty, right? Sure, Joel hasn’t seen anyone in forever, but people still love him, surely, right? They wouldn’t all leave him. They wouldn’t. Right? (Dm note: this idea wasn’t executed as well as I would have liked, but I really like the crumbling reality vibes of this one)
Cuddling with the Homies: Grian, Impulse, Scar, and Skizz playing Sons of the Forest. They get one tiny-ass tent to all sleep in. It’s if the “only one bed” trope was four dudes being idiots in the woods in a tent.
I know how to keep you warm;)): the new life smp folks wonder if Chillager Martyn will freeze up if he gets flustered. Scott is up to the task. It’s all silly.
Copper Pearlo takes on The Button (2): Grian and Mumbo stumble upon copper golem Pearl
One Year Later: Double Life ended one year ago (when I posted this fic lol). Impulse makes Bdubs another clock
The CuteGuy Who Stepped Up: Scar needs a CuteGuy sidekick, and Grian does not want to be a sidekick in the slightest. Enter Joe Hills from Nashville, Tennessee. (Dm note: the CuteGuy main character was decided by a poll. This is also my second most-liked fic of 2023)
The Slime Code: Gem is a slime in New Life! She calls Jevin on Hermitcraft to ask about any slime rules she now needs to follow
A Dream of Pink: Joel has a dream of showing a pretty girl with pink hair (who roasts him) his hardcore world builds. She seems familiar…
3rd Life x NightVale: the radio transcript when Cecil Palmer from the town of NightVale interviews a strange man with a red sweater and split knuckles and keeps talking about something that happened in a desert. (Dm note: love this one, definitely caters to a very specific audience, but this one shows up in my notifs almost every day. I think I did a good job at the ad breaks and such.)
Sacrificial Impulse: Grian, Scar, and Skizz died while hunting ghosts with Impulse. Impulse wants to bring them back, no matter the cost. Also, EvilNotion is the ghost hunters’ boss.
xB’s Revenge- a Blood on the Clocktower story: based on the first session of hermitcraft’s BOTC, Iskall accuses xbcrafted of being the demon, and xB becomes the first innocent to die. But xB sticks around after death, and wants the sweetest revenge on Iskall. (Dm note: this one is long as hell but man the concept was so good. Drowned!xb is so good.)
Bdoubledown? How Cute: a brief conversation between Impulse and Skizz about Impulse’s brand new soulmate in Double Life
GIGS gets another G: Gem is jealous that Grian, Impulse, Scar, and Skizz are hunting ghosts, and wants to join in. Pearl, local odd woman, has a way. Possession is fun among friends! (Dm note: this is the most liked fic of this year, which is definitely not what I expected lol)
The Dungeon Is Hungry: Hypno thinks all the superstitions around the Decked Out 2 dungeon are stupid. That is until everything goes sideways and Cub is covered in sculk and pointing a sword at him down in level 4.
The Impossible Task: Martyn gets a very simple, two-word task in Secret Life: find RenTheDog. But Ren isn’t here… right? (Dm note: when I thought of this idea I literally said “ouch!” in my head lol)
GIGGS Hunts a Ghost!: the GIGGS crew gets called on by Zedaph to find and capture evidence of a ghost he claims he has seen haunting hermitcraft. (Dm note: the b-plot grian and zed rivalry is so funny to me idk why I decided they hate each other lolll)
A Moment of Peace: Martyn and Cleo are estranged soulmates in Double Life, and they take a moment to drink some tea and talk about what soulmate they’d like to have if they had a choice.
It Feels Different Now (and that’s a good thing): Pearl has to hurt people on the Secret Life server as part of her task, but she takes no joy in it now. She harkens back to what has changed between Double Life and now.
Jimmy’s Grave: Cleo made Jimmy a grave before he died in Secret Life. He did end up dying that very day, and a mourner comes by his grave when it’s all said and done.
Red: Pearl’s favorite color is red. She is made to be a red name, even when she’s not.
Becoming the Villain of the Server: (secret life) Scar digs up Jimmy’s grave to take his spine, to sell it to Joel, pretending that it’s Lizzie’s. Hey, what else is a man to do? (Dm note: this one fucks so hard, i love how fucked up the idea of it is, what Scar would have to do to make it happen. Eating this.)
From One Lonely Winner to Another: Scar wins Secret Life. Sunflowers grow from his skin to be with him as he goes to succeed the final task. (Dm note: another one I love, I just love the aesthetic of it all.)

3 Brunch-Inspired Meals Perfect for Workplace Catering
What is brunch? Is it breakfast? Is it lunch? Why can we have brunch at 2 p.m. and still call it brunch? Brunch is, of course, that nebulous meal that can fit somewhere between breakfast and lunch—and sometimes after lunch—and includes food from both. It’s the kind of meal where you can find bacon and eggs alongside a club sandwich.
Tumblr media
It’s also the kind of meal that’s easy to have catered, which is good news for all the offices out there full of people who love brunch. Catering Wilmington NC, Nashville TN, or team brunches anywhere can be a great way to celebrate special occasions and big wins. Here are a few brunch options to add to your office catering rotation! Bring Your Appetite to the Breakfast Buffet Breakfast? More like break-feast! And don’t let the name “breakfast buffet” fool you, either—many caterers who offer a breakfast or brunch buffet tend to offer it all day long. They know people love their brunchy foods. The breakfast buffet is the kind of catering package you can get when you want to go all out at the workplace. The breakfast buffet features all the essentials in one convenient package, so you don’t have to pick and choose. For example, if you’re catering Wilmington NC offices, a caterer like Middle of the Island can whip up a breakfast buffet complete with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, hash browns, biscuits, fresh fruit, and a beverage option. Saddle Up for a Scramble The great thing about a scramble is it can contain many of the same ingredients as a breakfast buffet; the only difference is it’s all mixed up in one tray. Scrambles can be incredibly convenient. They’re easy to serve up and even easier to enjoy. They can come packaged in large, accessible trays and in a variety of flavors. Want a more traditional scramble? Not a problem. If you’re catering Nashville office brunches, you can get one with eggs, sausage, bacon, onions, and mushrooms, all topped with cheddar jack cheese from the regional chain Another Broken Egg Cafe. Want a scramble with a bit of kick? Try their Southwest Scrambler with eggs, chorizo, onions, tomatoes, and green chiles, topped with cheddar jack cheese. It’s even served with flour tortillas, guacamole, and salsa, so you could theoretically make a breakfast taco or burrito! Savor the Lighter Side of Brunch with a Bowl There are all kinds of brunchy foods that can easily make anyone’s workday. From breakfast burritos to pancake platters, there is an abundance of options. But sometimes, you and the rest of the team might be feeling like it’s a good day for something lighter. You want something that can fill you up without leaving you feeling overly full. The brunch bowl might be the answer. It’s another caterable option that can come in a wide assortment of tasty choices. For those catering Indianapolis office brunches, consider Everbowl. They have a menu full of items perfect for those brunchy days. Get a bowl with berries and granola, or get something with a bit more protein with a mix of nut butters. There are tons of customization options. About ezCater When it’s the middle of the workday and lunchtime hits, turn to ezCater. ezCater is partnered with over 100,000 restaurants and caterers across the United States. Submission (Re: People hating on him):
Anon, not being rude or anything, but wanted to give you an honest opinion and hopefully good response.
If someone’s first assumption about this whole thing is that people who are calling it PR are “hating”, then they are in the target group that this stunt is being catered towards. Especially when you look at Travis’ dating history, because oh look! that search shot up right after Taylor attended the game. lol
No one is hating on Travis. People who are and aren’t Taylor OR Travis fans are just calling out the blatant transparency of it. A host from The View called it a PR stunt. A popular sports host has called this a PR stunt.
People Magazine even said she “heard about the invitation”. So….she heard about this friendship bracelet story….shortly after learning about the invitation? Now, who do we think gave her the heads up about the invitation? Because didn’t she say during her Nashville show that she doesn’t Google herself but Scott told her about the bench named after her in Centennial Park? She was more than likely out of the loop about it until someone brought it to her attention. Because she doesn’t Google herself.
For example:
Patrick Mahomes said Sunday he hoped to meet her. Then he later said he’d met her before at the NFL Draft when it was in Nashville, which is true because that’s when she wore that rainbow colored dress/robe during Lover era.
However, it was also said that Travis/Taylor had gone on TWO double dates with Patrick and his wife…before she attended the game Sunday. So if he met her in passing at the draft, a double date means he had time for a conversation with her, right? But today he said he met her at the private dinner. lol
Travis was with his ex girlfriend, Kayla, for 5 years. Never blatantly made it a point to talk about her publicly even though people knew they were together and attended events together. Now all of a sudden, he’s openly talking about his personal life? On his own podcast and on Pat McAfee’s show? Taylor suddenly owns a Chiefs jacket when she’s only ever referenced the Eagles? She doesn’t even reference the Tennessee Titans. Lol
The cheat sheet incident? Who else in that suite would’ve needed such detailed notes (especially on what to wear to a football game? Unless you’re trying to figure out what to wear to not make it look too obvious). Assuming the people who are usually in his suite are friends and family…who have been to many of his games before (and would know things about the team and fanbase traditions)? His publicist was right behind her and made it a point to hop in Deuxmoi’s comments and say the cheat sheet wasn’t Taylor’s and that she was his publicist. Why? Because she’s paying attention to the demand for her client on a popular gossip blog.
Travis’ jersey sales suddenly going up 400%? When he’s a two-time Super Bowl winner? Heinz making a custom label (“seemingly ranch”) for a product (Kranch) that they’ve had on the market since 2019?
The NFL seeing a boost in ratings off this game against the now 0-3 Bears, a game the Chiefs SHOULD have won? When the Miami Dolphins dropped 70 points in their game?
The man JUST signed with CAA. He wants to expand his brand because he is about to be “old” in NFL terms. CAA is a talent agency. We all know that when celebrities sign with agencies, they are expected to open up about their private lives somewhat because that’s what the audience they are aiming to reach is interested in.
Adele dates (and may be married) to Rich Paul, who is LeBron James’ longtime agent. How often do you hear them speak about each other? How often do you hear LeBron James speak about Adele?
Last. Look at the picture on TMZ from their PRIVATE dinner. The picture wasn’t a sneak picture. Look at the positioning. Look how clear it is. Look how close it is. Taylor, who is talking to someone, would have seen the person taking the photo. There’s another couple in the background facing that direction who would have seen the picture being taken. Their body language is saying “act natural”.
She is allegedly attending the next Chiefs game on Sunday Night Football (which is a prime time game, btw) against….the Jets who are the home team. Watch how the things getting called out this week—- are “cleaned up” for that game and after.

Not Again (Sequel to Getting Her Back)
- Chapter 4
Tumblr media
November 3rd, 2018 Around three months had passed since the last threatening text Drew had gotten but he was vigilant. He had asked a police friend back home in Scotland to take a look at the texts and see if they could track who sent the texts but it led to a dead end. Every text and picture that was sent was from a different disposable phone each time so there was no way to trace it. Drew had put a safety plan into place with the nanny, she was too text him when she dropped off Quinn at school in the mornings and Quinn was too call him after she was picked up, the only people that could pick her up was Drew, the nanny, Stephen, and Stephen's girlfriend Erin since they lived in Nashville and could pick her up if they were in town. Everything was going well for them otherwise. Drew had dropped the title to Seth Rollins and was feuding with him, Quinn was adjusting well to school and had even made a couple friends in her Art Guild. She was looking forward to the holidays that were fast approaching, Drew's family from Scotland was flying in for the first time in three years and she was excited to see them. Quinn was also excited because she got to travel with her dad this weekend since the house shows were in neighboring cities, tonight's would be close to home in Nashville. She was hoping her dad would win tonight because it was also the 6 year anniversary of his mom's death and it would be a nice tribute to her. She was only 7 years old when she passed away but she had many memories of her that she would cherish.
"Quinn we got to go sweetheart! We're running late!" Drew yelled from the kitchen, "I'm ready!" Quinn said as she ran down the steps, "It's really cool I got a ringside seat tonight" she said as they walked out to the car, "Yeah I figured since we were the home city tonight, it would be a lot more fun for you. Not to mention your friend and her mom will be at ringside with you" he said. "I hope you win tonight dad, it'd be a really nice tribute to Nana, it's been 6 years today" she said, "Yeah it has, it's hard to believe, feels like only yesterday" Drew said getting tears in his eyes, "Don't cry dad, I'll start crying too" Quinn said, "Sorry sweetheart I still miss her a lot, but you remind me of her in so many ways" Drew said trying to wipe away the tears "But you know, I will win tonight, I'll win it for her" he said proudly. Quinn smiled, she looked out the window and started daydreaming on the way to the arena.
Drew and Quinn arrived 30 minutes later, the show wasn't supposed to start for another two hours. Quinn ran to catering to get her some dinner while she waited, one of the crew team members would walk her to her seat when it was time. She ran back to her dad's locker room, ate her dinner, and watched some shows on her IPad until it was time for her to go take her seat. 10 minutes after she was seated her friend and her mom sat down next to her, they were all excited for the show. Her dad's match was third on the card, even though he was a bad guy she was still gonna cheer for him. Finally about 45 minutes later, her dad's music started playing, Quinn, her friend, and her friend's mom all cheered for him while everyone else booed. Drew circled inside the ring doing his poses, he spotted Quinn and gave her a thumbs up noting he saw her. Seth Rollins came out next and everyone cheered for him including Quinn, she knew he was fighting her dad but Seth was an awesome dude and she couldn't help but cheer too. About 10 minutes into the match, someone came up behind Quinn and tapped her on the shoulder. He was wearing WWE crew gear and he talked into Quinn's ear since it was loud from all the noise of the arena. "Quinn, I need you to come with me, your dad asked me backstage to come get you during his match, something's happened and he wants you in the locker room" the crew guy said. "Oh okay, yeah I'll go backstage" Quinn said in a confused voice. She told her friend and her mom where she was going and they nodded while they continued to watch the match. When Quinn and the crew guy got backstage, she noticed they were heading towards the parking lot instead of the locker rooms, "hey I thought my dad said we needed to go to the locker" Quinn was cut off by a needle pain in her neck and she fell unconscious right after.
Drew won his match against Seth Rollins, while everyone booed Drew looked around for Quinn but didn't see her, he casually walked over to Quinn's friend asking where she was, the friend gave him the same info Quinn had given her, saying she went back to the locker room. Thinking the noise got to Quinn, Drew didn't think much of it and he headed back towards the locker rooms. Once he got back there, Quinn wasn't there, he ran to catering to see if she was getting her some food but no sign of her, he ran back to the locker room to grab his phone to call her. He noticed however there was a new message from the unknown number, his blood ran cold, he opened the text. It was a picture of Quinn at ringside watching his match, the caption read "She was right under your nose and I got her". Drew immediately started panicking, he broke out into a cold sweat, his mind racing, before he could do anything his phone rang, it was the unknown number. Before Drew could say anything, he heard a thick country accent answer first "Been a long time Drew, guess you're wondering why?"

Note
And one last thing, maybe she took out long live and put in bdilh because she's sick of catering to you "vipers who dress in empath's clothing" who after so many years still refuse to believe what she's telling and showing you if it's not in a Daily Mail article or a deuxmoi post full of dirty insider secrets shared by so called sources that are so totally close to her (which you should believe blindly because it's in an article, said by other people, not in her own art and her own words).
not you "and another thing"-ing me
yes bestie, i am a "viper" dressed in "empath's clothing" and proud!! go off!! and what do you think should be considered credible? taylor personally coming out to talk about her dating life to tabloids? yes it's true that some of these articles fabricate but the ones that are the most well-known and acclaimed like people magazine and entertainment weekly do in fact receive statements from her PR team that can be considered credible, and those statements include and are not limited to taylor having been romantically involved with matty.
and like i said in my other post, if you ignored articles, there are several appearances of them together: at matty's concert, coming out of the studio, matty flying to taylor's concert in nashville, that are all 100% irrefutable!! and we can use those to judge her character
and if she's sick of catering to me, then i'm sick of catering to her extremely poor choices, and am more than happy to be considered a "judgmental creep" and someone who's "bitching and moaning" by her.
