A mirco ivory ring with a harbour scene, owned by the family of Count Magnus Stenbock (1665-1717)
He was a Swedish Field Marshal and Royal Councillor who had to surrender to the Danish King during the Great Northern War and was imprisoned as a result. According to family legend, he made the ring during his imprisonment. However, such works with micro ivory were not made in Europe before 1760. It is therefore more likely that someone in his family commissioned it.
