Well, It's almost like that basically, Eleazar is not the worst of the worst parents. He is in fact only stricter with mc to make mc stronger. What I can say more is that Eleazar is not purely bad or good, he is a father and he is a lord and commander, and he does care about mc, and he definitely doesn't want mc to die. This is something that I mentioned on the forum when someone asked me about it, and Eleazar loves mc, he genuinely cares about mc. What might be considered a little abusive is the extreme way of training and pressure that Eleazar put on mc, which is quite a lot, but this is also a pressure that is put on other heirs, although to a lesser extent in some cases.
The MC are the heirs of the most feared (or hated) house and also the child of Eleazar, he cares about MC as a father, but he also cares about MC as the lord of the house, he has the duty to teach everything he can to make MC be strong and a good leader for their house, both to protect MC (after all, MC will not always have Eleazar around to save their skin, as we see in the first chapter during the Wendigos' attack) and to make you (mc) strong enough mentally and emotionally in front of enemies and the court of nobles of the kingdom, and many of them hate, hold grudges or simply distrust and distrust very much the members of the MC's family, it is necessary that the MC be strong to survive in a world with people and things that can be so cruel to them and Eleazar knows this, he has been through many situations of hatred and things like that for being a descendant of Norton. Besides these facts, if we compare the childhood of Eleazar with that of mc, the mc's is a bed of roses in comparison, and also Eleazar could have lost mc together with Alexandra if he hadn't arrived in time for the invasion, it is also one more trauma to add.
I know it can be very abusive the hard way that Eleazar trains the MC, but think about it, at all times Eleazar wants the MC to be strong, to withstand the pressure, to survive, so much so that he bought an illegal creature and even handed over the most important sword of their family before the MC even had the right to have it. So the fact is that Eleazar is not a perfect father, but he tries to be a father while also having to act as a responsible lord. It is a middle ground that can be interpreted in two or more ways depending on one's point of view.

My unpopular opinion is that if Peter weren’t fat and ugly then Sirius/Peter would be an extremely popular and mainstream ship, while Wolfstar would be a rarepair and Prongsfoot would stay as it is now - because i see prongsfoot as a ship for people who love to see Sirius in a healthy and balanced relationship. Wolfstar and Sirius/Peter are/would be for people who love the drama and the emotional turmoil.
dude. DUDE. i fully agree with this. i think a large part of how peter is treated/used/characterised stems from his physicality. it's almost like a woke parallel to jkr's beauty morality politics.
i literally cannot even tell u how often i've been annoyed by the way peter gets treated by the marauder fandom, specifically. because yeah, i get not everyone's gonna like a snivelling rat but--the corner of the fandom that operates purely on fanon and has changed everyone's character? yeah, zero excuses there.
not just the fact that peter often gets zero romantic/sexual attachments (and lets not even talk ab the 'ace/aro hcs bc hes fundamentally unloveable/so ugly no one wants him') even in spaces where's he's redeemed, but even if he's still a bad guy, so what? this is the fandom that's casually redeemed regulus black, barty crouch, all the other assortment of DEs. i dont get why peter's always the one who gets left behind. (i mean,,,,i kinda do,,,but yeah, idk what their rationale is)
and then theres also the peter art oh my god. it just. there's nothing technically wrong with any of it, but the way peter--a canonically fat guy--is drawn (often very infantilised and non-sexually, even wehn everyone around him is thirst trapped up) vs say, lily--who's the hot new 'plus size' rep--who always gets to be slim-thicc, very fkn sexy, and just overall fun. it's just. it icks me out, ykno?
and then the relationships, of fucking course the ship would be more popular, dude. like, its classic enemies to lovers, classic passion and intensity that can fall on either side of the coin. u can play around a lot with it. and honestly, peter & sirius had way more interactions/moments/chemistry than remus/sirius, like that's my unpopular moment right there lmao
overall, yeah, i get what u mean and i second it. fat characters are not written the best bc its often just a facsimile of how irl fat people are treated and we all know how that goes.

you didn't like asteroid city??
asteroid city is a beautiful film, but i really didn't need to tell you that. you see 'directed by wes anderson' and you already know you're in for sweet, stylish cinematography, beautiful colour palettes and unique perspective.
my issue was that i just found it boring. the narrative as a whole, to me, felt like a collage of other anderson films all being done worse than their originals.
i'll also happily admit that i didn't really 'get' anything from the narrative. i like films where i can come to my own conclusion and have that be wildly different from other people, or even be seen as the 'wrong' reading of a film because at least i've had a personal experience. with asteroid city, i walked out of the cinema without really thinking twice about what i'd just seen. which was sad.
in my letterboxd review, i wrote "my most visceral reaction to any scene was the moment i first saw the actor who plays hugo from succession on screen" and that about sums up the depth of experience i had with the film.

I've seen a couple takes on techno being Like That because he went a little insane due to the voices as an embodiment of the blood god and usually we see the blood god as this indifferent if not malicious entity but consider this: BENEVOLENT, KIND, LOVING blood god who saw this feral little kid growing up on his own and decided to make it their conduit because they fell in love head over heels the way parents fall in love when they first hold their new bown baby. BG tried to make a well adjusted adult out of tech but he was never properly socialized before being adopted so he's Just Like That DESPITE the blood god's best efforts
I always love to portray the Blood God in a more possitive light. In mythology, gods related to blood are usually also gods of family, chidbirth, loyalty, victory, wine, fire, or even LIFE. That last one is fun if you contrast it to Phil being the patron of the Goddess of death.

The you have any headcanon about Perrine and The Croon?
Perrine has an affinity for skulls because of The Croon, and they’re mainly the reason why she likes to collect them
The Croon refers to her as “calf”
Perrine sometimes catches glimpses of a tall figure out of her window at night, standing among the distant trees, hidden by just enough shadow to make her wonder if she’s just seeing things
The Croon gifts her skulls, bones, and small dead animals
When people say The Croon is evil, she’s the first to jump to its defense
However, Perrine does have a healthy dose of fear for The Croon
She doesn’t know why this is
But there’s always a level of wariness she feels towards it
There was this one night…
It was cold. The wind was blowing. Branches brushing against the cottage were like clawing fingers on the walls, desperate to get inside.
Perrine woke up.
Or maybe she had never fallen asleep in the first place.
She couldn’t remember.
It didn’t matter.
She got up from her bed.
All around her, the moonlight bleeding in through her window pooled ghoulishly into the empty black eyes of her animal skulls.
It felt like they were all watching her.
At first, she had gotten up to get a glass of water. Her mouth was dry, and the space behind her eyes was uncomfortably warm. But at the same time, she was covered in goosebumps.
But then, she found herself drawn outside.
Grass crunched under bare feet.
She didn’t even flinch from the cold.
Like she was in some kind of trance, she found herself delving into the woods.
And then, she saw it.
The towering beast of feathers and bone. It stood among the trees, nearly obscured by darkness.
The Croon.
She was scared.
She wasn’t sure why she was scared. She based her whole image around this beast, after all. She wore the moose mask because of it.
And yet…she trembled.
And then, she spoke.
“What’s the point of you?”
She asked it without thinking. It was a question that had been brewing in her head for ages.
“I mean…you embody and represent chaos…”
The Croon tilted their head for a moment, as if considering the question. The quiet night air was tense.
“Chaos…is beautiful and destructive. It’s everywhere, and it’s all-consuming. It doesn’t need any apparent purpose. It merely is. It destroys and makes and changes…over and over again. That is what I represent. Change is necessary. Everything must die, and from the destruction, something new is born. After a wildfire, flowers will bloom from the ashes.”
“But people like the flowers. Not the fire.”
“Perhaps. But they need the fire. They need the chaos and the change. Even if it destroys them. There is no new life without death, and there is no death without chaos.”
“But, you still destroy things. Why can’t you have something new without destruction? Why change?”
“Destruction..is just part of the cycle. It’s a part of change. There is beauty in decay. Death and destruction can be…art. The changing of the seasons, the wilting of flowers, the withering fall leaves… Even the most positive change is destruction for something else. Destruction and chaos are required for rebirth, for evolution. Because of change, everything is different, and everything is unique. There are no two things that are exactly the same, down to the last detail.”
“My friend, Cole, lost their parents in a horrible way. Is that supposed to be beautiful? Or necessary?”
“…Perhaps not. Not all destruction is beautiful or necessary. But not all death is cruel or senseless either. After all…without death, would you appreciate life at all? When an animal dies, and it decomposes, the earth gains the nutrients it gives to grow new flowers and new grass. New life. Even a death as horrible and cruel as that can still give new life to the plants and earth around it. It is the same with humans. A death, even a cruel and horrible one, can lead to new life for the remaining family or loved ones…or to the end of a destructive, hurtful cycle.”
“Cole has suffered since their parents’ death. There was no hurtful cycle to break! It’s not fair!”
“Death isn’t fair.”
Its voice had dropped to a low, almost guttural growl that shook her to the bones. But its empty eye sockets still held an eerie sense of calm.
“Life…isn’t fair. People die. Families are torn apart, homes and villages are destroyed. It’s the nature of the world. It’s a necessary evil.”
“…I don’t want to be a necessary evil.”
