Taking my time to get to all these tag games because I was waiting to be on my laptop instead of answering on mobile :p

The last quarter of 2022 was quite rough on me and to wade through tough times it’s always comfortable to rewatch stuff instead of watching new ones, but this is good enough, I think. At least I’m making progress on my to-watch lists.

Watching (airing) 

Spy x Family second cour (can you tell, I’m obsessed with Anya? She’s my gremlin child <3)  

Bungo Stray Dogs season 4 (only one episode and I’m already in love with this season because I can see Odasaku again and young Fukuzawa. Also we waited four years for this!!!!!!) 

Blockbusters Netflix (started watching it because of Melissa Fumero but it got boring after a few episodes so I’m watching it slowly)

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War (loved the new animation, it was so gorgeous but they could have done better with the OSTs. the first 50 episodes of the original Bleach is still unmatched)

Knives Out: Glass Onion (my blog is slowly morphing into Benoit Blanc stan account)

Wednesday Netflix (I’m so happy they’re getting a second season <3)

Enola Holmes 2 (a bit draggy in the middle but it was alright.)

Alice in Borderland (my friend sent me a screenshot of a shirtless Yamapi. I’m sold.)

Russian Doll season 2 (Natasha Lyonne my love I’m so sorry I haven’t gotten around this yet. I’ve been busy teehee)

Boy For All Seasons

Eddie's holiday planning hadn't been pushed back when finals came up so it was no surprise he wasn't graduating again this year. He thought maybe he should give it a rest, Steve wouldn't be walking the halls with him come fall anyway and he's sure Steve's parents found him a nice college to go away to.

He had decided to drown his sorrows in a new record from the new mall when all his wildest dreams were answered. Steve Harrington was still in Hawkins and he was dressed as a sailor! This was too good.

"Hello, Sailor."

"Munson! What're you doing here?" Steve's mood seemed to improve seeing the older boy, Eddie guessed anything was better than this.

"Was hot, wanted ice cream, what're you doing here I would've assumed your dad would be shipped you off to college already."

"I didn't get in anywhere." Steve looked sad at this which wouldn't do.

"Well I'm for one glad you're still around, Stevie."

A very faint blush graced Steve's cheeks, Eddie took this as a win. As he left he could've sworn someone said "That's another check on the you suck side."

Armed with the knowledge that Steve was sticking around, Eddie's plans were back in action.

He wanted to do something big for Fourth of July cause he knew he'd get away with it. Maybe fireworks in the carpark and an Uncle Sam costume.

Eddie was so excited when the day rolled around, he'd been visiting the mall when he could but wasn't always brave enough to say hello to Steve.

Eddie had loaded his totally legal fireworks into his van and was practically vibrating with glee as he drove to Starcourt. However, all the joy inside him quickly left him as he arrived. Starcourt was ablaze with police and ambulances crowding the parking lot.

Eddie could barely process his legs moving as he jumped out of the van, heart in his throat. He doesn't think he took a breath until his eyes landed on Steve hunched over at the back of one of the ambulances.

Steve was covered in blood, his uniform seeped in it and his face busted up.

"Steve, holy fuck are you ok?"

"Eddie? You can't be here...Russians.... Billy....Dustin?" Steve mumbled his eyes not totally focusing on Eddie.

Steve seemed like he could barely hold himself up, Eddie grabbed the cloth that was slipping from Steve's grip and held him up by his shoulder.

"What happened, sweetheart."

"Hurts..."

"I know, Stevie, I'm sorry, I'm sure a paramedic will be back any second."

"You look funny," Steve giggled.

Eddie cracked a smile through the worry, "Yeah well had a whole little suprise for you."

"Bet I would've loved it."

Before Eddie could reply again a girl, covered in a lot less blood came up to them.

"I've got him, Munson."

"Buckley?"

Robin ignored him in favour of taking care of Steve, who's eyes were starting to slip close.

"You gotta stay awake, dingus, that paramedic said you've got a concussion, they're gonna take you to hospital, ok?"

Steve hummed a reply as he lent against her.

"You should get out of here before the cops try to talk to you, Eddie."

Eddie spared one last glance at Steve before nodding, Steve was safe for now and that's what mattered.

As he lay in bed later that night his plans for flustering Steve was overuled for his worry for them, what had Steve gotten himself into, what was he talking about Russians for, fire definitely doesn't cause bruises like that.

That night he dreamt about Steve laying hurt in Starcourt, when he woke up all he wanted was to go and check on him, he promised himself he'd keep a closer eye on him from now on.

Winter 2007

Steve wakes from fitful dreams to an empty bed and briefly panics. Even after twenty years, he’s still haunted by memories of the Upside Down. He still gets worried when he wakes up and can’t see Eddie. 

He pushes back the covers and gets out of bed, feet hitting the cold hardwood floors. He tugs a robe on to combat the cold and then opens the bedroom door. As soon as it’s open, he hears Eddie’s voice singing quietly and he relaxes. Steve pads softly down the hall to the living room. It’s dark, but he can see Eddie by the window, silhouetted by the streetlights. He’s rocking their daughter in his arms.

Steve leans against the entryway and listens to his husband sing in his soft, husky voice. “There’s a place I like to hide, a doorway that I run through in the night. Relax, child, you were there but only didn’t realize and you were scared. It’s a place where you will learn to face your fears, retrace the years, and ride the whims of your mind.”

The floorboard creaks under Steve’s foot as he shifts his weight, and Eddie stops singing. 

“Hey,” he whispers, looking back at Steve. Steve pushes off the wall and moves over to the window to join him, putting one hand at Eddie’s waist and the other on his arm by their daughter’s head. 

“How is she?” Steve asks quietly.

“She’s good,” Eddie murmurs. “She was crying, but she’s her father’s daughter so she went right to sleep when I started singing Queensrÿche.”

“What a good girl.”

Smiling, Eddie turns his head to kiss Steve. “Go back to sleep, baby,” he says, “I’ll be there in a minute.”

“Take your time,” Steve says. He bends over to press a kiss featherlight to their daughter’s forehead, then kisses Eddie once more before heading back to their bedroom. 

Before he closes the door, he takes one more look at Eddie. He’s started softly singing another song. Steve takes in the sight—his husband and his daughter. There are still nights when he wakes up screaming from nightmares, nights where he’s not sure if he’ll ever see the sun again. But nights like this when he gets to watch his little family that he’s always wanted and didn’t know if he would ever have, he feels so happy he could burst. 

On nights like this, life is beautiful.

To explain the middle fingers here, the other day I saw some bullcrap about how boys shouldn't wear dresses for Halloween so I kind of think if the Avengers were real they would be like celebrities and maybe have their own Instagram or Twitter or something so this is Bucky and Clint standing up for everyone's right to wear dresses, dammit. Gotta get their family Halloween portrait up to stick it to the idiots. To anyone out there that needs to hear it: go ahead and wear the dress if you want to!

(Actually, this could go with Clint as Elizabeth Swann as well. Maybe they did a whole goddamn photoshoot. Honestly, I think they are both stubborn enough to do it.)

Boy For All Seasons

It would be almost a month before anyone saw Steve Harrington around town, from whispers around the supermarket Eddie gathered Steve was still in hospital from his injuries. He wished he could visit him but their relationship was undefined, Eddie didn't know if Steve even thought of Eddie outside of their little game and didn't want an awkward exchange at the hospital.

Seeing the still slightly bruised boy at the arcade with his kids again felt like a breath of fresh air, Steve was ok. With school starting in a couple weeks Eddie was sad to think about having to go back without Steve around. That was until he spotted his favourite jock working the counter at Family Video, and just like that Eddie the Holiday Menace was back.

Eddie was drained from his first week back at school but with the long weekend came his next chance at flustering Steve. Eddie strolled through the Family Video doors that afternoon with a smile on his face.

"If it isn't my favourite laborers!"

Steve, who had previously been mindlessly straightening the candy bar, spun around at the sound of Eddie's voice.

"Eddie! What're you doing here?"

"Well I originally wanted to give you a gift for all your hard work but to my surprise you're actually working today."

"Yeah Keith is an asshole and we need to keep our job so, but you didn't need to get me a gift," Steve smiled softly.

Robin rolled her eyes behind the boys but they paid her no mind. Eddie pulled the little newspaper wrapped gift out of his pocket, this was it he was finally going to get Steve all blushy and bashful, he was gonna win and not go all speechless.

Steve unwrapped the gift to find a small collection of handmade pins for Steve's vest.

"Figured you should get to match, Buckley, and I wanted to thank you for all your hard work, Stevie."

"Stevie?" Robin mouthed.

"Why thank you Eddie," Steve pinned his gifts to his vest, "I do like to work very, very, hard." Steve leaned in to practically purr the words into his ear.

Eddie feels his face rapidly growing hot before he squeaks out, "Well you're welcome, bye!" Before running out the door.

He's pretty sure he heard Robin call someone disgusting but he moved to fast to hear who. Well, at least he wasn't speechless this time.
