question: do ppl ACTUALLY say things they don’t mean when they’re angry? or is that just an excuse after letting something true slip? i wouldn’t ever say something i don’t mean in anger, so the concept confuses me.
but something was said to me that is bothering me, though apparently was said in an argument and wasn’t meant. but i don’t rlly believe it wasn’t like, deep down true thoughts/feelings??? anyone have any insight? anyone say things they don’t mean in anger?
EDIT: this was a hastily worded post that i didn’t expect to get notes. this is a genuine question asked in good faith that i got a lot of amazing answers to!
also re: the many ppl saying “OP is lying about not saying things they don’t mean in anger because everyone does it”— i genuinely have never done that. if i say something mean while angry, i meant it. that’s literally why i asked this question and why the concept confuses me, because i wouldn’t do something like that so i wanted perspective from people who do it. idk why y’all can’t believe that lmao not everyone is as prone to anger and outbursts

sending positive energy towards everyone except for:
people who use adhd meds as a party drug, thus perpetuating the stigma that people who actually need adhd meds to function are just drug seeking which, as a result, makes it nearly impossible to get them without having to jump through multiple hoops.
people who think that having adhd is “omg so quirky 🤪” please for the love of everything just stop.
mosquitos.

Neurotypicals take drugs to experience everyday shit for neurodivergent people like “Bro I was so high I had to turn my tv down to taste my pizza” yeah that’s a Tuesday night for me

Visual ID: a meme format from the show The Office where a woman is holding two white cards out. She says “Corporate needs you to find the difference between this picture and this picture,” on one picture it has been edited to say “An autistic adult who just needs stuff written down and headphones sometimes,” and the other says “A literal 4 year old,” The second panel underneath had a picture of the woman who is labeled “(Some) Neurotypical’s” with the subtitle saying “they’re the same picture,” end ID.

when i say "i need to go the bathroom" and then am gone for 30 minutes i really mean "i am autistic and have to lock myself away somewhere i know i'll be undisturbed and look at my phone with headphones or else i will probably eventually start crying because im extremely overwhelmed and at my limit but trying hard to make no one notice"
typing this from the toilet.

It makes me upset that a lot of the conversation around nonspeaking and/or semispeaking people is run by fully speaking people, or speaking people who loose speech.
Neither have any right in those discussions.
I am partially referring to teachers, SLPs and other people who work with disabled people, but I am also referring to the autistic community online.
"I'm not nonspeaking/nonverbal but I think--"
"I am speaking, but I think that AAC--"
I am sorry, but I don't particularly care too much. If you are going to criticize, or gatekeep anything about AAC or being nonspeaking AS A SPEAKING PERSON, stop.
You are fully welcome to reblog from our community, or to encourage us, etc.
But you absolutely can not criticize or gatekeep anything about our community. You are not a part of this.
I have seen far to many polls lately, made by speaking people, gatekeeping parts of our community. I have also seen speaking people try to criticize, or advocate for the term "nonverbal" (if you are nonverbal, you are more than welcome to use that word! And you are valid! But if you are speaking, do not. Do not.)
Listen to us. LISTEN TO US.
We have thoughts, and opinions. Our voices matter more than anyone's when in the conversation about us.

I love talking about neurodivergency like it's some superstitious shit. Like "Why are you so focused on this hyperspecific side character from this piece of media?" "I don't know if I don't the autism gods will be mad at me and give me bad luck". That's usually what it feels like having neurodivergencies or mental health issues. You just have to do whatever your brain tells you or else. "Why can't you hear about this specific topic?" "I'll be cursed by the trauma gods." "Why can't you do your homework?" "I don't know the winds aren't blowing correctly today."

for anyone who thinks that adhd is some fun little thing where you just forget things sometimes and are hyper, here is what completing a household task (let’s say, for example, this task is to wash my laundry) looks like in my brain:
*sees laundry hamper overflowing* ok, i should probably wash my clothes, but first i have to…
take my laundry out of the hamper
transfer it to a basket
pick up the dirty clothes that spilled onto the floor
transfer those to the basket as well
pick up the basket
walk down the stairs
walk to the laundry room with the basket, past the kitchen
oh no! there are dishes in the sink, i better get to those now so i don’t forget *puts down laundry basket* let’s see, i have to…
open the dishwasher
see if there are clean dishes inside (usually there are)
take clean dishes out
put each dish away one by one
rinse each dish in the sink, then put it in the dishwasher
put dishwasher detergent pod into dishwasher
put rinse aid into dishwasher
close dishwasher
choose wash settings
start the dishwasher
wow! that took a lot of time, now i’m kind of hungry *forgets about the laundry basket’s existence and walks right past it*
HOURS LATER
*in bed* i feel like i’m forgetting something… oh well, must not be important!
thus, the cycle restarts.
doesn’t that sound exhausting? having to map out an entire list of steps just to complete one task? now imagine that your brain just does this automatically, it’s not even a conscious decision!
the mental toll is excruciating and we can’t even stop it from happening.
so, no, adhd is not just “sometimes forgetting things” or “being hyper” - adhd is a perpetual state of being unable to functionally execute and complete tasks without significant mental planning and labor.
