one thing that really fascinates me about alex is his devotion to art – and more specifically, how he chooses to get some inspiration from scientific works of what he aims to implement in his art. every time one gets to examine some of his lyrics, or even how he explains these lyrics in an interview, they can be greeted by some bits of actual scientific information. an example is how he named his taquería on the moon with the term “information-action ratio”, coined by the critic neil postman, and referenced it in the song four out of five, something that might also indicate an interesting articulation with postman's concept. the line “cute new places keep on popping up”, for example, can express his well-known sardonic discontent regarding the flood of information being generated and transmitted over and over and, as much as it seems visually appealing and does give the idea of benefiting from advanced technologies, it doesn't really add anything substantial to the receiver's critical thinking – and worse, it distances the information receiver from the sender in a communication channel, according to postman.

what i'm saying with this interpretation is, it's known that alex is enamoured with the idea of gathering a bunch of references and condensing them into a mixture of metaphors in his writing, but it's so thrilling how, at times, we can find some bits of science inside of it – and it's even more exciting, just like playing a puzzle game, to find these references and analyse them by doing a similar research to what he did to create his works.

As someone who has steadily kept up on almost all Watcher shows and side projects, this backlash really does come down to how out of touch the guys have become, even before making Friday’s announcement.

Ryan and Shane (certainly the biggest draw to the channel) got their start with lower-brow, boyish humor and riffing off each other. Can’t forget the capitalism-critical and “power to the underdog” attitude that resonated with so many fans early on either. Now though, if you watch/listen to Pod Watcher, it’s hard to overlook just how unrelatable they’ve become in recent years. Which is whatever—it’s not like we only consume media in order to intimately relate to hosts/characters—but it does mean they’ve lost something integral from the charm that netted them their initial success.

To add. If you watched their latest season of Too Many Spirits, they weren’t even funny, just trashed and off-putting, lol. Frat-style drinking by a backyard pool and Ryan overhand throwing bones at a neighbor’s dog for barking.

Maybe not as bad for Shane, but the egos have really grown uncomfortably outsized. And at some point I got tired of watching videos based around lavish over-indulgence. Even if Steven’s videos cost less to produce than Ghost Files (I assume), they clearly rub viewers the wrong way on principle alone.

All in all, and not to minimize their hard work in getting out the content that they do, I think the Watcher guys should’ve been much more careful in considering this move and its rollout.

For years, I’ve maintained a Patreon subscription to a separate and unrelated funny-guy trio (for the same monthly price Watcher Streaming is now asking). However. The group I subscribe to is more than situationally-funny-sometimes, and always come across as grounded, emotionally intelligent, and likable people. Which makes me want to see them succeed and help how I can (though I would still be able to access 95% of their content even without subscribing).

So yeah, idk. Steven Lim driving a Tesla and wanting a second one or whatever is kind of just the tip of the iceberg.

New information about Versions 2.2 and 2.3!

Version 2.2, as previously announced, is a mainline version, adding more to Chapter 3's plot, as well as Messa, whose name is now confirmed to be 北里基良 (possibly Motoyoshi Kitasato) from the list previously leaked by a bug. Messa is confirmed to be a Physical type Resist teammate! This also confirms he's a 5-star, and a Confidant

Version 2.3 will be an event version (P5 Collab), broken into three parts (2.3.1, 2.3.2, and 2.3.3). Haru Okumura and Futaba Sakura will be added to the game during these versions

"A series of semi-anniversary celebrations will also be held in the 2.3.1 version at the same time" (I assume "semi-anniversary" refers to the fact that the game will have been running for six months when that version goes live?)

Version 2.3.2 will add Tycoon, and a new Ice type Defense teammate with the name 芦谷真咲 (possibly Masaki Ashitani; also a name from the leaked list) will be added; described as simply "What kind of different story will this elegant and generous senior have?", but this character is also a 5-star and a Confidant (who will not be romanceable, implying it's a guy. Possibly Cherish?)

More information about Messa will be posted within the next few days; he is described as "This seemingly casual intern doctor also seems to have inner persistence."

Version 2.2's plot content: "How can Version 2.2 "Aria of Anger" find a "method" to save Mr. Katayama, and how will Riko-senpai fulfill her "promise"…"; it will include "Plot update for Chapter 3 of the main line, new area of ​​the palace "Power Plant", new main line boss battle"; it will last from September 12th - 26th, with a banner for Messa (as well as a continuing Bui banner)

Thank you love! It's something I'm trying to get used to, but I am coming around to opening up about these silly things to my friends again!
