Exclusive: The next Avatar animated series, featuring the earth Avatar after Aang & Korra, is coming in 2025 from Paramount and Avatar Studios
We have a ***HUGE*** Avatar News exclusive for you today.
It’s happening.
Avatar Studios is working on the next Avatar after Aang and Korra. An original animated streaming series set in the future after The Legend of Korra, following the next earth Avatar in the cycle, is coming to Paramount+ in 2025.
But there’s more. An animated movie featuring this Avatar and their era is coming to theaters in the years after the show comes out. (I can’t reveal more specific dates yet, but it won’t be an insanely long wait.)
Currently we don’t know how far in the future this Avatar’s era will be set, but a very rough approximation based on previous Avatars is that if it’s set ~100 years after Korra’s time, it will be in the Avatar world’s equivalent of our world’s present day.
2025 is going to be a HUGE launch year for Avatar Studios’ animated universe, with the adult Aang movie coming to theaters on October 10th, 2025, as well as this new series streaming in the same year. This isn’t a mistake on my part, they’re intentionally releasing both in the same year-- part of a much bigger plan. Currently it’s implied that the movie is Avatar Studios’ first project of any kind, which would imply that this series would come out after that, at the very end of the year, likely in November or December 2025. There could, of course, be delays, but they’re absolutely working on multiple projects in parallel right now.
This is the second Avatar original streaming series coming soon, with the live-action young Aang series premiering next year in 2023. Season 2 of live-action ATLA can be estimated for two years later in 2025 as well, joining the adult Gaang animated movie and next earth Avatar animated series to form the biggest year of Avatar EVER.
More news tomorrow.
(Note that the above artwork is an Avatar News mockup for illustrative purposes only, it’s not official and we have no idea what the next Avatar will look like yet.)

Okay can someone explain to me where people are getting the idea the next avatar after Korra will be a male one? Because people referring to the next one as such on an announcement about an Earth Avatar series set after Korra is just confusing as fuck.

finally FINALLY finished watching the legend of korra. it only took me LITERALLY ten years
#tbh lok doesn't make me feel the same way atla does but that isn't necessarily a bad thing#i wish there was more focus on martial arts and history but i understand why there wasn't#history and tradition was EXTREMELY important to aang in ways that it was NOT to korra#i also wish we had seen more silly things about korras childhood but again they were telling a different story so i understand why not#they introduced a lot of new things w this one and i think pro bending was my favorite#cause it was one of the few things that WAS focused on martial arts it was just focused on like. boxing and mma#which is REALLLY fucking cool to see#i have critiques about mako's character but watching him fight was always so much fun because he is straight up mma fighting#for that to be depicted in a show that focused heavily on traditional martial art is so cool to me idk#bolin did it too but earthbending didn't lend itself quite so visually for the same effect#i also ALSO wish the stuff with amon had lasted longer than one season#a big part of atla is that aang is working the whole show to defeat ONE enemy#it felt like there was a new big bad each season#if they went amon -> the red lotus -> the earth empire -> unalaq in terms of season progression#i feel like the stakes would've been paced better yknow??? like the fight against vatuu should've been a Big Fucking Thing#what do i know tho lol#anyway im very excited for the upcoming movie and also the next avatar series#apparently the movie was set to release in 2025 and the series after that but. we'll see

Sometimes the AtLA fandom laughs at Iroh for going back to Ba Sing Se, and that he didn't think about getting noticed.
In Zuko Alone we saw Iroh during the siege. He had brown hair, but when he let Zuko in to that war council, his hair was already fully grey. Movies, no, media in general has to make sure the audience knows who is who, so he wasn't changed that much, but irl? People don't go full grey that fast. It must have been like having his hair dyed and I'm pretty sure dyed hair only exists in the atla world as making your hair darker, not lighter. Peak disguise.
Which leads me. That EK soldier guy who recognised him in S1. Sorry not sorry he is my adult!Jet now. Seeing old faces everywhere, being paranoid, jumping at shadows. Of course he said it's General Iroh sitting in that pond! And then he reacted as he did, and EK soldier guy's mood went nyoom. Because This Time he is right. This Time he Actually captured General Iroh. And this won't be like with the guy two month ago or the other a month before him, no, this one is the real Dragon of the West! He just got a bit... relaxed, stomach-wise. Retirement does that to people.

Jiwu, the next Earth Avatar
Since I’m rewatching Korra and just finished the Kyoshi books, I finally got around to compiling my ideas for the next Avatar in the cycle - the Earth Avatar following Kyoshi: Jiwu, The Scholar! Partial inspiration for them comes from @maswartz and his post about Avatars after Korra. Enjoy!
Name: Jiwu (they/them)
Age: At least 18
Appearance: Lean, curly black hair, glasses, angular features, casual Earth Kingdom clothing or traditional Royal Library uniform
Birthplace: Earth Kingdom, exact location unknown
Operating Location: Omashu, Earth Kingdom
Occupation: University student, part-time library assistant at Earth Kingdom Royal Library, Avatar-in-training
Bending Abilities: Proficient in Earthbending, minor skill in Airbending; eventual master of all bending types and sub-bending techniques
Biography: The next Avatar in the cycle following Korra, and the second Avatar in the re-established cycle following the Dark Avatar Incident, Jiwu is a lifelong student, historian, and public servant who would much rather keep their head down than proclaim their existence to the world. They live a humble life studying at Omashu’s largest university - one of the most renowned in the Earth Kingdom - and working part-time as an assistant at the Royal Library, where they can continue to learn and help others at their own pace.
Jiwu skews much closer to Aang than to Korra on their opinion of their destiny, running from it rather than embracing their place as the Avatar. However, Jiwu also truly believes that the Avatar is no longer relevant in the world - an opinion formed through studies of previous eras, modern developments in technology and culture, continued relations with the Spirit Realm, and even further research into sustainable and consensual Spirit Tech… And admittedly, a healthy dose of the fear that led them to run away before and still lives on within them.
Jiwu is highly intelligent with an interest in historical events, but their withdrawn and antisocial nature prevents them from being the ideal student. They would much rather study on their own, keeping their nose in a thick tome, than help their fellow students and learn to make friends. Jiwu was discovered as the Avatar at a young age through the Earth Kingdom’s usual geomantic rituals, but they and their parents chafed at how they were hurled in front of the world and looked upon so soon.
The young Jiwu wanted to escape, and so their parents took them and ran, hiding from place to place around the continent and losing touch with their father and then mother until they finally felt that their pursuers had lost them. Though alone, Jiwu found themself in Omashu and studied their way into academy, proving quickly that they belonged with their intellect and diligence. Now they continue their studies into university, and their life is quiet and humdrum, but Jiwu prefers it that way.
However, being the Avatar comes with certain responsibilities that not even they can hide from forever, such as the damage that the advancing technology is causing to the planet and spirits, rogue elements that seek to disrupt the balance between worlds, and an irritating replacement Avatar that the world may just prefer a little more…
Jiwu’s journey will force them to grow from a student who would rather view objectively from the sidelines, to a teacher who can step into the world and direct it with their own hand. They will need to learn to trust others and accept their hands of friendship, and above all else, they will need to learn to care, to understand the value of their title and overcome their fear and apathy.
Friends and Companions: Jiwu’s growing list of friends and allies who with them form the newest Team Avatar:
Avinya: An Airbender monk who transfers into the university at the start of the series. A self-proclaimed ‘Avatar fangirl’ who eagerly devours any historical accounts and stories about previous Avatars, and whose fondness for the present-day ‘Avatar’ Hadano is a source of irritation for Jiwu. She is initially disappointed in Jiwu upon learning that they are the real Avatar, but comes to empathize with them as a person and not an idol, and becomes their close friend and Airbending mentor.
Roshek: A longtime classmate and acquaintance of Jiwu, not quite their friend but closer to them than most. A non-bender with a fascination for the martial arts, especially the forms used by benders. His parents expect him to inherit the family business when he grows up, but he hasn’t decided what he wants. Though not a bender, his knowledge of martial arts forms helps him teach Jiwu the proper stances for any type of bending. He has a bit of a romantic interest in Jiwu that they don’t know how to respond to.
Muro: Jiwu’s pet eelhound. Though she’s accompanied them since childhood, Jiwu and Muro are not particularly close at first, due to Muro’s independent streak and Jiwu’s not needing a strong bond with her like Aang and Korra with their steeds. In time, however, they will grow closer as rider and mount. Likes dragonfruit.
Hadano: Jiwu’s double and the official new ‘Avatar’, sponsored as such by the relevant parties after Jiwu’s escape ran on and they needed to present somebody. Unlike Yun, who in Kyoshi’s time was oblivious to his false status as the Avatar, Hadano and his backers are more than aware that he’s merely a stand-in - albeit one who, with the help of bleeding-edge Spirit Tech and the backing of some powerful spirits to mimic the Avatar’s impossible feats, is an impressive replacement in his own right. He has an unsteady relationship with Jiwu, who’s grateful to him for serving in their place but thinks he’s too ‘perfect’ to get along with. Still, he thinks of them as a friend, although whether that lasts or not is a very important question…
Other Notes:
Jiwu is constantly losing their glasses, usually as the result of whatever mess they’ve gotten involved in recently. (Although sometimes it’s because they used the metal and glass for bending.) They need many spares.
Jiwu’s character and development continues the grand tradition of each Avatar starting as the opposite of what the world needed - as stated above, an objective student and bystander rather than a teacher who can instruct and guide.
Jiwu and Hadano’s story is indeed a reflection of Kyoshi and Yun’s tale, albeit taking some different turns along the way. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship for both of them, but not necessarily a stable one.
Jiwu’s eventual claim to fame will eventually be their mastery of all different types of special bending techniques: lightningbending, plantbending, bloodbending, metalbending, sandbending, lavabending, soundbending, spiritbending, energybending, etc. They will be regarded by future generations as ‘The All-Knowing’, a title they’ll roll their eyes at.
Like Aang with earthbending and Korra with airbending, Jiwu has trouble with a specific element - in their case, firebending, due to them initially lacking the sense of drive and inner spark needed for it.
Due to the actions of Unalaq and Vaatu, Jiwu only has a connection to Korra, their immediate predecessor. Because of this, Korra tries to be a bit more hands-on with Jiwu than previous Avatars ever were (though not so much that she overtakes the narrative). Jiwu relies on her heavily as they become the Avatar in earnest, and her learning to step back and have Jiwu trust themself is something they both struggle with.
They spend a lot of time in Wan Shi Tong’s library upon learning about it, and their friendship helps the owl spirit slowly come around a bit more on humanity.

Update: It’s likely these characters’ voices were being cast for a video game, not a movie/show.
Original post below:
Exclusive: Kyoshi, Rangi, Yun, and more Kyoshi novel characters will appear in Avatar Studios’ first movie/show!
We have a huge Avatar News exclusive for you today... and an Avatar News redemption?!
We can confirm that Kyoshi, Rangi, Yun, and more characters from the Chronicles of the Avatar novels The Rise of Kyoshi and The Shadow of Kyoshi by F. C. Yee will have substantial roles in Avatar Studios’ first animated movie and/or show, both slated for 2025!
Currently we don’t have details on which of the first-year projects-- the adult Gaang movie lead by Aang and Katara, or the new earth Avatar show-- the Kyoshi characters will appear in. Right now, a solid guess between the two is the show; it would make sense for the previous earth Avatar to feature in the next earth Avatar’s story. However, this is just a guess and the adult Gaang movie could easily have some kind of Kyoshi-related plotline we don’t know about yet (what we do know is that it’s set 12 years after ATLA and has a rumored title of Hidden Kingdom). It’s also technically possible that the Kyoshi characters are for a later project, but the production timeline strongly favors one of the first-year projects. In both cases these are almost guaranteed to be flashbacks/visions/etc. (And based on some other details I can’t share yet, I’m fairly confident this isn’t for a Kyoshi movie/show itself.)
What’s interesting is that our very first Avatar News exclusive report on Avatar Studios’ slate infamously had a Kyoshi movie as the first project. This became pretty controversial for us when it was announced that the first movie would actually be about Aang (gasp, Avatar News was wrong!!!!!!!!), and even though a first-year project about an earth Avatar (just, the next earth Avatar rather than the previous one) later came to light, and we got confirmation a Kyoshi project was on the table, and we explained how all this together could have been the source of confusion that led to the Kyoshi report, certain segments of the internet peanut gallery have continued to hold this against Avatar News. But ohhh no, Avatar News kept its nose to the grindstone and some might say that Avatar News was vindicated by this new information! But Avatar News doesn’t care about petty matters like that, Avatar News is just happy to be here. ^_^
The Kyoshi novels are some of the absolute best entries in the whole Avatar franchise (and by the way, live-action Kyoshi agrees!), so this will hopefully be welcome news to everyone who was super excited when there was a Kyoshi movie and then disappointed when there wasn’t. Currently we’re waiting on F. C. Yee’s confirmed next Chronicles of the Avatar novel, the second Yangchen book, which will potentially be announced this month. What we know F. C. Yee isn’t involved with, or at least wasn’t 9 months ago, is the animated movies/shows. Right now, we don’t know if that’s changed in the time since that interview. We do know House of Cards’ Kenneth Lin is writing the adult Gaang movie, but there’s no crew information for the new earth Avatar show yet. It’s possible F. C. Yee could now be joining that as a writer, especially if that is where the Kyoshi characters will be showing up. But! That’s just speculation for now, and there’s already a lot to be excited about just from today’s news.

"Is it true that you had 700 wives?"
Solomon looks up from his book, to where you're laying on his bed, homework in hand. He'd convinced you to take the class "Rhetoric 101: How to win any argument with an angel using biblical quotes" because he'd figured it'd be fun to watch you try to spark up an argument with Simeon. It was a nice perk that you could study together. It hadn't even occurred to him that he might get mentioned in the coursework.
You read over the pages, eyes brimming with amusement. "What could you possibly need 700 wives for?" you ask and he shrugs. "Mostly politics and gaining land," he says but you don't seem entirely convinced. "Might I remind you that this was happening during a period of 80 years?" he says but you just raise your brows at him. "That's still like 9 wives per year, though. How on earth did you have time for that?" you're laughing now, really laughing and Solomon has to fight a smile.
"What, they'd get like a month and a half each before you were on to the next one," you say, wiping the tears on your cheek. "Actually, I never even met most of them," he says, hoping to help his cause, but it only causes you to laugh even harder. Solomon huffs and pretends to read his book again, letting your laughter subside, but once you read the next line of your homework you're laughing again.
"You had 300 concubines? How is that even possible?" you cackle and Solomon rolls his eyes. "That was a rumour. I did not have that many," he says but you're far gone, clutching your belly as you gasp for air. "I'll have you know that having a pact with the Avatar of Lust gives you a very high libido-" he begins.
"Oh, trust me, I know," you wheeze.
He's on you in a second, pushing you down on the bed, a hand on each side of your head. You giggle, when he presses kisses to your face, any surface he can reach, your cheeks, your forehead, your nose.
"Stop" kiss "teasing" kiss "me!" kiss, he whines, but you've only just begun. "Oh, I'm sorry, my lord, it's just I haven't seen you in three years, you've been so busy with all your wives-" Solomon shuts you up with a kiss on the lips and you bury your hands in his hair, leaning into it. He lays down on top of you, using your chest as a pillow, refusing to move an inch. "Sol, you're crushing me," you complain and he grumbles. He presses a kiss to your collarbone and grabs your homework, throwing it into a corner of his room, before getting comfortable again, this time crushing you a little less. You run your fingers through his hair, humming softly.
You both know that it doesn't actually matter how many wives or concubines or past lovers he's had. Sometimes Solomon thinks that it's all just been a build-up, that none of it actually mattered. His real life didn't begin until he met you and he's completely fine with that.
"Sooo, did you have a favourite? Or perhaps 30 favourites?"
"Oh, shut up."
a/n: thanks for reading! find my other stuff here <3

ATLA (zukka….) au where everything is mostly the same except that the phrase “friend of the Avatar” is a euphemism for being gay, a la the phrase friend of Dorothy
(the phrase started towards the start of the 100 year war because in this universe Avatar Roku was some flavor of gay, then Sozin canonically banned gay marriage after their situationship went downhill. so people had to be more subtle about communicating their identities, something something something, the phrase became semi-commonplace throughout the fire nation and later the earth kingdom. maybe it started even earlier because of bi queen kyoshi. who knows!)
miscommunication and self-discovery ensues throughout the events of ATLA:
early on into his banishment and search for the avatar, Zuko runs into someone who casually mentions that they’re a “friend of the Avatar” and he’s immediately like “THE AVATAR IS ALIVE? WHERE ARE THEY. TELL ME”
…he learns a new phrase that day! perhaps he didn’t even know gay people existed until that awkward encounter (bc sheltered fire nation royal.) maybe he does some self reflection at this point, or perhaps he puts off his sexuality crisis in favor of his avatar hunting mission. who’s to say?
(the next time he hears someone say they’re “a friend of the avatar” he asks if they’re gay or if they actually know the avatar. you know, just in case they actually do.
….and the next time after that, too.
but after that he catches on pretty quickly that, no, it’s REALLY just a turn of phrase, and he does not repeat the mistake again.)
+ early into the series events sokka runs into some confusion when he mentions to a stranger that he’s a friend of the avatar while aang isn’t around—
sokka: hey so uhh i’m actually a friend of the avatar… think i can get a discount for that??
kindly ally shopkeeper: oh! i love that for you!! you know, i have a cousin who’s gay, real swell guy. anyways about the discount—
book one sokka, canonically sexist and with perhaps a fragile masculinity: what wait a sec, IM NOT GAY??????
shopkeeper: oh that’s okay, you don’t have to explain yourself or put a label on it to me (:
(sokka does in fact get a discount.)
he walks back to katara who was waiting for him and overheard the whole conversation, and she says “you know, sokka, it’s fine if you like boys.” sokka responds as you’d expect he would at this time.
(some amount of time later, sokka comes up to katara and aang very nervously and says “hey guys. i think i might. um. be a friend of the Avatar.”
and aang, confused but enthusiastic, goes “aww buddy, we’re already friends!!!!”)
at some point they’re fighting Zuko and during a back-and-forth exchange, Sokka proclaims “i won’t let you hurt him, the Avatar is my friend!” or something to that effect
Zuko, who has learned from his past mistakes in misconstruing this phrase, says “love is love. but your sexuality will not stop me from capturing the Avatar”

You're dead to me [3]
dad!Jake Sully x human!daughter!reader
Tumblr media
In which Jake Sully leaves his life on earth to settle down with the Omatikaya people as Toruk Makto. Having a family that consists of four kids with Neytiri, everything seems to work out just fine, but what if the past comes back for him? And his babygirl is right there in front of him?
warning: english isn't my first language, barely proofread, a lot of awkward tension cause Neytiri and humans + reader being in conflict, terrible na'vi sentence.
Word count: 3,8k
previous chapter
next chapter
A superior of you recommended you to Norm, a human scientist in an avatar body that went against the RDA a decade ago. He lives close to the war, which means close to the Omatikaya. This means you were going to face your father, the man you really didn't want to see. It wasn't that big of a shock to you when you were told that you were going to the front lines. You were always preached about for being one of the best warriors, you saw it coming. Both Raja and Seb were also ranked as one of the best warriors among your group, so it was fortunate you could at least be close to your friends if you were to break down. Yet you weren't planning to do that. Deep inside you yearned for him, wanting to jump into his arms the moment you see him and call him daddy again, but another side of you told you to keep quiet about it. Let him figure it out on his own. Act like you don't care and show him what you became. Was it the mature way? No, definitely not. But you threw your childhood away to become a warrior, being childish every now and then shouldn't hurt too much. And I mean, they had your files. The information of you potentially being Jake Sully's kid was out in the open for the higher-ranked to see, so whether he was interested enough in getting to know his soon-to-be acquaintances or not, the choice of figuring out you are his babygirl is really up to Jake Sully himself. It's not like he would notice it by looking at your face, your mask wasn't see-through and covered half of your face. Besides that, you look different than what you looked like over a decade ago. So here you were, in this helicopter with Raja and Seb on your way to the Omatikaya clan, adrenaline rushing through your veins as Raja kept her grip on your forearm.
Jake Sully held his wife in his arms as he begged her to accept the help that is supposed to get to home tree soon. Norm already told him weeks ago that the resistance was coming soon. He didn't know what he meant, unaware of the things that were happening on earth. He was explained how earth was in an uproar, divided into three groups: with the RDA, against the RDA, or being neutral. Information was leaked about the RDA's doings, how they were sending humans to Pandora to kill the natives. History repeats itself. From killing their own kind centuries ago to killing a different species on a different planet. Norm told him how he was in contact with a huge resistance party on planet earth, one that was open for it to directly take action, how they wanted to send their trained warriors to Pandora to end the wrongdoings of mankind and keep the RDA away or any human that was a potential enemy to Pandora and its nature. Young warriors that just finished their training, choosing to fight for someone else's freedom rather than living a safe life on earth. Safe as in not getting attacked then, because planet earth is definitely dying. Jake could appreciate this selfless decision, whether some may be in it for the paycheck or just an act of kindness, all of them were there to help. He was hoping Neytiri could see it like this too, they were here to help fight against their own kind. Jake's pleading eyes couldn't make Neytiri decline, so with a loud hiss she agreed, "fine, but I'm coming with you. If they make one wrong move I'm going to pierce an arrow through their skulls, ma Jake." Her tone sounded annoyed, but she couldn't help but lean into his touch.
Even though Neytiri agreed to accept help from the sky demons, she was against the idea to bring those demons directly to high camp. It was that feeling all over again, when Jake betrayed her and the RDA came to destroy their past home, home tree. She was scared for her people, for her children. Jake could understand where she was coming from and agreed with Norm through his throat microphone to meet at the lab instead. His children were listening from afar and Tuk jumped out of their hiding spot, much to Neteyam's, Loak's and Kiri's dismay. "Are we going on an adventure?", giggles left her lips as she jumped towards her mother, her arms wrapping around her waist. Her chin was pressed against her mom's hip as she looked up at her with sparkles in her eyes. Kiri smacked herself against the forehead as their little sibling ran towards her parents. The three got out of their hiding spot, Neteyam walking in front as he was ready to confront his father, "sir I-" he started, but was immediately cut off as Jake spoke over his voice, "Neteyam I need you to come with your mom and me. We are retrieving guests, sky people. This will be part of your Olo'eyktan training." Jake's tone was fierce as he spoke to his son, treating his own blood as nothing but a warrior. Neteyam pursed his lips as he nodded his hand in response, "yes sir." was all he had left to say. Loak groaned as he felt left out of the situation. He wanted to go on an adventure too, and spend time with his father. "What about me? Why can't I come?" He didn't hide the disappointment in his tone as he asked his questions, mainly directing them to his father. "I need you to stay here and take care of Kiri and Tuk." Kiri then decided to chime in on the conversation, planning to get more information on the current situation, "what is this all about dad? They're going to help us, but what are they exactly?" Jake sighed in response as he brought his hand to his forehead. It was no use hiding anything, they would get to know the truth eventually. So he just decided to tell them everything he knew from Norm.
Everything comes to light after all.
Jake Sully prepared himself for their departure. Hunter's knife strapped to his hip and his throat microphone attached as always, in case Loak gets into trouble yet again. "Ma Jake? Are you ready soon? My mother would like to see you as well before we do." Neytiri called from outside their family pod. "Almost almost, I'll get to her tent soon." Jake was frantically looking around the pod as he spoke. He was looking for his good luck charm. Childish one may call it, but it made him feel at ease during these stressful times. There it lay, the thing he was looking for, under one of the woven carpets. He picked the round charm up, holding it between his thumb and index finger as he tried to open the lock. His heart pounded into his throat as he did so, struggling to open it because of his much bigger hands. He was delusional, scared to lose it. He breathed out when he came face to face with your cute baby face, all smiling and giggling. "Thank Eywa," he mumbled to himself and tied to chain to the handle of his knife. When Jake Sully opened the flap that separated the inside of the pod from the outside world he came face to face with Neytiri, "Mo'at wants to see me?" She responded with a nod as her head nodded to the healer's tent, "she wanted to speak to you, she told me." He wondered what that could be about. He wasn't injured or suffering from any illnesses, so what could have possibly happened? Jake Sully nodded his head before speaking up, "I still don't think it's a good idea that you come." Neytiri crossed her arms at his words, "Ma Jake, I need to see what kind of people are about to enter my clan." And with that, she walked away. A sigh left his lips since he knew things would not turn out too well. He stepped towards Mo'at's tent. Time to find out why she needed him, as he entered the tent Mo'at was supposed to be at. "Ah, Jake Sully. I was awaiting you." She motioned for him to come in and he followed her order. He awkwardly stood next to her as she busied herself with her herbs, "Eywa has spoken to me. It has to do with you, Jake Sully." His ears twitched in curiosity, motioning for her to continue speaking. "You are about to be in a huge conflict. Hearts will break and tears will stream. You mustn't give up as Eywa has spoken to me this needs to happen for you to continue forward, so don't back down, Jake Sully." This just confused him, what conflict? Does this have to do with the arrival of the resistance? Is this about the RDA? But he doesn't dare ask, because he knows the Tsahik can't get into detail. His gaze is focused on the herbs the Tsahik is mixing up into medicines. Was it to distract herself from this conversation? He didn't know what else to say, but there is one thing he dared to ask, "when will this happen?"
"Way sooner than you will ever expect, Jake Sully."
"Your codename is Buttercup?" Norm looked at Seb in disbelief as the guy in question just shook his head, "I was forced, this is a crime." The three of you were talking about yourselves to Norm as Norm listened carefully. Raja giggled at the embarrassment of her friend, "so there used to be this cartoon I found in one of my great grandma's old boxes. It was called the Powerpuff girls. It is about three sisters that fight against crime and we needed codenames, so I forced (Y/N) and Seb to match with me." This made Norm realize how the three trained warriors in front of him were actually still kids at heart. Of course he knew that they were young, but this just showed how much they missed out on beings kids. You chuckled at the conversation and shrugged, "I mean, my codename is Blossom so it's not too bad, not like being a buff dude and getting called Buttercup. Raja's fits hers, bubbles. It fits her bubbly personality." Seb continued complaining about how it was two against one and that he couldn't escape from his codename being Buttercup. "We are here," Norm commented and you felt the nerves go through your body once again, your grip on your katana so hard your knuckles turned lighter. As the helicopter lowered, you looked outside the window and there you saw three blue figures standing next to one another close to a facility in the middle of the forest. There he was. Your dad. Standing all high and mighty and he was so tall. He looked so different, yet still the same. You noticed certain features that just made him look like your dad. You wished you were a little kid again. If it was little you in your place right now, she wouldn't have given a damn. Would've run up to him and told him who you were as you would have jumped into his arms. But you grew up, full of anger and pain. You pursed your lips as you watched him talk with his mate and son, silently wishing it was you there, by his side as he had a proud look on his face. You had an intense conflict within yourself. Why did you have to be such a tryhard? If you slacked off, you could have been chilling with the other warriors that were spread around the other forest clans. Yet, this was something to be proud of. You did this on your own, you should prove yourself to them, to him. But were you ready for this confrontation? All this inner dialogue made your head hurt. You had to stop fighting the thoughts in your head and focus, because you were getting lost in your thoughts a lot. That wasn't acceptable, not on a battlefield. Once the helicopter landed, Norm was the first to step out of the helicopter, followed by Seb, Raja and you. When the three of you stood in a line you were standing right in front of the Na'vi: Seb in front of Neteyam, Raja in front of Neytiri, and you in front of Jake Sully right in the middle. As if Eywa herself wanted this to happen, wanting the two of you to reconnect. He analyzes you from head to toe, his gaze burning into your skin making you push your mask further into your skin. You wanted to crawl into a cave right there and then.
"Oel Ngati Kameie," the three of you say in unison as you brought your hand towards your forehead, dropping it slowly to the height where your chest is at. The na'vi in front of you do the same na'vi greeting, before Jake Sully switched to English, "I, Jake Sully, Welcome you to Pandora, I can speak for everyone of the Omatikaya clan that we are very thankful for your arrival and your help." His English sounded rusty, but understandable when you haven't been using it for the past decade. Your eyebrows raise at his English, "we understand Na'vi. Pxoeng nolume Na'vi." You spoke to your dad through your mask and you could see the surprise on his face. It made you smile, he looked proud. Fortunately, the mask covered your mouth, otherwise, everyone could have seen your happy expression. Norm chimed into the conversation, "These three are the best warriors of their group. (Y/N), Seb and Raja, all scored fantastically on their physical exams. Six years ago, these warriors left just a few weeks before RDA's departure. We got a few weeks to plan out a raid against their new forces." Everyone nods in unison and you glance at your dad once again, locking eyes with him, since he was already looking at you.
Jake's eyes widen at that name. It was a name he didn't hear in so long. He thought of his babygirl, wondering what you could be doing right now. Did you graduate? Have a boyfriend? Girlfriend? Was he a grandfather? He got so overwhelmed at the thought of you. He missed you so much. His little girl, who is probably not so little now. Regret and guilt fuels his body as he remembers that he was the one to leave you and never return to earth. How he hoped to see your face again. Come and live here with him on Pandora, was that a selfish thought?
Norm took out a form and cleared his throat, making Jake Sully wake up from all his thoughts, "Jake, the warriors first need to do this checkup before they can get to work, resistance orders," he passes him the map with your files and your heart immediately dropped to your stomach. You knew he was about to get your last name eventually, but on the first day? You don't know if you can do that. "This was supposed to be my task, but I trust that you can do this, oh great Olo'eyktan? Max is researching something and he urgently needs my help with it." Great Norm, just great. Eywa, is this your doing? Because you would rather wish she takes you to her right this instant. "You can trust me with this, Norm." Jake flashes him a grin. "Don't lose it and I really mean that," Norm's gaze reaches the three of you once again, he almost looks worried, "I read the checkup, good luck, because as a scientist I could never." And to the lab he went.
"What was that supposed to mean?" Seb raised his eyebrows in concern and his eyes glanced at the map your father was holding. Neytiri has been quiet this entire time as well as Neteyam. Both were weary ever since they met you three, like mother, like son. Everyone could notice the tension, it would have made Jake's arm hair stand if he had any. "Okay, let's see what we have here.. Pretty.. gruesome.." Neteyam was looking over his dad's shoulder, frowning at all of them, "sir, is this normal for humans?" Again, you raise your eyebrows and you couldn't stop the next words you say from coming out of your mouth, "you call your father 'sir'? What is this, an army?" Raja widens her eyes, as well as Seb. Neytiri hisses your way in defense, Jake putting his arm out in front of her as to not make her pounce in you, but you don't flinch. You just looked at your father in disbelief at how he was treating his own son. It was awfully quiet as Jake didn't know what to reply. Your hard gaze on him made him feel something, guilt? Pain? He couldn't describe it, but he felt weird in some way. Luckily, Norm came back in his human body, clear mask on his face, "false alarm, he already got help from the other scientists and everything is go- what the hell happened here?" Norm could feel the tension in his bones as he watched the six of you. You were the first to speak up, "nothing is wrong here. So you will do our checkup right?" You walked towards your father, gripping the file map out of his hands and handing it over to Norm. Everyone's jaws drop to the ground and Neytiri drew her hunter's knife, "you sky demon I knew you couldn't be trusted! Such disrespectful behavior!" Jake takes a hold of his mate. They couldn't fight, not now. Neytiri needed to get out of here before blood was about to be drawn. "Ma Neytiri please, it's fine, could you please check up on Loak?" The tension was unbearable for Jake Sully. His eyes pleaded for himself to handle this. The grip on her knife loosened as she hissed again. Neteyam stepped towards his mother as his hand wrapped around hers, the one she was gripping the knife with, "mother please, please trust father." He himself had doubts about these humans, but it looked like his dad trusted them, so he should at least try right? As future Olo'eyktan. Looking into her son's eyes, she felt herself calm down as she lowered her knife, attaching it to her hip. She put her hand on Neteyam's cheek for a second before pulling her hand away. Once again, she threw a glance at you. "I'm watching you." She sent you a hiss as a warning and crept back into the forest. Great, you have a bad relationship with your dad's mate. Maybe this was for the best after all. Jake sighed, he shouldn't have taken Neytiri with him even after all her demands. With sky people she just met it was bound to go like this.
After that awkward ordeal, Neteyam led everyone to an open field in the forest. With your dad's gaze still lingering on your body, you decided to try and ignore it. Easier said than done. You yearned for your dad, but you couldn't give in. Neteyam and Jake stood to the side as the three of you started stretching in the conveniently open field that was formed into a circle. "The checkup is about strength, focus, and speed. You need to fight one vs one hand-to-hand combat battles against one another without masks on."
"Without masks?! Are they out of their mind?!"
"Do you expect an answer or?"
"No I don't!"
Seb and Raja continued their daily bickering as always, but your mind was completely somewhere else. Jake seemed to notice this, as he walked towards you. He had this urge to comfort you. Could it be, because you had the same name as his daughter on earth? Maybe, but maybe if he took care of you, he could feel at peace again. He sat on his knees and put his hand on your shoulder, making you look his way. "I'm sorry for my mate, she can be very protective of me," he softly spoke to you, "and I don't blame you, you woke up after 6 years and your entire life is upside down. I understand." You pursed your lips at his words. Why was he being so soft to you? You couldn't stand it, not when he spoke like that, reassuring you like that. You didn't reply, you just gave him the shoulder as you stepped away from his grip. This just made him even more confused as his chest hurt, did he do something wrong when he met you? Was he staring at you a little too long? Did his gaze offend you?
"We will do three rounds and in those three rounds, you need to put your enemy down for ten seconds to win."
"Let's dance then, shall we?"
And those words you spoke, felt awfully familiar to Jake Sully.
Neteyam Sully watched in awe as you fought the final round against Seb. Your mask was on the ground as you pounced on the much taller guy. He tried to lock your legs with his to make you lose your balance, which would have given him an advantage, but you punched him in the face with your fist, making his mouth open and gasp for air. In his moment of panic, you used it to knock him face-first into the dirty mossy ground, keeping his head on the floor as you twisted his arm. You sat right on his back as you used your knee on his neck to keep him down, the other weighing on his lower back and arm. You gasped for air as you saw blurry, listening to Norm count to ten was honestly something. It sounded like he counted to a hundred in slow motion. When he yelled the word ten, you quickly got off your friend, crawling towards your mask. Jake wanted to run up to you to help you, but Norm told him to stop and that this was what you were supposed to do in a real battle if it would ever happen that you lose your mask. You quickly took your mask in your hand and put it on your face with a shaky hand, gasping for the oxygen you needed. You coughed loudly as you sat on your knees with your hands on the ground. Jake rushed towards you and put his arm around you, rubbing your back with his free hand, "are you okay?" worry in his tone as he spoke. Your eyes widen at the familiar hug. The warmth of his arms as he used to hold onto you as you snuggled against him in your sleep. But you couldn't. You held onto his hand, letting the touch linger your skin before you pushed it away, "I'm good, yes." You stood up and walked towards Norm, not looking back at him once.
Just what was it with you?
And why did it hurt how you treated him?
A/N: I was lowkey insecure about posting this part 3 fr, idk if I liked it. I kept adding and adding details in the hope I would feel better about it, so here's a longer part than usual. Hope you enjoyed it. Pls tell me what you think. <3
