↺Everyone loved Nico. She was beautiful, smart, and charming. How could someone could not like her, she was the perfect human-being in every possible way. And she knew that.

↺No one liked Nico. She was mean, straight forward, and neglectful. Everyone either hated her or get caught in her fatal charm once they tried to talk with Nico. She also knew this.

↺To outside, she had a frozen heart that was impossible to melt. To inside, she had a heart burning with hatred which was impossible to freeze. She didn't want none of them, she only wanted a beating heart, however, even the thought of that made her sick in the stomach.

↺So she was cold, she was full of hate, and she was full of anger. Anger to everyone else and everything else at the world. But the truth was, her anger was actually for herself. For not being better, for not being perfect enough.

↺She had to be perfect. She needed to be the best human in the world just to prove she was better than others. No, she would be more than human, she would be a God. Nico only neeeded to be unbreakable so that no one would even dare to hurt her again.

↺That's why she killed herself slowly and reborned from her poisonous ashes just like a Phoenix.

↺Nico wasn't perfect at all, hell, she was very far from it. But she couldn't just accept that her hard work was nothing but an attempt in vain. She had to find a way to cover her mistakes, so she would be good enough for her expectations. And when she was so sick of every single thing, she found the best way to be a perfect God.

↺She started to lie.

↺Her lies weren't simple white lies. They were a literal death trap that leaded who was unlucky enough to talk with Nico to a painful end. And Nico was waiting them at the end of the road covered with her untruths.

↺And maybe, maybe if she tried hard enough to believe all the fake things she told to herself, they would actually became real. Maybe she would actually be perfect one day.

↺Even though she never found lying strange to her nature, she still needed some time to get used to it. And that time came closer even what she had expected. Turned out, she was born to live a life full of sweet masks and lies in a world filled with bitter truths.

↺Her relationships lacked any kind of meaning that was supposed to be in a real bond. And it was all her fault. She wore a different façade for each relationship she ever had that she forgot who she was.

blood that stained her hands flaked off under the pressure of the running water, pouring down the sink drain. red like a wilted rose, with the thorns protruding out from her skin.

the darkness painted on her lips, and around her lightning-storm eyes, matched that black hole of a girl well. when she looked at you, it was as if you were about to be swallowed whole. and then mercilessly, she’d spit you back out like poison on her tongue.

there wasn't a thing nico could hold on to that she didn't grip like a knife. even the microphone in her hand felt like a weapon. when she was on stage, all eyes on her, she knew she wasn't going to heaven when she died. if she even believed in heaven at all.

a flickering candle-lit flame danced in the dim kitchen of her house, not home. she leaned over the cupcake standing proud, one her little sister had made for her earlier that day, in the morning. the warm glow from the spark illuminated the midnight hour that engulfed her, resting false sunlight on her face as she blew it out.

when she snuffed out the eager fire, as she typically did, the world around her fell dark, as it typically did. the nowhere girl made it for another year, she thought. as the subtle smell of birthday smoke filled the air, the only thing that flooded her mind was a repeated prayer.

when she snapped the light switch on, squinting her tired eyes at the sudden brightness, she looked down at the cupcake with icing messily scraped on.

Every single time we hang out I think about how the stars probs aligned when we met

for everyone who's unaware, dia and I are are best friends irl !! and she always gets a kick out of telling the story of how we met but it's my happy birthday post so i get to do it this time HAH

We go to the same uni and we were taking the same french class, I always showed up at least half an hour late and I remember she'd always be there before I was, sitting in the center of the room. From her perspective, she says it took her a solid couple of weeks to build up the confidence to compliment my outfit because she thought i was intimidating, and from mine i ws js super happy bc this super pretty girl called ME pretty when she finally did

the second time we ever hung out was in the stairwell after class. We were talking about our childhoods. At this point, I'd pretty much grown out of the creepypasta fandom, it's what i was most known for when I was younger but eventually i just lost interest. But I mentioned to her that it used to be one of my main fandoms, and her face lights up. She grabs her phone. I'd seen it turn on a couple of times with her notifications, but didn't pay a whole lot of attention to her lockscreen, i just assumed it was some kind of artwork from a tv show or wtvr. lo and behold she turns it on, flips the screen towards me, and it's a marble hornets lock screen. I snatched that shit from her hands so fast she thought i ws gna toss it off the stairs LMAO

BUT then she dragged me back into the fandom, held me at gunpoint to talk to a bunch of other super talented creators and noww we're all besties and we have creepedverse and i'm still trapped here and it's all her fault

Nico hates green.

She hates that it looks like the woods the operator makes her fight through.

Tree arms scraping at her skin until it's cut red, raw.

She's never been big on nature, never festered any fondness for the great american landscape of alabama, or farnbury. The rolling daisy peppered hills, the way the lakes weren't even really blue, skimmed with treemoss and algae.

Still

It's Nero's favorite color.

Her sister likes to wear it, when she's not in her school uniform. Her stupid graphic tees, her ugly flannels, the green sweatshirt that's missing the hood, that was always too large, the sleeves coming over her hands that she fights to roll back over her thin elbows.

Her sister is a mess. Not prissy like Nico is. She doesn't care about her appearance, about being perfect. The woman washes her clothes near daily, splattered with mud and insect blood, idly wondering how a little kid even manages to make such a mess. And still she finds her, stomping out of the woods, earth ridden boots, grin on her mouth. There's a branch poking out from her dark tousled hair, specks of dirt against her small face. And when Nico gathers her into her arms, buries her face in her hair, Nero smells like the sun. She smells like the forest, like grass.

And Nero is green. Nero's springtime, she's the golden tinged powder of april haze, she's lake moss, and beetlewings, hummingbird feathers. Everything beautiful, imperfect in farnbury is green.

The only thing there left to love.
