Bit of a two parter:

What's your process for doing a piece of art? This may be a bit broad but artists talking about their personal way of making art is always fascinating

And also, how have you been enjoying House of Leaves!

It depends! I tend to skip thumbnails and go right into loose sketches, and once I pick one I like I color over it to get an idea of the palette I want. Here's the colors I tried for the Fathoms 2023 piece, ultimately landing on the 3rd one.

I don't always completely stick with the palette I settle on in the sketch phase. When it comes to whether or not I want to do abstract shapes vs lineart for a character, its usually down to 'vibes'. Though I tend to do abstract color blocking for clothing and armor especially, which is why Night in Night and Knymph is pretty much always drawn like that, vs Knymph's cartoony lineart. I hope this makes some kind of sense! Also I'm LOVING house of leaves.
