Nightmare Nightmore Highlights.

I'm not gonna recap or analyze the episode too much I just wanna share a few of my favorite things! Not really any spoilers, if you've already seen the leaks of Abbey and her mom floating around then you're all caught up.

Draculaura is throwing a party for the holiday of Nightmore, but I couldn't possibly care less. I'm here for Abbey!

Heath has the same reaction to seeing Abbey for the first time as a lot of us did. in Awe of her beauty. same dude, same.

She towers over everyone! even the boys! I am in love!

Draculaura is like a smurf compared to tall powerful Abbey.

Abbey's eyes aren't purple anymore, they are brown! and so pretty! breaks up the abundance of purple in her hair and outfit I am super into it!

Abbey's hair blend is the colors of the Bi flag and I have no choice but to stan.

Mama Bominable threatening to bring forth a cold harsh merciless winter upon Bloodgoods head if she doesn't produce Abbey is such a mood. I love me a good mama bear.

WHERE IS NIGHTMARE!? why is this messenger dragon hanging out in Bloodgood's office but her horse isn't!? The episode even has nightmare in the title but I see no Nightmare the horse. I don't like it. A headless horse person without their horse is just a zombie... why are you booing me? I'm right!

Draculaura already has her license in this gen? I'm here for it! Also Clawd chose to sit next to her. Also Clawd said "nailed it like a coffin" which was only ever said in G1 by Clawdeen and that makes me happy.

This is the second or third episode where Lagoona inexplicably has flat teeth, the music video for her doll did this too. I'm not exactly a professional animator but I've studied it enough to know that rendering characters off model is a fire-able offense. Fix it Nickelodeon.

Heath encouraging Abbey to use her ice powers telling her she is strong, charismatic and beautiful. ahhhh! my heart!... I've mentioned on here I'm not much of a shipper per-se. But that was a lie, Habbey was one of my OG ships and it brings me such joy to see them again! I needed this since the only Heath we got during G2 was this:

Yeti's in this universe seem to basically be water benders and I am okay with that! Mama Bominable is fuckin pissed! LOL Bye Bloodgood it's been nice knowing you!

Damn, Abbey's dad didn't contribute any genetics to that her at all. Mama Bominables genes were like "this is MY child!" I do love that she has horns and a more pronounced underbite, perhaps Abbey will get these traits as she grows? Or maybe her buns are hiding her horns? IDK but it's fun to imagine! I wonder where they got the idea to give their yeti Horns... HMMMMMMM

it's a mystery, we'll never know.

This isn't even a highlight I'm just taking pictures of Mama Bominabe at this point, I love a strong woman willing to murder the school principle for her daughters safety.

SHE CALLED ABBEY SNOW ANGEL AHHHHHH- I'm sorry I just had to get that out.

The boy is in love! .... And he actually says something really profound. I'm so impressed G3 is giving Heath some depth and not just making him a one note idiot... Don't get me wrong, I liked one note idiot Heath but there was more to him than that.

in her intro episode he kissed her hand and his lips froze off.

I love everything about this episode! I love that Abbey is Nepali! it's way more accurate to her Monster type and before some nerd tries to get in the replies and go "Actually Russia occupied Nepal at one point" that's true, they did BUT! the myth of the Yeti originated in 1937, Russia didn't occupy the Himalayas until the 1960's.

This episode is my new favorite! I heard a rumor that we won't get any new Monster High episodes until after the new year, but if they are anything like this? they will be worth the wait!

I can't be the only one interested in the "freezer burn" Heath mentions in Nightmare Nightmore. From what I can gather, it seems to be some sort of injury or condition caused by contact between "[his] kind" (fire elemental? demon? unknown with the new series) and yetis. I wonder if they'll drop it or if it'll ever be explored? Idk, the mention just made my angst senses go off a bit.

Nightmare Nightmore might be the last episode airing in the US until next year

Not going to do my elaborate schedule posting because I’ve been busy lately, but if anyone is curious, it’s airing at 6:00 PM CT tonight and covers a 30 minute timeslot.

I’m letting you all know we might not be getting new episodes in the US until January. I found a schedule that ran all the way to January 1st and didn’t see any new monster high, at least not for the main Nick Channel. I’ll probably check others if anyone wants to catch reruns, but I didn’t see anything. Now, the schedule COULD change as it has in the past, but the likeliness is low.

But enjoy the episode and support official releases when you can. Happy Howlidays everyone!

My Favorite G1'rs that Need to Come Back

I'm loving the new season of g3 so far, so to celebrate I'm making a list of my personal faves from g1 that I'd love to see in g3 again!! Plus at the end I'm gonna include the monsters I don't personally need but think will probably be back somehow :3

Gooliope Jellington! My late addition queen. I love her goopy design, I love that she's so giant compared to the other boos, I love her circus aesthetic!! Ideally her doll would be ginormous again, plus I think they could integrate some novi stars moonbow slime so she's lava lampish. At her giant size, she could probably even still have articulation plus goo! Her character could also be potentially fascinating in g3--is she the daughter of the Blob? Or are her parents mad human scientists, creating experiment 8108?

Wydowna Spider. Her design is PEAK. A doll with six arms would be so cool to see again, especially since the varying body types mean the clothes aren't meant to be swapped like before (so her unique shape shouldn't be much of an issue!). In this gen she might even be a were-spider?

River Styxx! Ever since Draculaura brought up pastel goth aesthetics in Nightmare Nightmore I've been seriously missing River. Yes, she was only in one movie, yes, it was for like thirty seconds, but her design is so creepy cute! Plus her ghost design, semitranslucent with bones peeking through, is one of my absolute favorites. Maybe more focus on her candy love?

Luna Mothews. She was done SO DIRTY in the original (sorry to those who loved her she just was not for me). As a mothman (and Mr. Mothmanson) stan, I need a mothier, West Virginian Luna. Maybe she bonds with Scarah over their shared bad luck prophecy powers. Speaking of...

Scarah Screams. I feel like we're getting a banshee in Mrs. O'Shriek considering her name (and a throwaway line about her yelling), but Scarah was such a sweet and lovely character that I'd just love to see her again. And more Irish this time too! An episode explaining the history of bian sidh lore, complete with explaining the Anglicized spelling, would be super cool!

Sirena von Boo. This is almost purely on design alone. The ghostly mermaid tail, the shadowy finned hands, the chain detailing?? She is so iconic in her design (plus her characterization was p cute). Her color scheme is similar to Spectra, so maybe an update for that. Her character could be a really interesting foray into monster afterlife this gen (aka maybe she's the ghost of a teen mermaid, not a ghost-mermaid hybrid).

Kiyomi Haunterly! Yeah, I loved the ghosts lmao. She was such a cool concept! I loved that her face was barely visible yet still there, her lesbian moments w Drac were all ADORABLE, and it was super cool to see ghost lore from Japan. If they bring back monster exchange I think she'd be so fun to see again through that route.

C.A. Cupid!! Chariclo Arganthone, we've all been missing you since 2013. Please come home to Monster High!! Absolutely adored the concept of a bone elemental, for one, plus her radio persona was so fun! I could see her hosting a matchmaking podcast in g3, plus a missed connections EekTok. Since I hc aro Deuce for g3, I think they'd make really great friends. Plus he could teach her that romantic love/matchmaking isn't for everyone!

Elissabat! With all the focus on the were-ruler this season, plus the focus last season on Dracula's PFFT title and what it meant for Draculaura, I think it could be really interesting to see the traditional Vampire Queen return to Monster High. How do tradition-dependent vampires deal with a power struggle between the original vampire royalty and the premiere, first and foremost top monster? Also getting a GOTH goth character might finally get people to stop griping about how g1 was "way gother!!"

Honey Swamp. Okay yes, same as River, she was in one (1) movie for about forty five seconds, but her crocodilian design was one of my favorites in the entire generation. I always thought she was particularly cool since Lagoona ended up more sea monster than "Creature from the Black Lagoon." Honey was the actual swamp monster!! Plus we've already got New Orleans through Apollo, so why not a little New Goreleans as well? More exploration of human cities and their monster counterparts please!

Robecca Steam. She's so far down the list, but I cannot emphasize how much I need my steampunk queen back. More goggles, more gears, more copper and steam! I loved that her father was human, which frankly could be a really cool idea to explore in g3. What are the ethics of monsters created by humans? If humans are monsters too, was Hexiciah alive during a time of peace?

Rochelle Goyle. Her design was always so classic and chic. We've seen some gargoyles in the series so far, but none of them have been animate (or made their sentience known). Plus she could be great friends with Deuce, and maybe even save the day if his gorgon gaze gets out of control.

Hoodude. I'll be honest: as much as I like the idea of a living Voodou doll, the first generation handled him like garbage. Having Frankie practice rituals from a closed religion to make herself a boyfriend was uh...yeah. G3 could take Hoodude in two interesting directions. For one, they could get a consultant who actually practices Voodou to help design the character. He would be a living doll created by a Voodou practitioner, introducing kids to the idea that Voodou is a real religion currently practiced today that isn't evil, isn't witchcraft, and is deeply culturally important. If they're not willing to put the work in (which, honestly, they've been so much better about in g3), he could also make a really fun renamed living doll/plush.

Vandala Doubloons. Another ghost who showed up for thirty seconds in Haunted? In my list? It's more likely than you'd think lmao. This is solely bc I love pirates and I love ghosts, and think a pirate ghost character is always fun. I prefer her design to Dayna Jones's, but I like the daughter of Davey Jones aspect.

Operetta. Last but absolutely not least, I need the phantom of the oprey back again! Her rockabilly pin up style was so cute and her origin story is so batty (her dad is a human, guys). Honestly she'd work so well in g3 with her "monstrous" human father!

And there they all are! My personal faves from g1, brought back into g3. Some of them are just there for the peak design, some for how their lore could work really really well w g3, all bc I love them :3

mh g3 , witches + more

i will address deuce , manny , iris , cupid , casta fierce and spelldon to make the following analysis

so , a few things to dissect (tw : discussions of greek myths , including mentions of rape , bestiality)

In “Nightmare Nightmore” Deuce and Manny are leaving at the start of the episode , chanting “party like the greek gods”. Their mere existence indicates that greek myths are more than just tales, that there are greek gods in the mh world (we know this). However , egyptian gods and christian supernatural beings (heath’s dad) are too present in the mh canon , posing the existence of egregors , and i personally interpret this through the lens of absurdism . Anyways , these gods clearly do interact in a tangible manner with the “solid world” , be it due to devotion or whatnot , deuce and manny and iris are proof of how tangible these gods’ actions can be. However , these are the children of cursed (for lack of a better word) entities in greek mythology :

the origin of medusa varies, whether she was a priestess who was raped by poseidon and cursed by athena afterwards (as a case of victim-blaming , though some interpret this as a gift rather than a curse , giving her the power to liberate herself from her victimhood) as per Ovid (though depictions of her as a “beautiful maiden” predate the poet) , medusa is otherwise one of three gorgon sisters , daughters of Phorcys and Ceto (otherwise Gorgon and Ceto as per Hyginus) , daughters of two (or even just one) sea god[s] , they have god lineage. Assuming Deuce’s origins are that of the latter interpretation , he is at the very least a demigod ;

the minotaur is too a creature that resulted from poseidon’s involvement , he who gifted a snow white bull to Minus , who was to sacrifice the bull to honour the god , but decided instead to keep him , and so poseidon made Pasiphaë (minus’ wife) to fall in love with the bull , and mate … resulting in the minotaur who had no source of nourishment and so devoured humans for sustenance. Minus had Daedalus, per Delphi’s advice, build a labyrinth to hold the minotaur. In mh lore , g1 and g3 , minotaurs are good at mazes , though g1 manny isn’t , g3 Manny is exceptionally good at them. In any case , they both allude to this whole godly dispute that resulted in their kind ;

the cyclops has some godly lineage , being descendants of uranus and gaia , two of the “greek primordial deities” , who “produced eighteen children” , three of whom were cyclopes , who , alongside their siblings were imprisoned deep within gaia by uranus who despised his monstrous children, but cronus castrated him and became the ruler of the cosmos , however he did not release his brothers , and as gaia foretold , he was overthrown by his children , who he kept imprisoned in his belly , except for zeus who rhea managed to protect and who “forced his father to vomit his siblings” and too released the Cyclopes and Hecatoncheires. The Cyclopes’ great weapon was the thunderbolt, and they gave it to zeus to aid in overthrowing the titans. So , theoretically , Iris too has god lineage and her kind has been at the mercy of godlike creatures ;

this is to say , all their individual lineages have dealt with affairs with the gods , though arguably Manny stands out , being the one without godly lineage , what they all have in common is that they are all the kids of entities that have been antagonised, vilified and outright defined as monstrous, thus making them monsters. So , i wonder , is this what separates them from the kids of other gods , or does their godlike status add to their monster status ? do gods inherently hold monstrous attributes ? or is this a distinction amongst them ?

I ask this , to pose the question: how does Cupid fit into the picture ? and subsequently , how does Casta and Spelldon fit into the picture as the kids of Circe ?

These are characters that are yet to appear in g3 , however they fit in just well in g1 Monster High , and their existence overlapped with Ever After High (ie. C.A. Cupid) , regardless , one could argue that the public perception of their being plays a role in whether they’re seen as monsters or not , so why and how is Cupid a monster ? And what exactly makes Casta and Spelldon monsters ? In g1 , they had monstrous aesthetics , however , in g3 , magic can be practiced my humans and monsters , their status is interstitial and i wonder if their monstrous nature stems from them having godly lineage ? And is their monstrous nature the result of public perception ? If so , again , how and why is Cupid a monster ?

Cupid , daughter of Eros , god of love and its various forms , otherwise a primordial god and personification of love. Eros was celebrated and worshipped throughout history , so what exactly grants Cupid her monster status ? Is it simply the fact that she isn’t human ? She is the adopted daughter of Eros , so one could argue , given mh lore , considering she doesn’t know her biological roots , that she is a monster who follows “her adoptive father's footsteps as an arbiter of love and is specialized in the dealings of relationships”. This poses the question whether these gods are their own kind of entities or if their actions are what grant them their status . Cupid’s story also demystifies these gods , as she was “found on the doorsteps of the Cupid household as a baby” which frames them as much more integrated to common folk society. And as for whether gods are their own kind of entities or not , and whether their powers are inherent to godlike entities or not , considering Cupid possesses the ability to “analyse the powers of other love derived monsters , such as emotional vampires”, as well as love related powers she can wield without her arrow but with her hands alone (as seen in Ever After High) , one could argue it is about the actions and not so much what kind of creature they are. However an Ever After High narrator referred to her as a cherub , perhaps loosely , though it could indicate what kind of creature she is , and once again rehash the question , what makes her a monster ? and is her monster nature derived from her not being a human ? also , she is a bone elemental , at least to some extent , and this is possibly derived from eros becoming phanes , prompting whether she was granted these powers through supernatural means and she doesn’t innately hone these abilities , and if so , what kind of creature is she ? or is she in actuality a bone elemental who was granted the rest of the previously mentioned powers as heritage from her adoptive family ?

Casta and Spelldon, children of Circe , an enchantress and goddess. G3 poses magic as something anyone could practice , though witchcraft is more popular amongst humans, , it is a universal craft , and so her only non-human attribute would be her god status , once again hashing the question , is a godly status innately monstrous ? Is it enough to be considered a monster , or is it an interstitial state that is neither human or monster ? Does that state lean into monster nature ? If their god status is but a rank , then how would g3 interpret their monster nature ? The thing is , as previously mentioned , the reason Deuce , Manny and Iris are monsters is because thats what their lineage has been dubbed out to be , because no average child of a god has attended monster high , Cupid being an exception considering her uncertain origins , but its only the children of those creatures that have been vilified in history that are in monster high. So is public perception what makes Casta and Spelldon monsters ? And does their godly status or lineage aesthetically morph them into monster-like creatures ?

Let me know what you think , im seriously curious how g3’s iteration of Casta and Spelldon will look like , and whether their god lineage will be addressed directly , and if they are to have a monstrous aesthetic , i wonder if its going to be attributed to the other parent .
