Aira Come Home Chapter III Casting Call!!!!

Aira Come Home's final chapter has two characters left to voice act, and we need your help! NO VOICE ACTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!

All you need is a mic and Discord! More details under the cut!

Requirements for voice acting:

You have a microphone of any quality. Stand mic, earbuds mic, even your phone's mic will work!

You have Discord, or some other way to contact me. Discord is the easiest as that's where all of the development chat is.

You can get all of your lines done within the span of 3 months. Each character has 11 lines, which are anywhere from 0.5 to 5 seconds long each. I can go all the way up to December 21st, 2024 as a deadline, but no later than that unless the entire game gets pushed back.

(For the sake of avoiding spoilers, I will be masking the identity of both characters, who I will be referring to as Character A and Character B, to everyone except the people who get the roles.)

Character A:

A is a can-do, flamboyant person who plays the role of Y/N's wingman of sorts. They've been observing Y/N from afar for quite some time, and are ready to finally get Y/N to achieve their ultimate dream of... well, that's for the player to decide!

Sample lines for Character A:

[Peppy] “Heeeyyyy~!” [Annoyed] “Girl, bye.” [Inquisitive] “Tell me what you want.”

Character B:

B is just as serious as they are mysterious. They're a no-nonsense detective who's dedicated to their craft more than they are to any person in Enstarrie High. And what's more, Y/N can tell that deep down, they have a grudge they're holding...

[Natural] “It’s a pleasure to see you.” [Insistent] “That is top-secret information.” [Revelation] “I’ve got it!”

You don't have to do all of them if you don't want, I just like giving options, but I selected lines that display the diverse range of each character, so it definitely helps to do all three. The recordings can be any filetype, as long as they are listenable. That's to say, it doesn't matter if it's .mp3, .wav, .m4a, etc. so long as I can open the file and listen to it.

Ok, Hi Hello, I am seeing a lot of panic over this post of mine regarding the current situation of the enstars assets, since the post escalated and I started seeing some takes I feel in the necessity to say;

Please don't panic over the wiki's status

Yes, as I said the wiki will go affected by this situation but that doesn't mean tomorrow morning all images are going to disappear in the blink of an eye. The host's of the wiki have already stated that they don't have any notice from happyele about the images yet so if that's what concerned you, you can breathe out now

Now then, if the wiki has the permission then what happened to the drive? I've been investigating for a bit and after seeing Grad's emails it happens that the DMCA violations come directly from Google

I apologize for the censorship but this is their main and for safety reasons I wish to protect their identity

So rest assured !! The cards are not going anywhere at the moment. As for the concern coming from some editors I want you to tell you that this will not affect us more than it already does. I don't know if this is general knowledge but editing and using any resource coming from HE's IP has always been in a gray area (the same way data mining is). I know this as an editor myself because at some point I wanted to try monetizing my editing skill but decided to investigate a bit further about their policies. If they don't do anything to us it's because they either don't know or just pure neglect.

That said, which things could this drive takedown affect? Things not hosted in the wiki, like the anniversary songs, voice lines or other types of graphics. Grad has also stated that this situation may make them leave enstars completely and since they're the main data miner the staff would have to move a lot of things to be able to continue providing resources from upcoming events. Also I don't know if you all knew but the reason why Grad knows how to data mine properly is because they're a coder, so as a fun fact a lot of the original code from the wiki comes from them and another collaborator.

Please do not alarm people further, if anything support Grad in these trying times, they're currently trying to find a place to reupload the folders but are struggling a bit with the payments, if anyone is willing to help please do

Famitsu has an interview with the Enstars staff members who came up with the idea of Ensemble Training and it has a lot of fun information. Here are some things from the interview summarized:

It was an idea from the lead illustrator and graphic designer who at first talked about a dietary app featuring Knights but it later changed to exercise because they felt diet app was too complex and not easy to add a concept of working together to be more healthy to. The lead illustrator made a proposal of it and found other staff members who were interested in helping her. At some point there was also talk of adding some romancing aspect into the game but that was discarded. (Phew!!)

They talked about it in late 2020 but the work began in March 2022. Originally they wanted to release it with Butou-kai shuffle but it was not ready yet at that point. It also wasn't originally meant as April Fool's content but then they thought it'd get a lot of attention that way. And they were right! They got more downloads than they anticipated when the app launched.

Also, it was kept approachable to everyone not only by keeping it completely free (and it'll stay without any paid content they promised) but also making sure everyone could do the exercises. The staff members who came up with the idea aren't athletic, so they tested the exercises could be done by non-trained people. They had both a professional gym trainer and Enstars staff who did muscle training to help with planning the exercises and programmes.

And lolol, the reason the day in-app changes at 4 am is because many staff members are nightowls so daily reset at 12 midnight felt too tough. Haha, I feel you. (But wait, does that mean some of them are exercising in the middle of the night??)

They had been thinking it's boring and hard to stay motivated to do exercises if you just watch videos or have to go somewhere to exercise. And that you want to be praised and encouraged. So they wrote idols giving you a lot of positive feedback. And that's why for example Izumi who's usually quite rude, sounds kinder in the app. They wanted them to tell you you're doing a good job and give you little cheers during exercises (so no demon instructor Yuzuru dlc, sorry everyone). They also wrote the characters as they would be acting in interviews or promotional settings, so even those who do not normally speak very politely, are using more keigo. Kanata got specially edited lines because he talks so slow haha.

It's so true the idols telling you good job and to keep up helps. <3

Also, they thought that maybe the voice actors would be a little bit confused about suddenly asked to be gym instructors, so they filmed an example video for the VAs to explain/show it since the game animation was still in progress. Awww!

The characters got more lines and animations than they originally planned. At first there was no instructors introducing themselves before exercises but as they created animations and lines for the four trainers (Ibara, Adonis, Izumi and Mitsuru), they thought it'd be fun to see the other characters animated and talking more too. Originally there would've just been the chibi character screen. I'm glad they decided to expand it! They were first warned that they can't have too many special animations but in the end they included all they asked for (for example Ibara's salute). And they put a lot of care into Wataru's ponytail animation!! <3

Such a passion project. I'm glad HappyEle supported their idea and let them make it into a real app. I'm again thinking that HappyEle/Cacalia CEO interview where he said he's letting the employees do what they love and want to do.

My theory rn is 1-1 the ibanatsu tour, 1-2 kanata climax, 2-1 sora climax, 2-2 valentines day tour, 3-1 tsukasa climax, 3-2 nagisa climax (march could be swapped depending on when checkmate anime comes out actually), 4-1 alkakurei tour. Wait but this leaves one more event in the rotation for 4-2 right? The new one always starts at the end of april/ beginning of may no? So.....what event am i missing......... maybe you are getting that mam event afterall lmao. Or not actually im taking it back from you we're getting the first kaname center event. I said so, and it must happen. I think a mam climax would be redundant, we already wrapped up for him in the double face event, where he realised he needs a new identity and cant in fact me mama (Also, the df album already had the mam songs and his solo. So from a marketing perspective theyre not gonna do a surprise mam climax, i dont think. But who knows what happyele are thinking, truly).

When mam does come back it will definitely take another form, a rebranding. I can see it being one of the early !!! stories too. Very Veery curious how we're doing the change of eras this time, im just speaking out of my ass with speculations here

i knew some of the context of past fine thanks to the anime, but i was unprepared at how clear they show tsumugi’s frown at the start. but then they have him smile for the performance and UGH the change in expression is so good but pAINFUL

this exchange piqued my interest but i didnt know what the details were exactly until i finished the whole mv and rewatched it again. 

the somewhat bittersweet/sad expression on tsumugi’s face as he looked towards eichi. then immediately followed by eichi’s look of surprise as tsumugi turns to continue singing. now my thoughts were all over the place so i actually went and search for the lyrics video of Genuine Revelation on youtube to find the english translation 

and apparently, this was the line they were singing; “The stars that can no longer shine will be annihilated”. Thankyou Nasumi Violet for their video (link sends straight to where they sing this line)

my brain is small for this i feel like this has an underlying meaning because of the contract and because this is their last performance but i feel like im reaching 

the next part that interested me was eichi’s surprised expression, and i was thinking to myself, why’s the man surprised?

his eyes were kept on tsumugi’s in confusion/curiosity(???) so whAT’s happening why is this here happy ele whAT ARE YOU COOKING

so i decided to look at the other mv and went to the part where they sing the same line. you know just out of curiosity its not like they have the same movements or anyth-

oh. no wonder eichi’s surprised

obviously im not expecting them to do the same choreography because their stage is different here, but this action of having their hands reached out like that is definitely something they planned beforehand. so for tsumugi to not reach his hand out the same time eichi does, maybe eichi does have a reason to be a bit surprised. not enough to disturb the performance, but enough to be taken aback

makes it a bit interesting, however, that their duo line lasts for four bars, and their hands reaching out like that only comes on the second bar. However, tsumugi reached out for eichi on the first bar. a whole, 4 count bar before eichi does it (that is to say, the one in the animation mv, eichi’s hand reaching out was delayed slightly compared to the game mv but its basically the same thing)

its one thing to have their choreography be like that, camera angles and everything. but its another thing if eichi tenshouin is SURPRISED mid performance and thEY MADE THAT VERY CLEAR 

i also noticed, at least for the game mv, that this was the only time tsumugi and eichi interacted onstage. the other 89% of the time, the two were apart with hiyori and nagisa between them, as if deliberately keeping them separate

so for tsumugi to not even have his hand out the same time eichi does, where its the ONLY time for them to interact onstage, on their LAST performance together makes it oh so painful 

ignoring technicalities aside, its also like tsumugi cant bear to look at eichi for long. and eichi’s surprised expresssion while he reached out to tsumugi, who’s turned away from him, its like he’s watching someone slip away from his fingers, the consequences of his actions catching up to him and he’s not even realizing it

So @mishkakagehishka's other post here reminds me of some of my own observation on ! and !! era, and since it's a huge derail I figured I might as well make a separate post.

So the central thing about enstars is that it's always been character focused. The story tend to takes an amoral and apolitical stance and isn't really about who's right and who's wrong. It's really about characters and their individual growth. And for the school era, that works out really well. The characters are in an isolated fishbowl where their decisions can change their world, but doesn't really impact the world outside.

So on one hand, this means it's hard to place much material weight to the character's actions. Like... okay, the 5Es were "executed" during the "war", but they're still alive... And it just seems like a lot of the stakes are more metaphorical than physical.

Contrast this with the (sometimes comically) insane consequences in the !! era. When Alkaloid are roped into ES's pyramid scheme they're literally gonna be in debt to ES for the rest of their lives if they fail. That's serious shit. They're not gonna be metaphorically killed. It's literally close to indentured slavery. And like... you also know that ES is benchmarking for the idol industry going forward, and they're making an industry where idols are paid in scrip. So how they do things has real consequences to society. (See RhyLin neighbourhood gentrification/renewal project during Succession Match.)

So like... yeah it's cool that enstars is dipping its toes into social commentaries now. But as the scale of the plot gets grander, I personally find it distracting from the character's personal drama. (Who cares about Keito and Rei's nerd drama when there's a whole racialized neighborhood's fate hanging by a thread?) Which is insane because THE PERSONAL DRAMA IS WHAT THE NARRATIVE WILL ACTUALLY RESOLVE! And like... here's the thing. I love social commentaries. I love politics. But Enstars narrative continues to be, for the most part, stubbornly amoral and apolitical. The idols are (most likely) never going to unionize no matter how much the narrative implies they're in a capitalist hellscape. It's not that kind of story. It's about individual characters finding their individual happiness.

Which brings me to Korka's point earlier. I do think there is a noticeable tonal shift between ! era and !! era, where I feel like a lot of the ! stories feels more focused and... while it's not at all down to earth, I get the illusion that the character in focus and their issues are the whole world due to the limited scale. While the !! stories can sometimes lean a bit heavy on the shock value and also feel a bit... scattered with all the themes/commentaries going on.

(As an aside, knowing some meta info, Akira had a bit more directions/shackles from HappyEle back in ! era.)

Anyway I think there's give and take for both. With the stories I've read so far, I'm actually among the people who prefers ! era writing. (Sad!) But !! def has its draw too.

(this is also going to be just for the first game (referred to as "!-era"), since i'm actually less read on !!-era (the second game/the one that got localized) than i am with ! . i think it's necessary though since ! has the most basic necessary lore in it. this means the newer units, alkaloid and crazy:b, won't be mentioned-- SO sorry if you were hoping to hear about them in particular)

where do i find the stories?

using the wayback machine to browse the ensemble stars fan wiki is a great, easy place to find a good majority of !-era stories! you can still use the direct site to preview stories for summaries and involved characters, but unfortunately since happyelements struck the fan wiki for copyright and got every translation hosted on it taken down, wayback is the only way i know of to access links to stories that were hosted there.

here's the link i usually refer to for quick access to stories on the wiki! this one will bring you right to the main story. to branch off and find others, use the Story tab under the wiki's title!

if a story you want to read isn't on the wiki, or you'd just rather read from a different source (wayback runs a little slowly + search bar won't work, and fandom wiki is... what it is), a quick google search is still likely to get you where you want to go. many fan TLers still host their story translations in places like tumblr blogs, dreamwidth pages, twitter threads, or other personal websites!

most basic lore please start here - main story and The War™

the Main Story in ! covers trickstar's revolution of yumenosaki against the status quo enforced by the student council, led by eichi (also leader of fine). you're about to get very acquainted with trickstar; other units do play important parts but trickstar are your protagonists for now. what's equally important about mainsto though is the introduction to dreamfes, SS, and how these idols are actually battling it out through singies and dancies. it'll get you familiar with how things work around here in ye old enstartown, how wild and absurd stuff can get, and you'll get brief intros to several characters and units as well! not everyone but... most of them

after mainsto i strongly recommend reading the Reminiscence stories (aka The War™) !! these take place 1-2 years before the main story and contain VERY juicy general lore for the series. if you aren't leaning towards any units after main story, you probably will be after these. the war stories also provide REALLY important context for character development of LOTS OF THESE GUYS. you don't really have to read them in chronological order (i didn't), so if you're curious: Crossroad features Undead and Akatsuki (particularly rei and keito), Marionette features Valkyrie (past), Checkmate features Knights (get ready for leo tsukinaga), and Element features Fine and Switch (this is a big one). hopefully from reading the main story and the war someone will have caught your eye, whether it's a particular unit or one or two characters on their own! from here the best path to take is just to follow whoever you're interested in and want to know more about! there's lots of stuff going on with like every unit so the world is your oyster... and if you're lucky you'll get worms of the brain like me and my valkie disease <3

the best resource ever for where to go next is this reading list spreadsheet !! i use this ALL THE TIME; it's sorted by unit and further by individual character to point you to stories that will teach you about your chosen guys.

anw!! spicy summed it up pretty well, mayoi's intrusive thoughts and horrible self image likely stem from her upbringing and being treated as subhuman and isolation from people. despite this, its still really kind and does try to help people out and be there for them, even if the intrusive thoughts tend to make it out to be twisted she's genuinely trying her best

now, if you were to ask me about mayoi's character writing i think i'd have to admit ive been kinda looking at it through rose colored glasses a bit. i think that having a character that like. actually has intrusive thoughts is great and thats the reason i was drawn to it but. id be lying if happyele was handling her properly ngl, im currently terrified for this tour

as for theories i think the most popular one right now is that mayoi is in some way connected to the shinkai cult, i think the details vary from person to person but kanata has canonically said that mayoi felt familiar, also that would probably explain the living underground for like. 17-18 years. i personally like the shinkai cult theory plus i think she has catholic trauma of some kind bc like. look at her

fun facts!! she's in the sweet club and overnight outdoors party as well as the ninja association, it's been told horror stories about the sakumas and has a master key to every room in ensemble square, and she likes grapes and stuffed animals<3 also this isnt canon but i hc her as transfem she/it!

yeah i think they could redesign the eden outfits.. no offense but. sure they match and have swishy coats but i feel like when you look at the eden stage outfits they don’t really. say anything about the unit’s music/theme?? if that makes sense..

HI EDENP AND FASHION ENTHUSIAST HERE. I HAD SO MANY THOUGHTS ABT EDENS DESIGN I REDESIGNED THEM A W H I L E AGO. this is a v v messy design i did more just to put my ideas on the paper but.

here's the thing. yeah it hurts to admit but happyele didn't fully know what they wanted to do with eden originally. their outfits don't really scream anything, it says oh yeah they're fancy and probably antagonists and that's it. but the thing to me is that eden is so much more than that as the story kept going. Based on lyrics alone yeah eden isn't the pure unit and anything like that and hell they were never meant to be, their entire thing is to conquest and expand their influence, and in the way they got close to each other. I think the concept of the name alone leaves space for a lot of paths, white and light outfits, intricate and shiny outfits... but for our current Eden, i still think darker colors fit them better. They aren't antagonists anymore, but they still care this edge specific to them. Not on the undead style of "oh they're bad boys and fantasy creatures" (in the case of koga and rei), but something more akin to the sin itself, to the feeling of rebellion but in a different way from crazyb, of wanting to express yourself without being bound by whatever it is. they're an ambitious unit, which is why even if i think the darker tones should be kept, the gold should also continue to be embraced by their designs along with flowy fabrics. Yes, they may not be the perfect image of eden, holy, but they still carry said name, they still carry that reputation of being above others. Nagisa letting his hair down also would just work so much better for his god thing but that's another thing

Yeah lately things have been pretty weird with how HappyEle has been doing things and it's like... hmmm. I assume they have a plan and a reason for why they're doing this. But they have also been/are making things easier for us with the way they're handling the events.

We get 50 whistles for each climax event, which I do understand and it makes sense since, well, 100 whistles is usually given for special celebrations/campaigns. And when it comes to the climax events that are supposed to be really important, it makes sense that they're gonna put them all on equal grounds rather than some getting 100 whistles while others get the usual no whistles. And maybe 50 whistles might not seem much, but damn, they will really help and make grinding a little easier and cheaper.

Not to mention that supposedly the album announcements will coincide with the climax events like Crazy:B album does with their climax right now. Personally I am still suspicious of that theory, so we'll have to see if it holds up in the future. Though considering the album *does* contain the climax event song, it's very likely that the theory will hold up. Which will also make things easier for the players since, if they are going to announce a new album every broadcast, it will (in most cases) give a bigger timeframe on knowing what event is coming than the timeframe of a tsukisuta guest announcement. Which means more time to prepare and grind dia. It will keep (f2p) people from pulling on gachas bc they know what event is coming.

No anni cards makes it easier too because nobody will spend dia on it because they simply don't exist.

Extra memorial coins though? I think that's just to give players more of a chance to get the cards they want because it's been some time and theh probably estimated that people are more likely to grind a lot for the climax events, so they want to reward that. Probably also to give potential new players a boost as well since we seem to be at peak enstars or smth.

So??? What *is* HappyEle doing here. Whistles, album, no anni cards. It's all very strange. They're being awfully kind here. Are they swimming in money this much that they can afford to be nice? That they can afford to continue making the reminiscence anime adaptations as well? All without repercussions? It just seems a little too good to be true, all of this. I also don't think they're gonna end the game just yet, but all this generosity makes me very suspicious of their intentions.

As for the climax events themselves? To me they always seemed like they were going to be the events that will give every unit TRUE development. The development that's needed to keep the story going and have new options open up for the writers. Like idk if it's just me and my Trickstar tunnelvision, but it feels like we have gotten nowhere lately in terms of development and story. Of course we have had Yuta's hairstyle change and we have had Ryuseitai's change, but what has really happened?? We continued the godfather plot, but where are they actually going with that now? Speaking as a TrickstarP, what the fuck is going to happen to them. They haven't really done much either, there's been some things dropping, but nothing that really brought them to a changing point. And it's been for a lot of characters that way, dropping some things here and there, but never tying up the loose ends. We have had Obbligato, but there's still a lot more that they can do with it, will they do anything with Kaname? Who knows!

I guess one thing they finally addressed though was Makoto with Portrait. You know, after 7 years. But still, there's a lot more to just conclude or reveal than just Makoto's trauma. And speaking of Portrait! It's been 7 months since then. It's been 7 months since our first and only look back scout. The scouts that were supposed to happen periodically like circle scouts. Well I have yet to see it!

Though I would assume that they are cooking up those look back scouts as much as they are cooking up those climax events... I hope...

But you know what worries me? All of these climax events are going to be this rotation. I worry that there's going to be sooo much happening so shortly after another that everyone is going to explode with information. You could say that the SS was also a lot, but those were 8 events, climax is going to be EVERY unit which is 14 fricking events. 14.

Everything has been so weird lately and I trust HappyEle is just cooking a 14 course meal for us, but part of me just wonders what the actual plan is.

okay so i'm only like halfway through the anime and have not read any of the audio drama translations yet (they are on the wiki though thank god they didnt pull a happyele and take them down) but basically hypmic is like. they banned deadly weapons and said if you wanna fight someone you have to use these hypnosis microphones which manifest different powers and forms depending on the user and like.

^^ samatoki's. its one of my faves so far ahaha and anyway it does have the problem of All the Evil People are Women but two of them are milfs so. do with that what you will amsdfiop. Its just guys doing rap battles mostly against people who get in their way or bad guys (depending on the unit. samatoki's unit is mostly just fighting guys they dont like where as buster bros and matenro are more fighting against street thugs and terrorists as one does).

i have really latched onto it because my self inserts for fairy tail and one piece when i was like 16 had very similar power concepts so i am living my best life here. Also aside from buster bros all the characters are 20-35 which feels like a breath of fresh air holy shit 😭😭😭 the leader of matenro is 35 and like. 195cm/6'5. and ramuda is 24 and 155cm/5'1. he's very skrunkly and shaped.
