yknow how i mentioned I'm thinking of writing a spite fic that's just TOTK but the narrative is allowed to acknowledge that imperialism is really fucking evil? Yeah so I might be outlining that fic and let me tell you i have Plans. I've now got a whole backstory about the Gerudo sage, namely what kind of person she must have been to be in the position to meet Rauru and Sonia (aka accompanying Ganondorf to Hyrule Castle, meaning someone he put a lot of trust in), while also being the kind of person that Rauru and Sonia would consider a viable option for a Sage (aka someone clearly opposed to Ganondorf). That's an interesting contradiction, and made me wonder why this woman would be part of Ganondorf's inner circle, but also look like his political opponent on a surface reading, and I wound up following that to the logical conclusion and now her story is making me really, really sad.
Also I found the helmets worn by the four non-royal sages to be really ominous and creepy, along with their complete lack of names, personalities, and that one scene with the four of them spontaneously swearing eternal loyalty to Rauru with zero prompting yet still speaking in perfect unison. That has Implications. I have done things with those implications.
Oh and I thought it was kinda bullshit that Sheikah are completely brushed off in this game, so I dug into wtf is going on there. I mean, it's weird that to fight a war against the Gerudo, Rauru decided that it would be a good idea to try recruit a Gerudo woman to fight against her own rightful king, instead of like... recruiting a Sheikah, y'know the people that can be trusted to be diehard supporters of the Hylian throne. That's a really weird absence, and I've decided that the fourth sage was originally a Sheikah, and they wound up turning on Rauru (over legitimate greivances!), and the resulting backlash caused the split that formed the Yiga Clan, AND caused them to be allied with Ganondorf.

Lore's personality is definitely unique, but I can't help wondering if it was inspired a little bit by Pinkie Pie? The inexplicable chaos seems to be a bit similar.
Lore is not, in any way, inspired by Pinkie Pie, although I will admit they do seem similar when put next to each other.
What Lore actually is, is me letting my ADD run absolutely wild and just slapping down whatever the first nonsense that crosses my brain is and turning it into Lore's dialogue. And behavior. And general personality.
(Lore is my personality without all the pesky societal filters in the way)

honestly the villagers in zelda ii are all so kind and willing to help and they beg link to save hyrule like where did people get the idea that everyone hates link or is suspicious of him etc like he can just waltz into so many peoples homes without supervision and get spells from their elderly family members like. idk! the only negative thing about this hyrule is the monsters. the people all seem ready to support link however they’re able and i think that should be explored more in lu fics

so I’ve doodled my HC designs of viktor/archemorus a couple times now and while I kinda wanna show them off, I’m also really really self-conscious about sharing the designs ;;
i think the main issue is like. there’s no one else out there making content for them so afaik I’d be the first one to put out drawn content and designs and that’s. super spooky!!

something Breath of the Wild did really well that I feel like subsequent Zelda games set in the same universe have just chucked straight in the bin is how it handled Shiekah tech, the Guardians, and especially the Divine Beasts. someone online once said, in reference to the power we allow the (US) government to have, that you should never create something you wouldn’t want your enemies to be able to use on you (because as we’ve seen, you never know who’s going to win the next election), and Breath of the Wild drives that point home with brutal efficiency. The people of Hyrule spent all this time and resources unearthing the Guardians and the Divine Beasts, only to have then hijacked by the enemy, turning their world into a waking nightmare and resulting in the deaths of the Champions, the King, and countless innocents besides. Hell, technically Link even died, and had to spend a hundred years in a place called the Shrine of Resurrection in order to recover. Zelda, meanwhile, was forced to spend those hundred years trapped in Hyrule Castle with her worst nightmare, holding the line and saving Hyrule from a worse fate yet. they eventually get the Divine Beasts back, but not the Guardians. and it doesn’t change or reverse the damage done. the Champions are still dead. the 100 years still happened. Hateno Fort is still a ruin, as are many other places.
then you have Age of Calamity, which creates an alternate universe in which it’s fine, actually, the Divine Beasts are just fun little toys you get to drive around once in a while killing enemies by the thousands and they never really turn on you in a way that matters. which, okay, Age of Calamity was never meant to be that deep, and considering it canon in any way is probably a stretch. and even in Age of Calamity, you never get the Guardians back, so it’s not really that different from how Breath of the Wild ends, except that you get these fun little weapons of mass destruction to play around with every once in a while (in Breath of the Wild the Divine Beasts literally only do one thing).
but then there’s Tears of the Kingdom. which wipes away the Shiekah tech, and its history, completely. Tears of the Kingdom, which gives you access to Zonai tech in its place, except the Zonai tech never turns on you in the catastrophic way that the Shiekah tech did. sure, the Yiga clan uses it sometimes, but they’re always very defeatable. they never create anything like the nightmare devices you see people making on youtube. you can create drones, cages made of electric fencing, anything you can imagine, really, and then stand back and let those devices do the work for you. and this is fine and there’s never any downside.
and, just... idk. it makes me feel like Tears of the Kingdom had nothing to say, really, not like Breath of the Wild did. Tears of the Kingdom took all the worst parts of the storytelling in Breath of the Wild (the memories, the lack of forward momentum), exacerbated them, and removed every ounce of nuance and meaning its original possessed. there’s nothing to be learned here, nothing to be said -- not about weapons of mass destruction (a topic I would definitely expect Japan to have a lot of opinions about), not about the pressure we place on our children, not about grief or loss or learning to live in a shattered world and find meaning and joy in it. they’ve got a few shallow moments where Link gets to rely on his friends, which is nice I guess, but they didn’t really do much with that. story-wise, the whole emphasis is on Zelda and the Zonai, and there is just... really nothing going on there.
so, idk. I think that’s why Tears of the Kingdom just doesn’t work as well for me, story-wise. I really enjoyed the gameplay, and I will say that the ending was much more emotionally satisfying (which is very very important since the end of a video game is supposed to be your reward for all the effort you’ve put in to beat it, especially in a Zelda game), but overall, it was just... missing something. and I think it’s a little sad.

GANONDORF X ZONAI READER ❤️
Tumblr media
WOAH! I'm done with this one now. A big smutty fanfiction. Again, Ganon is evil, bad, a villain etc. so buckle up people.
This is a Rauru and Sonia daughter reader. I imagined the oc I drew but there are no descriptions beside long hair one time toward the end so you can put yourself, whatever simp you are. 😊
Minors do not interact please.
Warnings: spoilers if you haven't watched the tears memories in the game, size difference, monster fucking (He is basically one when he transforms), chocking, pain, death (not the reader), little mentions of blood, manhandling, dubious consent, non-con, gloom pleasure (not telling what I mean)
Words: 3755
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
The breeze was gentle outside as you sat in the garden with your father and mother, King Rauru and Queen Sonia. Two guards were standing straight, eyes looking cautiously the outskirts for any menace despite peace reigning for as long as you could remember. There were the zonai soldiers your parents built as well. You didn't think anything would happen. There was an accident two weeks ago but you hope nothing similar would ensue.
"I'm happy to hear you are getting better with your power." Your mother expressed her joy gently. "It takes me back to when I was your age. It was a surprise."
"Three people with a tear of time. Now that is interesting." Your father scratched his chin in deep thought. You perked up at this statement. He was talking about Zelda.
"I'll have to find her after tea. I wonder what she wanted to talk about with me."
Sonia put a hand on his. "Don't fret over this, dear." She grabbed her cup, sipping silently. The curved of her lips was not invisible to you and your father. "Just enjoy the present for now, you need it before they come for the matters we talked about."
"Who?" You looked at them curiously. You had no clue. "Don't we already have treaties between the people of the regions?"
"Not all, Y/N." That was enough to understand your father's words. He seemed uncertain as well, so why doing this?
"But—" Your eyes gazed at your still full cup of tea. It was a bad approach in your opinion. "Did you asked them?" He shook his head, making your brows furrowed even more.
"He responded to our demands and I accepted. I'll see to it for an agreement this evening."
"I don't think this is a good idea, father." Your voice was but a murmur. "Didn't they send mordugas two weeks ago to attack? If we hadn't being there—" You stopped yourself from finishing your sentence, closing your eyes a moment. The thought of death scared you and there is a high chance that it would've been a sucess for the Gerudos.
"You are thinking too much my dear." Your mother spoke sweetly with tender eyes. "Why don't we take one step at a time? Let enjoy this morning together for now."
"Sonia's right." Your father continued. "We are well protected and if something doesn't feel right, we'll make more preparations, alright Y/N?"
You nodded weakly. Your troat was dry and no tea could quench your thirst.
°•°•°•°
You now sat in the throne room, next to your mother. Your father was in the center and Zelda next to him on his right, standing. Since the moment the Gerudos arrived, you couldn't bring yourself to look at him. This man was a dark mystery but he was making you uncomfortable. Like a prey despite your mother's power coursing through your veins. You were still thinking your father was playing with fire.
"On behalf of the gerudo, for taking so long to accept your repeated invitations, it is our desire to be accepted into the protective embrace of your kingdom. To serve it faithfully." He kneel after the women who accompagnied him, one hand resting on his knee.
"A welcome appeal, Ganondorf. I will accept your vow of featly to the kingdom of Hyrule."
Your eyes widened toward your parent. Was he serious? "Father—" You whispered, bewildered but he exchanged a look that was enough to silence you and sat farter in your throne with a still rigid back.
"I understand that a single male is born to the Gerudo every one hundred years. Receiving such an appeal from you, a hero to his people and a king by birth," Rauru closed his eyes with a faint smile. "Well, it is truly reassuring."
"It is my honour." Ganondorf spoke slowly. With his head hidden in the darkness, you couldn't see his expression. "When your Zonai ancestors first descended upon these lands long, long ago, they must have seemed to be gods. And now you rule as king and have taken a Hyrulean woman as you wife." Your father sound cautious at Ganondorf words, frowning. "As well as birth a daughter of both race." Your eyes met his amber, almost red ones, petrified under the gaze while a phantom grin dressed his lips. You felt a gentle hand touched yours and looked to your mother. Her eyes were forward but the warm of her touch put your mind at ease a little. "Your Majesty has certainly risen above your admirable lineage. Most impressive."
"It is unfortunate that the noble Zonai no longer grace this world with their presence." The sunset passed through the windows of the castle and the light colored the Gerudo in flaming red. You supressed a gasp at the view as his gaze turned a sharp moment to you before turning to the king. "All except you and your sister, that is."
Rauru joins turned paler as he grasped the cold arms of his seat. He had a calm exterior nonetheless. "Even if something were to happen to me, both my kingdom and the peace it brings will endure for generations to come." An ominous silence followed before your father voice was heard again. "Your actions today are appreciated, Ganondorf. I look forward to your futur endeavors. You may leave."
"You Majesty." The man bowed before getting up in one swift motion, taking his sword with him. You saw the eyes of the devil one last time then he was gone, Gerudo women following behind him.
You heartbeat was fast against your chest as your eyes were fixed on the double doors at the end of the room. You didn't hear what Zelda had said, losing yourself in your own mind for a minute. Your father's words were short. "I am well aware of his evil nature. For that reason, and others, I want him close. It will be easier to keep an eye on him."
"I still think this is not a good decision, father." Rauru's eyes turned to you with slight surprise. "Something bad is going to happen. I sense it and it's unbearable." You clenched the tear that was neatly placed where your heart was. "I doubt Ganondorf is duped enough to stay tranquilly without attacking. He did it once, who said he won't do it a second time?"
Sonia, your mother, was stroking your back slowly, drawing circles to calm you while he got up and advanced toward you. "Y/N, I am touched you worry so much about us and the people here but this is nothing to worry about.  Everything will be alright." He smiled, almost hugging your form. You closed your eyes.
"If anything happens, we will be prepared." Your mother finished, looking at him, then at Zelda. You followed her gaze, watching the girl sending you her own uncertained smile.
°•°•°•°
A week went by and Zelda talked to you about her own concerns regarding the Gerudo king. His name was familiar to her, but she couldn't put her finger on it. You both agreed that something was wrong at least. It made you feel less paranoiac that you weren't thinking alone.
Outside of your worries, you practiced more of your power with your mother and were getting better at it. You were able to stop time on bigger objects and for a longer period of time. She was proud of you, and your father was as well.
A month passed before Zelda had send you a letter to meet her one night with chances to talk deeper in the matters that you were both preoccupied with. When you reached the exterior halls however, that's when you felt that this meeting wasn't normal. She had being quiet for the whole walk, even with the both of you alone. You looked at the scenery from the ruins before you gazed behind your shoulder and turned to her. "We are alone now. What did you want to talk about with me, Zelda?" A distorted smile showed on her lips, taking you aback. "Zelda?"
"It's was so easy. You are such a naive girl." You were too much in shock to be embarrassed at her statement. Her head leaned on the side, almost too much to be comfortable. A sharp object slide from her hand suddenly and you exclaimed in fright when it flew toward you. What you discerned was a knife stopped milimeters from your face.
You hadn't use your power—
"Oh my, I am surprise to hear you say such a thing." Sonia appeared around the corner.
"Mother!"
Her eyes weren't cold but the warmth was gone, slowly advancing toward Zelda, not taking her gaze off the girl. "I was wondering if I was seeing two at the same time, being in one place and another far away in such a short moment is pretty strange, don't you think? You did play your game pretty well." Your mother's power was still on then grabbed the weapon and tossed it on the ground gracefully. "But if you're not her, that means you are a puppet of Ganondorf."
You watched with wide eyes, stunned. "A puppet?" Did that mean that the conversations you had weren't with her? Were any?
The body decomposed as the marionette laughed mischievously. Red and purple formed on it until there wasn't anyone there anymore but a weird sent in the air.
You watched wary for anything abnormal and when you saw nothing, you let your guard down. You sighed, turning around to Sonia, wide eyes at the person standing behind her. You hadn't time to call for her as your mother was stabbed in the back, gasping in pain and surprise. The killer snatched the tear on your parent's necklace and she crumbled to the floor, blood on her white dress. Tears welled up in the corner of your eyes.
"Mother!" You rushed to her, holding her body for dear life. "Please don't be dead. I'm begging you. Don't die, please!" Your powers weren't strong enough to turn back time and you hated yourself for it. But you despised even more the man in front of your kneeling form.
Grin wide, his chest vibrated as he roared maniacally. Ganondorf clutched the tear in a vice grip as it pulsed with power. "Finally it is mine." The tear materialized on his forehead with gold and the ground started shaking under your form. You held your mother tighter as dark mist surrounded the man, the scream of victory the only hint he was still there. You hid your view from it, your head in the crook of your parent's neck as you waited to wake up from this horrible nightmare. It wasn't real. It could've not been.
You were abruptly gripped by your dress, feet dangling off the stone ground, your hands instinctively reaching to get out of his hold.
"You can struggle all you want, princess." A dark voice grunted, sounding amused. "Nobody is here to save you now, not even your developing power of time."
Eyes wide, they were met with a changed man. His title of Demon King was fitting more now than ever with his monstrous appearance. His scleras became black, contrasting with the same eyes colour as before. The hair grew longer but the places where two horns had emerged. His robes were created of the same stuff that came out when he stole the tear, a similar substance that Zelda, whoever it was the real one or not, talked to you about from her own era.
He was demonic.
"Your foolish king took for granted the godlike power you had all in your hands, not using it to its full potential." His eyes slitted and your heartbeat quickened. While you felt overpowered by his stare alone, his grip on you was making things more difficult. You tried to kick him in vain, getting but a disorted chuckle in response. "Your mother is merely the first victim of his arrogance and she won't be the last, believe me."
The sounds of the doors resonated and tears cascaded down your cheeks at the new voice. "Y/N!" Your father was here and by the lighter sounds of feet, Zelda was as well. "Let her go, Ganondorf." He growled, barring his teeth in anger as his third eye opened.
"You tried to control me, Rauru." The changed Gerudo spat, but smirked nonetheless. He was in a better position than all of you. His grip was now on your throat, body turned toward them and they heard a gasp for air while you looked desperately at your father and friend. "You will die knowing that you fail!" He exclaimed darkly, then gazed at you struggling. "As for her, I have other plans in mind."
"You bastard!" You chocked without thinking, grasping for anything while extending your hand toward your parent. You were losing consciousness.
"What foul language for a Zonai princess." He grinned wickedly and looked to the king. "That will need punishment, don't you think, Rauru?"
Pain started to course through your body and you whimpered loudly, regretting your decision. It felt like it was burning, but weak now, it was easier to not do anything instead of fighting against the hold Ganondorf had on your neck.
Zelda was mouth opened. "I recognize it now, it's the gloom!"
Rauru looked horrified and helpless while the Gerudo was smug, an evil smirk reaching his ears. "What are you going to do now, king?" He emphasized on the last term. Darkness was creeping around your body until it reached your chest. It stopped growing but it was more painful than earlier.
"Please, stop! It hurts!" Your cries made your father's heart clenched, seeing you trashed around feebly. He should have listened to you. Maybe then you wouldn't be in the grasp of this awful individu. Maybe then, Sonia would've not died.
Ganondorf threw his newfound magic toward them with his free hand, Rauru immediately protecting himself, Zelda and your mother but you saw it wasn't enough. The shield was not stronger than the attack and dread filled your guts when you heard your friend teleported the three of them away, a guilty look in her eyes.
Your lips quivered, wanting to curl in a ball as the situation kicked in. You were alone now with this monster. The man huffed in annoyance, dropping you without a care, resulting in scratches on your hands and knees. You winced and choked on air, your respiration slowly going back to normal after the gloom disappeared. Watching him in a mix of fear and hatred, he send you a curled smirk in response. "This world as it is now is doomed and you will be the first to see it crumbled."
"You won't get away with this." You spat, tears slowly drying.
"Oh, but I will." Ganondorf seized your wrist, turning you around so you were back to his chest and Hyrule in your peripheral vision, a blood red moon high in the sky. Monsters of all size were attacking, destroying everything and killing everyone while people screams filled the air, making you cry again. You averted your eyes but he wasn't having it. He gripped your chin with his whole hand, his breath on your ear, making you watched. "I am the king now. After all these years of been belittled by your people, seen as nothing but lowly thieves—I am in control."
You gritted your teeth. "You're just a monster."
His wicked laugh rang in your ears, making you shuddered with closed eyes while your ears and cheeks redened, feeling his face next to yours. "You're hurting me now, princess." He mocked, claws stroking your face with slow movements. They descended in the line of your breasts, then to your stomach, resting in the middle and you tried to trash away like you were just touched by fire. Fortunately the gloom was nowhere on your body but his hand had replaced the burning feeling. You looked at him in terror behind your shoulder when your body was bend on the rock debris. "Now, let's see how powerful this new body is."
"Ganondorf—" Your dress was pulled over your waist, dark clawed hands running over your bottom. "Stop this!" His grin only widened at your small voice.
"Pleading for mercy, princess?" He dryly humped against you, grunting like an animal as your cheeks flushed in embarrassement. His chest was touching you, chuckles making it vibrated against your back. "So pathetic. How I would enjoy this blast Rauru seeing your crumbled form because of me. I will savor breaking you until you are nothing but a slave." He groaned silently with half lidded glowing eyes, bit your ear and then pushed you farther down. Gloom invaded from the cracks of the ruins, flowing up your legs and arms until it stayed, clutching your members for restraining any movement. You whimpered against the substance. It was like stone was holding you captive now despite feeling liquid.
Ganondorf undress his robes, his length standing tall. "No, please—"
"Don't try to hide it for me, princess. Your body is responding very well to my power." He smacked one of your cheeks, the skin getting pink at the action and a pained moan leaving your lips. He stroke his member with slow motions before alligning himself to your entrance.
"Don't—Ganondorf. I'm begging you!" You felt helpless and vulnerable against his strong mass. He slid all the way in, creating another sound from you.
"Zonai are truly differents, but Zonai and Hylian?" Ganondorf straightened his back, looking down at your petite form with evil intent. You tried to push him out but it only brought pain. "I'm going to mold your body for me only. My own pet." The man cackled, sensing you clenched around him. You were suddenly feeling warmer as he continued to drilled down into your hole. "Would you like that? I do relished the idea of the Zonai princess reduced to be a lowly servant." The gloom dissipated from one leg as Ganondorf grabbed it, dangling from each rough thrusts he was inflicting. Your moans got louder, the urge to hide your eyes from him as the position was switched. That is, if it wasn't for the dark substance. Glowing ambers stared at your quivering form in amusement, watching your expression slowly turning lustful. "Finally." He pumped harder, your leg on his naked shoulder, gasping every now and then. Sensing struggle from your arms, the gloom disappeared from there as well. The man was slightly surprised when you put them behind him, or you tried, with how massive he was.
"Father—Help me." You cried for help, your brain still conscient as you hold the man. You felt disgusting for falling for such act from a monster such as Ganondorf. However, your body, although new to this, was accepting the pleasure with excitement. A tear fell down and he swipped it out before crashing his mouth on yours, canines grazing your lips and biting, drawing blood. Both hands were on each side of your head as the devil continued to fuck your entrance, juices flowing down the inside of your hips. His tongue entered after, devoring you until air became a need.
Ganondorf let go, gazing at your flushed and sweaty form. He turned your face to him. "Such a disgraceful expression you have on you, princess." He smiled evilly while leaving and entering swiftly until the Gerudo was all the way again. "Fits more a slut than royalty."
"Ngh—!"
"What do you say to your king, princess?"
You let out a whine, your head thrown back from the force. "N—No."
That wouldn't do. Ganondorf became rougher, a dark and serious expression on his face as he took your two legs to put on his shoulders and his own body mass crushing your smaller one. His shaft was pulsating inside and he groaned in his actions, loving how you clenched him like that so tightly. Gloom cascaded down your breast, applying a burning touch to your sensitive parts and the Gerudo smile returned at your voice. Your lips parted, tongue almost out while your whole body shook at each powerful trust.
"What a view" he gripped your troat again, lighter than earlier, and pressed you to the wall, face on the rock and his member pumping inside without mercy. He watched the sight of your buttcheeks rolling in pleasure, slapping them again. Your body moved like a doll, whinning at being stretched by his size while juice dressed his lenght. Ganondorf looked at it, chest rising in evil laughter. "Are you already at your limit, my dear?"
Your mouth let out silenced noises and he arched an eyebrow. "What was that?" He thrusted rougher all the way after been out. You spasmed. "Speak to your master." Ganondorf growled.
It was difficult to open your eyes while the power of his thrusts were inhuman. Your back arched uncomfortably, feeling close to his chest as your head now rest on his shoulder blade. The man huffed in annoyance, taking your waist instead as you continue to bounce on his shaft. "No matter. You are nothing now but a slave—my servant and you will bowed before me." A smug smirk dressed on his lips. "We are already close to that, aren't we, slut?"
"Ganondorf—Ngh—Yes!"
He had break you. Smiling triumphaly, the Gerudo ran a hand through your long hair, claws thugging in a vice grip. "Yes, let me hear you. Scream who you belong to!"
"I belong to you!" You moaned but he entered slower and harder into your entrance.
His breath tickled your ear while you stared lost at a red Hyrule. The man brought you closer to him in a standing position, his member going deeper. His free hand roamed your body hungrily, the other's fingers inside your mouth while the gloom was helping, pulsing on your chest and neck. Ganondorf grunted suddenly. "Now take it all."
You screamed when his essense flew inside, your stomach getting a little bigger at the amount. "So—much!" Your eyes rolled back before you fell limp. If it wasn't for him holding you, you would have met the ground. More gushed at your feet.
"What a waste." Ganondorf snarled at the liquid, fingers pressing at your entrance to block the rest. "But I use more than once what belongs to me. Say goodbye to your dear father, princess, because I am not done with you."
"Far from it actually."

For all the Sidlink fans upset about Sidon getting a fiance in TotK, I have an easy explanation/solution:
It’s a political marriage.
Sidon is royalty. He’s being crowned King. Royalty usually don’t get the privilege to marry for love, but rather need to do so in order to build political alliances and secure heirs. Mipha was able to consider proposing to Link officially because having the Champion of Hyrule as her consort would both strengthen their connections to what was the biggest political power in the area and be a great boon to Zora’s Domain in general, plus if they turned out to be biologically incompatible there was always Sidon for continuing the royal line.
Now, Sidon is the last in his line and trying to give his people a sense of stability while taking the throne amidst another huge upheaval. The kingdom of Hyrule is a shadow of what it once was, and Link himself was gone with no way of knowing if/when he’d return, as well as needing to spend his time/attention on all of Hyrule rather than the Zora specifically.
Meanwhile, Lady Yona is Zora royalty herself making her a good political match, she has qualities and skills that are well-suited to helping the people of Zora’s Domain, and she’s an old friend of Sidon’s which means they’ll probably get along pretty well. Marrying her as a political choice makes perfect sense. And Yona is a small enough character that we honestly aren’t given many indications that there’s more to their relationship than that- old friends who are marrying now to strengthen Sidon’s new reign.
That doesn’t mean Sidon is straight, or that he isn’t still in love with Link. And it doesn’t mean he can’t eventually pursue a relationship with Link, once things have settled down a bit. That sort of thing was pretty common with royalty historically (or at least for men- stupid patriarchy). In this case, Sidon and Yona could have arranged to have an open marriage, with both of them free to pursue matters of the heart outside of their political duties. Or at least, that’s how I’d write it if I was writing canon-compliant Sidlink.
So yeah, Sidlink as a ship is definitely not sunk, even if you do stay completely with canon. It just might look a little different. And I, for one, would love to see shippers play around with this new dynamic.

random thought about the memory system
a big difference between why botws memories worked so well but totks didnt is mainly bc in botw, there wasnt that much plot, you kinda knew what was up by the time you left the tutorial, all memories serve you just as well as link, sending you around a hyrule you dont know, the few scenes of main characters do a good job of giving you an idea of who they are, but the majority is focused on zelda and link, why she acted to cold to him at first and later became friends, the characterization being not jsut in memories but also in how people remember them, their diary etc, when you meet their ghosts theres a familiarity to how they talk to you, they know and care about you, its like giving you late friend one last visit; getting memories out of order really doesnt hurt that characterization and overall it really just serves to flesh out the past and what made this world the way you see it now but mainly it gives you characters
in totk, its ... the main plot driving thing, you are here for the story now more than the world bc you know the world already, besides the sages stuff (that isnt much either besides some legends that apprently were always a thing but never popped up until now), its basically the entire plot and it all hinges on it, its trying to be both plot and character introduction AND characterization, which it simply cant do; we already know zelda and what shes like, but its like the game itself doesnt know what to do with her now, she doesnt do anything, she stands around listenign to strangers talk, whenever she says anything shes dismissed or it simply doesnt matter, the most she does is go around to faceless and nameless sages of old we dont know nor care about in a damn near copy paste scene begging them to help link of the far future somehow even tho they really have no reason to and then she swallows a stone bc she has literally no other choice; fleshing out the past doesnt work either bc this past is so far removed from anything of the world and people you know that theres simply no meaningful connection to make you really care, there are no characters alive that knew the people of old ...except mineru and rauru are still there, but then dont tell you shit, theres so much you dont know about them, their world or history and they dont tell you anything bc *gestures vaguely* ?? even ganondorf only says some standard villain stuff that tells us pretty much nothing about him nor rauru, no one in your time asking you who the hell that ghost powered robot is? no she sits in her robot somewhere deep underground (how does she even get out of there at the end, she needed you to drive her around to her own temple after all) given how straight up obsessed hyrules entire population is with sonau stuff they sure dont do anything with a literal person from that time and then at the end she jsut goes poof, welp, guess we will never, sure, fine keep your secrects; getting the memories out of order destroys literally any kind of story that was there, like it wasnt predicatble from like memory 3 to where it would go (predicable can be good but in this case its boring as hell) anyway
.. theres more i could talk about but this is already longer than intended and i want to do other things but this with my evening, you probably heard most of my problems with this game in my rants by now anyway

I like the general fandom trend to just take the plot of Hyrule Warriors as a loose guideline at best and just use the whole concept as a good excuse to get blorbos to interact across timelines, BUT I'm very disappointed that everyone is missing the comedic potential of a very specific squad of characters:
Young Link (aka Mask), who walks out of the nightmare of Majora's Mask and immediately gets portal kidnapped into a temporal war, takes one look at the whole mess and decides that you could not fucking pay him to admit to being the resident expert on Time Shenanigans. He introduces himself with the title of Hero of Termina, and definitely doesn't have any other ones, that would be crazy. Hero of Time? Never heard of him.
Tetra, who is a kickass pirate captain with zero patience for people trying to shove her into the Designated Princess role, and realizes immediately that Oh Fuck, this Hyrule has a lot of Ideas about how the Hero and the Princess are supposed to properly play their parts, the second they realize she's technically a Zelda they're gonna shove her in a goddamn dress and damsel her again, that's not happening. So she's definitely just a really cool pirate captain, nothing else going on here at all, definitely not the heir of the Hylian royal family in her time, that'd be crazy.
Ravio, who is literally just a palette swapped Link, meaning that the second his hood comes off, things are gonna get Awkward. There's no way in hell he's dealing with all that Hero baggage, that's Link work, so that giant bunny hood/mask is practically superglued to his head, and he's not taking it off for love or money.
Spirit Tracks Zelda, who is just in the Phantom Armour the whole time, and passing herself off as just a friendly ghost posessing a suit of armour to help the Hero of Spirits. Of course she isn't Princess Zelda, that's ridiculous, if she were a Zelda then people would start getting really weird about her technically being dead, and boy does that ever sound like a whole Thing she doesn't want to deal with, so she can't possibly be Zelda, she's just a nice ghost knight. Also, her teenage grandma is here, and that's kinda weird, so it's easier to just not admit to being royalty and avoid that awkward conversation.
Finally there's Sheik, who is not the Princess Zelda of the era straight up abandoning her war torn country for months at a time so she can risk her life in extreme cosplay for no clear reason, but is instead the actual Sheik from Ocarina of Time, who just beat Ganondorf like a month ago and is still trying to process what the fuck to do now. Also, he's been pretending to be a boy since he was ten, and is realizing there's a pretty good chance that he isn't pretending anymore, so that's a whole other can of worms. But for the last seven years of his life, being Princess Zelda meant certain death, so he's not really inclined to introduce himself like when in a new and stressful situation (not to mention he might actually just not be a girl named Zelda anymore), so he automatically introduces himself as just Sheik the spooky ninja man, and fuck he's in too deep to back out now, looks like he's committing to the bit. If you think you sense the Triforce of Wisdom on him, no you don't.
Cue shenanigans as the five of them attempt to hide that they're all actually kind of A Big Deal. The group motto is "Nobody says shit", which is usually delivered as a frantic hiss whenever someone slips up. Just the reunion between Sheik and Mask alone would be absolutely buckwild given how they parted, and how they're both frantically pretending to Not be involved with each other. For added hilarity and/or drama, Sheik gives his semi-bullshit cover story of having just been a friend of the Hero of Time, then runs into said Hero of Time and they both have to desperately pretend not to know each other, because if anyone picks up on the mountain of baggage between them then Mask is busted, and he won't hesitate to drag Sheik down with him out of sheer spite. Not to mention the weird balance of Sheik being used to this Link being a teenager that's actually a small child, and now has to adjust to Link who is a small child that's actually a teenager.
Also, i really feel like we're all missing out on the comedy potential of Ganondorf recognizing Young Link on sight and the two of them immediately launching into a grudge match with some extremely personal and specific insults on both sides. Meanwhile literally everybody else is just standing there watching, trying to process the fact that out of every single person that's been pulled out of time, Ganondorf only has personal beef with a literal nine year old.
I just feel like we're all really sleeping on the potential for Shenanigans here. The whole thing is an absurd mess, why not have some fun with it?

one thing i love about totk’s story is the sense of RESPECT the world has for link. like compared to botw, where he’s this kind of fabled failure of a hero (similar to zelda) who everyone thinks is dead, whose ultimate enemy (clammy ganon) is a beast devoid of personality who *can’t* feel any type of way about him.
but in totk, he is so respected and known for what he has done for the world in the past five years. even when npcs don’t recognize him AS himself, they speak of him highly. yiga clan members hate him so personally and use his actual name. they have fanart of him on the walls. zelda speaks of him SO highly in the past, convincing the sages who are total strangers to tell their descendants to assist him. the sages, in turn, assist him without question, especially the ones who were already his friends. zelda convinces rauru to put his absolute faith in link, and that’s how we get the most badass cutscene in the game: rauru imprisoning ganondorf.
because holy shit, that cutscene. the music is what elevates it, but what’s already there is so good. re: the music, rauru’s theme flowing into link’s triumphant theme during his speech about link beating ganondorf, then flowing back into the resigned resolution his own. goddamn. and then the lingering hyrule castle/gdorf theme fading as he’s imprisoned. goddamn.
and ganondorf (here’s the big point of the post) actually takes link seriously. like the whole “i look forward to meeting him” was partially aloof on his part, but this man was DETERMINED to insult link the second he woke up after this confrontation. he is pissed that people respect link and think he’s capable of stopping him. it feels so personal on his side of things, unlike even windwaker, where ganondorf had a lot of personal stakes and was a complex character, but saw link and zelda more as pawns then adversaries. and in oot he’s straight up just like “uh who’s this kid,” and in twilight princess link doesn’t even know ganondorf is the real villain until the end of the game.
ganondorf meets link in the opening of the game and takes his arm, his sense of normalcy, and best friend away from him. the entire game is link learning how the hell this happened in the past, seeing ganondorf’s arrogant personality and pure contempt for everything he stands for, and wanting very badly to not only save the world he loves, but also his best friend, who sacrificed herself so he may stop ganondorf.
what i’m saying is, that final confrontation feels SO earned. and it’s incredible—the way ganondorf taunts link during the fight, takes cheap shots at his arm, and then essentially kills his own personhood out of a refusal to admit defeat.
there were disappointing things about ganondorf in totk, but this was not one of them. both his and rauru’s characters entirely justified themselves over the course of the story. a month or so out, i am still so pleased with this game.

He's Becomes a Dad || Part 2/2
Part 1
Pairing: Twilight, Warrior, Sky, Wild x Reader
Overview: Congratulations, you're new parents 🎉 Some of the Links are prepared. Others...might need a moment to gather themselves. But rest assured! At the end of the day, they're all going to get a handle on this whole dad thing. Warning: Mentions of miscarriages for Sky's section. Nothing to detailed, but it's there so beware 🙅‍♀️

Tumblr media
It's never been a surprise to you that Twilight would want kids of his own. He never even had to say it aloud, you could just read that look in his eyes whenever playing with the village children. It was a wordless yet ever so contagious request: I want this. And how were you to deny him? Just look at him!
Simply put, children were a top priority of yours almost as soon as you married. It didn't take long for you to become pregnant either (not with Twilight's fierce passion and your shared disinterest towards 'waiting'). Regardless, there were still many tears shed when you found out - all happy, of course, as your husband spun you around in his arms while you both laughed giddily in between quick kisses.
Let's get this straight: Twilight is prepared-prepared. Ordon is that type of close-knit community where everyone helps raise each other's kids, so despite this being his first rodeo as a new dad himself, he has plenty of experience taking care of youngsters. As a ranch-hand, he's also perfectly accustomed to the whole birthing process, having hand-delivered more baby goats than he can count, so don’t worry, nothing about the ‘less glamorous’ sides of pregnancy scare him.
With that being said, Twilight doesn't stress too much aside from the normal concerns about your health, after all he recognizes that not every pregnancy is the same for every woman, but that's exactly why he makes it his personal mission to ensure your comfort.
Feeling particularly ill? He'll make you all the tasty pumpkin soup you could ask for which, believe it or not, works wonders for an upset stomach. Just having a bad day? He'll happily let you cuddle with Wolfie to help you relax. Restless? He'll take you on a horse ride no matter the hour and if you're too far along in your pregnancy to climb onto Epona, a simple walk to Ordon's spring will do since that's the perfect spot to soak your sore body. Twilight is no above carrying you there himself if you ask.
Trust that your every worry is always smoothed; Twilight is there to reassure you no matter how 'little' the problem. Have concerns he can't speak on as a man? He'll happily go ask one of the other village women for you if you're too embarrassed to do so yourself, in fact this guy's already been talking Rusl and Uli's ears off for advice since day one. He doesn't want to leave a single thing to chance regardless of how confident he already feels which is probably why there's a stack of parenting books on his nightstand. Did he clear the shelves in Castle Town? Probably.
You're pretty sure that Twilight already had a 'go-bag' put together before the end of your first trimester, although he’d add to it like a paranoid squirrel up until your due-date. Curious, you had gone through it one day just to get a hint of how overboard he might've gone. Diapers, snacks, blankets, comfortable clothes for you, more parenting books...He does realize you're doing a home birth, right? Most of this stuff he could just grab from the cabinet if needed, but it's sweet that he's trying to be organized.
It isn’t really news to anyone that Hyrule’s heroes tend to land on the quieter side and usually Twilight isn’t much different…There’s a key word in there because you’re quite certain he hasn’t actually shut up since the second you told him you’re pregnant. He can hardly keep his excitement to himself! Oh, but it’s adorable, especially on those nights when he’ll fall asleep mumbling about his joy all while using your swollen stomach as a pillow. It makes your heart swell every time.
When you eventually go into labor, Twilight doesn’t show much outward panic if he has any at all, however he does feel incredibly terrible to watch you go through it without any relief. He feels absolutely useless while unable to take away your suffering the way a good husband should, so to make up for it, he does his utmost best to be your rock during those long hours, talking you through each painful contraction and doing everything in his power to distract you. Back rubs, walks around the house, whispers of sweet nothings…He’s by your side well into the night, keeping it up until it finally comes time to start pushing.
He definitely was not going to say it while you were going through the motions because he’d like to keep his head, but human and goat births are pretty much the same thing minus the actual cursing. He’s in his element then, knowing exactly what to do to ensure a safe delivery for mama and baby. His movements are almost automatic, trained by years of practice as he cleans the little one off before taking the time to admire them fully.
Are you shocked that Twilight is teary eyed? Not at all. Are you upset that he almost forgets about you entirely for a second because he’s so entranced by the baby? Also no, since you need a moment to catch your breath anyway. Don’t worry, though, he does eventually pass you your son reluctantly before hovering at your side with possibly the widest grin you’ve ever seen on the man since your wedding day.
The rest of the night is calm from there on, filled with quiet whispers and cooing as you both take turns partaking in skin-to-skin contact with your baby. Will you be doing this again soon? You’re probably going to need a decent break to recover, but just know that your husband is absolutely ready whenever you are. In the meantime, expect to be showered in endless love and affection because you deserve it for the priceless gift you’ve given him.
Tumblr media
Your relationship with Warrior has always been ‘slow moving’ if compared to most other couples’. For starters, while he may have a formidable reputation for being a supposed lady's man, all that 'skill' of his would go flying out the window whenever faced with your presence, so it took some time (and maybe a near-death experience) for any confessions to be made. In his defense, you're a very beautiful and strong woman who happened to be one of his superiors during most of the war, so please excuse him for usually being awed into silence whenever you showed even an ounce of interest in ‘lil ol’ him. His brain would literally become a windows error.
Even after Warrior did finally find the courage to ask you out, your respected jobs and heavy workloads have often forced your relationship to be put on the back-burner. Marry you? Hylia knows he’s been DYING to! You’re already wearing the ring and everything, but it's not like you're going anywhere anytime soon and he'd rather wait a few extra years to enjoy the perfect moment rather than rush the whole ‘happiest-day-of-our-lives’ thing during a bad time.
Luckily for him, you've never needed a formal certificate to know you own his heart. He proves it to you in other ways every day from cheesy love letters to overly romantic dates during your rare off time, and while you normally adore being the sole subject of his affection, that's exactly how you ended up in this very situation.
You're both adults and as such you won't pretend to be innocent: This wasn't planned in the slightest. Your jobs can be quite chaotic, as previously addressed, so you just wanted to help your husband-to-be relax and destress a bit - nothing new for either of you in itself, although that particular evening would end up weighing heavily on your mind a few weeks later.
To be honest, when you first entered Warrior's office and instructed him to sit down with a stern voice that could rival Commander Impa's, he thought you must've finally grown tired of being engaged for several years, having come to him then to demand that he marry you sooner. Agreement was right on the tip of his tongue when you delivered the bombshell that you were pregnant instead.
Your tone was serious and expression calm, but Warrior knows you well enough to spot the hidden worry in your eyes. It’s justified, of course. Had either of you even discussed having kids before? He doesn’t think so. It’s not like having a baby is a bad thing, though. The idea of creating a small family with you is a pleasant one, it’s just…happening a lot sooner than preferred. You both would’ve liked more time to plan and prepare…but oh well. What’s done is done.
The real concern is will your jobs allow you both time off to take care of a baby? It's not like a war is currently going on, so Hyrule won't suffer too much from having two of its best captains sidelined, however what happens if that doesn't remain the case? What if war breaks out tomorrow or the day after? Warrior can’t let his pregnant fiancée fight in battles! What kind of husband and father would that make him?! But at the same time, is he just supposed to ask that you sacrifice your career in order to spare his? THAT’S NO BETTER!
...All things considered, you'd say Warrior handles the news far better than some might've. Yes, he begins to ‘slightly’ overthink things, although that's exactly why you had him sit down first. Calmly, you take his hand and tell him how things will be (your own way of offering comfort not only to him, but yourself as well). The bottom line is that if you could successfully fight Ganondorf’s army together, you can raise a child together, too. Really, how much harder can it be? You already have some minor experience being unofficial parents to little Time and Wind during the war. Just don't give your own children any magic masks or wind controlling devices and you should be golden.
Thankfully, many of Warrior’s initial fears are proven to be irrational during the earliest stages of your pregnancy. Everyone else was positively thrilled to hear the news and even Impa gave her congratulations, explaining to your fiancé’s relief that she’ll simply assign you more deskwork until it’s fit for you to return back to your normal duties. All he has to worry about in the meantime is making sure you actually take it easy; only a slightly difficult task considering your headstrong nature and insistence on not being ‘coddled’, but hey, if anyone can handle it, it’s the guy who’s hellbent on marrying your stubborn butt one day.
Warrior will admit that there were still some nights when he would nearly pull his hair out while doubting if he’s actually ready to be a dad, however the moment you officially being showing is the same moment he forgets all about any possible regrets and replaces them entirely with daydreams filled with not only his lovely wife, but also a little one who will hopefully think the absolute world of him. He already knows he’ll think of it of them.
Although you may feel a bit nervous towards the prospect of suddenly being parents, that doesn’t change the fact that you wouldn’t choose anyone else to go through this journey with. One look to your side and you’re certain of it. The way Warrior holds his son for the first time, newborn wrapped comfortably in his scarf and dad, eyes half-lidded with exhaustion after hours of labor yet the proud smile evident on his face nevertheless…You were right before: so long as you do it together, you’ll excel in this whole ‘parenting-thing’.
Tumblr media
You had married young - almost as soon as you were able after graduating from the Knight Academy. To everyone else on Skyloft, you have always been the picture image of an ideal couple; the hero and his beloved princess who somehow manage to be completely and utterly smitten with each other even years later. To call Sky your husband is a blessing in itself and you consider yourself lucky every single day. There’s only ever been one problem with your relationship - one single complaint you can think of where neither of you are truly responsible: your lack of children.
When you first married, there was lots of talk, after all everyone was simply dying to know when the first generation on the Surface would be born. Your parents were eager for grandchildren and Zelda, your best friend, had way too much fun teasing you over the matter by expressing her 'surprise' that Sky had yet to give you a baby despite how 'passionate' he’s always been towards you (she would make sure to use those exact words, too).
Initially, you never minded anyone’s curiosity. It’s only natural to expect children from a newly wed couple. It's when that same couple reaches their third then sixth year of marriage without any trace of tiny feet or squealing laughter that those curious and well-meant questions grow quiet with unbearable pity, your shared excitement becoming shuttered sorrow.
At the start there was nothing to worry about. You were both young and not putting that much effort into it, so certain it wouldn't take long for your family to grow. Then the years began to pass and you would try everything the doctor recommended, but every test would still leave you as disappointed as the last. The absolutely worst form of despair came those few times you'd actually get your hopes up only to have them cruelly dashed a few months in.
What were you doing wrong? Sky would always hush your anxieties and do his utmost best to reassure you, however you knew by his own tears that your infertility hurt him just as much, especially when on those quieter nights, you'd suggest that perhaps you simply weren't meant to be parents - that the gods were just trying to tell you both something you were too stubborn to accept.
It's for that reason that you had such mixed emotions once finally able to fall pregnant again. You were optimistic deep down, however after six years of attempts and losses, you were wary to embrace too much joy right away which was shown in the way Sky held onto you for what felt like hours after you told him or how he slept each night with a hand on your stomach even in those early days, internally praying to the goddesses this would be the one.
A month passed...Then two...And three, and four…For once, you didn't feel sick aside from what was considered normal. Maybe a bit of high blood pressure the doctor kept a close eye on, but other than that he’d always tell Sky and you the same thing: they're healthy.
Even then, you’d say you remained extra cautious, not daring to eat nor do anything the doctor so much as hesitated against, however Sky was by far the worst when it came to worrying. As your husband, he considers your physical and mental well-being his personal responsibility, but as the father of your child? His work has doubled!
All chores were to be his alone so that you could rest. Any bout of sickness was closely monitored and tended to. His hand would remain on your stomach from beginning to end, although overtime it would be done less out of fear and more for the sake of bounding, often accompanied by his voice or the melody of his harp which he would happily play for you both whenever you were having a particularly difficult time falling asleep at night.
Now, you didn't dare tell anyone about your pregnancy during the first half, not wanting to deliver anymore bad news should it come, however once the remilit was out of the bag, you became the center of attention much to Sky's conflicted feelings. On one hand, you deserved it for all of your hard work growing a baby, but on the other, that overprotective dad-side of him couldn't help fretting over the vast number of harmful germs your guests could possibly be passing onto you and your unborn child. Did he make everyone wash their hands for ten minutes before visiting? Yes, yes he did.
Beyond being protective, Sky was also very emotional throughout the entire pregnancy maybe even more than you sometimes. He got teary-eyed after every doctor's appointment that confirmed the baby's development, while picking out names together, and even when you were yelling at him for something stupid because as far as he was concerned, you still looked so beautiful standing there with crossed arms and a round belly carrying his child. Oh, but none of that compared in the slightest to the tears that were shed when he actually held his daughter for the first time; that amount of waterworks could put the flood of Faron to shame!
Six years of waiting made you both lose hope. You assumed you’d never be able to have children of your own and even began to look towards other options such as adoption or simply living your lives childless forever…but the day your daughter was born was the day all your anxieties and doubts were finally put to rest. Now, as you cry happily with your husband, you can’t think of a single complaint towards your relationship; it’s officially as perfect as the precious little bundle in your arms.
Tumblr media
Wild and you were still practically newlyweds when you gave him the 'thrilling' news. You were so happy to do so, too, barely able to bite back your excitement while watching your husband lift a small pair of baby pajamas out of a gift box. You were absolutely glowing as you eagerly awaited his reaction and all he could do was simply stare into space as his whole world came crashing down on top of him. Did he look horrified on the outside? He must've, because he swears he could’ve pinpointed the exact moment that shine in your eyes died, a frown etching its way onto your lips. What else was he supposed to do aside from fake a smile and embrace you, keeping you close to his chest so that your delight wouldn't be spoiled by his internal nervous breakdown?
Wild has zero right to be shocked. You had both been intimate (as tends to happen when you're married) not to mention you had made it perfectly clear from the start of your relationship that you would want a family one day. Judging on your eagerness towards the topic, it was never up for debate either; no kids would be a dealbreaker for you, so Wild had no choice but to quietly agree, too afraid to dare utter the truth or voice any hesitation because Hylia forbid you get the wrong idea and leave him.
He thought it would be harmless. Some couples remain married for years before any children follow and you weren't in any big hurry, so he figured he'd have plenty of time to get his act together until the day of your dreams arrived; he didn't think it would happen during your first year of marriage! ...Now he's really dug himself into a hole it's too late to try escaping from…
He’s almost said something - a few times actually. He knows it’s only fair and that as your husband, he owes you proper communication, but each time he opens his mouth, his mind curses him with the image of your sadness. What if you think he doesn’t want this at all? What if you think he hates the baby and hates you for being pregnant? What if you concluded he must want to leave you so you decide to beat him to the punch?!
…Okay, so Wild knows you aren’t going to just walk away. You’ve always been good at listening to his inner demons and acting as his strongest pillar of support, but that doesn’t change his fear that you might be hurt by whatever he has to say and he will not allow himself to ruin your own excitement.
In the years that he’s known you, he can’t say he’s ever seen you quite as happy as when you found out about your baby. He knows he should match that joy, too. Most men do. Hell, Twilight practically sent a five-page essay bragging about his wife's first pregnancy. Truth be told, Wild actually does feel happy. On his better days, he feels that flicker of pride and a hint of eagerness because a family with you honestly sounds wonderful. The problem is, in his mind, it isn't a question as to what he wants, but rather what he deserves.
So much has gone wrong in his past. It doesn’t matter how much you or anyone else assures him otherwise, it’s hard to shake the feeling that he failed Hyrule. He still suffers from so many nightmares and waves of guilt that he can’t properly put into words. You’re still having to shake him out of dazes and smooth his following sobs…How is he going to be a good dad and be there for his child when he can barely stand upon his own two feet like this?
Initially, Wild thought these feelings would go away; that’s why he never spoke them to you. He wanted so desperately to believe they wouldn’t linger, especially after you both got married. He lives in a peaceful world, has a nice home in a quiet village, a beautiful wife who adores him…He should’ve been able to move on from the Calamity already, so why hasn’t he? On his worst nights, it makes him wonder if he’ll ever be okay or if he’s just screwed you and the baby over by tying you both down to him.
These two sides of him - the hopeful and the pitiful - continue to battle for dominance inside Wild’s head throughout each step. Sometimes he’s genuinely smiling with you as you pick out baby names. Other times he’s sitting outside alone trying his damn hardest to remember any piece of his past that might make him feel at least a little better about his luck towards being a dad, preferably a time when he was actually good with kids or even had a family before.
Wild’s internal dilemma comes to a head one fateful night when he’s awoken to the baby’s distressing cries. He had honestly already been awake after a mild case of anxiety, but you on the other hand are tired, worn from nine long months of pregnancy and the early days of active motherhood. The last thing he wants is for you to lose out on precious rest (a rare gift these days), so leaping out of bed, he’s quick to reach the baby’s crib.
Unfortunately, Wild’s natural instincts seem to basically stop right there at the crib’s side. Hands hovering above, he tries his best to calm his daughter through whispered assurances and attempts at cooing the same way he’s seen you do. When that doesn’t work, he awkwardly picks her up, cuddling her close to his chest while quietly pleading at this point. Is she hungry? Does she need a diaper change? Did she have a nightmare? Whatever it is, if you wake up, you’ll take over and he’ll be left to stand aside feeling like he can’t even do the basic task of comforting his own child and -
- To his astonishment, his efforts actually work. It really must’ve been as simple as a nightmare because slowly, the baby falls silent, seemingly forgetting all about her troubles as she finds solace gazing up at her daddy with the widest blue eyes and a stuck-out tongue that can’t seem to keep itself in her mouth. It looks rather goofy, so Wild can’t help but chuckle, although the sound is soft as his heart melts under the attention she holds towards him. If he didn’t know any better, he’d say it’s almost like she’s looking at her entire world…
Maybe some would say this moment isn’t necessarily anything special, but for Wild, it’s everything. As if suddenly a pro, he’s able to rock the little beauty gently back to sleep, his pleas turning into words of admiration as he tucks her into bed. There, he continues to keep watch over her until he feels tired himself, all the while thinking: he might be broken from years of trauma, and he might not be the best husband or parent out there because of it, but that's not going to stop him from doing everything in power to be there for his princesses.
