i have more to say, mainly about peri and his parents' initial separation, as well as the parallels that can be found with this version of peri and hazel, but i feel it would be best to end it here :)

cosmo and wanda's form of affection comes in constant and excess validation for every little thing peri does. they're clingy and suffocating with their love, and as much as peri grew to dislike it, he can't help but become dependent on this validation; it makes peri absolutely terrified of doing anything wrong which might disappoint them, and everyone else who perceives him

timmy might be the only one that would treat him normally. timmy's rough around the edges, but i can also see him being a jerk in the typical big brother style. being purposely annoying and rude, but loving and genuine enough to be real with peri when he needs it

they compliment each other— the worst godchild to ever exist, and the ultimate golden child

timmy doesn't expect anything of peri. he thinks he's special because he's family, not because he's a fairy baby, or because of some vendetta against his parents. and peri doesn't think timmy's a horrible person who ruins everything he touches. they see each other's flaws, and loves each other because of them

in "timmy's secret wish," peri is the first and last to successfully defend timmy's court case. (which, i mind you, he did by going poof poof poof in the speeches he made after timmy's other defenses utterly failed. he was able to just... do that. the judges didn't need to hear a single thing more because they all automatically trust him) (even if they did send him to the hocus poconos right after lmao) he's literally the only reason timmy's free at all. i have no doubt there's plenty of other, off-screen occasions where he uses his "status" to protect timmy

on the other hand, timmy enables peri into his antics, allowing him to just… goof off. have fun; cause chaos to his heart's content. he does things that he wouldn't otherwise, and it'll always be timmy who takes accountability so he wouldn't feel bad for it

so when timmy leaves, it undoubtedly affects him. it affect his freedom. it wouldn't matter how old he was— they were together for the first 8 (technically 50+) years of his life. that stuff sticks, subconsciously or not

so it comes time cosmo and wanda has to do something about it. what to do when a child's missing their brother?

hazel's case was straightforward. she needed companionship, assurance to ward off her fears, and a healthy dose of fun to loosen her up and take her mind off things

but what can you give a child who already has everything he could want? you give him as much love as you can, but wait, he pushes you away for it. shoot. so now you give him space, but he grows ever more distant, and when you realize you might've given him too much space, he's already off on his own, out of your reach

so you decide to go as well. you retire and take a long vacation with your partner, and you have faith that your child is doing something he loves and that he'll come back to you in his own time

and when that child is finally, utterly alone... there's nothing he can do but regret

peri wouldn't have much, if any, close friends he can truly confide with. not if he pushed them all away too

(with the way that fairies, pixies, and their respective antis are the dominant species, i'm guessing that the main reason is because other species don't live nearly as long. so usually, fairies rely on each other as forever companions. except no one but irep is even within peri's age group, (irep, who is antagonistic towards him on a good day,) which we know is an issue because of "poof's playdate," where they felt the need to turn other fairies into babies to get peri some socialization)

for hazel, she was able to acquire close friends over time through her own efforts. it's apparent in the finale just how much hazel has grown over the course of the show. at the start, she had difficulties overcoming her dependence towards her brother and coping with the changes in her life, but she adapted and turned that into her strength. she put herself out there and formed new bonds that, in the end, was the reason they were able to save fairy world

right off the bat, hazel and anthony parallels peri and timmy

anthony moved onward with life, while timmy wanted to stay a kid forever. the difference between them is that anthony knew he had a home to come back to, a family that will always be there to support him when he returns. timmy felt that once his memories are gone, he'll have nothing, because his fairies didn't just help him cope with his life, they replaced it entirely, to the point that timmy has no legs to stand on if they were to disappear

timmy loved too much, and cosmo and wanda had too much love to give. it ended up hurting them instead

cosmo and wanda learned that lesson, but peri didn't.

peri becomes a way hazel gets to see what it would be like if she never let go of anthony, and peri would see a glimpse of his younger self in hazel, who is happy and content with the life she was given despite the way things had to be

(peri and hazel understand each other the most, which is exactly why they wouldn't get along. i can imagine an interaction between them with hazel calling peri out, and him ignoring her)

when the cosma-fairywinkles reunite, cosmo and wanda's overbearingness after their reunion takes on a different light. it would be two parents trying to connect with the only child they have left when all he wants is for them to go away

(if cosmo and wanda tried to address timmy's bad influence in the past, it would be like pouring salt over a still-open wound. in peri's perspective, it's like they're trying to ruin timmy's image now that he's gone to so peri can get over him. it's kid logic. peri is too caught up in himself to remember that cosmo and wanda was with timmy first. they all love him. they all miss him)

peri had reinvented himself and has become someone else. someone cosmo and wanda might not like. he has run through every single reaction and still wasn't ready for immediate and unconditional acceptance. "i go by peri now!" and they don't even think to question it, they just love him like they always have. like they always will

and maybe it's in that moment that peri begins to think that his fears might have been for nothing

Flirting gone wrong

Of course it had to be Draco who had to do this to you. You aren't exactly surprised by his actions as he has a personal vendetta against the Potter boy and everyone who associates themselves with him. So it comes to no surprise that you are very high on his list as you are exceptionally close not only to Harry but also to his best friends Ron and Hermione. After all the four of you have been going through thick and thin ever since your first year in Hogwarts and you all also are part of Gryffindor. It isn't really a secret that you mean a lot to the trio either, pretty much everyone knows that they are attached to your hips, especially Ron and Harry. Hermione tries not to be as clingy as the boys as she is the only one who I can call with confidence lucid about the growing obsession she and her friends are going through the more time passes on as she is also essentially the one who tells Ron and Harry to tone it down since she doesn't want people to find out. Harry already is cause enough for attention.

Ron and Harry also tend to get quickly jealous, although for different reasons. Ron gets quickly jealous out of insecurity as he is clumsy and also has a lot of older brothers who are great whilst Harry tends to be more possessive due to his background as the Dursleys essentially isolated him and never allowed him to have any friends. Maybe he is a bit selfish and a part of him actually knows that but he is too deceived by his own obsession to give this too much thought. Hermione is the brain who basically does her best to keep the two boys in check from being too clingy but she is due to her awareness also the strictest one of the bunch. Ron is the complete opposite as he is very delusional and clingy. He is low-key a worshipper who can't see you doing anything wrong and despises seeing you sad which causes him to try to do anything to make you smile again. Harry is possessive and also very protective because as popular as he is, he has learnt that there are a lot of people who want him dead and he knows that you may also get dragged into it.

They have been aware of Draco tormenting you for a while now as you never see any reason to keep a secret from them. Also there is the fact that all three of them usually always are with you, such as Harry or Ron who are clingy, or at least watch you silently from afar, such as Hermione who at least tries to give you some privacy. So normally there is always at least one of the three who has an eye on you, they literally agreed to this without your knowledge. For all three of them to be away, they must have been quite busy with something, mostly related to schoolwork. When all three notice that no one is watching you, Ron and Harry are the first ones who start running to find you whilst Hermione is chasing after them in futile hopes that they can be at least a bit more discreet. They're not. When the two boys finally find you, there is no time to feel relief though as their blood starts boiling when they see Malfoy doing what he does best by making someone, you, uncomfortable.+

When the blond bastard spots the three sorcerers, he gives them a disgustingly smug grin whilst continuing to flirt with you and even touching you a bit, his eyes darting constantly back to Harry, Hermione and Ron to further provoke them. Ron's head turns red with anger, Harry clenches his jaw and his fists whilst glaring darkly at Draco whilst Hermione, next to also glaring at the Slytherin, can't help but also glance worriedly over to you. It is Ron who is the first one to storm towards Malfoy as his emotions get the better of him, as they do often around you, his face redder than his hair. As soon as he stands in front of Malfoy, he pushes him away from you before grabbing you and pulling you behind him. He hasn't thought much about what to do as his first instinct was getting Malfoy away from you but Harry and Hermione aren't far behind him as they also join Ron. Harry even has his wand in his hand as he just continues glaring at Malfoy whilst the blond boy just gives him a taunting grin.

There is tension and Hermione knows that as her eyes go back and forth betwee you, her friends and Malfoy. She wouldn't put it beneath Draco to provoke a fight and she definitely knows that Harry and a bit later also Ron would fall for it but everyone would get in troubles if this were to happen. She doesn't want you to get into unnecessary troubles for something that isn't even your fault and she knows that neither Ron nor Harry want that either. So she is the one actively attempting to de-escalate the situation and to get you away from the scene whilst Harry and Draco are verbally insulting each other, Draco with a hint of arrogance and Harry with growing anger as the Slytherin knows that he merely has to speak about you to trigger Harry. Ron, who also feels the tension and is feeling a tad bit nervous, still joins Harry in his insults towards the blond boy. Even Hermione won't hold back with passive-aggressive comments if Draco should grace her with his attention.

All of them feel flattered the moment you start defending them if Draco were to insult any of your friends, although Hermione will still scold you lightly later on for only prolonging the argument and further allowing Malfoy to get under everyone's skin. The situation is dismissed when a professor appears who has been hearing the arguing voices, especially since Ron, Harry and you have gotten louder as your nerves got the better of all of you. The moment they are told to leave, Harry gives Draco one last glare before he grabs your hand and drags you away from the other boy as fast as possible. His hand is squeezing yours in an attempt to comfort you as well as himself. Ron is right beside you, hastily questioning you if you're feeling fine and if that Malfoy did anything to you. Hermione is right behind you, telling Ron to ask you one question at a time and to let you answer whilst occasionally looking back to make sure that none of Draco's friends are following you around.

They all do their best from that day on to spend more time with you so that Malfoy never gets the chance again to catch you all by yourself. The boys are even dedicated enough to accompany you to the toilet. It is safe to say that Malfoy is receiving constant glares from Harry and Ron from that day on. Hermione tries to ignore him but she can't suppress the occasional cold glare either before going back to ignoring him and she advices you to do the same as attention will only fuel Draco's inflated ego. Harry and Ron are obviously not listening to her though. Especially Harry is very likely to approach Draco when he is alone to warn him to stay away from you. He's acting like a coward by approaching you instead of facing him straight away. The next time he tries something like this, Harry will use his wand.

One of the reasons i've seen people complain about rise leo, is his overall "confidence".

They find him annoying or reduce him to "the funny guy", the one that messes everything up in the movie and deus ex machina's his way to the power of friendship.

But honestly, i think this is so far from the truth; Leo is integral to the concept and culmination of the rise turtles, he cements the message this version of the turtles has been trying to explain from the beginning.

You can't do everything alone; trust those who love you, and love those who you trust.

But honestly, i think a lot of people forget that we've all probably felt like him before.

Leo is quite a complicated character to understand easily (mostly bc the rise series got horribly cut down and omg i'm still hurting), because an important part of his character is he will literally never be honest about what he's feeling. The only thing he talks about? How he knows (bc he doesn't just think it, he's so sure about it) nobody trusts him or thinks he's capable of holding his own weight.

He comes off as uninterested and goofy because he so desesperately clings to that portrayal of himself because he needs to trick both others and his own mind that he's fine.

He doesn't think he's enough, he believes the team would be perfectly fine without him. He thinks he needs to prove he can do something so he can be valuable to the team.

And i think it's amazing

"Rise of the TMNT", the title already gives away the purpose of their different personalities and coping mechanisms on this version of the story. We're not meant to see an structured team of properly trained ninjas, we're here for the ride, we are walking alongside them as the team gets in line and learn how to be heroes.

Sure the other versions of the turtles had their own character arcs, you don't need to see something from the instant beginning to know the characters are growing, but rise has always felt more of a love letter to the turtle family itself. A complete exploration of an alternate universe where the mad dogz got to somewhat live as teenagers before earning the mantle as protectors of the world (and new york lol).

We're familiar with Leonardo's story in evey tmnt version, he's the leader. He's in charge of protecting the city and his family.

But the problem is always there, he fears he won't be enough, that he will fail to be the leader the world asks him to be. This is also something we see in rise leo but it's more...fresh? It feels naturally younger.

Were you never nagged about not taking things seriously when you were younger? Were you never yelled at for messing things up? Didn't you ever feel as if you had to prove to others that you were more they perceived you to be?

As someone that battles their own inferiority complex, leo feels...so easy to relate to.

He didn't ask for the responsability, and he kind of doesn't want it, but he learns to bear it properly.

He fails to be the good leader they expect him to be (i also have the theory he self-sabotages himself a lot?) but he learns to be more than what they expect.

To quote myself from my last post (yes i loved typing that) "a leader is not the one that orders, but the one that motivates and supports you". He learns how being a leader is not imposing or bearing every problem and responsability alone, but to motivate your team and guide them to never loose hope.

He uses everything he already knows about himself and his team to be better and guide them to a new version of the ninja turtle gang, one where family and trust is far more important than anything else (and it feels good to know we won't have the typical raph vs leo fight for leadership in the future- i mean there was a fight BUT IT WASN'T ABOUT THAT)

M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going) A gust of air? Typically I feel like Leo gets a little bit stuck in his own head, typically in a negative train of thought. That usually does it, but he’ll never let it on. He’ll literally use you to feel Anything, but not That much. Sorry!! He needs therapy!!

N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs) I feel like choking/ anything to do with pain really, it’s off the table. If there’s one thing about Leo, he would never hurt you on purpose. 

O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.) Receiving. I’m not gonna say any more than that. 

P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.) It depends on the mood honestly, fast and rough if he’s had a hard time with his family, but it’s slow and sensual and lazy most other times. 

Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.) IDK why I feel this way, but I don’t think Leo is very into quickies, just because he doesn’t strike me as a man who is good at multitasking. Like if a partner were to initiate sex, it would suddenly be sex-time for sex havers. Whatever he was doing before, would have to be put on hold. 

R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.) Oh he’s all about it, anything to feel something. I see a lot of fucking on his balcony, perhaps in the bathroom at a cool restaurant. 

S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?) I think he’s been blessed with a whole lot of stamina, almost alarmingly so. Just picture his partner, exhausted, and Leo just cheesing like :D need a break? 

T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?) I think he’s got a substantial collection, because he’s a lazy lover and if he can’t pawn the work off on his partner, he’ll pawn it off on a toy. 

U = Unfair (how much they like to tease) I think it’s up to his partners to tease. Leo is a bit of a glutton, so I can’t see him knowing how to tease, or tease well. 

V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.) I know this man’s loud as hell. In canon, he’s a slut who hooks up with his instagram followers. I truly believe he doesn’t care who hears ever, and he’s probably smug and selfish, regardless of his minimal effort. 

W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character) I feel like Leo has his hair like that by mistake. It looks kind of like a mistake, like he went on a bender, and woke up with his hair like that. This being the case, he’s big into wearing hats in the winter, because the sides of his head like that.  

X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes) He’s a stallion, in his fucking prime. Thank you, god bless. 

Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?) As we see on the show, it’s pretty darn high. The two of you are definitely NOT monogamous because I’m betting this man drowns his low self-esteem with a high sex drive. He picks up anything that moves and has sex with it. He’s very much the type to say “i don’t know” when you ask about people in his apartment. 

Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards) 

I think regardless of him being on his “best behavior” he knocks out almost immediately after. He’s very much the type to just roll over and fall asleep, for better or worse.

yeah, unless you really go looking for them, its hard to find meronia circles. a lot of death note fans are averse to them/deem it too problematic (which... i wont even touch upon the irony of that).

mello:

i think mello’s greatest strength is how well rounded he is. he’s obviously very intelligent, but on top of that, he was ambitious enough to be in the running of L’s successor as well as make his way up in the rank of the literal mafia. as a TEENAGER. you don’t pull that off with smarts alone. we can infer from this and his actions throughout the story that he’s a very adaptive, crafty, and sociable individual. he handles all situations related to kira gracefully yet unpredictably, bargaining with the enemy in a way that backs them into a corner and gets him closer to his goal. and when things don’t go his way, he improvises (save for takada. lmao).

as for his weaknesses, it was definitely his ego. my mans had every right to be confident, but would it have killed him to play it safe? the prime example of this is obviously refusing to outright team up with near. it’s pretty much a fandom wide headcanon at this point that he would’ve survived had he and near worked together officially, but he was determined to prove himself and do things on his own. achieving a victory with near’s help would’ve hurt his ego. furthermore, if he had taken more precautions in his last encounter with takada rather than assuming everything would go according to his plan... well, i’d like to think he would’ve lived too. unfortunately, he made a slight oversight due to his confidence.

near:

near is interesting because i truly believe that the point of his character is having only 1 strength and lacking in mostly everything else. like with mello, it doesn’t need to be pointed out that he’s exceedingly intelligent. and yet, he has little else going for him. he gains his allies through the government, gets to stay in their cushy funded tower, once used a literal flood of cash to get out of a tough situation, and relied a lot on mello’s schemes and out-of-the-box plans to solve the kira case. 

i think if i could sum up his weaknesses, it would be that he’s too comfortable. he lacks direction. he’s rarely ever motivated to do things. he’s doesn’t have true relationships in his life, and he doesn’t go out of his way to make them. he has sensitive feelings, yet never expresses them. he admires mello, but avoids being upfront about this and leaves mello in the dark. he could go after the new kira that arises, but there’s no point. he only took the first kira case, took up the mantle of L, because he was appointed as the successor by wammy’s. at some point you start wondering if the guy truly wants or cares about anything in his life. some of us near fans think that he has some form of depression after mello’s death/the kira case and that’s why he is so demotivated. or maybe he has never had a true sense of identity/purpose in the first place. but when it comes to mello’s death, i often see it as near losing his ability to reach his ‘full potential’ with mello making up the other half of L. now he’s just complacent.

what i love about their dynamic is of course the matching wits. i think that in many avenues, they are drawn to each other in ways unmatched by other people, because there’s just something that fundamentally clicks between them. mello thinking of near as a pompous brat yet being unable to deny the syngery between their minds, and knowing that he’s ultimately mello’s most reliable ally. i like the idea of mello and near arguing about the best course of action to take and both disapproving of each other’s worst vices (mello’s overambition, near’s lack of it). them being able to read each other and predict each other’s movements better than anyone else (i have to go save near’s ass because i know what he’s thinking already. that idiot). all their allies in the room being stunned into silence as they take jabs at each other with snide remarks. the way they would both look out for each other and yell at each other over safety precautions if they worked together. there’s something so interesting about how evenly matched they are in terms of intelligence, yet can be so utterly opposed in terms of planning and strategizing. i think working together would eventually result in a lot of care between them, and considering how they can both be so reckless, they would constantly be saving each other’s lives. and then they’d go straight back to bickering. 

i can’t pinpoint the moment i started shipping them tbh. i think it mustve been on my first death note rewatch when near finally started to pique my interest and i took note of mello’s strong reactions to near? and i was like ooh, there’s something deeper here.

this was my first death note ship, and i REALLY got into them back in the day. it’s pretty obvious why, enemies to lovers, the way they never could’ve been something because they were obsessed with their game, the fact that no feelings could come to fruition lest they get in the way of what both of them lived for. however, while i still largely see what people like about it, i slowly fell out of love with them. the main reason is because the way i saw them changed a lot. because to me, while they are clearly obsessed with each other, i do think they are not so much obsessed with each other as people, but instead what they both represent. in fact, they seem to heavily dislike each other as people. light mostly thinks L is a genuine weirdo and L thinks light is a pretentious, haughty kid who doesn’t know his place. i don’t think they find each other very interesting beyond that. L cares only about light’s intelligence and his evil deeds, but sees him almost like a challenging video game boss that he’s having a lot of fun trying to take down. and light has a massive ego so he enjoys being challenged, and sees L as a worthy opponent who is unrelenting in pursuit. but that’s it. and that’s why the anime only scenes between them feel so weird, because they kind of come out of nowhere and make them seem a lot more invested in each other on a personal level, which they were never supposed to be in the death note manga. anyway, i just don’t see any romantic chemistry between them, is what i’m trying to say. i will still like and reblog funny lawlight memes.

i really don’t mean any hate, but i’ve never particularly liked this pairing? i don’t dislike it, either. i can see the appeal. they’re a ride or die type of pair who tragically lost their lives one after the other. matt was among mello’s last thoughts too. but i think i see matt as a very straight person (he’s made multiple comments about women!) and while i guess it’s sweet that mello relied on matt and stuff, i don’t think they have a particularly deep relationship. matt is a smart, tech savvy dude that mello knows, so like with the mafia, he’s pulling out his best connections. however, matt seems even less driven of a person than near, and unlike near, does not even care a little bit about solving cases. i can’t really see them coming together in any meaningful way for the long term, and they both don’t really seem interested in each other beyond a surface friendship level. i feel like life would take them in different directions.

It still doesn't lessen the bitter taste in his mouth, though. Seriously you're just wasting time.

He'll bitch about it openly for days until the mixer. That includes questioning your life choices, trash talking men in general, and actively sulking in his desk.

After the date, however, he'll be the quietest he's ever been. He both observes you intently and avoids thinking about you at the same time. Did you really enjoy it that much? Did- did you no longer like him the way you used to? The answer to that is something he's not ready to determine for himself, even if it's clear as day that you still love him very much. His brain's a jumbled mess that he's not sure if he keeps second-guessing himself.

Depending on how you act, he might semi-accidentally confront/confess to you after that.

Akutagawa Ryuunosuke

He has never been to one nor has even entertained the idea of it, so when he learned of it he was not sure what to feel.

It's not exactly the same as dating, right? So if it was just harmless, commitment-less fun then he wouldn't question it further.

It's when he hears of the harassment that can occur when his anger soars.

Yes, he's confident in your abilities, but to subject yourself to it? Why do that? All for the slim chance of finding a potential partner? Are you that desperate?

To constantly seek approval and appreciation... he knows that feeling all too well and he'd hate for you to endure the same fate.

He'll actually try and stop you from going. He's that worried.

You're free to do as you please, so he says nothing and pretends to be cool with it all. Deep inside, however, a million thoughts bounce in his mind all the while.

Was it a sign that you weren't into him? If it was, then could he still do something to change your mind? Or will doing that harm your relationship even more?

Now Kunikida never considered himself to be the attractive sort of guy, but he's not half bad, wasn't he? Hidden insecurities suddenly surface and he gets all anxious.

Being the open book that he is these feelings will seep out during work. Maybe he'll be a little less patient, a little more irritable, and definitely a little sad. As long as the whole affair isn't shoved into his face by you and especially by that idiot, he wouldn't burst.

The way he copes with it is he runs over his ideal partner list and tells himself that maybe you weren't meant for each other (and other bs) in order to convince himself it's nothing he should be affected by.

And yet the moment you walk by he knows he's deeply affected. Damn he liked you this much? Enough to burn that whole list and every similar thought to the ground? Yes. Yes he did.

The way he reacts to you after the event depends on yours. just like Akutagawa. But unlike him he wouldn't leave your side, even only as a friend, since his loyalty to you surpasses any hurt he may have.

here's my question: literally why. how is crosstagging helping you, like, at all? you (in the general sense, not you clover lol) have your own tags for a reason. tags exist for the purpose of finding and narrowing down audiences, and for blocking content that you don't want to see. crosstagging does nothing to help you except just defeat the whole point of tags. like, is there anyone out there who hasn't gotten irritated when those porn bots use totally random tags so you run across them when you're trying to look at something else? or the "sfw interaction only" disaster, where nsfw/porn accounts invaded a tag that was meant to indicate that the person didn't want to see nsfw? or weeks ago when that Syl guy went around whining and trying to invalidate therians and age regressors in their own tags? that kind of behavior isn't fun for anyone, and the only thing it gets you is a higher chance of people disliking you, blocking you, and arguing with you. and if it's that--the arguing--that you want, you realize you can tag things with "syscourse", "debate", etc. and get to argue with people who actually want to do so?

also, nothing good ever happens as a result of exposing people to content they don't want to see with no warning. lots of people have "syscourse" blocked, not because they're cowards who don't want to debate or whatever you've got going on in your head, but because discourse (shocker) sometimes stresses people out, and a lot of people go on tumblr to have fun and joke around, not for arguments. i mean, there's a reason i have a separate blog for discourse. i made this sideblog because it stressed me out to have discourse on my main blog since i would end up seeing it even when i just meant to look at warrior cats fanart or something lmao. i know lots of perfectly reasonable and nice people who just don't want to argue on the internet, and that's chill. tags are there so that everyone can curate their own internet experience--as we all have the right to do--and it's kind of just pointless and mean to try to sabotage that. furthermore, people who are exposed to discourse in otherwise-safe tags are not going to enjoy it. that will stress them out unnecessarily, they will probably get upset with you and block you or start a pointless argument with you. no ACTUAL progress will be made by trying to bother and argue with people who don't want to argue. and presumably, you KNOW that, which makes it hard to give you any benefit of the doubt since the only reason you could have for crosstagging is... to harass people? to bother them? to make random strangers mildly more irritated while they go about their day? like, don't you have anything better to do? if you care about syscourse, that's great! come debate and discuss with the rest of us, don't drag in people who don't want to be involved. resorting to stuff like cross-tagging just makes me think that you aren't confident enough to debate people who actually want to debate, so the only thing you can do to make yourself feel right is to catch people off guard and then think "wow, I totally won that argument!" when in reality, they just weren't prepared and didn't want to talk.

You've known Rotxo your whole life. The two of you were always seen together whenever he wasn't with Aonung and Tsireya. You remember how at one point in time you were jealous of Tsireya because of his crush on her but, that was to be expected. All the guys had a crush on Tsireya and all the girls had a crush on Aonung just because they were the chief's and Tsahik's children. You only felt better when he realized that his feelings for her were not romantic, but instead, he saw her more as a sister due to them growing up so closely together. This gave you some hope in your heart that maybe one day your feelings for him will be reciprocated. However, you seem to be the only one to realize that he is actually quite popular amongst the teen Na'vi both the girls and the boys. The only one that you confided in was Tsireya and she supported it all the way.

"I can definitely come up with something for the two of you to spend more time together. However, it should be easy, because the two of you used to hang out all the time, and even though we have more duties, you should not shy away from hanging out with him, despite how your feeling has changed." You were currently sitting on your Ilu's with Tsireya having this conversation when the two of you should be collecting shells and jewels to bring back. 

"That is very kind of you Tsireya but I do not wish to burden you with my own feelings. I need to be a big girl and stop avoiding him. Maybe if I gather enough courage, I can actually confess to him or I just might wait, because I do not wish to jeopardize our friendship." You were truly scared of the consequences of your actions. You will always love Rotxo as a friend before you will wish to love him as a mate and the thought of losing that connection, that friendship made you want to cry. You would rather swallow your feelings than risk losing a precious friendship. 

"I do not think that your friendship with him will be jeopardized. You must remember who we are talking about here. He is literally one of the sweetest people we know on this entire island that we call home." She did have a point there, Rotxo was one of the sweetest people ever, and he will rather fight an Akula bare-handed than purposely hurt someone's feelings. That thought alone made you come to a realization that if you do confess your feelings to him, he may agree just to keep from hurting your feelings, which is much worse than anything. You would rather be sad and embarrassed than force him to agree with something simply because he put your feelings above his, which should never happen.

"I am going to have to think about all of this." Tsireya Looked like she was going to push you to talk more but thankfully, she got the hint, and plus, she is just too sweet to put you on the spot like that. 

"That is fine, but for now let the two of us continue doing what we are supposed to do before we both get in trouble." You both giggled and smirked at each other before diving into the water to get the shells and stuff that you needed. The two of you collected many shells and jewels and stones to bring back and by the time the two of you were done, that is when you noticed that her brother and Roxto had come back from hunting. You felt your heart and your stomach flutter with nerves when Rotxo came into view. 

"What have the two of you been up to?" The four of you talked for a while with you steadily avoiding eye contact with Roxto, who took notice and kept looking at you with eyes of concern. The brother-sister duo also took notice of your odd behavior but chose not to say anything as they looked at each other and had a silent conversation. 

"Hey Y/N, it has been a while since the two of us have hung out, would you like to come with me for a while after we drop off our things?" You almost withered at the sincere and hopeful look he was giving you. You knew that he knew that you would not reject him in front of the other two since it would raise too much suspicion. You almost scowled at his plan because you were not sure you will be able to contain how you truly feel once alone with him.

"Of course, I would love to." You were so focused on looking at him that you missed the Aonung and Tsireya looked at each other.

"Why don't the two of you get a head start then?" You turn to give Tsireya a confused look as she reached over and plucked the basket of jewels, shells, and stones that you collected with her. You looked over to see Aonung doing the same thing to Rotxo, who was just as confused as you were. 

"See the two of you later. We will have an excuse for why the two of you are missing." You watched as the brother and sister disappeared on their Ilu's never looking back, leaving you alone with Rotxo. You turned to him to see that he was already staring at you, making you flush with slight embarrassment. You knew you were acting weird because you never acted like this around him, but you couldn't help the way you feel. Your infatuation with him only grew stronger and stronger until you realized that what you thought was platonic was, in fact, romantic feelings for him. You were too scared to figure out how his feelings were for you though.

"Y/N." You looked around the waters to see that the two of you were alone, and you weren't about to run away from him. However, you were too nervous to look at him, and he took notice of that. "Why don't you want to look at me?" You want to speak, but you got tongue-tied, and the words kept dying from your throat. You wanted to cry because you felt so silly in front of him. These feelings were making you nervous, something you never thought you would feel when you would be around him.

"I..." You managed to get out a single word before clamming up. You felt him sigh and the water move as he moved the Ilu to be directly next to you, close enough that you felt his leg pressed tightly against your leg. You still refused to look at him until a cool hand was pressed under your chin and he forced you to look at him. He had a small frown, and his head tilted with genuine concern for you.

"Just talk to me, please." He was so earnest that you were not going to deny him what he asked, even if you were fighting against it. It was like an invisible force making you open up to him.

"I really like you. I have a crush on you, and I do not want to mess up our friendship because I have romantic feelings for you. I was just going to pretend that I did not have them, but it got harder and harder to hide that I ended up avoiding you, which was the last thing that I wanted to do." There you go. You said it, you admitted it You sighed and closed your eyes, waiting for the inevitable but it never came. In fact, you heard a chuckle, which was very uncharacteristic of him, and had your eyes shooting open to stare at him. You knew you were blushing because he was already staring but you were too confused to try and hide right now.

"That's why you have been avoiding me? Because you have a crush on me, and you assumed it would not be returned. Yawntu, please." You felt your jaw drop, but you did not pull away when he leaned forward and pressed his forehead gently against yours. In fact, you found yourself closing your eyes again and purring lowly in your chest at the close proximity. "I wish you would've told me sooner than I wouldn't have to be worried about my future mate avoiding me." It was your turn to open your eyes again and gasp in shock.

"Your future mate?" You really should be focused on something else, but all you can focus on is the bloom of hope that erupted in your chest, especially when he smiled so sweetly at you.

"Yes, yawntu. Mine." When he leaned in for a kiss you leaned in to meet him the rest of the way. If you knew that, admitting your feelings would lead to this, you would have admitted them a very long time ago.

Being the youngest student at the NRC has its perks.

Your first-year classmates were pretty chaotic and nice to be around, even Ace and Sebek weren't that mean when you were there.

But apart from them, everyone else pretty much adopted you on sight. You were everybody's little brother now, i don't make the rules.

But unfortunately there were still people like back at home, people who didn't understand, or rather, that chose not to.

But at least this time you're not alone against them.

Dire Crowley

Your bully and you were immediately sent to his office after Trein heard you two shouting during his lesson.

This asshole had been misgendering you on purpose recently but it was today that he started calling you names.

Your classmates usually glared at him and that was enough to make it stop, today he was feeling a little more confident, and you were pissed as ever.

So, long story short, you got a 16- maybe 17 year old looking down to his hands while he explained his version of the story.

Honestly, it wasn't anything you hadn't heard before. "Oh but i didn't know-" "i promise it wasn't my intention-" "it was just a joke! I'm sure... he got it wrong."

Flip sides on a whim and eternally denounce something he was singing the praises of five minutes ago if he thinks it'll get him somewhere

Lavender: Yeahhh He's such a guy

Mantis God: He's a good actor but he's the sort of chameleon that personalizes his persona to whoever he's dealing with and it gets really obvious if he ever gets put in a situation where he has to juggle conflicting personas Guy of all time tbh we love him very much

Lavender: Yeeeee If I ever write him I'm sure I'll have a grand time In a similar vein to how I'm writing Hunter rn like "would he fucking say that?? no. no surely not. …but maybe???"

Mantis God: Scarlet is so fun to write But admittedly we're biased He's great because he has. Literally seven lines of dialogue total in the game and he chameleons enough in those seven lines that as long as you get the right cadence he'll, like. Always scan correctly.

Lavender: Whereas Hunter has probably more samples of his character voice than probably any other character in Hollowed Aight and we get plenty of his perspective on prey but no examples of him talking TO prey so I'm struggling

Mantis God: Tilt him around a bit rewrite the scene We suggest trying, like. Write it bad then go over it and see where it comes apart Then do it again better

Actually Malicious And Predatory Scarlets out there but honestly that doesn't scan super well to us specifically if only because, like. Scarlet has VERY little in means of motivation for killing people, so if you don't fill that gap he'll feel flat, and a lot of people who do Genuinely Malicious Scarlet don't… do that? He's not killing people for a reason, per se, he's just, like, a Semi-Generic serial killer dude, and generally if they go into him needing to gather life force it's more treated as, like. Stores? He's got a decent supply and just kills to supplement that or, like, save up, without really going into anything like "what happens when he runs out" we are ofc superior in this regard because we like cornering him like an animal

Lavender: Make him quite literally fight for his got damb life

Mantis God: But, uhh, the general cadence usually swings more towards confidence and security in his skills, giving him that aura of, like. Distinct Power, if that makes sense? Same set of tools that often get used for people like the Wasp King. A power fantasy sort of cadence. He's in charge and he knows it and he could beat your ass And though that's all well and good, we like to tinker more with… resourcefulness, we suppose? He's smart and strong and cunning, because he kind of needs to be to keep himself out of range of the cops for that long, but we don't tend to have that… security? We mean, the guy lives in a cave with no worldly possessions but the clothes on his back and One (1) book. He doesn't exactly have a safety net to… allow for that sort of confidence?

Lavender: Lmao yeah He's sure good a Faking Everything though !

Mantis God: He's REALLY good at faking everything, and it fools the audience as well. But he's still, uhh. He's living in a cave and hiding behind a stick. Not really the finest of accommodations and definitely not the sort of thing that gives that self-assurance. It's a persona, almost definitely, and the way he turns on a dime from faux-nice to faux-confidence kind of just… hammers that in?

Lavender: He's a guy with nothing to lose! Except his life. And he would really quite like to keep that please and thank you- And freedom I suppose

Mantis God: Though the actually confident and self-assured Scarlets are fun to toy with having to scavenge to survive and live paycheck-to-paycheck can have some VERY long-lasting effects on your brain especially when it comes to, like, budgeting resources and such, and a lot of the depictions here act like… a guy who has fallbacks? And he doesn't, really. It's plan A or nothing because if he's caught, he's done for.

Lavender: Hhhh yep

Mantis God: Something something class gap or whatever we're very conscious of this because we have eight hundred thousand hours research looking into shit and as it turns out your circumstances impact your mindset and you will act differently depending on external positions Unfortunately it's also really hard to articulate this without either Eight Trillion Words or saying shit like "he acts like someone with a house and a refrigerator but he has neither of those things"

Lavender: The latter does articulate it very well Note that I am reading all this in fascination and also agreement I just don't know how to express that much

Mantis God: Scarlet's an incredibly fun character to handle because he's got that specific set of circumstances where changing things even a bit can dramatically change his circumstances but the people writing him do him very, uhh. Middle-class? Which strikes as off to us, because a lot of what draws us to Scarlet is the fact that he very much has the motivation to lie and cheat and do anything he damn well can to end up on top, because pretty much anything he tries is gonna wind up being a zero-sum game.

Lavender: He comes pre-packaged with Circumstances and you can Do Things to these circumstances to see how be reacts

Mantis God: It just feels a bit… more dull, we suppose? To make him someone who can simply stop and chooses not to, because if you play him as, like, someone who could simply Not Do That at any time and is just evil for fun, then it feels like you lose a bit of something.

Lavender: Yeah, makes him more two-dimensional …..in a metaphorical sense of course One-dimensional

Mantis God: You've got a character here who could be brought to care for someone so deeply it hurts and still have to leave them behind and betray them because his very life depends on his capacity to stab people in the back for the sake of his own skin

Lavender: Ah yes, the Painge

Mantis God: Selfish means very different things if you have Something compared to having Nothing, is what we're saying. And Scarlet's very, very selfish, but in the very specific way that you get when you grow up having few enough resources to need to hoard.

Lavender: No yeah exactly Not for fun, debatably for profit, mostly just for survival

Mantis God: We know he's got like no canonical motivation besides "he kills people" but given canon evidence there's only like two possibilities for the Reason for that because unlike almost everyone else who Kills People he has no special cause or conviction or even, like, firm code of conduct, he just goes for. Literally anyone who answers his requests. Either he's Like That For No Reason or he's doing the exact same thing any other hungry ambush predator does and honestly the second one is far more interesting

Lavender: Love to give him motivations and depth!! Take this paper binch and make his actions comprehensible!!

Mantis God: We are holding him like a purse dog and making him grapple with horrors

Lavender: It is far more interesting than just another villain who exists for you to fight and get rewarded for it put him through the horrors

Mantis God: MORE horrors He's very fun to tinker with bc like all of his motivation can be boiled down to the same handful of Needs Of Life you see on, like, those goddamn basic needs pyramids And as such we can put him in basically any situation ever because he'll do fucking to slightly extend his life
