Humans vs Formtakers!

[Subtitle] An important distinction on Torelia

For thousands of years, humans have lived alongside Formtakers; a humanoid species of creatures that develop special nonhuman abilities. Some Formtakers look far from human - and some look almost identical. It’s important to know the difference on Torelia.

Formtakers can have a wide range of features, like horns, tails, sharp teeth, strange eyes, or even wings. A Formtaker’s genetics will usually shift to fit the area they’re born in; for example, Formtakers born in places with a high werewolf population may grow a set of wolf ears and gain enhanced vision in the dark. However, with long exposure to other creatures, Formtakers may subtly lose and gain various traits. For example, a Satyr-Formtaker may form goat ears as a child, but if adopted by Vampires, would also gain fangs and nightvision, and may lose their horns and mischievous nature. They can also take on traits of extraterrestrial visitors or immigrants

In history, Formtakers have been given many roles because of their genes. Some Formtakers are declared protectors of villages and clans in danger of bandits. Some are recruited by guard forces in cases of murders. Some become nurses of non-humans suffering from unknown ailments. Some protect churches and universities from ill-meaning Gargoyles. Formtakers around Torelia are often celebrated, and have their own segment in the Celebration of Difference, a festival made to honour all the species of Torelia, and it’s alien immigrants.

Formtakers are not considered a type of Shifter. Shifters like Changelings and Light Benders can shift forms at will, lycans and selkies have triggered form shifts, but Formtakers gain their nonhuman traits in early childhood and retain most of those same traits for the rest of their lives.

Formtakers are nearly indistinguishable from humans up until around ages 4-6, when their nonhuman abilities and traits begin to develop. Formtakers raised in human cities and towns with little to contact with nonhuman creatures will form minimal traits, usually only gaining enhanced nightvision or increased strength.

I'd say demiromantic (stefan being doppelganger curse related rather than exception) and also under the bi umbrella. per transition I'd consider her a kinsey 1.5, afterwards a kinsey 3? vampirism heightens everything after all lol and her relationship with rebekah got significantly gayer

i was literally talking to @laufire about this last night lol. i honestly don't particularly ship her with anyone romantically for many reasons, but the closest I'd say would either be Elijah or Rebekah. If their dynamic wasn't so damaging to her emotional/physical/mental well-being I would have said Bonnie.

Random Kamisarizuki Traits(?)

They have the traits of the lover. They have a love of the world and its inhabitants that is traditionally put as agape. How it manifests is different but at their core any of that line is this love. And it is that nature that tends to draw beings towards them. Who doesn't crave companionship? Camaraderie? Family? Friendship? Love?

They have musical inclination. It usually manifests as singing but if it is not that, then lies with some kind of instrument. It doesn't seem to miss anyone. This inclination is strong enough that it can soothe beasts and lull even deities to slumber (at least as various legends suggest).

Their luck is generally really good. Things like random drawings, some games, and choosing at random are pretty nice for them. However this seems to be balanced out with and terrible fate overall.

It seems to be nonhumans that they end up the company of more than humans. Why isn't quite clear but some think it's because they have the sight to see nonhumans regularly. Others think it's because they are outcasts amongst humanity and seek companionship with other not quite accepted. There is no known reason why.

By terrible fates, these include being imprisoned as a 'songbird' or an 'endless' source of 'good' life essence; being devoured because of the allure of their flesh and blood; and being used as bait for nonhumans because of their closeness. Many won't tell of their family line for this reason but the name has wavered in knowledge amongst others.

Kamisarizuki is a name that is almost like a fable by now. It's not really thought that they still exist. However due to their acts throughout history, the name is associated with charity by humanity. Benevolence by nohumans.

However it can be said, it does still exist. The names might be concealed some extent but there are three muses at the time of writing that are considered of this line. That is Aspis, Hijiri and Yaenako. None of them are of any close relation with each other.
