Hey guys! I know I've been popping in rarely to say hi, but I've been so inactive I thought I'd give a little more extensive update.
I didn't wind up getting that job I was talking about (yet? I haven't technically been rejected but ya know how it is these days...), but I have been focusing a lot on other work. I'm not going to go into the details for their privacy, but I have a second dependent now and the need for money to support them + lack of ability to be on the computer much means I haven't really had any time for sims at all. I'm hoping that will change soon as I get an older computer fixed up for them to use so I can get back to mine now and again, because I really miss making cc and talking with yall!
I'm not gonna lie, the financials have been really, really tight with all this + some attorney fees for a separate issue related to my father's passing (fraud & negligence, to say the least) and stress has been high. And yet, at the same time, I feel like I've been a lot happier since I've been medicated and spending more time with family. So, it's overall a bit up and down lol. I feel like sims would be a comfort to me as it always has been, especially now that there's nothing financial directly linked with it, but it's just a matter of finding the time honestly.
I have the set I was working on in February about halfway done, and I think it wouldn't take long for me to finish it now that I have most of the base meshes finished. When I get PC time, that's the first thing I'm gonna do :) also, if there's anything that needs to be updated/fixed, please let me know- I'm not up to date on any patches obv or anything that has happened here in the last few months, but if something broke, I'll get to it as soon as I can!
Yall know I could ramble on forever, but I'm gonna end it here lol. I hope you all have a good day :)

everyone鈥檚 talking about how bg3 will set standards but really the most revolutionary thing about the game is the sheer adequacy of the vanilla hairstyles. absolutely unprecedented for the genre

Contrary to popular belief, stuffed toys were not invented by or for Teddy Roosevelt in the 1900s. They existed before this, in different forms, for almost all of human history. However, well, toys get loved to death and are often buried with their people if they died young, or even in old age - or are so well-worn that the only surviving bits are the wooden or bone framing.
The above dolls have stuffed and padded elements to their bodies, and survive from the middle ages, apparently. There's no dates attached, but they are absolutely beautiful examples.
We cannot forget ragdolls, which were obviously popular, and definitely betray my example a bit too well, into the "this is a bit scary" realm. But these were toys, and they were loved dearly by their owners. We have to remain respectful of that.
The first commercial stuffed toy was apparently a stuffed elephant in 1880 intended as a pincushion, but often purchased as a toy for children. They also made others, such as the lion below:
The next was a cat that is still a popular pattern today for toys - the Ithaca Kitty. Here are some replicas:
I've definitely seen a ton of these used as pillows to this day.
So, if you are writing or depicting history, don't be afraid of giving your kids a stuffed friend to love. They did exist before you think, and were much more popular than you would believe. They just often were not commercial, and were handmade by loved ones, or sold in small quantities, individually crafted by one talented artist.

The Barkley Marathons just had its first female finisher ever.
If you do not know what the Barkley Marathons is, then it is time you learn, because it is not just an ultra running race, it is INSANE.
But I'm so happy. They said it was getting less and less likely any woman would ever finish it (it gets harder each year), but now Jasmin Paris has done it.
Here are some things that make the Barkley Marathons unique:
The length is unknown. It's at least 100 miles, but who knows? Not even the participants, because they're not allowed GPS-trackers. There are five loops in total.
They're allowed map and compass. That's it. No GPS watches.
On every loop, they have to find about a dozen books, tear out a page that matches their bib number and bring them all back, or they don't get to continue onto the next loop.
There are only 40 people participating every year.
How to apply? I don't know. Most people don't. It's a secret to everybody actually.
The race fee is super low, but you have to bring a license plate and give to the race director as part of your registration
They don't get to know exactly when the race starts. The race director will blow a conch during a 12h window and then it's an hour until the start. Instead of a starting gun, he'll light his cigarette, and then the race is off.
The max amount of time is 60h, which doesn't give you time to complete the five loops and also catch some sleep in between loops.
It's been going for almost 40 years, and up until the 2024 edition, ONLY 17 people had finished EVER. That's how hard it is. Most years, no one finishes at all.
This year, there were five finishers, and like I said, for the first time, a woman finished. It's really impressive.
