it's okay to be nonspeaking.

it's okay to be hyperspeaking.

if you deal with verbal communication issues. if you are selective mute. if you use AACs/TTS. that is okay. how you communicate is up to you. it should be your choice. no one should force you to use your mouth parts for communication. you shouldn't have to pay to communicate.. but we do.

Shane prefers AAC/TTS apps. texted based, picture based, of both. they are unreliably verbal

A lot of system members uses AACs/TTS to communicate. Some alters fully can communicate verbally "normally." some can talk, but prefer AACs/TTS. some are nonverbal, semiverbal. or semispeaking or nonspeaking or unreliably verbal, verbalflux/altverbal, it depends on the alter who wants to use which term.

and no you cannot "go" nonverbal or semiverbal. it's verbal loss or shutdown. you can only "become" semi or nonverbal pretty much from regression. we use to use "go semi/nonverbal" but we now know it is a constant state.

no matter what your verbal abilities are, you are valid. those autistics out there with different verbal abilities, you're doing great!! - The Dreamdrop System

hello. i am Lettuce. i am wolfkin. i am 10 and a nonvebral autsitic. but i can make sure my owners type out what i want. i may be a plushie frog, but i am a plush wolf! in my paracoms and background and story i am a young frog plush with spieces dysphoria. i chose that i was a wolf. i always have been, in my story. we don't have any wolf plushies to my knowledge but i want us to have some so i can befriend them. we've been watching animal/zoo documentaries/shows when i really wanna watch wolf documentaries with my owners and Milkshake (my best friend)

in the plushie paracosms i have ears and a animated tail i made! i followed a youtube tutorial our owners watched a while ago. Milkshake and the others were so amazed. other plushies were too. one of our owners Niko drew it cause he was the one that daydreamed about it first.

anyways i really like this edit of me. i wish i could be a wolf physically, but i am just a plushie. maybe i can shapeshift in our daydream world? i don't know can i do that?? not sure.. anyways WOOF this journal entry was fun.

i'm sure there are other plushies that feel this way or similar. i mean there's "humans" that feel like plushies like some of our owners like Shane-!! you're not alone. - Lettuce

this user uses AACs

an AAC aka augmentative and alternative communication, are forms of nonverbal communication. this could mean writing your words down, using a digital AAC app with buttons to talk for you, using a text to speech or TTS app, using a speech board, communication card and other thing. they're all valid forms of communication.

Shane uses AAC mainly to communicate. Shane deals with a lot lot lot lot of verbal loss, along with other alters. Shane is unreliably verbal, or semivebral / semi speakijg we have semiverbal / speaking and nonvebral / speaking alters in our systm. lots of alters in our system use AACs to communicate, in and out of our inner worlds. we are a bodily BIPOC system that uses AAC and it's oddly against us to use it. family, doctors etc. we just wanted to use what we need. when we're comfortable with.

you shouldn't have to pay to communicate, sadly a lot of us do

if you use AACs sometimes, often or always, there is nothing wrong with communicating this way.

This is a post to remind you it's okay to use AACs/TTS

AACs are important for autistics that deal with communication issues. When your mouth parts don't work (verbal loss/ nonspeaking, semispeaking, selectively mute etc) or hell, you don't want to use verbal communication. And that's valid too.

There are plenty of auties that use both verbal and nonverbal communication. There are plenty of auties that prefer nonverbal communication. And that's okay.

We have semiverbal and nonverbal alters and alters who have verbal loss. In our life we've been forced to be verbal and that's not okay. our system is full of AAC users

our main host is a unreliably verbal / semispeaking / semiverbal..

Using nonverbal communication has helped them interact more and that is key. they are valid and so are you. ♡ - HoneyLily
