Have now watched FOUR SKAM remakes over the past couple of weeks and sorry to all the "some remakes fixed what didn't work in S2" people, but OG Noorhelm stands undefeated for me. When it comes to chemistry, physicality, angst, and that overall sense of teen obsession, they still take it.
SKAM Italia - The only William (that I know of) that gets the benefit of his girlfriend confiding in him about her sexual assault and his reaction is...exactly the same as the Williams who are told by their brothers that their gfs cheated on them? Uh...okay.
SKAM Germany - So, instead of just ghosting Vilde and texting her invites to try to get Noora to come to parties, this William decides to keep having sex with her until Noora snaps and agrees to go out with him if he dumps Vilde and stops encouraging her to get a boob job. Lovely.
SKAM Austin - It's...fine, but forgettable. In large part because the Noora and William are absolutely bodied by how much more entertaining the Chris/Vilde/Sana are. A few casting changes might've gotten them a S3, tbh.
SKAM Netherlands - Okay, these two are sweet and lovely. But BARELY a Noora or William. Which is probably why they're my faves after the OGs. But it's also kind of hard to buy this artsy weirdo as the school's #1 fuckboy, and sticking to the OG plots starts to feel very perfunctory, because they simply do not fit who these characters are. And omg, it took me a solid 30 minutes to get through that wedding dress scene because I kept having to walk away out of embarrassment.
Okay, France up next.

oh it’s 2023 now. everyone should know by now that supporting remakes that did not fundamentally change things about noorhelm makes you an abuse apologist. cool!

Thoughts on Skam (OG)
After more than a year I finally finished watching the original Skam. Maybe it’s because I watched 5 remakes in a row from prior to it, but I fully admit I checked out of Noora’s season early on. I know the OG is widely considered the best version of Skam, but honestly, I disagree. I wouldn’t even put it in my Top 3.
Season one was okay. It was the basic first season. Those of ya’ll who remember my posts from 2020-2021 know I don’t really care much for the first two seasons of a given Skam (Execept for Austin and NL since those only did the frist two seasons.). This was no different. It is the baseline. I’d need to reatch to get my exact feelings down (I’m not doing that.), but I liked it as much as I can like any version of season one nowadays.
Seasons two through four were done better in the remakes. No version of season two will ever top Skam España‘s season three and no version of Noorhelm will ever surpass  or be as good as Norandro. I just don’t see it happening for me. I spent most of Noora’s season snarking to myself and waiting for it to end. Season three? I enjoyed it more than season two, but Druck did it better. Best I can say it that I like the main couple more than France’s, but that’s a low bar to clear.
Which brings me to season four. Outside of France Skam just can’t seem to do a good Sana season. Season four is honestly France’s best season and if not the best it’s the second best (Though I haven’t seen their 9 and 10 yet.). I remember liking that Druck allowed their Sana to call out the bullshit happening to her, but not much else. OG’s was honestly kind of boring. Sana and Yousef were kind of cute together, but that didn’t amount to much. I’ll give it points for actually focusing on Sana but that’s something to be expected.
Overall though? I’m not sure if it’s because of burnout (Again, I watched NL, España, France, Italia, and Druck over the course of more than a year with little breaks between them.), if I’m just that biased in other version’s favors, or if the OG is overhyped but the OG was a letdown for me. Looking over my previous post this is honestly the most negative I’ve been about Skam. It might honestly be my least favorite version of the 7 I’ve seen.
Next up is WTFOCK. I still have seasons 9-10 of France, 7-8 of Druck, and season 5 of Italia to watch but I’m not really feeling the mood to return to any of them right now. I dunno. I’m kind of exited to get to know a new cast. I’ll start it on Monday and I think I’ll go back to seasonal thoughts for it. See ya’ll next week!

okay so i know s4 of wtfock was trash but am i the only one who found that scene in the opening, where the guys ask senne if kato is fuckable and he agrees while zoe walks by and she stops in her tracks and turns to him going wtf while ‘say my name’ plays in the background and he leans back slightly with his chin tilted up and asks “got a problem?” while giving her that look, to be insanely hooootttt, or are y’all normal???

No, but DRUCK's Noorhelm kiss was so fucking satisfying. Alex doesn't take Mia's blows with a smirk all the time like Willy did, and Mia is much harsher at times than Noora was, so the situation felt a hell of a lot more tense. Especially with the photos thing (for fuck's sake Jonas).
So it was very satisfying to see them kiss, and then see Alex flip her off a la Mia, and then do that weird jump like—Alex is a bit weird and I am definitely pleased because Willy was...well, pretty vanilla.
Also for the first time is registers that Alex has been trying to date Mia for like two months now and she finally kissed him and

an idea: skam españa s3 about norandro except it’s from alejandro’s pov and he’s the one with the SA storyline
could be interesting to see what it is like the other way around (especially with a character like him)

I wanted this scene to happen already because it was so stressful to wait for it for so long.
After an extra week of waiting, I really thought I was ready for this scene.
I was wrong. I wasn't ready.
By understanding william's (senne's) point of view for the first time, and knowing I won't get mad because of his reaction, I thought it would be easier and that would hurt less to watch this scene.
Once again, I was so wrong. It wasn't easier. It was so much harder actually. It also hurt so much more that it actually broke my heart.
This was the first time I didn't just felt bad for noora (zoë) , but for william (senne) too. Which means that my pain was double, i felt it for both zoë and senne, and it made me so upset and I cried for the first time.
I feel like no one liked the reaction (because it was so painful for everyone), but everyone understands it. Everyone can see his side and his point of view for the first time and it makes so much more sense.
We saw not only zoë's pov, but senne's too, and that is how they showed us that neither of them are wrong here. They are not guilty, it is only viktor who is responsible and guilty. There are no picking sides as to who was right and who was wrong, zoë (you could say she was wrong to lie, but then you could also say she had every right to deal with what happened to her on her own terms because she is the victim and no one can judge her in her situation) or senne (you could say he was wrong for walking away without hearing zoë out, but then you can also say that it was more than obvious to everyone, including him, that she has been lying to him for weeks, which is an enough of a reason for him to believe she cheated on him and in that moment, when you think person you love cheated on you with your own brother, you don't want to hear any explanations, and you get mad because you feel betrayed and no one can convince me otherwise). There is only viktor as the bad guy. And that is exactly how it should be.
Also, so much credit to both nathan and veerle for this scene. Once again, so emotional and amazing. And even the girls, especially yasmina, who we saw the best, were so good.
So much credit to both the actors and the writers. Everything was done and handled with so much care, everything that led to this scene and then the scene alone too.

Dikshin is the guy you either envy or lust after. He is the head boy as well the captain of the football team and everyone in school knows who he is. But he himself is quite closed off and can usually be seen brooding in the library, reading T. S Elliot. Though the school stud, he insists he's actually really sensitive and just wants to get to know the girls' "soul"...whatever that means.

Also! The fact that is verbally acknowledged that it was a panic attack, and that Hanna says he needs therapy, and that Mia says he already had preliminary consultation—it is so important. They adress the issue instead of using it as a fleeting plot device.
I also like how they are developing Jonas after the breakup; he still has feelings for Hanna and he is dealing badly, in the wrong way. He's drinking more, smoking too much, isolating even from his closest friend. He's picked up unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with how much he loves someone he can't be with. He's quite literally the opposite to Hanna, and I like that. I like that she's worried but not guilty, that she wants to help but knows she can't take care of him.
