The main reason for people not meeting their feeding goals for their new babies is perceived low supply. Perceived. Blew my mind when I first found out. What are your thoughts? 🤔 Advice from @imogenibclc on how to tell if everything is ok: Especially in the early days this can be tricky to know. There are some simple ways of knowing. 1. Monitor how many wet and dirty nappies they are having. After all what goes in must come out. From when your milk volume increases (usually about three days after the birth of your baby) you should see about 6 wet nappies per day. Your baby should also be having several soft yellow or mustard coloured poos per day. 2. Also look & listen for swallowing - when your baby is breastfeeding well you will see their jaw moving throughout the feed (with occasional pauses) If you can’t hear them swallowing look for the slight pause in their sucking when they swallow. 3. Weight gain 4. Look for signs that they are full and satisfied. Their body especially their hands and face will soften and often they will fall asleep on the breast or come off the breast on their own after about 10-30 minutes of active sucking & swallowing. . . . #breastfeeding #ibclc #nicunurse #informedisbest #normalisebreastfeeding #motherhood #selondon #london #newborn (at Rochester, Medway) https://www.instagram.com/p/B41gaxtg9PS/?igshid=1k9mv9cza4rhv
After 2.5 years of procrastination, I finally ordered and recieved my breastmilk ring.
This beauty right here is made from my hard made breastmilk and some seagrass for colouring.
Breastfeeding didn't come easy. I had many nights of crying, of pain, of feeding aversion. I needed to pump, source donor milk, and feed using a nipple shield. I've been bitten, scratched and punched.
But I didn't give up.
And now I have this gorgeous ring to remind me that I did everything I could to give Theo the best start in life.
More boobs! I couldn't forget mysilver boob earrings too :) If you have silver boobies that means you're a breastfeeding superstar that made it to 6months, go you! And reminder that for every pair of silver boobies sold on my site in August £10 will be donated to @alecheleague_gb #breastfeeding #breastfeedingweek #breastfeedingawareness #extendedbreastfeedingisnormal #normalisebreastfeeding #biologicalynormal #recycledsilver #silverboobies #breastfeedingawards #silverearrings https://www.instagram.com/p/ChHViMJAsyj/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
