Whew look at you go! Had a small problem with aphids a lil while back, but after a whole lot of diligence they were banished. Still have some of the damaged leaves visible but look at all the healthy new growth!

You may be trying to take over my desk, but I couldn’t ask for a better art companion. The moss in the planter is happy with the frequent watering and shade, but the impatiens is trying to devoir the terrarium moss now too

My oxalis is thriving still, too. But it has its own space above me and isn’t trying to reach out and say hello as much.

Also the rose being her signature flower shown both in her headwear her pin and her assassin clothing #The less obvious fact is her maiden surname #Briar is the name in Little Briar Rose. The ENG title translation in the german version of this tale #Another fun fact considering Ostania is based on Germany so obviously none of these were coincidences #At first I thought the rose could be one of the emblems of the organization as a whole or in general #but after seeing the shopkeeper the only resemblance I could find between his design and Yor's is that both wear those daggers accessories #Yor wearing them in plain sight as earrings while the shopkeeper has them hanging from the ends where he ties his apron behind his neck #so maybe those are the emblems much like that symbol with an eye is to WISE #Of course given how the organisation is called Garden I suppose one of the main themes are plants/flowers/nature #Which has me wondering if other characters may have tale inspo as well or Yor is one the few/only who has references to a tale #it could be something that appears frequently perhaps? i had a lot of free time today so i spent like three hours documenting as many plants as i could identify in the 300-foot long parking strip i use as a garden. the amount of biodiversity in such a small place is WILD

#i had trouble identifying any of the grasses but there's at least 3 different species #there's two or three different species of dandelion type flowers #a teeny tiny white flower that's just about to bloom #a whole bunch of red deadnettles #some plants which i'm pretty sure are chickweed and nipplewort (heh)#and a single yellowrocket #the embankment across the sidewalk has english ivy himalayan blackberries and another flowering ground cover fighting for dominance #plus a few grape hyacinths being choked by grass #i saw so many finches and wrens and crows and jays and flickers #and so many insects!#aaaaa i love my garden

Going back to look at my sun, my moon, and all my stars after having engaged so much more with the source material is wild to me, but it is still a thing that I did, and I do think those three are still wildly in love, and in my mind, they definitely have a commitment ceremony on the ship after the events of the fic, and Jim and Spock make the unreasonably risky decision (with the help of Sulu) to synthesize a version of the Vulcan death flower that isn't dangerous so they can have them in their bouquets (even though Jim still thinks it's morbid) because they know how Bones feels about the flowers.

Had to move my old art and thus went through my old art of Cathy and I gotta say the evolution of her character is so funny to me, because it basically went:

Self-insert -> got bored of that and gave her a total make-over in personality and appearance -> Although, this happened when I was 13 and so the chosen ‘improved’ Cathleen was just a disney princess -> Angst era, in which all the whump and hurt/comfort I could possibly think of was thrown at her, although her appearance remained largely the same (its not changed much over the years tbh) -> eventually got tired of that and decided to make something a little less angsty, which landed her on the run-away bride arc -> finally, she and Mel became what they are now; just two gals doing magic and collecting, like, herbs and whatnot

Oh, and they also got gayer with each phase.

#at this point im honestly torn between having her even get the whole romance arc #she deserves to collect her herbs and grow her flowers and tend to animals in peace lol #melanie just became less druid-y and witchy and more a tired academic #if anything she’s an alchemist #which ig is just also a druid in a sense #in-universe she’d still be a druid (without a license to practice ig?)#in my world anyone can be a druid #maybe the real druid was the friends we made along the way #cathleen #cathycore #the villagers watching cathy and mel gather stones and plants; whats better than this—just two girls being gals #asterix #asterix oc

man maybe it's just because i'm very particular about my own standards for associating in game and real life plants but like. when someone on the wiki goes "oh this plant is probably a reference to [real life plant]" and you go to the wikipedia page and. it does not even grow on the same continent as the inspiration for the nation it grows in..........
