I'm also going to talk about this:
Tumblr media
"Why do systems need special terms for normal experiences" sounds a lot like my mom saying "why do you need to label yourself" about my queer identity.
One, because it helps me understand myself. But more importantly, because my experiences ARE fundamentally altered (hehe) by my plurality. Some of us are fragments and NOT full people. Some of us are symptom holders, trauma holders, or otherwise dealing with stuff compartmentalized to that headmate because that's how many forms of plurality work.
No, most of us AREN'T persecutors OR protectors. Many of us can't be that. Some were unintentionally in that role before our plurality became apparent. Those people have stepped down and been able to heal because they are not in that role. Others explicitly consented to keeping or taking up that role. I'm gonna come back to this.
"Because we still see ourselves as not normal" - Do you think being abnormal is bad? Do you? Do you think the terms neurodivergent and neurotypical are bad because they imply a norm and a divergence from it? Do you think it's untrue that systems have unique experiences from singlets?
Because if so, that's big "a trans person talking about how their experience of gender is different than the corresponding cis gender because of their transness is transphobia". Real "transmascs who use the lesbian label are misgendering themselves" energy. Truly "using queer implies you're odd so you can't reclaim it". Absolute "everyone's on the spectrum" vibes. Real "I don't see color" bullshit.
I don't feel the need to be normal because I'm not an assimilationist, actually. Acceptance doesn't come of making everything normal, acceptance comes of teaching everyone to respect when something diverges from typical experiences.
Also actually, it's fairly common to use labels for people that only sometimes have aspects of a role. Have you ever heard of a career? What about moods? Is someone not a "cheerful" person if they are sad sometimes? Not funny if 10 percent of their jokes flop? Singlets absolutely take on labels that describe things they sometimes embody.
Part of the reason there's not a one to one singlet label is because singlets have the same "fronter" all the time. If a persecutor behaves in that role even thirty percent of the time, and fronts ten percent of the time that they do, others only see the system behaving that way THREE percent of the time. As opposed to the singlet, who would be seen behaving that way... thirty percent of the time. Wow! Math!
Us using a role to describe ourselves is not us dehumanizing ourselves any more than using it/its pronouns is. We are people, who are ALSO our roles. Role kinda... implies that it is neither the whole person nor permanent. Actors who play roles, roles in a company/project... none of those are describing the whole of a person. Imagine saying "you can't call yourself a video editor, you're more than that". -_-
When it is a choice, that we consent to... you call it a "recipe for disaster" and "a self-fulfilling prophecy". Do you think that we can't CHOOSE whether or not we want to fulfill that role, and when we want to? Do you think we'll just go "oh well we're a persecutor guess we have to be shitty to others/ourselves"?
While any of us can sometimes lash out when triggered, we specifically have an agreement that the persecutor most able and willing to handle a situation will do so with the permission of the host and other affected sysmates. There are times we need someone who isn't afraid to be an ass to people that are hurting us - while using their best judgment about it, of course.
This is also a term that has helped those who had unintentionally stepped into the role process their own trauma and triggers. We had a few people get triggered by our partner at separate points in time.
When they recognized that they were behaving as persecutors, that 1. their actions would affect everyone 2. that when not triggered they would feel bad about us and our loved ones being hurt by them and 3. that when we recognized certain system members fronting while upset we might be triggered and need to use our coping mechanisms... it made a huge positive difference for us. We were able to negotiate that we would let them protect us when it WAS needed if they would trust us to call them when it was.
So, as for an example:
Demonia. She picked the name. She is a demon. She enjoys hurting people - she is a sadist by nature. She gets that in two ways - 1. by consensual kink play and 2. by dishing it right back out to neo///nazis, te///rfs, abusers, and the like - within limits, because she understands that her actions affect everyone in the system, and there are lines that many of us won't cross. (Most of those lines are actually the same for her, but there's a few minor ones she otherwise wouldn't care about.)
She also, while still figuring out her identity, seems to like certain -dere anime tropes, video games, and media with angels/demons in it (for the most part, she says). She is relatively laid back otherwise and has a great sense of humor. She's often one to cheer me up when I'm feeling down and need a pick me up. If you think I see her as just a persecutor - that's HER label that she's takes pride in. She is proud that she has sharp teeth to defend us with when it's needed.
She also would be free to step down from the role at any time - an idea that currently is distasteful to her, but she does know that it's her choice and wouldn't have it any other way.
Lastly, the fact that it's largely used by DID/disordered systems IS relevant. While I'll never gatekeep terms based on origin or disordered status, these terms specifically speak to a phenomenon that is MORE common for us, BECAUSE OF our trauma. The dissociative barriers we have compartmentalize us to a more significant degree than in healthy multiplicity.
For us, this is especially true, as recognizing that one of us was acting in that role due to trauma or similar, was the exact reason they were able to start addressing those issues, heal, and become more than that. Saying "hey, you've been acting as a persecutor, is that a role you want?" has lowered the dissociative barriers that HAD boxed them into that role.
Trauma can cause headmates to form differently. It can cause them to inadvertently take on roles. That's a HUGE part of why the role labels are important! To recognize when the brain split a headmate in response to harm we faced - whether a caregiver, protector, persecutor, or otherwise - and examine if the role that was given to them at the time is now healthy or fulfilling for them. It's similar to examining whether coping skills formed in response to trauma serve us anymore - except, this is a whole ass PERSON the brain made as a "coping skill".
⚔️: I was one of those former persecutors. Things were... really hard before we realized that's what was going on. I was really hurting and... and it was no one's fault, but... it was because of me having been shoved to the front to protect us so often without any of us realizing. That's part of us being disordered, y'know? Until we knew we had DID, we simply didn't have the knowledge or toolset or anything to KNOW that that was happening. Our dissociative disorder assigned me that role, but I was the one who got to decide not to keep it as soon as we realized that it had.
I've heard "you don't need to label yourself and pigeonhole yourself into a box" from queerphobes and ableists. I've heard "it's not 'normal' to call yourself [label] based on [traits]" from all manner of bigots. Obsession wirh normalcy itself is assimilationism at best and borders on fascism at worst. And saying the labels a person CHOOSES for themselves are "not normal" when equating abnormality to badness is not just offensive, it's cruel.
It would be one thing to say: we've seen people sometimes label their headmates persecutors without their consent/use a reductive or incorrect definition of persecutor/pigeonhole their headmates into that role. This can be hurtful, so please be careful if you are going to use this term.
✅ Respects the autonomy of the system using the term, allows for different feelings and views on the word, draws attention to not using it just as a label for "bad" headmates and reminds people to respect the wishes of their headmates.
It's another thing to say "this is not normal/we don't need a label for this because it's an experience singlets don't have/acknowledging or choosing a role is dehumanizing and ignoring the rest of their personhood".
❌ Projects one's own feelings about the word's usage onto every system, ignores how trauma especially in disordered plurality often causes roles to form inadvertently and how recognizing that is a step towards healthy multiplicity for many, conflates being normal with being good and being abnormal with being bad, ignores that systems DO have unique experiences that singlets don't have by virtue of being multiple, also misunderstand the fundamental difference between a role and an identity.
You can be a role and a person.
I actually think "don't turn temporary descriptors into absolutes" is a very good standalone point. You can label yourself as a role even when not actively in that role, but don't force yourself to fill it all the time and don't force yourself to stay in that role if you don't want to/need not to.
I think that one part is good. I just think the rest is utter garbage.

now that the show is over and some time is slowly passing, are you willing to revisit the discussion about early show discussions about making Kara pansexual and how it veered away from that?
I mean... I've heard things but you never know what's true.
Look, I have a friend whose friend wrote for S1 under that predatory piece of shit AK, and she was so traumatized by the experience that she refuses to even discuss her time working on the show. So my friend who also watched the show and rooted for an LGBTQ Kara and SC Endgame and wanted to know WTF along with everyone else, rightfully wasn't about to push nor ask about what truly was planned or went on, because it just wouldn't be appropriate.
I also know somebody who is connected to AA's circle and I know AA went through a lot of bad and unfair shit as well. So you never know what plans people had, what long-term outlooks were in mind for characters, but starting off with a lesbian co-showrunner, and sapphic jokes and nods to Kara's possible sexuality multiple times in S1 ("Oh my God you're a lesbian." and Leslie saying she gave off sapphic butch vibes and Kara's comments about Lucy, etc) certainly hinted that she might've been meant to be bi/pan from the get by some. And rumors suggest that too. But maybe CBS got in the way?
And then when it landed on The CW, maybe someone hoped to try again with bringing in a favorite amongst wlw fandoms in the form of KMG, with an "LL" name and red/blue dynamic and her first episode having a Clois save recreation and testing chemistry and such with a 3-episode arc a la EBR on Arrow being hired for just one episode initially then recurring, then being made a regular and Oliver's romantic endgame. It sure seems like it was always something some people were aiming for -- especially after that confirmation from the S2-3 writer who openly wrote "Supercorp" into a script, wrote a scene after Mon-El was sent away where Cat tells Kara that love is still ahead for her and in walks Lena who asks Kara to dinner, and said on Twitter she "was always rooting for those two". But clearly those who rooted for it and tried for it were continuously fought and shut down by somebody... showrunners, networks, EPs, etc -- who knows. I believe even Chyler had mentioned being surprised that Alex would be the LGBTQ character for S2, and I think I read someplace that FL was cast a pretty last minute.
Meanwhile over the years, SG repeatedly lost or never locked down some of their best LGBTQ and SC-heavy writers. Did they simply move on? Were they let go for always fighting for SC? Or were they just sick of hitting walls on what was clearly the most organic path for Kara and Lena and the show, and grew tired of writing forced cheap imitation relationships between the two women and various men due to heteronormativity and homophobia and bts situations forced upon them by somebody above? Nobody knows.
So again, we can't know for certain what everyone's plans were until they reveal it themselves, if they ever even can or do. I do know other writers from the A'verse who fully saw and believed in SC and didn't understand nor agree with what the show did and why they never went there. To me, that tends to suggest it wasn't a DC/WB issue... because if was you'd think they'd know that. So it sounds -- at least to me -- like it was more of a showrunner or EP or network issue.
I will also say, I was shown a DM exchange between a S5-6 writer and a fan in S5 during the height of the writers room getting hammered with negative feedback and reviews where this writer hinted at creative conflict with showrunners and within the writer's room in general, and made it clear that some writers were in line with what fans wanted, but had people above them to answer to.
This also seems to be backed up with JF's recent interview where he stuttered through an answer on SC/queerbait, citing approvals from above being needed and so on, but never giving a direct answer on the issue. Obviously no one wants to break rank or risk future work by pointing any finger directly at any one person or company.
Look, perhaps one day we'll all find out the truth... until then, since Kara's sexuality was never defined as straight, since she slept with one man in the history of the show one time, but also seemed a bit taken by Lucy, openly flirted with Kate twice, had interesting chemistry with multiple women from Psi to Cat to Imra and more, and was established as being soulmates with Lena over the years with all the Clois and other romantic parallels and tropes and framing and the 100th (being mysterious "partners" in a universe where both weren't with others at all, and one could plead the 5th in court against having to testify against the other) and their heavily coded "coming out" discussion and "us against the world defending our family" vibe in the series finale, plus Kara looking Lena's direction while singing "we belong together" and looking/heading towards her after she took off her glasses and walked away, now her true self...
I think it's safe to assume via tons of subtext and even at times maintext in a way, that Kara was in fact pansexual, and Supercorp was truly endgame. So just take that "win" -- which in the year 2021 is an absurd and unacceptable consolation prize, alas...
It is what it is.

No tag requests from me, but I AM very interested in why you dislike Jakarn so much. Especially since you love Darien, who is very similar. This isn't like passive aggressive or anything, I am actually interested!
I can def see where the confusion might be on why I like darien but not like jakarn, especially since for a bit in the eso fandom I liked to joke that jakarn was just Crimes Darien lol. But I do see a difference between the two that I like to think isnt just my bias toward darien being my main's husband
It's kind of a three parter tho. 1) is that, as an ace person and quote unquote woman, I dont like men flirting with me without my consent. All of Darien's quips, to my knowledge and memory, required the player to initiate with the pursuade passive locked dialogue. He'd sometimes make a comment about boobs or whatever but I never felt like he was Leering at me or my character, and especially not without their consent. Also darien had a lot to his personality besides being a flirt and could turn it off pretty easily. With Jakarn... he cant go one sentence without calling the player good looking. That makes me uncomfortable. And while I havent played the prologue yet, I've heard that his characterization with respects to That is dialed up to 100. I didnt sign up for being flirted with constantly on my characters I plan to do high isle on. Theres just a slight difference in the vibes I feel off of those boys that makes me not find jakarn charming.
2) this is just petty in game interactions but I was at the point of Elsweyr main quest on my stamplar izzy where his quest triggers and had to listen to him fall through the window and call her good looking every time I did my writs for Months. Izzy is a lesbian. It made me want to decapitate him with her big sword. Stop flirting with my lesbian character dont even look at her. I'm also petty for another reason of associating him with someone I'm no longer on speaking terms with and it just tainted jakarn for me.
3) at full risk of delving into discourse, jakarn being canon bisexual while also being a serial cheater and liar has always made me not really love having to see him in game. This is less of an issue with Him and more an issue I take with the fact he's one of the few explicitly bisexual men in TES (not going after ZOS or ESO, including other tes games because they Certainly dont have bisexual representation either), shown to be into men and women (including and separate from the player), and he's not really great representation! I just dont like seeing him for that.
Overall its just that I dont actually see them as similar beyond them being slightly flirty breton men with the same hair. They're very different personality wise and I think a lot of Darien's reputation as a flirt is exaggerated simply because I was big in tesblr, liked him, and people didnt like me. Jakarn has less of a reputation in the fandom and people only had to deal with him in smaller doses before. so we will see how he takes to getting the Summerset Darien treatment for visibility.
Also this isnt me knocking anyone who Does like jakarn. I dont see people as problematic for liking him or liking aspects of him and taking bits and pieces to fit into their own canon. And I think people deserve a space to enjoy that character without being surrounded by I HATE THEM THEYRE DIGUSTING I WANT THEM TO DIE PAINFULLY like so much of tesblr has done about darien
Apologies for this getting long anon I clearly had Feelings about this lol

What will be in my bag? Pre-ordered Manga. Straight and Lez edition.
Here’s a list of English-released manga I’ve currently got on pre-order, and manga series I ordered before but won’t be continuing with the series.
As a note: Some of these titles have been released but I have not received them yet due to a issues with covid backlog effected how things are released.  I personally find that if you pre-order it tends to get you manga quicker.  It seems there is more pressure to keep up with the new release schedule than chip away at the backlog.
I’m starting with the stuff I’ve already read some of and confirmed enjoyment, then stuff I’m shooting in the dark for, and finally series I have tried recently and have discontinued.

My Androgynous Boyfriend
Story & Art by: Tamekou      Publisher: Seven Seas
It is rare for straight shit to end up in my library but My Androgynous boyfriend is an exception that will surprise no-one since it’s pretty queer adjacent.  This story is mostly a couple being lovey-dovey between jokes about sexuality and gender but (so far) isn’t problematic at all.  The female lead is quite enjoyable as she’s well-balanced and has agency throughout. There’s even ace representation! It’s very low-stakes, wholesome, and sweet so far. (Volume 3 is set to release in November.)

Even Though We’re Adults
Story & Art by: Takako Shimura  Publisher: Seven Seas
Takako is also the creator of Sweet Blue Flowers and Wandering son.  I have dipped by toe in to both those series.  I overall find their writing kinda meandering and tepid (might just be me) but technically pretty solid.  I am hopeful for this series since it features adults....if the title didn’t make it obvious.  I was intrigued by the one character being married but the man finding out about the affair quickly and reacting more realistically and interestingly than the average male love interest in a Yuri.  I also found myself relating at bit to Akari’s angst about being unlucky with relationships with women.  I also do enjoy the artwork! This one is the most likely of my followed series to be dropped at some point. (Volume 2 of this manga was set to release in June this year.)

Kase-san and Yamada
Story & Art by: Hiromi Takashima  Publisher: Seven Seas
This is a series I keep going back to.  While it is the very typical low-stakes bubbly, cutesy School age Yuri...it is a very good version of that.  Just warm bubble bath vibes. (Volume 7 is set to release in February of next year.  I think it was originally supposed to be released this May but was bumped back.)
My Excitement Level: The gentle about to sink into a bubble bath variety
NOW ONTO THE SERIES I HAVEN’T READ BUT I’M TAKING A CHANCE ON!
Tumblr media
Adachi and Shimaura
Art: Moke Yuzuhara Story: Hitoma Iruma  Publisher: Yen Press
This, as I understand it, is a slow-burn romance about two delinquent girls.  I have heard good things about the novel and the anime series!  However I prefer manga to novels and don’t have a funimation account so I went to snag it in manga form. (Volume 1 was set to release in February this year and 2 in September)
My Excitement Level: Cautious Optimism

The Girl I want is so handsome!
Story & Art by:Yuama     Publisher: Seven Seas
The premise is a young lady has a crush on a handsome older girl who’s oblivious to her advances.  When she tries to confess she instead gets roped into being the club manager of the basketball team that her crush is a part of.  So it feels like it may end up cycling through 2 jokes and be so deep in the stereotypical manga bullshit you can easily-predict its beats volumes in advance. HOWEVER that is also a premise that is similar to Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun which is legitimately a hilarious series. Also I fucking love butch/stud/masc-presenting women/AFAB people.  So I’m willing to risk “The same Anime bullshit” for good jokes and a cute lezzy romance with a beautiful butch.  (Volume 1 is set to release of December of this year.)
My Excitement Level: Pretty nervous actually.  I hope it works out!
Tumblr media
Monologue Woven for You
Story & Art by: Syu Yasaka     Publisher: Seven Seas
A woman gives up on a career in theater gets tangled in a relationship with a woman passionately pursuing theater.  Since it is set between college age women, and appears to be about more personal and mature themes I am interested. (Volume 1 I BELIEVE is supposed to be released in February of next year.)
My Excitement Level: Cautious Optimism
Tumblr media
Mizuno and Chayama (No page yet so far as I can tell.)
Story & Art by: Yuhta Nishio     Publisher: Yen Press
Two daughters of feuding families meet in secret.  This is by the same author of After Hours.  I read a bit of After Hours and found it fine but boring since it seemed without conflict.  Conflict doesn’t seem to be in short supply with a story like this!  While I enjoy the sugary-sweet high school lesbian romances...those are not in short-supply. So I am always hungry for something darker, meatier, more mature. (Volume 1 is set to release next February)
My Excitement Level: Cautious Optimism
Tumblr media
5 Seconds Before The Witch Falls In Love
Story & Art by:  Zeniko Sumiya     Publisher: Seven Seas
It appears to be a playful fantasy about a Witch and Witch-hunter who’s antagonism turns romantic.  This may end up one note and stupid...but I’m always hear for queer romances set in high-fantasy and I haven’t read a Yuri where rivals turns to lovers. (Volume 1 is set to release next February)
My Excitement Level: Low-key
Tumblr media
Catch These Hands! (No page yet so far as I can tell.)
Story & Art by: Murata     Publisher: Yen Press
A former delinquent runs into her high school rival.  After losing a fight to her she agrees to her terms...her terms being to go out on a date with her.  I mean the title alone makes me want to pick it up!  It may run afoul of bad anime humor, but I’m hoping with the fact that it’s full of gay adult delinquents that it’ll be a little different.  (Volume 1 is set to release next February)
My Excitement Level: Medium-key
Series I have discontinued:

I’m in love with the Villainess
Art by: Aonoshimo  Story by:  Inori   Publisher: Seven Seas
A woman gets reborn into her favorite Otome game but she wants to romance the villiain!  I had heard a ton of great things about the novel but I picked up the manga version. (If the novel is totally different I can’t speak to it.)  For me, the writing is ham-handed, the jokes flop 90% of the time, and the fact the lead’s only personality trait seems to be ~obsessed with a bully~ really dampens this title.  Her advances are so aggressive and unwanted I honestly started feeling bad for a spoiled rich bully.  I will say it’s saving grace is the fact that the lead is masochistically into the villainess’ tsundere abusiveness. For me I hate tsundere romances if framed like, “I like you DESPITE your insults.” It is only tolerable if it’s instead, “I like you cause you tell it like it is. I’m a dirty little pig. Please step on this bad little piggy!”

Our Teachers are Dating
Story & Art by: Pikachi Ohi      Publisher: Seven Seas
Well one reason I stopped the series is that cover you see up there.  The sex in this series is fade to black but FOR SOME REASON the 3rd cover has them both butt naked.  But on a less superficial note, the story is about two teachers who start dating.  And while cute at points, I was just underwhelmed.  I think a part of it, is the fact that this behaves like a stereotypical high school romance...and while set in a high school...these are grown ass women not 15 year olds.  So I have less patience with the, “Gosh when will I get to kiss my girlfriend?” bullshit.  I mean, I would hesitate to call it bad...but it’s just not a good version of it’s brand of bullshit.
Tumblr media
Breath of Flowers
Story & Art by: Caly                       Publisher: Tokyopop
Absolute train-wreck, this is hands down the worst Yuri I have ever bought.  The story is nonsensical and all over the place.  There is a love rival who’s trying to break the two of them up so she can get with Gwyn...but then switches mid-gear to put in a lot of effort to bring them together intentionally...but she also still wants to hook up with Gwyn...it’s very ????????????  The main conflict of Gwyn is hiding their gender so they can play basketball on the boy’s team (not well explained) is built up hugely and resolved with a hand flick.  There is a melodramatic moment where a school nurse says more or less, “GIVE IT UP YOU’LL NEVER BE A BOY!” And it’s like “OH SHIT! The fact that Gwyn is on the basketball team is cause he’s a transboy trying to live life as a boy! Oh gosh it makes so much more sense now!”  But the author seems to not even know that trans people exist cause the story bumbles along as if that scene never happened.  The closest we get is at the end Gwyn is like, “Look I’m learning to do make-up on myself to make you happy lawl!” Which is I GUESS supposed to be, “NO NO DON’T WORRY ALL OF GWYN’S GENDER STUFF WAS JUST THERE TO MAKE THE MAIN CHARACTER SEXUALLY CONFUSED WHEN SHE DISCOVERS GWYN’S TRUE GENDER!  HER TRUE GENDER IS 100% CIS WOMAN CAUSE SHE DID MAKE-UP ONCE! IT’S FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!” Like whaaaaaaaaat?  And it ends on a very random scene which doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the story.  Ugh just very bad do not interact!

A White Rose in Bloom
Story & Art by: Asumiko Nakamura    Publisher: Seven Seas
At an all girls catholic school a young woman falls for a mysterious foreign student.  I grabbed this cause it’s gay and I overall like Asumiko Nakamura’s work (she also does Doukyusei, double mints, and others.)  However I was just not grabbed with this title.  I just felt like I wasn’t getting what was making the MC pants on head obsessed with Steph.  Also the lead’s mother tells her that she’s getting divorced and therefore will no longer have money to pay for the university and she’s framed like a super bad person for this.  Like I get why the MC (a teenager) would think that something like that is THE END OF THE WORLD! But I remember them really framing the mom like a selfish bitch for this...when like...it’s well established that her mom and dad’s relationship has been toxic for YEARS and that they TRIED SO HARD to fix it.  OH WELL!  This might be good but it just didn’t grab me in the 1st volume.
I’ll make a post on the BL titles later! Take care and Stay Rotten!

Hi, I really loved your post with the monsters as Birds of Prey! Was wondering if you had any thoughts on the Foxes as Marvel or Mcu characters? I feel like I could see Dan as Carol Danvers and Andrew for sure is Jessica Jones, idk about the rest.
oh wow old post!!
haha unfortunately i’m not really a comics person so i don’t feel like i can really give the best analysis possible, but i have seen most of the mcu movies and bits and pieces of the netflix show so i’ll try my best. also im using dc characters too bc i want to
1. Dan: I think your instinct with Dan as Captain Marvel is spot-on (at least uhhh,, based on the movie lol sorry comics ppl). Her direct, forceful powers and fighting style are definitely reminiscent of dan’s no-nonsense leadership approach. similarly the themes of overcoming sexism and acceling in a male-dominated industry in the captain marvel movie is pretty much the same as dan’s story establishing herself as the first female exy captain (tho sports is way more valid than the military). plus there’s a lot of emphasis on love and friendship between women that dan is ALL about. also lashana lynch would be a god tier dan wilds fc. Dan could also def have that lawful good Okoye from Black Panther energy. Loyal, disciplined, no-nonsense leader. no powers except discipline. no hair. also danai gurira in 2012 with the dreads and the sword and the cape on TWD was definitely part of my middle school sexual awakening
2. Kevin: Aquaman. this is based pretty much exclusively on the fact that jason momoa is my #1 kevin fc and also that Pasifika kevin is phenomenal and mandatory, actually. otherwise i think he has a decent amount of stick-up-the-ass cyclops energy. or dick grayson nightwing energy but i don’t have any evidence for why. kinda looks like him tho
3. Andrew: andrew gets the most characters bc he’s my favorite. i think ur jessica jones instincts are absolutely correct, both in her storyline (i only watched the first season) and her powers. i’ve seen some powers au and the tendency seems to be giving andrew like,, psychic powers or the like, and i don’t really agree. andrew is a very direct character. he’s pragmatic, he confronts problems head on, and he doesn’t muck about in details. to me this really translates best into physical powers like super strength that help u big punch straight thru all ur problems. also i def think andrew would be not just a solo hero but a mercenary (or a detective) because he’s not altruistic enough to be a standard vigilante. he doesn’t care enough about other people to hang out on rooftops all night waiting for Crime to occur. there’s a price for that.  which brings us to the NEXT andrew hero: deadpool. maybe in personality more of a drugged andrew but the superpowered mercenary is really a perfect fit for andrew. also, healing powers have a decidedly tragic poetry to them on andrew. already he’s self-destructive, if he had a healing factor his concern for his own well-being would be so beyond rock bottom it’d be in the earth’s core. even worse when you remember that with a healing factor, as opposed to indestructibility, you still feel all the pain. which brings us to Wolverine and X-23, who have the same thematic points as deadpool but are much more of a personality match and they have knife hands, which i really think andrew would appreciate. ending that sadness train and onto another tho, andrew’s aesthetic and Vibes fit the Winter Soldier just SO well (just that movie tho, not really civil war or anything past that) and a reinterpretation of the captain america story using the twinyards would be incredibly interesting. and finally, one last hero that would work really well for andrew: rogue, only remove the angst around not being able to touch people, andrew would love that. one touch and their comatose? baller. don't fucking touch him.
4. Matt: Shazam. I didn’t see the shazam movie but my dad and brother did and they said it was very funny and all the trailors looked like it had a lot of fun himbo energy and i really think that fits. in terms of matching himbo disaster energy i think i’ve heard good things about comics hawkeye (not mcu). thor?
5. Aaron: Mr. Fantastic. now this might be a stretch but aaron is a character who uses a skin-deep veneer of anger to cover the fact that he’s actually quite pliant and bends to other people’s wills. and he’s a doctor or w/e. he could alse be like,, antman. he’s smart right? hank pym not paul rudd. katelyn can be wasp
6. Seth: Arm Fall Off Boy. no i will not elaborate.             ..... ugh fine, but i'm using my favorite piece of superhero media of all time: x-men evolution, the one where they're all teenagers in public high school. seth can be lance alvers/avalanche who’s a bit of a jerk and has a lot of issues with authority and has a rivalry with cyclops very reminiscent of seth with kevin, but still there’s the recurring theme that he’s lashing out because of low self-esteem and a bad situation and he’s a surprisingly sympathetic character who i’m very fond of. his power is earthquakes but i think the name makes that pretty self-explanatory
7. Allison: Iron Man. cocky, bitchy, and rich rich rich. sounds like allison to me. then to elevate it a level higher: emma frost, rich bitch extraordinaire. also if allison had telepathic powers she would be unstoppable. plus one more bitchy, morally-gray blonde (but chaotic this time): Harley Quinn
8. Nicky: Okay so I do wanna give a quick shout-out to Northstar, the first openly gay comicbook superhero, who’s a speedster which I’d actually say fits Nicky pretty well. However, if i had to choose a superhero to represent nicky in presence and powers it would have to be Jubilee from x-men (... from what i’ve heard lol. i’ve never actually consumed any of her Media hahaha anyway) she’s a joyful, energetic presence and her powers are setting off fireworks which i think is a good balance of nicky being a supportive cousin-parent AND a chaotic train wreck garbage trash man. also gonna throw in johnny storm for a cheap 'flaming' joke
9. Renee: Thunder/Blackbird from Black Lightning bc she’s a fufkin lesbian lol. (i don’t watch the show but i do follow nafessa williams’s tag). now the fr ones i’m gonna do together because to me they have the same Vibes so i chose them for the same reasons. Wonder Woman and Storm who to me have the same  reserved, impartial, regal energy. honestly ethereal and somewhat otherwordly, and quite literally goddesses. also op as hell.  black widow and her “red in my leger” looking for redemption story also fits thematically.
10. Neil: okay lazy answer first: the flash or quicksilver. get it? because they run fast? and neil run too? yea i like to think i've proven myself to be better than such a surface level interpretation but worth the mention ig. so for srs now, mystique and her shape changing powers would be an interesting interpretation of neil's identity issues, but i wanna push it a step further. nightcrawler would actually be possibly the MOST interesting hero to apply to neil 1. because powers still very movement go fast place to place 2. because of the thematic focus on neil's unusual looks and the lengths he goes to hide them, very much in line with the way nightcrawler will use a hologram-projector in order to look human, yet in both cases it's only a surface-level illusion, and 3. his parentage. here, mary would be mystique, which i also think works very well considering mary seemed to be the far more effective chameleon on the run than neil, and also fits with her place as a morally grey character, as mystique herself is often a villain or an antagonist, with her own agenda and shadowy motives. then nathan matches well with nightcrawler's father: azazel, a literal demon, and also where kurt gets his appearance. it's a shockingly coherent narrative between the three of them. then, to also give neil some powers that aren't contingent on his fucked up geneology and rather on his own merit and abilities, Black Canary and her sonic voice parallel the way that neil began to anchor his identity and take ownership over himself through his voice and his sick roasts
and 1 extra, wymack: batman, on account of his altruism, his dedication to second chances, and his many, many adopted children
---
anon, ik it's been a sec since you sent this, so i hope it gets back to you. i had a fun time with it and it prompted like,,, 7 different au s that i'll never write

20-35🙈😉
Hi nonnie!! Thank you for the asks!! And don’t think I don’t see you choosing from the bottom of the list with that winky face 🙈🙈🥰
20. How tall are you?
Disney princess height 😋 (is that a bad joke?? Oops)
21. Your last sexual encounter - good or bad and why:
Oh my god it’s been so long. Like honestly so PATHETICALLY long, I don’t even remember when it was 🙈 I’m going to go out on a limb and say it wasn’t great? Because it was towards the end of my last relationship and honestly— it was never great 😬
22. Are you into dressing up for sex?
No? I mean, I’m all for sexy lingerie and black lacy things, but other than that.... no
23. Top or bottom?
Bottom? I think most people would call me a switch because it depends who I’m with, but I prefer being a bottom. Honestly sometimes I find being a top very exhausting?? I will do it, don’t get me wrong, but after too long I get whiny and baby and “ugh I just want someone to take care of me” so 🙈 I think there’s a name for that? Service top? Is that right?? I don’t know, there are a lot of sexual terms I still don’t know 👀
24. Is one orgasm enough? Are multiple orgasms necessary?
Funnily enough, this actually has a great deal to do with the answer to the previous question. On an average night, one is usually enough. Especially if it’s really good. But if I orgasm before I take care of my partner, then I usually need to orgasm again after if I'm going to fall asleep or be productive or function for the rest of the day. And as I’ve said before, if it’s the morning, for some reason it takes around five before I feel any sense of relief (although I don’t know what that says about how needy I am asdfklasjlf)
25. Would you have a problem with going down on someone if they hadn’t shaved their pubic hair?
I know I'm going to sound like a bitch when I say this. I know I am. But... yes. Hear me out: I feel like if there’s no grooming of any kind down there, it maybe implies the person isn’t very concerned with hygiene in general? And I have horribly weird thing about germs anyway, so it takes a lot for me to go down on someone in the first place. So while I know it probably sounds mean to say, the answer is yes. I would have a problem with it.
26. Who gave you your last kiss? Did it mean anything?
Oh gosh, again it’s been SO long... I think it was this girl I tried dating towards the end of 2019? Dear lord, has it been that long?? And at THAT point it had already been about a year and a half since I’d been kissed. I wanted it at the time, but it honestly didn’t mean much and I flailed so hard— I still cringe.
27. Weirdest nickname a significant other has ever called you?
Dude
Kidding!! Uhm probably the name of the girl my then-girlfriend was cheating on me with. Oop
(I’ve been called some unusual nicknames, but the problem is that I’ve liked them all, so they don’t seem weird to me 🙈)
28. Three spots that drive you insane?
The tips of my fingers: Let me play with your fingers and press the tips of mine against your nails, brush your lips over them, guide my fingers softly against your skin and let me feel every dip and bump and scar. For some reason the tips of my fingers always feel hyper sensitive, so that plus the heat or cold or shape of my partner?? Yes please
The palms of my hands: Again, extra sensitive. I’m a very tactile person so really anything with my hands is perfect. But especially when my significant other slides their fingers against my palm before holding my hand during sex god in heaven? Something about that just does it for me
My tummy: I’ve always been super self-conscious of my tummy, so if my partner paid extra attention and lavished me with kisses and licks and bites? Mhm fuck yes. Plus they’re at the perfect angle to twist my fingers into their hair and pull them up or push them down
 29. Do you like it when your sexual partner moans?
Hi, yes?? I am a lesbian. And that means that my sexual partners are women and HAVE YOU EVER HEARD WOMEN MOAN???? Who WOULDN’T like that????
30. Do you have any nude/masturbating pictures/video of yourself?
I— Um.... Not anymore
31. What is one song you’d like to have sex to?
Oh so many. Soooo so many. Anything Stevie Nicks or with that witchy kind of starry vibe. Or anything from my “slow dancing” playlist, a bit more romantic. But also, it doesn’t really matter?? As long as it’s not something super distracting (i.e. something I would want to sing along to or Sesame Street or heavy metal) I don’t mind what music we listen to. That being said, I’ve never actually had sex while music was playing, so.
P.S. this isn’t a super serious one, but McFly has a song called “this song” and one of the lines is “somewhere in the world, someone’s making love to this song right now” so I’ve always kind of wanted to just so I could giggle 🙈
32. Do you like giving head? (why/why not)
I- is this a question lesbians can answer? Am I being an idiot right now?
33. Booty or Boobs?
Both? Both. Both is good. (But honestly it depends on the day and the outfit and usually it’s boobs but sometimes I just-)
34. Is it good sex if you don’t come?
Alright time for me to be a pretentious fuck, but... no 🙈 Or... USUALLY not. I don’t think you all understand how horrifically needy I am skalsjskf Listen- I am MORE than happy to take care of my partner, but unless it’s an extenuating circumstance, I need it to be reciprocated at some point before we stop
35. Have/would you ever have a threesome?
I- hm. No 🙈 I’ve definitely never done it, but I also don’t think I would ever want to? You see, I’m a really needy person and I want 100% of my partner’s attention 100% of the time. But I also want to give my partner my complete attention as well. I won’t say “never”, but I’m going to say probably not (unless Cordelia or Venable or Billie Dean showed up at my door)

i know you wanna talk about the flying opera company give me your thoughts
as if you haven’t heard like half of what I’m gonna say already gndjabdjf
I will Try to make the order of this make sense but no promises
first thing’s first, lek’s death is fake canon. there, I said it
anyway
the flying opera company said found family RIGHTS and I love them for it
at the start with kyoshi and rangi join, they’re not super close with the company and stick with them out of necessity but then they Do become close
after the fight at the end of tsok, they’re all like “we need to see each other more” since the first time they were all together in two years was to fight yun
so they make an effort to spend more time together while balancing kyoshi dealing with Being The Avatar
publicly, they try to not to be considered kyoshi’s Team Avatar to try to give kyoshi some semblance of a decent reputation
the avatar shouldn’t be ~running around with daofei~ after all
though by the time tsok is over, it’s not like it actually matters given that kyoshi already has a negative reputation compared to other avatars (mostly yangchen here tbh)
it’s only really at rangi’s behest that they do this and give up on it
they don’t publicly broadcast it, but if someone was to mention that the avatar was involved with a group of daofei, well so what?
they’re not a 24/7 team but kyoshi will call them all to help on avatar business on occasion, where relevant
she may or may not stretch the definition of “relevant”
some official: do...these people....really need to be here?
kyoshi: yes [insert made up reason]
(the real reason is that she missed them since the last time they saw each other)
--
ok ok so the company, canonically, gives each other shit all the time
like in huijang where they’re telling kyoshi she needs to look tough/threatening “like rangi,” and rangi’s like “this is just my face??”
they’re the epitome of “I can give my family shit but if someone else tries to, I will kick their ass”
speaking of giving each other shit, well that “just two friends having a close, private moment of friendship” scene?
two takeaways:
the first is that kirima indeed finds ways to tease rangi and kyoshi about their relationship (within reason, because if she did it too much then she’d be an actual asshole about it)
her favorite, because it gets a rise out of rangi, is that rangi is shorter than kyoshi (as is the same for,,,most people), and she’ll make jokes about it
even though rangi is still taller than average, I imagine 5’10” or some shit,
(she still radiates “feisty/angry bc I’m close to hell aka short” energy so I’m gonna rationalize that as “it’s from kyoshi’s perspective so that’s how she’s short for this purpose)
[insert something about the height difference]
kirima, to rangi: “lol, shorty”
rangi: “kirima, I’m taller than you”
kirima: “and what about it?”
-
second takeaway: while kyoshi was worried about kirima and the rest of the company’s reaction to her and rangi being together, they were never gonna Care (and they didn’t)
awfully bold of kyoshi to assume that anyone in the flying opera company is a cishet
really, she just has horrible gaydar
absolutely terrible. she looked at kirima, who I think gives off the Most visual signals of queerness, and thought “Yep, that’s A Cishet”
hell, she didn’t even seem to pick up on rangi’s vibes despite being friends for so many years
rangi’s is a little better, which is why when kyoshi looks at her like “should I tell her we’re together now?” she nods because while she hasn’t figured out kirima’s exact vibes, she got Trustworthy And Maybe Queer Too vibes for sure
one time she recounts this to the rest of the company and they LOSE IT
wong, who’s usually a bit more stoic, absolutely busts out laughing
“you thought kirima was a straight woman?? you thought the rest of us were straight, too??”
they’re all surprised at the prospect, because they thought it was obvious enough that they’re all queer
kirima is actually kind of offended. they don’t put out Maximum queer vibes for this shit
this is the part where I insert specific headcanons
kyoshi: bi trans girl, she/her
rangi: gnc lesbian, she/her or he/him but mostly she/her
kirima: nb lesbian, she/her or they/them (the company defaults to they/them most of the time)
lek: trans boy, he/him
wong: cis gay, he/him
lao ge: too old for gender, any pronouns
I could honestly do a whole separate post on gnc rangi, but I’ll just throw in here that kirima helps her a bunch w/self-discovery I think
basically: rangi and kyoshi (esp kyoshi) are a couple of baby gays who joined a group of Elder Gays + lek (a baby trans kid) and didn’t even realize it for a hot second
-
i only have a bit on within-group dynamics but anyhow
kirima and wong are super close, I don’t have have any particular hcs for them except that they vibe well together
kyoshi and lek have a Peak obnoxious/lovingly antagonistic sibling relationship
in trok they don’t start off on good terms but they come to an understanding by the end of it
so instead of “I don’t like you go away” it’s more “I will act like I don’t like you but I actually really Care about you as my sibling”
you know that tweet that’s like “[at my sister’s wedding] wow, there really is someone for everyone”? lek at rangshi’s wedding
oh also, those two have big “this is my get along shirt” energy
wong and rangi are the most Responsible ones and the others are more chaotic (I was about to say kyoshi to a lesser degree than kirima, lek, and lao ge but then I remembered “kyoshi are you eating dirt” and nvm)
their brain cell total as a group is 5. wong has his own, rangi and kyoshi share one (rangi has the brain cell more often), kirima has one, and then they have a shared two
and that’s everything
