A small ficlet of Allura finding out that Shiro is ticklish.
((Ohhh, I will try to keep it small. I can make no promises.))
“He is? Really?”
“Yeah, very. But you gotta catch him by surprise.”
“Hmm, yes, I see. Thank you, Keith.”
“You’re welcome, Princess.”
She tried to sneak up on Shiro on the navdeck. As far as “sneaking” went, it was perfect; he didn’t appear to suspect a thing. But then she realized that she didn’t have a good angle of attack. He was sitting in his chair, which guarded just about all the ticklish areas. And as she stood there trying to figure out how to do this, he realized she was right behind him.
“Can I help you with something, Allura?”
“I was just wondering about the time to our destination.” It was a stupid question, but it was the only one she could come up with on the fly.
“Uh, ETA’s about a varga.”
“Thank you, Shiro.” She waited until she turned away to frown in annoyance. I’ll have to come up with something else.
She sent the mice in on her next tickle mission. They scampered up to Shiro at the dining table and squeaked for his attention. Allura watched from the next room over, using the Castle’s security cams.
“Hey, little guys. What’s up?”
They attacked, leaping for his ribs, but he just pushed his chair back and caught them in his hands and lap. “Hey, whoa now! You have to be careful. We don’t want you getting hurt.” He set them all back gently onto the table. “Allura’d be beside herself if something happened to you.”
They glanced at each other, looked back to Shiro, nodded, and left. Oh well, I suppose it’s not as much fun if I’M not the one to tickle him myself. She made sure the mice were well-rewarded for their attempt and she thanked them for trying.
This was the plan with the highest likelihood of success. But it was also the most difficult.
Shiro was the best of the paladins at sparring with her, and was quite skilled at protecting himself (an ability likely honed in the Galra arenas). Still, just having the excuse to be physical with him helped. She had to just watch for her opening.
Of course, she had to watch for a very unlikely opening while also not leaving herself open and while making sure it didn’t look like she was trying to go for the tickle.
She just badly wanted to hear Shiro laugh. It’d been ages since she last had, and she thought it’d be good for him. And her. And everyone. She wanted to watch him squirm and giggle and shriek; she wanted to know what that would be like from a man who was every inch a leader.
But she got too distracted by her desire to tickle him, too caught up in trying to find that perfect opening. He struck once to back her up, feinted high, then dropped low to tackle her around the waist and take her to the floor. He moved quickly to pin her.
“Yield?” he asked, grinning in triumph. He rarely won sparring sessions, so it was no wonder he was so happy.
She did her best to look totally innocent as she caught her breath. “What was that?” she asked, stalling for time. If she yielded, he’d get up and leave. This is my chance.
He leaned in a little closer. “I asked if you yield, Princess.”
“It... does seem as if you’ve won,” she allowed carefully. She let all the tension go out of her body deliberately. Licking her lips was less deliberate; now that they’d stopped, she realized how dry her mouth was and how much she needed some proper hydration.
“Have I?” he asked. There was a shift in his expression; less victorious and more questioning.
She just nodded, keeping her eyes locked on his, willing him to keep his attention on her face. She didn’t want him to notice she was trying to loosen his grip on her right wrist. Her left was hopeless - his right hand had that pinned, and breaking the grip of the prosthetic was usually a vain pursuit. But if she could just get her right free... I’ll have to move quickly.
Was it her imagination or had he leaned closer to her? “Then tell me,” he said, voice quiet.
“You’ve won, Shiro,” she said, dropping her voice as well out of consideration for how close they were to each other. “I yield.”
His hands started to loosen on her wrists, and she took her chance. Her right hand broke free and flew to his ribs.
Shiro cried out and actually fell off of her, trying to roll away from the tickle onslaught. She pursued him, trying to keep him in place so he couldn’t escape.
“What happened to yielding?!” he yelled before yelping again as she got another good tickle in.
“I yielded only the sparring!”
He laughed breathlessly and tried to catch her hands before she could tickle him further, but she was too fast for him, darting in and out of range and getting in tickles all up and down his sides. “Allura! All... ha... EEP! STOP!”
“DO YOU YIELD?!” She was enjoying herself. He was just as squirmy and silly as she could have hoped.
“I yield, I yield!” He squeaked again and tried to crawl away on his back. “Just stop!”
She sat back so they could both catch their breath.
“W-was this... the plan the whole time?”
She nodded. “And I succeeded.”
He shook his head, pushing himself up into a sitting position. “You’re dangerous, Princess. I’m going to remember that.”
“As well you should.”
“Of course, you realize now I have to find out if you’re ticklish.”
She narrowed her eyes at him. “I welcome you to try, my paladin.”

A budding relationship - Shallura Week Day 2
So thanks to @breezycheezyart I found out that Shallura week had been pushed back, which means I have a chance to maybe make some stuff for this. SO yeah, it was really hard to come up with an idea for this. Hopefully my other stories will be better. Enjoy. @shalluraweek
Wings/Bloom
“Allura could you come pick up these buckets to wash?”
While bleaching and cleaning buckets was never her favourite thing, it was better than going back and forth with the world’s pickiest bride over centre pieces. Tightening her ponytail, she walked over to where her boss stood, empty buckets at his feet.
Mr. Shirogane was in his 70s but was still able to run his flower shop like a tight ship. People came back to him because they knew how good he was at his job. Allura felt lucky enough to be hired by him. She’d been looking for a part time job to fit in between her classes at college and found the ‘help wanted’ sign in the shop window. Her father taught her so much about flowers growing up so when she shared her passion for them with Mr. Shirogane, he brightened and talked to her about them for a full hour before telling her she was hired. While working in a flower shop was nothing like she thought it would be, she loved it. Some tasks more than others but she enjoyed working surrounded by such simple things that could bring people so much joy.
“When you’re done with those, you can head home. We’ll be closing early.”
“Really? How come?”
“My grandson is coming. He’s an airline pilot and he’s plane is coming here. He’ll be off for a few days and I’ll get to see him after so long. I plan on making his favourites for dinner.”
He’d mentioned his grandson a lot. From what she knew, his parents died and he moved in with his grandfather. He tried doing everything himself so he wouldn’t be a bother, even if his grandfather didn’t care. His grandfather eventually brought him to help out at the shop and the hard work seemed to calm him and make him open up to his grandfather. He continued growing, becoming an amazing student and graduated until he reached his dream goal, becoming a pilot. She hoped she’d get to meet him.
As she juggled the backets into the back, she heard the door open then heard, “Takashi!”
“oji-san!”
Allura didn’t speak Japanese but she could hazard a guess as to what was said. She dumped the buckets into the sink and peeked out to the front.
With black and white hair and muscled arms on show under the uniformed jacket of Voltron Airlines, Takashi Shirogane, was really hot. He was tall, much taller than his grandfather, but he kept himself low and the smile on his face told the story of how he’d do this as a kid and he didn’t mind being back in that position again.
“Always had a habit of being early. I haven’t even started dinner yet.”
“Well that works out. I was just flying in from Japan and I brough your favourite yakisoba seasoning mix. I hope that was on the menu.”
“It is now. Ah, Allura, come here.” The old man called, beckoning her over. “Takashi, this is Allura. She’s been helping out since the beginning of this year. Allura, meet the grandson I can never stop talking about, Takashi.”
“Nice to meet you.” Allura said, shaking his hand. She noticed that it was metal. A prosthetic.
“Nice to meet you too. thank you for looking after him. He swears he’s only 40.”
“Well, the times he falls asleep at the register say different.” Allura teased, already dodging Mr. Shirogane’s swipes.
“That’s enough out of you two. Allura you can go home; he can clean the buckets.”
“But I just got here.”
“Shh! I’m your grandfather, I can do what I want.”
Takashi rolled his eyes good naturedly before giving Allura a smile. “I guess I’ll see you around.”
                                                      ___________
She learned that Takashi preferred to be called Shiro and even though he could be doing anything else, he enjoyed working at the flower shop.
“It’s my relaxing spot.” He explained when Allura asked why.
In spending time with him at the shop, she got to know him better. Liked cats but worked from home so often he didn’t feel like it made the most sense to own one. He hated radishes and his grandfather would threaten to make for dinner if he didn’t listen to him. He was really bad at flower arranging but the art of ikebana he was almost as good as his grandfather.
“They’re different.” Was his excuse.
“No, they’re not.”
It led into a long debate that Allura felt she won, but he refused to budge from his stance.
“So why not stay and work here at the flower shop?” she asked one day as Shiro took his turn sweeping up the usual dirt from the past hour.
“My grandfather wanted to go around the world and see all the different flowers but his health wasn’t that great, so I said I’d do it for him.”
He was also a god send for her math homework. It’d been a slow day and she was glaring at the homework she was trying to figure out. He’d been a much better teacher than her actual one.
When it came time for him to head back, he gave her his number.
“For any tutoring help. Or anything else I guess.”
Mr. Shirogane didn’t take long to tell her something once his grandson’s taxi was off and taking him to the airport.
“He asked about you quite a bit. I’m sure he’d enjoying talking to you when you have the chance.”
Why did she get the feeling Mr. Shirogane wanted their relationship to blossom more than they did? Oh well, she tended to listen to him a lot, why stop now?

Voltron Rewritten Defender (1/8)
Also known as My Almost Raging Bitch List for this Goddamn Disastrous Disappointment of a Show
I binged all 8 seasons in under a week, so believe me when I say almost nothing was forgotten between seasons/episodes and I do tend to note that.
If it’s not obvious by the title, I’m planning an entire show AU. I am extremely open to people’s opinions on what I’m currently thinking and when I finally post this I’ll be open to criticism there too. If you would like to avoid seeing anything in regards to this feel free to blacklist #voltron_rewritten_defender because that’s what I’ll be using for this whole thing.
Enjoy, I guess.
Fair warning I am a multishipper, but for this show I leaned towards Klance, so if that bothers you that’s okay, I’m not going to be bashing any other ships (mainly just Dreamworks’ forced Allurance). If you think I missed something for any other ship lemme know! If you wanna have a ship discussion that’s cool too. The only other thing I can think of is that Allura’s attitude in S8 really stuck with me to the point that she bothered me throughout the entire rewatch (I was admittedly one of the people who thought she could be very Mary Sue ish when I first watched this) so that’ll show up now and again.
If you want to look at the Google Doc for the whole show, click the link, if not you can expand this post to see Season 1. I’ll be doing these in chunks, but as some of you know I do a FicRecList on one of my other accounts here @sorcerusdragonbionics so I’m gonna be alternating between that and these for the next couple days.
If you do the Google Route it’ll have you ask me for permission, this is normal and if you request it I’ll give you commenting abilities.

Key
Things I kinda wanna bitch about
Things I did genuinely enjoy and like
Rewatch Thoughts (basically what I remember from further forward and how I feel like it reflects back on earlier seasons)
Ship Talk (behold my multishipping insanity)
Things I think I’ll do in the Rewrite
Writing Notes (mainly for me or as explanation for what I’m planning)
VA and Closed Captioning Things
Other Fic Thoughts
This ended up being music commentary in S8
Season One
Problems with the Season overall:
To be honest if I hated this season I wouldn’t’ve kept watching because by the time I started S3 had just dropped
Episode 1
Here’s the deal, WHY ARE YOU SO LONG BUT SO EMPTY?!?
Yeah, nope, that’s mostly it
Fix the problem of telling instead of showing about the other Lions and remove Allura’s explanation of the Lions if possible (thank you Kross for explaining why it felt so empty- this vid is actually where I started getting the idea to actually go through with a full series AU)
DON'T RUSH THE LION INTROS
Also let the 5 introduce themselves to Allura and Coran
Also Character Drive to Complete Mission Should Be A Thing
Flesh out Paladin Personalities so that the Aris Arrival is End of Part One (making it closer to the length of E1)
Flesh out Lion intros so part 2+3 are more like full Eps without Sendak
Episode 2
75 degrees… that’s definitely in Fahrenheit, which why?
How does no one have a watch with a date on them?
“A man can be driven to do anything if a beautiful woman is just really really mean to him”
More inbetween scenes bc I can
I will accept the transformation sequence here, I’m just not going to write it
Episode 3
Please watch the use of Earth Time Slices please, because it’s confusing
I love the portrayal of PTSD in this show and I would die before I change it
Bye bye transformation sequence
Pidge’s talk with Shiro can please change
Episode 4
“I say Vol, you say Tron” will come up again if it kills me
Lance, how do you know what hotdog water and feet taste like?
I love how Coran is completely nonchalant about the fact that he’s drinking a hair tonic
Shiro, don’t bring down the mood
Goddammit Sendak, you could stay for this arc, but god I want you GONE!
Keith, having an emotion? Really?
The Pidge plot DID NOT NEED TO HAPPEN LIKE THAT!
Fight me I will change it
Or minimally change the fact that their selfish motivations are revealed to BAD and should be changed
Oh yeah, let’s not give the ONE GUY with notable homesickness a character arc around that
That moment when you realize Allura is like ‘wtf is a peanut’
Allura, don’t push it, some people don’t want to talk about it
You will have something to talk about, BIOLOGY
Decryption happens here, and next attempt to find family occurs… when?
Poor Coran, if there is anyone who was more forgotten than Lance it was him
Keith isn’t wrong, but he also doesn’t know how to say it without getting mad, which mood
Just pointing out Lance is not only smart, but selfless, tell me how he’s not the main character
My inner Shance/Klance shipper is sobbing
“Bomb fuel” mentioned here, occurs… actually it’s ok
Timelines need to be a thing!
Can I make the fight scenes more intense? Yes, I write them for my YJ Scripts. Will I? Almost definitely.
Keith with that much fire your mask should be closed because smoke inhalation is bad
Can we explain Vrepit Sa before s6?
It feels like Coran forgets that 10k years have passed under an evil empire and part of me likes it, but it hurts me
Episode 5
The Katie flashback is hurts me
I want to add Gender Identity
Can we talk about how Shiro is a nickname for Takashi Shirogane?
That’s not how an EMP works
The Coran sitting on Hunk’s shoulders with a machine gun is everything
I know the back x-ray was a joke, but I still don’t like it
Rax is an idiot, just saying
Bonding Moment!!!
Episode 6
“Intergalactic time measuring competition.”
“We had a bonding moment!”
Where is Sendak’s arm?
Fight me, Pidge’s ‘gender speech’
It will be a gender speech if it kills me
Lance, why are you acting the way you are?
“I figured” and “We were supposed to think you were a boy” ARE NOT PROPER REACTIONS!
Rolo, sometimes I want to punch you in the teeth
Lance’s boner is going to get someone killed
Lance had 4sec of logic and then Nyma brings up Keith, which ofc does him in
Let’s expand on the Komar, yeah?
Quiznack means fuck and NO ONE can tell me otherwise
Keith’s ability to fly is impressive and it’s awesome
Friendly reminder that Lance acknowledged the bonding moment
Episode 7
I LOVE the laser gun sound effects!!!
I just realized that Allura has no clue what an Acronym is
We… literally just talked about this and YOU didn’t know that Shiro, I understand the point, but seriously?
LIONS are TELEPATHIC Shiro DID NOT need to say that aloud!
I do actually like the fact that Kieth gets excited before realizing what he did
FIRE and ICE PEOPLE come on! What the hell?! You barely had to try
“Yes sir?” Keith to Shiro, what?
I love them and their cute little arguments
Left vs Right, thank you Zamber
We be lovin’ Hunay bc it’s pure as hell
Thank you Shiro for validating Hunk’s concerns
You could check  a little faster, Allura
I LIVE for this scene
Was it actually Rolo?
Do they have teleporters?
Keith being weird is my favorite thing
I love good big bros who argue tradition to save their baby sis
Zarkon is a bit of a moron
THEIR LIVES ARE IN DANGER ALLURA!
They all came through different doors… how?
What if the answer was no?
I’m ok with Lance embarrassing himself when he’s cocky, some people seem to forget that
Bye transformation sequence, I explained you ONCE and that’s it
Prorock… why are you familiar?
Episode 8
I admittedly forgot that they didn’t know these things would be different
Flying fight scenes I can do, teleporting not so much
Poor Shiro he thought he had an idea and he was wrong
I love Coran’s reaction
Also NO SHIT Allura
UHHHH Pidge said that not and of the other three so how did He know?
Allura may piss me off, but I do love this speech
“Your Altean Energy”??? Coran, you’re an Altean, I’m confused.
The “Sacred Altean” thing I get, but you must be more specific cuz it makes Coran sound like he thinks he’s not a proper Altean.
Oof, angsty
Also, I  know we can’t kill Allura yet, but...
I love that Hunk forgot they hadn’t formed Voltron
Bye bye transformation sequence
Ummm, they NEED to explain the Bayard Equip bc that’s… two very different things that occurred between Hunk and Keith’s Bayard Weapons
Why is this a scene? It’s not a dog. So, yeah, I’m with Keith here
Episode 9
THIS IS NOT HEALTHY ALLURA!
I just realized that this doesn’t come back until S..7? 8? Whatever, WAY too long
I can’t unhear “Training Dick”
Did they have homework on Altea?
Be still my Punk shipper heart
WHY is he SO pretty?!
Y’know, the glowing red eye is usually a bad sign
I could SO mean and hurt Keith here
That moment when you’re like 90% sure Shiro heard that somewhere
Not what haunted means Coran, but accurate
Why could Lance see Alfor for a second?
I too would like the answer to “where was the Red Lion?”
PTSD IS AMAZINGLY WRITTEN!
It’s a shame this is NEVER treated properly again
Thank you for NOT making the swimming thing a thing
You didn’t need to TRY Voltron, what the hell?!
Here’s the deal,  Altea not being Obliterated-obliterated is actually a really interesting idea
Lance still wins, for the record
If she was infected in any way this wouldn’t drive me crazier than a bot on Halloween
But she’s not so this is BULL
Shallura confuses me SO much…
Ok, admittedly the scene with Allura and Alfor is beautifully heartbreaking
Episode 10
The fact that Zarkon was a close friend to Alfor should be addressed
Also Shiro calling himself “an inexperienced Pilot” hurts
Allura’s a MORON!
YES! MASSIVE ISSUE WITH YOU COMING
Nice puppetry Hunk
What happened to THIS Allura?! She’s reckless but not INSANE (or so boring I might cry)!
Is this the same Druid from Season 8? Pretty sure it’s 8… I forget which, but the one Keith fought
“Don’t walk through that door!” / Keith does/ “I think I told him” // “You are a paragon of leadership, Lance”
Hehheh I love Hunk teasing Lance about Allura
I do actually the fact that I can’t tell what size the purple container is until Keith grabs it
Heheh the Allura interacting with the Galra soldier
The computer sounds like Lance
Also Shiro had that “holy shit” moment
I HATE WRITING TELELPORTING FIGHTS
I’m 99% sure that the ONLY reason I didn’t fall into the Galra Keith rabbit hole was the fact that I binge watched
This scene confuses me… so much now that I know Shallura was apparently never going to be a thing
So confused
Episode 11
That hair flip though...
Coran, I get it, but calm down
Okay, but Keith has a point. Seriously, he’s not wrong.
For the record, Haggar scares me
So much makes so much more sense now that we know Zarkon is the Original Black Paladin
That… makes no sense… “enough essence to open a wormhole”
Why are you transforming? More pieces to shoot at is usually a smart idea…
Hey hey, THACE!
Why can’t you have two active at once? I’m honestly serious.
I mean too OP, got it, but you can maneuver around that for temporary stuff
Shiro, use your words, yeah?
“Thinking” uh huh you mean “telepathy” right?
I genuinely forgot that Shiro got booted from Black
Damn! Yes Shiro! Kick some ass!
Ok, here’s the deal, Keith’s not listening to Coran, but he doesn’t have all the info (LIKE THE FUCKING BAYARD), Zarkon’s the OG Paladin, and he’s in distress
I HATE TELEPORTERS!
“Could have been” … uh Kuron exists ??
Also, Shiro with yellow eyes is fucking terrifying
We ain’t ficking stupid VLD
Zarkon’s a fucking idiot
Written properly his power-hungry attitude works even with him destroying his own ship
But it wasn’t so it’s null
You aren’t even subtle about Galra Keith
How can Allura see through Illusions?
Nobody knows!
Shiro, you have no jetpack, how are you so fast?
“Who cares, wormhole!” mood
I… uh… I want to do SO many things with this idea
Preferably not what they actually do...

@alteanroyals jadsfhldashfsl i hope you like thiiiiis i couldn’t help but write it and it turned out longer than i thought it would lol (she’s the one that came up with this really good shallura au so all credits of the au go to her!!). To give a little bit of context, Allura has been adopted into the royal Galran family after Altea was destroyed. (wow never thought i could write angst but lotura angst is this character development???)
"Princess Allura?"
The young princess jumped off from her chair and rushed toward the door where the voice was coming from. The announcement of the return of Prince Lotor had reached many ears in the palace. Strangely right after his arrival, he had disappeared soon after. Lotor had slipped away to find the newest member of the royal Galran family.
"Your Highness? Welcome back home. What brings you here?" Prim and poise as ever but her eyes were cold and dull. Undoubtedly under some influence of that wretched witch but in a way it had always been like that ever since he caught her falling out from the cryopod. The thought made him clutch onto the gift tighter behind his back.
Lotor looked away for a brief moment; it was his first time presenting such a simple trinket but the planet he was on didn't have any materials that the Galra considered precious. He was just about to leave until he squinted from the light that was coming from a vendor’s small tent. "Pardon my intrusion princess but I simply wanted to drop by and give you a small surprise."
Right as he said his words, the young prince revealed a beaded necklace. Each bead was a deep purple with dark grey that seemed to swirl in it. The crown jewel was a lighter fuchsia that glint in the light whichever way you looked at. For a cheap trinket it was quite dazzling and to Lotor’s delight, a spark he had never seen before appeared in the eyes of the princess.
He started to chuckle and as if afraid of being caught, Allura’s eyes widened in surprise and even jumped back a bit. “I take it that you like sparkly things?” he teased. Lotor had to bite back a grin when the princess looked away bashfully with a blush blooming on her cheeks. So jewels really were a way into a girl’s heart.
Fixing her composure, Lotor watched with a frown as Allura folded her hands in front of her and looked down. He knew exactly what she was going to say. “I-I suppose so... But don’t you have a meeting with the Emperor soon?”
“Well,” he gently pulled Allura closer to him and began tying on the necklace from behind her, “I just saw something that reminded me of you then I remembered I haven’t given you a welcoming gift. I’m afraid I am a few phoebs late though.” Lotor smiled as he turned around the princess who stared at the jewel in awe then back at him.
What happened next, he could never forget. With a dazzling smile, Allura bowed and left Lotor stunned. “Thank you, Prince Lotor. This is an honor. How can I repay you for this lovely gift?”
“Repay me? It would be nice... Never mind, I must hurry to meet with my father. I will escort you to the dining hall when I am finished.” Before Allura could finish her goodbyes, the door had already shut.
“Farewell... brother.”
Outside the door Lotor let out a sigh. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see one of the druids and gave it a cold glare before starting his way towards where his father was. In these times he felt he was alone but ever since she came... he began to realize things about himself more than anything his Galran tutors could ever teach him. He was also never welcomed back home before.
“It would be nice if you smiled more.”
---------------------
Allura’s heart skipped a beat as her fingers brushed against the prism-shaped earrings. Walking down the hall towards the room, she missed the figure leaning against the wall. Usually with her sharp senses she would have noticed but since her thoughts were so occupied by gentle touches and soft gazes, she was pushed against the wall with two arms either side of her head. “Wha- Prince Lotor, what are you doi-” “Where were you?”
The words were sharp but they didn’t cut her like they used to. Allura wasn’t afraid of the crown prince that was now cornering her, they both fully know that with one throw he could end up in the other end of the hallway but somehow this time she had a feeling he wasn’t going to let her go so easily.
Eyes equally as fierce, she retorted, “Why do you need to know?”
“Answer me!”
It wasn’t really like Lotor to bark at people. He was menacing on his own but he never really had to shout unless he was arguing with his father. His fingers curled in anger as he lowered his head. “You were with that filthy Champion weren’t you...?”
Allura couldn’t bring herself to look anywhere but the ground when she heard that name. Not shame, but if Lotor saw her face...
“WEREN’T YOU?”
She couldn’t utter word and instead her fingers found their way again to her earrings, reminding her of what had just happened earlier before Lotor found her. “Can I not talk to my own subordinates? If you are done, please leave. I have things to discuss with the Emperor.”
As easily as she was cornered, Allura waved away his hands and began her way to the throne room without even glancing back.
He saw that blush before. He saw that smile before. Only the look in her eyes was something he had never seen before. Something that would never be his and instead for a lowly human. Not his. Not him.
Down the hall, a sound of a single pound on the wall and a shout of anger was heard. Then silence.

Good Vibes
Commission for @kriss-the-writing-nerd. Ugh, sorry this took so long. It was a lot of fun to write, though!
Klance/hunay/shallura/krolivan (is that their ship name cause it should be) ahoy. Under a cut for length.
~~
They floated for a long time in front of the glowing, purple light in front of them, lion tails swishing aimlessly in the void of space as they all drifted closer to one another without meaning to.
“What is it?” Pidge finally asked.
Allura shook her head, squinting at the light. “I’m not sure,” she admitted. “I’ve never seen anything like it. Coran?”
Coran shook his head, twisting the corners of his mustache. He had an uneasy look on his face. “Not a wink, Princess. Perhaps Krolia?”
“I’ll wake her up,” Shiro offered, ducking from the cockpit and into the cargo hold, where Krolia had been sleeping off her portion of watch. He returned mere seconds later with the still somewhat sleepy Galra in tow, her gaze alert but her jaw splitting in a yawn. It froze when she saw the light in front of them.
“By Antok,” she muttered, leaning over Keith’s seat and staring in awe at the light. “I haven’t seen one of these in...ages.”
“You know what it is, then?” Coran clarified.
Krolia nodded once. “Yes. It is not harmful to us. You must fly through it.”
Hunk frowned. “Through it? We could just go around it though, right? It ends a couple hundred feet up.”
A smile quirked at the edges of Krolia’s lips. “It seems that way, yes. But this field is impossible to bypass. Frankly I’m amazed you haven’t come across it before.”
“What is it?” Lance asked, lifting an eyebrow.
“The Blades call it “The Light of Peace.” It’s a literal term; when you travel through it, you see what would most bring you complete peace.”
Everyone relaxed. “That’s not bad, then,” Pidge said, a small smile on her face. “I’d...probably see my mom and dad and Matt, right?”
Krolia pressed her lips into a thin line. “Potentially. However, The Light often shows people things that they aren’t expecting. So you may expect your parents or Matt, or perhaps what you really need to feel most at peace is just a long nap. There is no telling what you will see. Any of you.”
“Well...that’s still not a bad thing,” Keith reasoned, shrugging. “We just go through and come out, right?”
Krolia’s nose wrinkled this time. “Yes, but you will all see each other’s needs.”
That made everyone shut up for a moment, and then Romelle spoke, her voice hesitant. “Well if we can’t avoid it...we don’t really have a choice then, do we?”
“Romelle is right,” Shiro agreed, nodding. “We’ll go through. Whatever you see of each other, whatever happens...everyone stays respectful. Krolia, is there any order to whose we see first?”
Krolia tilted her head. “Yes. Generally, whoever is first in the group to enter. You will not see anything until everyone is in the light, though.”
“I’ll go first,” Allura volunteered. Her cheeks were a bit flushed. “I...Coran and myself...I can probably imagine what we will both see.”
She lifted a hand and squeezed Coran’s reassuringly, and then man nodded. Pidge tilted her head. “I’ll go next,” she murmured, glancing towards Kosmo, who had taken to sleeping in her lion, as it was quietest. “Just me and the dog, right?”
They all slowly piped up, verbally drawing straws. Keith, Shiro, and Krolia, being in the largest lion, would bring up the flank so that they could keep an eye out for safety purposes until everyone was in.
Allura’s grip tightened on Blue’s controls and Pidge swerved Green up to drift just behind her. Everyone else fell into line, Hunk after Pidge and Lance and Romelle following.
For a minute or two, everyone was silent. The purple light slid over everyone and, true to Krolia’s word, no one saw anything but the light and each other as they pulled forwards.
The moment Black’s tail curled into the light, however, everyone’s visions went white.
~~
Coran.
A man with dark skin and twinkling silver eyes turned and tucked a flower behind Coran’s ear, his lips curled up in a laugh. A toddler with pointy ears and bright orange hair clung to his hips, trills of “Daddy!” reaching everyone’s ears. Her mouth was wide with a smile, and there were grass stains on her knees.
Another child, slightly older, played in the distance, zooming rocket sounds falling from his mouth as he swerved a miniature Castle of Lions around the heavens. His hair was dark and curly, eyes glistening oceans, and he was wearing a cardboard paladin suit.
They were on Earth, or at least, what looked to be Earth, if Earth were made up of only the tidbits the paladins had given him. They sat in the grass, but an ocean lapped on their left. Clouds drifted through the sky, sprinkling water every so often.
On another rise, in plain view, sat the paladins, laughing and shoving at each other, no longer in uniform. The lions sat behind them, guarding and silent, and chuckled rumbles filtered over the land as Hunk started a food fight.
A hand settled on Coran’s shoulder and he turned, finding a much older man standing there, orange hair grayed to almost silver, hints of the pumpkin color sparkling here and there. The wrinkles around his eyes were kind, and he nodded to the castle ship in the boy’s hand.
“You did well, Coran. I forgive you for blowing up my ship.”
~~
The stabbing feeling in the gut startled everyone as they slipped from the vision, blinking and wide eyed. Everyone instantly turned to the feed from the blue lion, where Allura had twisted back in her seat and was holding Coran’s hand tightly.
The man’s other hand was pressed to his mouth, and they could all see the trembling of his shoulders. Allura’s words were gentle, soft, and no one had time to join in, because the next wave rolled over them.
~~
Allura.
“And here is my favorite juniberry field!” Allura exclaimed, spinning in a circle of flowers.
The paladins watched her in amusement as she took Romelle’s hand and dragged her into the field, her gaze bright. “You have been missing out,” she laughed.
Romelle snorted, looking around the land with awe. “I can see that,” she agreed. “Altea really is quite lovely.”
“Isn’t it? I’m so glad you could all be here to see it,” Allura said, turning to the paladins with a small smile. “I cannot wait to see Earth now that you have gotten to see my home.”
“Allura!”
She turned to find her mother leaning out the door of the palace, waving a hand. “Come along! Your father has prepared dinner for you all!”
“Coming mother!”
Allura skipped over to the paladins, wrapping a tight arm around Pidge and lacing her fingers through Shiro’s human hand with ease. He drew it up to his lips and pressed a quick kiss to her skin.
“Come on!” she said. “My father makes the most amazing Baked Termasin. It is simply to die for.”
Hunk lifted an eyebrow. “Think he’d give me the recipe?”
Allura laughed. “Only if you could actually find Termasin on Earth. It cannot be substituted.”
~~
“We’ll have a moment of reprieve,” Krolia said as the vision faded. “Since there was a gap between the blue lion entering and the green lion. Pidge, be ready at any moment. It will feel very real to you.”
Pidge nodded seriously, but everyone was looking at Allura, who had her face, flaming red, buried in her hands. Shiro shifted awkwardly in the black lion, his cheeks pink. His mouth opened, and then closed, and then Lance spoke.
“We said no judgement,” he said, his voice soft and calm. He looked incredibly at ease with what they had all just seen.
Shiro’s shoulders seemed to relax and he nodded firmly. “Absolutely,” he agreed, tone gentle.
Allura peeked up through her fingers and managed a weak smile.
~~
Pidge
“Come oooonnnn, Pidge,” Matt teased, dragging her by the hand to the convention center. ”Your paladin outfit is totally going to blow the competition away!”
“Matt, I AM a paladin! I can’t just enter the costume contest, that’s cheating!”
“The others are doing it!”
Pidge glanced over his shoulder and snorted at the sight of the other paladins, also dressed in their armor, standing around and chatting while they waited for the siblings. She glanced back at the car and waved at her parents with a roll of her eyes. “If I don’t come back, it’s ‘cause Matt killed me with embarrassment!” she shouted to them.
Sam gave her a very cheeky thumbs up and they sped off before Pidge could protest further. As they got closer, the group noticed her and started calling out, yelling teasing jaunts that spurred her on further.
“Our first Comic Con after we save the freaking planet and I’m an attraction,” Pidge grumbled, crossing her arms. There was no fire to her words, only mirth, and Matt laughed.
His eyes twinkled in the sunlight as he shook his head and shoved her the last few feet to her friends. “Come on, Pidgeon, you’ll have fun.”
“Where are you going?” Pidge demanded.
Matt winked. “Oh come on, you didn’t think I’d come here in jeans, did you? I’ll be right back!”
He jogged off and Shiro shook his head. “He’s definitely dressing up as a rebel from Star Wars.”
Pidge guffawed. “Oh my god, he so is,” she realized.
Lance grinned, cheeky, and slung his arm around Keith’s shoulders. “We should have all brought our own Star Wars costumes just to fuck with him.”
“Language, Lance,” Shiro scolded, though his face quivered with a grin of his own.
Lance stuck his tongue out and Pidge laughed, looking up at the convention center. “I guess if we’re our own attraction, we should probably go inside,” she mused.
“This will either end badly, or we’ll get mobbed,” Hunk said.
“Hunk, neither of those things are good,” Allura pointed out.
“You’re right.”
~~
Kosmo
Keith was smiling.
Hunk squatted next to Kosmo, scratching him behind the ears in the best spot and feeding him something tasty. His tail flipped with excitement.
Keith was smiling more. Hugging Shiro. Hugging Lance. His mom.
Lance was laying against his flank, talking out loud and pointing at the stars. Kosmo couldn’t understand him, much, but he could feel the happiness radiating off the boy.
“What about Kosmo?”
“I like the name Kosmo!”
Kosmo liked the name Kosmo, too. It was a good name.
Pidge put her glasses on his nose. He couldn’t see, but that was okay. She was laughing.
Keith was smiling.
~~
The flash passed, and Pidge turned to look at Kosmo, eyes wide. The dog looked at her expectantly, letting out a soft woof, and she chuckled, reaching out and scratching the dog’s head. “Guess he told you his name, Keith.”
Keith scoffed, though his face was soft. “You guys totally influenced him.”
~~
Hunk
The sun rose over the Balmera with a burst of orange and yellow, and Hunk’s mother gasped in delight, covering her heart with her hands and letting out a soft sigh of delight. Hunk’s father hummed in approval and wrapped his arm around the woman, a smile on his lips.
Hunk grinned at their reaction and turned to Shay with a laugh. “I told you they’d like it.”
Shay smiled, eyes flicking to Hunk’s parents and then back to Hunk, her shoulders shaking with laughter. “Yes, I suppose you did. I am glad they like it. Do you?”
Hunk’s smile softened. “Of course I do, you know I do.”
“And the others?”
They glanced back at the lions, waiting patiently. The other paladins were tiny specks up on the shoulders and maws of their ships, only the colors of their armor differentiating them. Allura and Shiro stood shoulder to shoulder, Pidge seated a bit of a way from them on Green. Kosmo was curled around her hip, and Romelle sat next to them.
Keith and Lance were sitting on Red’s nose, pressed side to side, Lance leaning in close to presumably say something. Coran stood behind them on the top of Red’s head, a respectful amount of space between him and Krolia.
“I think they do, too,” Hunk promised, turning back to the girl.
Shay hummed and leaned against him, her arm curling around his shoulders.
~~
“Hunk, you player!” Lance teased.
Hunk squawked, sinking in his seat. “I thought we said no judgement!”
“We did,” Allura said, glaring at Lance.
Lance lifted his hands, cheeks a bit pink. “Hey man, no judgement. You and Shay? Total couple goals.”
“We’re next,” Romelle noted, her voice soft. “Unless the cow-”
~~
Kaltenecker
Green. So much green. Everywhere.
Pretty flowers. They tasted like honey.
A blur of colors, mice. Running up to her nose.
They squeaked. Happy sounds.
Friends.
~~
Everyone blinked and Hunk snorted, shaking his head. “Figures the cow would have the easiest time being at peace.”
“To be fair, she is in a giant war ship right now,” Pidge pointed out. “I’m sure she wants nothing more than to not be in space.”
“Relatable.”
`~~
Romelle
“Romelle! Mother says it’s time for supper!” Bandor called out from the door of their house.
Romelle turned to Allura and Coran, her eyes twinkling. The wind around them billowed her skirts, lifted her hair around her shoulders. The light drifted across the hills surrounding them, bathing the Alteans in a soft light. “I cannot wait for my father and mother to meet you. Father has always talked of the ancient Alteans with a fondness.”
Coran chuckled, settling a hand on Romelle’s shoulder. “I’m sure I can tell him all about ancient Altea, if he’d like. I have some fantastic stories from my days of youth!”
Allura winced. “Perhaps...perhaps leave those out of your tellings.”
“Why ever would I do that?”
Romelle giggled and took Allura’s hand tugging her towards the hut. ”I’m sure father would love to hear of all the eccentricities you indulged in, Coran. And Allura, my mother is a seamstress. I’m sure she’d love to hear of the royal clothing you wore.”
“Of course,” Allura laughed. “I would very much be happy to describe them to her.”
The grass tickled their feet and ankles as they walked, and, just before they got inside, Romelle turned back. “Will the paladins be joining us?”
“In a matter of time,” Coran said with a nod.
Romelle clasped her hands together, eyes twinkling in delight. “Wonderful! I’ll go tell Bandor to add more place settings!”
~~
Romelle frowned as the light faded, tears streaking her cheeks. “That felt so...short, compared to the others.”
Lance reached over and squeezed her wrist reassuringly. His mouth was set in a thin line as he prepared for his own vision. Krolia spoke up after a moment of silence, answering the implied question. “The less you need to feel peace, the shorter the vision.”
Romelle sighed, looking away, and let her hand slip into Lance’s so that she could return the reassurance.
~~
Lance
Lindy wound her arms tight around Lance’s neck, her pigtails billowing in the wind as they watched the sunrise from the top of Red’s nose. “Uncle Lance?”
“Yeah baby?”
“Can I drive Red someday?”
Lance spluttered a laugh, twisting to plaster a kiss to his niece’s cheek. She squealed in disgust, bouncing away, and Lance kept a careful hand on her hip to keep her from falling off the edge. “You better be able to reach the floor with your feet, first, silly.”
Lindy pouted but accepted the answer, and Lance stood, scooping her into his arms and descending into Red’s cockpit and out of the lion all together. She clung to his jacket, breath warm against Lance’s neck, and when Lance stepped outside he handed her off to his brother. “You’ll be home for lunch?” he asked, shifting Lindy to his hip.
“Absolutely. I’ve got something to do first, though. Mind if I bring some guests?”
“Go for it,” Marco chuckled. “I’m sure Mama is preparing extra in anticipation of that.”
“Thanks, man.”
Marco waved and trudged off with his daughter, leaving Lance to rock on his heels and stick his hands in his pockets, staring out at the surf and at the rising sun. The sky was plastered in vibrant pinks, yellows, and oranges, dusting the clouds with rose gold and looking more like a painting than real life.
“If you stare at the sun too long your eyes will burn.”
Lance snorted and tossed a look at Keith as the young man stepped over, his nose wrinkling as the sand shifted under him. “Shut up, Keith.”
Keith stuck his tongue out and stopped next to Lance, their shoulders bumping. Behind him were Pidge, Hunk, Romelle, and Allura, splashing through the surf with a very wet and slobbery Kosmo, who appeared to love the ocean almost as much as Lance. Krolia and Coran watched from the shore, and Lance could see Shiro sneaking up behind Allura from under the water, a grin on his face.
“You know, Shiro really is just a teenager in an adult body,” Lance mused, watching as Allura was tackled and Shiro immediately got punched in the face.
Keith, also watching the scene, choked on a laugh. “God, you have no idea. You know my hover bike?”
“Yeah?”
“He taught me to ride it.”
Lance nodded, humming. “Ah. That explains...pretty much everything, actually.”
Keith chuckled and looked back to the sunrise. His hand stretched over to Lance’s, and their fingers twined together without hassle, Lance’s thumb rubbing soothing circles over Keith’s knuckles. “Seriously though, you should stop staring at the sun. You’ll go blind.”
“You’re not my mother.”
“Thank god for that,” Keith snickered, pressing a quick kiss to Lance’s cheek.
~~
Dead silence.
Lance was gone from his screen, and so was Romelle, Red seemingly on auto pilot, so everyone instead turned to Keith, whose face was bright pink. Pidge lifted a slow eyebrow. “Okay, uh...?”
“No judgement,” Romelle snapped, appearing on screen again. Her eyes were flashing more violently than anyone had ever seen prior. Her gaze shifted to Keith, and the harshness faded a little. “No judgement.”
Keith swallowed and nodded.
~~
Krolia
“You lived...here?” Kolivan asked, his nose wrinkling as he took in the forlorn shack in front of him.
Krolia, in jeans and a t-shirt, huffed and shoved at his arm, a playful grin on her face. “Shut it! Not like many other people would have taken in a quiznaking alien, and you know it!”
Kolivan rolled his eyes but glanced to her, his smile softening. “I’m glad he did take you in. It was noble of him.”
Krolia grumbled but nodded, ducking her head. “Yes. It was. According to Keith, he was a very noble person.”
“Seems Keith gets it from both sides, then.”
Keith, as if he had been summoned, popped his head from inside the cabin, a grin on his face. “Mom! Kolivan! Come on, you’re going to love this card game! It’s right up your alley! All sarcasm and violence!”
Krolia snorted and shook her head, taking Kolivan’s hand and leading him into the shack, where the paladins and Coran were gathered about the floor, all of them with a set of seven white cards in their hands.
Pidge was leaning over to Coran, Romelle, and Allura, pointing between the white cards and the black cards on the floor and explaining the rules. Lance was attempting to sneak a peek at Keith’s cards, left on the table, but Keith dove in and swatted him off before he could.
Keith scooted over and patted the floor next to him and Krolia smiled, sinking to the ground next to him and tugging Kolivan down with her. Hunk appeared from the kitchen with a massive platter of nachos and settled down next to Allura, handing around the plate as Krolia drew her set of cards.
“All right, explain the rules.”
~~
“Mom, you flirt,” Keith teased, though his cheeks were still pink.
“You know, all I’m getting from all of these visions is that everyone wants something to eat,” Allura laughed.
~~
Shiro
“I’m sorry,” Shiro said, voice soft. “I’m sorry that you...that you had to go through all of this without me.”
Adam sighed and ran a tired hand over his eyes, glasses pushed to his forehead. ”Takashi, I...when I thought you were dead...that was the hardest time of my life. The last three years, knowing you were alive? It gave me some time...gave me some time to think.”
“Me too,” Shiro murmured. He sighed, shoulders slumping, and looked away, rubbing his jaw. “Adam, I don’t...we can’t go back. To where we were. I’ve had a lot of time, most of that time fighting for my life, and I’ve grown.”
“I know,” Adam said. His voice was careful, but his eyes were knowing. “Plus it’s...it’s not me anymore, is it?”
Shiro glanced over his shoulder at the paladins, who were excitedly showing Coran and Allura around the Garrison. Allura looked up mid-laugh, caught him watching, and waved cheerfully. He waved back, tentative, and then turned back to Adam, who was eyeing the interaction with a soft sadness. “It’s not,” Shiro admitted.
Adam took a breath and Shiro reached out, dusting a hand across his cheek. “It was, once,” he promised. “And I know it was for you to me, too. But if you’re telling me that after almost five years without me, you didn’t find someone else?”
Adam’s shoulders dropped and he nodded, slow. Shiro let out a shaky sigh. “Then I hope you’re happy. I am. I want you to be, too.”
“Thank you, Takashi. I am. And I’m glad you are.”
Shiro nodded once, and then pulled Adam in for a tight hug.
~~
Shiro shuddered as the vision left, pressing a hand to his mouth. Krolia’s hand settled on his shoulder and Keith’s on his hand, and the knot in his chest loosened a little.
“I didn’t know you and Officer West were...”
“Your gaydar is seriously broken, Hunk,” Lance grumbled, and everyone jumped, no one having seen him return to his seat.
Hunk huffed and threw his hands up. “Apparently!”
“Last one,” Krolia announced.
~~
Keith
The doors to the castle pool slid open and Keith stepped inside, promptly getting smacked in the face with a beach ball.
“Sorry Keith!” Pidge cackled, racing past him and scooping up the ball before flinging herself back into the pool.
“You’re definitely not!” he snapped back, laughing as he rubbed his head.
“Yo, emo! Come join us!” Lance shouted from the deep end.
Keith flipped him off and dropped his towel on the chair next to his mother, tugging his shirt off and throwing it down as well. ”Sure you don’t want to get in?” he asked.
Krolia lifted a slow eyebrow. “And get tackled by 100 soaking wet pounds of Kosmo? I think not.”
Keith hummed, glancing around the Altean pool for his dog and spotting him paddling next to Hunk. “Understandable. HEY KOSMO!”
The dog woofed and vanished from the pool. Keith side stepped rapidly, running for the pool and flinging himself in just as an outraged Krolia got a face full of wet space wolf. “YOU’RE GROUNDED, YOUNG MAN!”
Keith whooped and hit the water with a flurry of bubbles. It had only taken the simple press of a button to flip the pool around, though Coran and Allura were confused about why they couldn’t all just walk up the walls and get into the pool that way. It took a lot of explaining to convince them that humans could not spider walk up the walls of anything, let alone a slick tiled pool wall.
He popped up next to Lance, giving him a toothy grin, and Lance smirked back, nodding to Coran, floating nearby on a blow-up raft. “Thinking what I’m thinking?”
“We’re gonna get murdered by his mustache?”
“Oh totally.”
“Let’s.”
They dove in sync and swam for the underside of the raft, Lance jerking up with his chin and floating just under it. He held up three fingers, brought them down slowly, and the moment his pointer went down, he and Keith shoved up as hard as they could.
Coran was sent flying into the water with a yelp and Lance and Keith broke through the surface, bumping into one another and laughing as Coran came up, cursing in Altean, his mustache drooping.
“If you die, I’m not saving you!” Allura called out.
Shiro promptly dropped in on her, grabbing her by the shoulders and dunking her underwater. Lance burst into a new set of giggles, grabbing Keith’s hand and paddling them to the edge of the pool tile.
Coran climbed from the water, mustache streaming, and shot them both a glare. “You will NOT hear the end of this,” he growled.
Keith saluted and Lance shot him a set of finger guns before turning back to Keith. “Think he means it?”
Keith snorted and ducked in, pressing a soft kiss to Lance’s lips. “Probably. We’re gonna die tonight.”
“Well shit.”
~~
The field ended, the light fading behind them before the vision was totally gone, and the cockpits of all five lions were silent.
“Okay, my gaydar is SERIOUSLY broken!” Hunk yelped, spinning in his chair.
Lance’s face was bright red, hands covering his eyes, and Keith was a similar mirror image. Allura and Shiro were both blushing, refusing to meet each other's gaze. Krolia coughed.
“That was...certainly a learning experience for all of us,” she managed.
“YOU KISSED ME!” Lance spluttered, whipping up and pointing accusingly at Keith.
“UM, SO DID YOU!?”
“YEAH, BUT MINE WAS ON THE CHEEK!”
“IT STILL COUNTS!”
“Hang on,” Pidge said, interrupting the gay crisis going on in over half the lions. Everyone froze, looking to her, and she frowned, glancing at Allura’s lion. “We saw Kaltenecker’s and Kosmo’s visions. How come we didn’t see the mice?”
Everyone turned their gaze on the mice, standing silently on Allura’s shoulders. “That’s a...good point,” Shiro said, brows furrowing.
Platt squeaked and Allura burst into laughter, shaking her head. “Platt says they’re happy with what they all have. Except they want more food.”
“Apparently we all do,” Pidge said with a snort.
Coran coughed into his fist. “I suggest we set up camp for the night. It seems there are some...things...that some of us need to discuss with each other.”
“Where’s the nearest body of water?” Lance groaned.
“Do NOT.”

Lance loved the feeling of wind hitting his face. He loved the sound of it rushing by his ears as he rode Blue, his horse. He also loved to ride her and when she randomly shook her main, splashing water everywhere. Not many were fond of her, but he and his older sister Allura used their baby faces and puppy eyes on their parents, King Alfor and Queen Laura. They gave in and got him Blue years ago.
Honestly, Lance wanted Blue for all the wrong reasons. He rode her during the night to meet up with his more-than-friend Keith. Lance liked Keith. A lot. Keith didn't know Lance was a royal prince and treated him like a commoner. Lance hated that word. If he was king of Altea, he would spend a lot of his time through the towns, being a normal Altean himself.
He always remembered when he would go out with Coran to the town market. He loved looking at all of the pretty flowers and trinkets people sold. Coran would buy him candy from the shops and made sure Lance hid them well when back at the castle.
Lance pulled on Blue’s reins, stopping her. Keith was already in the clearing they always met up in, leaning against the pod he came in.
“Keith!” Lance waved at him and nearly jumped off Blue. He tied her to a tree where she grazed at the grass. “You're early.”
“Someone has to be.” Keith teased, purple eyes glinting under the moonlight.
“I'm always on time!” Lance protested, mirroring Keith's position.
Keith chuckled and shot out a hand, pulling Lance close. He raked his eyes all over Lance’s face. “You're beautiful, Lance.”
Lance chuckled, cheeks turning pink. “You're a dumbass.” He grabbed the neck of Keith's Galra armor and pulled him in for a kiss.
Keith sighed, arms tightening around Lance. They hadn't seen each other since the night before. The only time they saw one another was during the night in that clearing. Lance had royal duties and Keith spent his day working.
The Altean and Galra race weren't on the best of terms so they had to sneak around. They knew their races were trying to fix the severed bond, but Lance knew he would be dead if they were found out.
Lance pulled back from the kiss, pressing his forehead against Keith's. He ran his fingertips over Keith's fluffy, purple ears; the only indication he was Galra besides the armor.
Keith flinched, his ears being oversensitive. “Lance. Stop it.”
Lance chuckled and kissed him again. “Tell me. How was your day?” He loved listening to Keith speak of his day. He loved the way Keith would talk about work and his friend on Daibazaal. He spoke of Shiro, another human who appeared on the planet one morning and without a second thought, the emperor and empress took him under their wings and made him part of the royal guard.
“He sounds dreamy.” Lance grinned, knowing it would annoy Keith to no end.
Keith was a rather jealous and hot headed Galra. Lance found it amusing whenever Keith’s eyes would narrow to slits like a cat’s when he was jealous or irritated.
Keith scoffed. “He's a big nerd and like seven years older than us.”
Lance raised an eyebrow. “How do you know so much about him?”
“Because I found him by the woods before taking him to the emperor.”
Lance hummed, eyes on the stars. Before talking, they sat down, backs against the pod. Lance loved being this close to Keith. Although, he knew it wouldn't last long. Someday, his parents would decide to marry him off to some unknown princess to rule Altea. Don't get him wrong, Lance liked girls, but right now he preferred Keith over any princess.
“I have to get going.” Keith sighed. “A bit of a trip home.”
Lance frowned. “Alright.” He jumped when Keith pressed a cold hand against his cheek.
“I'll be back tomorrow. I promise.”
Lance smiled softly. “Okay. I'll see you tomorrow.” He kissed Keith, longer than usual, savor in the moment and watched as the Galra got into the pod and flew off. He sighed and rode Blue back to the castle.
Lance had a very odd feeling that he would never see Keith again.
Four years later
Lance was awoken by Hunk and Pidge, the engineers who kept the castle running. He groaned loudly. “Leave me alone.”
“Hey, man. We’re not here to bother you.” Hunk said. “But your dad is looking for you.”
“Apparently there’s a big announcement and you need to be present there. Like now.” Pidge added, fixing her glasses.
Lance groaned again but eventually got up from bed and got ready. It was important, so he got dressed in his best clothing and jewelry. He joined his parents at the dining hall, kissing his mother on the cheek and squeezing Allura’s shoulder before sitting down.
“Pidge and Hunk said there’s an announcement?” He asked and thanked the server that placed a plate of goo in front of him.
“Yes.” King Alfor spoke. “Allura is marrying Yorak, Prince of Daibazaal.”
Lance had to hold back a snort. “Yorak?”
“Lanzo.” His mother warned.
Lance hated his birth name. Lanzo sounded weird and he wished he could change it to the nickname Allura gave him when they were younger: Lance. Sadly, his father said no. Only his mother called him Lanzo and was used for royal purposes only. He didn't mind it from his mother. He was a total mama’s boy. (He didn't care what Pidge thought.)
“It will be announced today after lunch time. They will visit tomorrow.”
Lance looked at Allura who had on a brave face, but Lance could see she wasn't ready or didn't wish to be married.
“Lura?”
Allura’s eyes fell on Lance. “I'm fine, Lance.” She turned to their father and nodded.
They finished their breakfast in silence. Lance wanted to comfort Allura, but she was hard headed and would prove to their parents she would do anything for the kingdom. Even if it meant marrying a prince she had never met before.
The announcement was made, and the town went ballistic.
Lance escaped that night to the clearing. Except this time, he took Allura with him. They were sitting down, Allura with her head on Lance’s shoulder.
“I can't believe I'm to be married off to someone I don't know.” Allura sighed. “I try to be okay with this, but I'm not. I wish father didn't have to do this.”
Lance scoffed. “Whenever you tell him something, he does the opposite, Lura. He shouldn't have you fixing this. It was his fault!”
“Lance, please. Yelling will not fix anything. And I know we shouldn't have to fix his mistakes, but sometimes there is no other way.”
The prince huffed and stood up to shake off the anger. He kicked a lone pebble and watched it skitter along the ground.
“I heard you come here when you're upset.”
Lance turned to his sister. She had a knowing look in her eyes. “Yeah. I used to come here to meet with a friend.”
“Keith, right? Pidge told me about him.”
Lance sat again. “Yeah. We were more than friends actually. Lovers, I guess. But one night, he left and he never came back. I gave up a year later. He was a farmer from Daibazaal.”
Allura gasped. “A Galra? Lance!”
“I know! He was nice. He made me happy , Lura. He didn't know I’m a royal so I know he wasn't after anything. He just… liked me. I knew it wasn't going to last long, but I didn't know it would be so short either.”
“I understand, Lance. It's getting late. We should get back.”
Lance couldn't sleep that night. He was thinking about Keith. It had been a long time since he had spoken about him and it didn't hurt as much. He wouldn't lie and say it didn't, just not as much as before.
Keith leaving and never returning hit Lance like a freight train. He didn't know what happened to him, if he was dead or alive. Lance liked to think Keith was very much alive, just busy with working as a farmer or that he wasn't allowed to leave again during the night. Anything but dead.
He tossed and turned all night long. In the end, he stood and made his way to Allura’s room. He opened the door quietly and saw her asleep. He walked in and tapped her shoulder.
“Lance?” She rubbed her eye sleepily.
“Can I sleep here, Lulu?”
She smiled. “You really can’t sleep, huh?”
Whenever Lance wanted something from Allura, he would call her Lulu. When he was little he called her that because - to him - her name was very complicated. As they got older, Lance switched to Lura for everyday purposes and only used Lulu when he really wanted something. Slap on the puppy eyes and Allura was a sucker for her little brother.
Allura made space for Lance on the bed, holding his hand in comfort.
“Remember when you used to come in almost every night? You were so scared of sleeping alone.”
Lance pouted. “It was a big room, okay? I was lonely.”
Allura chuckled, stroking Lance’s hair. “We should sleep, it'll be a long day tomorrow.”
Lance frowned at the sadness in his sister's eyes. He opened his arms and she fell into them. “I don't want to do this, Lance. I love someone else.”
Lance’s interest piqued. “Who is it?”
“The prince's guard. I've met him many times before but we both knew it wouldn't work so we left it at nothing. It's been a very long time since I last saw him.”
The prince frowned, knowing what his sister felt. They were silent after that, not wanting to delve deeper into their feelings. Allura fell asleep first, Lance looking out the window. He fell asleep near dawn, his mind not settling after watching the sky turn into a navy color.
He woke up, rather grumpily, and went to his room. The shadow under his eyes were horrible and his face looked dull. Nothing a little magic couldn’t do. Not even five seconds later, Lance’s face was back to normal. Not a single trace of five o’clock shadow nor dullness.
He bathed, got dressed and walked to the dining hall where his family was waiting for him. “I apologize for being late. I didn’t sleep much last night.”
His mother frowned. “Are you alright, Lanzo?”
“I’m alright, mother. No need to worry.”
Breakfast came and went; Lance’s mind was elsewhere. He would see Keith’s race once again. Of course, Keith wasn't full Galra yet, but he would be during time. Lance wondered if Keith had already turned.
The royals were in the throne room, waiting for the Galra to arrive. Lance was slumped in his seat, not entirely enthusiastic about the situation. His mother glanced at him and he straightened up with a sigh.
The doors opened and Lance watched as the Galra’s entered. His eyes fell on the prince’s guard. He knew why Allura liked him. He was attractive, just not Lance’s type. He glanced at Allura who had her eyes set on the prince. The visitors bowed as King Alfor stood.
Lance tuned out what his father was saying, opting to watch the prince. He had something familiar, but Lance couldn't say what it was exactly. His ears? Face? He didn’t know.
“Thank you for having us.” Prince Yorak spoke.
A shiver went down Lance’s spine. It was deep and velvety, and it made their hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. The prince’s eyes fell on him and they flashed an emotion so fast Lance couldn't tell what it was. Twice it happened, and it irked him.
After proper introductions were made, Allura walked to the garden with the prince and their guards. Lance was left in the throne room bored out of his mind. He decided to find Hunk and Pidge and bother them. He found them in a boiler room, updating something.
“Hey, guys!”
“Lance. What are you doing here?” Hunk asked, more curious than anything. “We thought you would be nagging the prince.”
Lance rolled his eyes. “I can't. This is more business than pleasure. Which is stupid.”
Pidge was promptly ignoring both of them
“Well, Alteans and the Galra have a rather, you know, bad relationship.” Hunk shrugged, turning back to his work, but still listening to Lance.
Lance scoffed. “We're fixing father’s mistakes and Prince Yorak is fixing Zarkon’s mistakes. It's ridiculous.”
“What happened to Zarkon again?”
“Basically, the prince’s mom killed him and became queen.” Lance shrugged and leaned over Pidge’s head to see what she was up to. “I thought that's pretty brutal and cool but dangerous. Anyone could become emperor or empress and basically take Daibazaal to ruins. Almost like Zarkon did.”
“But thanks to your dad it didn't happen.” Hunk pointed out.
“Yeah, but then Lotor came after us and almost killed us all.”
“But he didn't.”
“Thanks to Lura. She kicked his butt.”
“Lanzo!”
Lance frowned. “I'll see you guys later.”
“Later, Lance!”
Lance almost bumped into his mother as he walked out of the boiler room. She was with the prince and a few guards. Lance bowed his head at the prince and turned to his mother.
“Please show Yorak to his room. Your father needs me.”
“Of course.” Lance kissed his mother’s cheek and turned to Prince Yorak who was staring at him with a calculating look. “Please, follow me.” He started to walk towards the rooms. “Shiro, you can stay here.”
The prince’s guard looked confused. “How do you know my name?”
Lance’s ears turned pink. “I had a good friend who spoke of you.”
Shiro still look confused but nodded. Lance continued walking until he reached the next door. “This is your room.” He opened the door and motioned for Prince Yorak to walk in. “If you need anything, you can press this,” he gestured to a button on the wall, “and someone will come and assist you.”
“Thank you, Lance.”
Lance froze but turned towards the prince with a scowl. “Only my family and friends call me that. I ask of you to not be so familiar.” He walked out of the room and went to the garden where he sat with a sigh. “Stupid, prince. Acting so familiar with me.”
“Lance? Are you okay?” Allura sat next to him.
“Tell that little prince not to be so familiar with me. I mean, I already did but a friendly remind would be nice.” He crossed his arms annoyed.
Allura chuckled. “You never change, do you?” She grinned.
The two siblings spent some time in the garden. Allura talked about Prince Yorak and how nice he was being. How he was also scared of being married off to someone he had no connection with. She also told him how she was to visit Daibazaal in a few quintent. Lance wasn't too happy about that. Allura was to live in Daibazaal for the rest of her days, missing home while Lance would live them in Altea with his future queen. Altea was their home, but Lance wanted to explore other planets. He wanted an adventure like the one’s Coran told him of before he became the King's advisor.
A guard came to tell them they were to get ready for dinner. They went their own ways when reaching the rooms. Lance wasn't too enthused about dinner. He felt like something was going to happen, and when he felt that, it usually did. Usually that same day or a few days after.
When arriving at the dining hall, the Galran prince was talking with his father. Lance payed them little to no attention as he sat down. Allura and their mother came in soon after. Lance picked at his food as Yorak spoke of Daibazaal. He felt like the prince as forcing himself to speak so formally and be civil.
After dinner, they stayed at the table talking. Lance, usually a chatterbox, was quiet. Allura was the first to notice. She nudged her foot against his, clearly asking what was wrong. He nudged it back and smiled. They both knew it was forced.
Lance excused himself from their chit chat. He was tired and wanted to change into his sleeping clothes and sleep until the next morning. He bid everyone good night and went to his room. Just as he settled in bed, there was a knock on his door. He scowled because “can't I have a moment of peace.”
“Come in.” The door opened, and Lance was confused as to why Yorak was in his room. “What are you doing here?”
“Can we talk for a moment?”
Lance raised an eyebrow. “I guess.”
The door hissed closed behind Yorak. Lance watched as the Galran walked closer, eyes scanning the room. The other prince cleared his throat before speaking. “So, uh, Princess Allura told me about you.”
Lance was very skeptical but invited him to sit on the edge of the bed.
“I know who you are, and you know who I am.”
The Altean Prince was confused. “Yes. You're Yorak. Prince of Daibazaal.”
Yorak shook his head. “No. That's not what I meant. It's me. Keith. I - I am the Galra who you used to meet up with.”
Lance blinked at Yorak before his face turned into a scowl. “Get out.” He sneered. “Don't you ever mention his name ever again!” He stood from the bed and opened the door. “Get out. Now.”
Lance didn't look at the prince. He was pissed. How dare he mention Keith’s name. And pretending to be him. Ha! His Keith would never disappear and come back as a prince.
He was left alone in the room, blood rushing in his ears. He curled up in his bed, knees pressed close to his chest. He reached for his communication device - dubbed a phone by Pidge - and stared at the one picture he had with Keith.
Lance was grinning widely, hands in a peace sign while Keith had the tiniest of smiles on his face, arm around Lance’s waist.
Lance chucked it to the side, tears down his cheeks.
The night, Lance’s dreams were memories of him and Keith. When they first met by accident in the clearing. Lance was ready to fight Keith, taking out his bayard without a thought. It wasn't until Keith raised his arms, eyes filled with terror that Lance out it away.
He dreamt of the day when Keith confessed to liking him and Lance threw himself at him, laughing brightly. It was one of the happiest memories he had of Keith. Their first kiss was nothing like Lance would have imagined. He was telling Keith that what would happen if they were caught. They both would be killed or kicked out of their homes. Keith had pulled him in, hand on Lance’s shirt, and kissed him without a thought. Lance had gone completely still, eyes wide as saucepans, before relaxing because Keith was kissing him. Lance had tangled his hands in Keith's hair, pressing their bodies together.
The dazed look in Keith's eyes was one he'd never forget.
He also dreamt of the time Keith had met Blue. The horse had taken a liking to Keith, nearly soaking him with a shake of her mane. Lance had grinned wide as Keith looked at Blue in pure shock.
The dream changed. It was the last day Lance had seen Keith.
Lance woke up with a gasp. His other recoiled at her son’s reaction.
“Lanzo? Are you alright, son?” She asked worriedly, pressing a hand on his sweaty forehead.
“I'm okay, mother.” He sighed, rubbing his eyes.
Laura was still watching him closely. He felt her eyes on him as he looked through his closet for training gear. “Yes, mother?”
“Who is Keith?”
Lance felt himself tense. “No one.”
Laura sighed and walked towards him. “Lanzo. You know you can tell me anything, right?”
Lance didn't meet her eyes. “He's no one. Don't worry about it.” He shrugged her hand off and went to change. “I'm not hungry. I'll be in the training deck.”
Lance didn't stay to listen to what his mother had to say. He went to the training deck, bayard in hand. It turned into an Altean sword.
“Begin training sequence.”
Lance didn't know how long he aimed for. He felt like he couldn't burn off enough energy to exhaust himself.
“Level eight complete.”
Lance wiped his sweaty forehead, standing in position for the next round. Nine droids appeared. He smiled wickedly to himself as he droids ran towards him.
He was graceful as he blocked, slashed, parried and side stepped. Lance had done it a million times before. With a yell, he slashed the last droid. He was breathing heavily as the speakers boomed. “Level nine complete.”
Lance turned to the door when he heard clapping. Prince Yorak looked impressed a he walked in.
“What are you doing here?” Lance scowled, chest heaving.
“Allura is busy. The King and Queen gave me permission to explore the castle.” Yorak shrugged, leaning against the wall with arms crossed.
Lance’s breath hitched. Everything this prince did was so familiar it hurt and made his heart feel heavy in his chest. He gave the prince his back.
“Begin level ten.” He wasn't going to let the prince interrupt him.
Lance reached level 15 without a hitch. This was the furthest he'd gotten by himself. He grunted as he fell on his back. He blocked the droid’s attack, arms shaking with exhaustion. His eyes widened as another droid jumped over the other and was coming right to his face. He managed to kick the droid above him off and roll away.
“End training sequence!”
The droid's shut down as Lance coughed, inhaling as much air as his lungs permitted. A pair of hands helped him get on his knees and straighten his back.
“Hands behind your head.”
Lance did as told and felt air reach his lungs easily. Once his breath was back to normal, he felt his stomach rumbled. He glared at Yorak who was snickering.
“You should eat something.”
Yorak helped Lance stand and hand Lance his bayard.
“Hey, Ke-” Shiro had walked into the training deck. He bowed his head at Lance before turning to Yorak. “Your mother expects you to call tonight.”
Lance raised an eyebrow at Shiro, noticing the slip-up. He decided to ignore it and instead went to the kitchen where he had a proper amount of goo.
“Hey, man!” Hunk had just entered the kitchen, Pidge in tow. “You look horrible.”
Lance frowned. “Do I look that bad?”
Pidge sighed. “How long did you train for?”
“Fifteen rounds.” The prince mumbled.
Hunk and Pidge exchanged a worried look. “You haven't trained for that long since Keith.” Pidge pointed out.
Lance sighed, long and heavy. “I just… dreamed of him last night. They were… memories, actually.” He tugged in the sleeves of his sweaty shirt. “I hadn't had those in years.”
Hunk squeezed his shoulder reassuringly. “You'll see him again, dude.”
“Hunk, don't fill his head with false hope.” Pidge scolded. “It's been four years.”
“Pidge is right.” Lance rubbed his arm, eyes on his empty plate. “He would have come back already.”
The three friends were silent. Lance was brooding while he tried to comfort him by rubbing his back.
“I need a shower.” Lance stood and went to shower. After, he filled the tub and stayed in it until the water was lukewarm, bubbled nearly gone.
“Lance?”
Allura.
“Bath.”
Allura walked in looking worried. “Hunk and Pidge told me what happened.”
Lance pulled his knees closer to his chest, suddenly, feeling vulnerable.
She sat on the edge of the tub. Lance placed his head on the side of her thigh, eyes closed. He liked the sibling bond he had with Allura. They trusted each other with things they wouldn't with another person.
“I met with Shiro last night.”
Lance wanted to be shocked, he did, but it was obvious they we going to at some point. He would have done the same thing.
“We spoke of what happened. Of why we couldn't anymore. I already knew, but it didn't hurt any less.” Allura sighed, hand in Lance’s hair. “I still love him, Lance. I just don't know how to tell mother and father.”
“I know how you feel, Lulu.”
Allura left the bathroom to let Lance get dressed. He didn't go to dinner, opting to hang out with Hunk and Pidge. He rode Blue to the clearing around midnight. He wanted to get away from the castle for a bit.
He pulled on Blue’s reins, stopping abruptly. Prince Yorak was sitting on the ground, head tilted toward the sky. Lance saw his ear flicker, he knew Lance was there.
The Altean urged Blue closer. “What a you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same.”
Lance frowned, mounting Blue. The horse purposely shook her mane, purposely getting Yorak wet.
“Blue!”
Lance was confused. “How do you know her name? Who are you?!” He had his bayard in hand, transforming into his long-range sniper.
The Galran Prince shot his hands up. “If you put that away, I'll explain.”
Lance’s bayard went back to normal but he was still wary. He sat in front of Blue, a good five feet away from Yorak. That’s such a stupid name.
“This feels like a very bad déjà vu.”
“Excuse you? From what I know, this never happened.” Lance crossed his arms.
“It did actually. Five years ago, right on this clearing. You threatened me with your bayard, except it wasn't a sniper.”
Lance blushed, looking away. He was one of the few Altean’s whose bayard could turn into three different weapons.
“It was an Altean sword that time. I was scared so I told you I was only a farmer in Daibazaal and told you my nickname dad gave me: Keith. I couldn't tell a complete stranger I was the prince of Daibazaal. And you did the same. Although the I saw straight through your lie. Only royals have white hair, Lance. Blue did the same thing when she first saw me. I'm not sure if she liked me or not.” Yorak chuckled, shaking his head.
“I remember I kissed you first because you were scared and insecure and wouldn't shut up. We were nothing official because we both knew it wouldn't work out.”
“Why didn't you come back?” Lance whispered, hands clenched.
“My mother caught me. She made sure I never left during the night. She lost trust in Shiro because he hadn't noticed I was gone. He was the one who helped me sneak around. That's when he would meet up with Allura.
Lance blinked. “It's really you.” Tears blurred his vision I as he scrambled to close the distance between them. He clutched the back of Keith's under armor, sobs racking his boat.
Keith cringed to him, head buried in Lance’s neck. “I missed you, Lance.”
“I missed you, too.” Lance hiccupped. He let out a watery chuckled as he wiped his eyes. “I can't believe I actually fell for the prince of an enemy planet.”
Keith snickered. “So, did I.” He brushed a strand of Lance’s hair away from the Altean’s face. “You're still as beautiful.”
Lance smiled and brought kiss closer for a kiss that was long overdue. He had his arms wrapped around Keith tightly, afraid he would disappear. Lance pulled away when a rather unpleasant thought crossed his mind. “You're marrying Allura.”
“I wish I wasn't.” Keith frowned as fresh tears pooled in Lance’s blue eyes. “I'm so sorry, Lance. Is there anything we can discuss? Convince our parents?”
Lance shook his head. “It's the first born. Those are the rules.”
Keith sighed, pressing their foreheads together. “Can we meet again tomorrow?”
Lance nodded. “We have a lot to catch up on.”
Keith grinned and kissed Lance again. On their way back to the castle, Keith went ahead as Lance had to put Blue in her stabled. Once she was felt inside, she snuck through the castle and to his room.
His heart wasn't so heavy anymore.
Lance was in the training deck again. He needed a distraction from Keith. He was looking extra fine that day. His mullet was tied up in a tiny bun and his armor was extra tight. It was driving him crazy.
The door to the training deck opened and in walked Keith, Allura and Shiro.
“Lance!” His sister beamed. “I didn’t know you were here. We thought we could all train.”
“End training sequence!” Lance turned to his sister, eyes trailing to Keith for a second then back to her. “Alright. I have no problems with that. What level? I got to fifteen by myself, so I think a level higher would be alright.”
“I’m fine with that.” Keith shrugged.
“Yeah, me too.” Shiro agreed.
It was weird to have someone who was not Altean or Galra around.
Lance went to the control panel and set the level to 15. All four of them got into position, swords out. Except Shiro. His weapon was his right arm which was made out of Galra tech. Lance thought it was badass.
Fifteen droids appeared, and the timer went off. It felt like the four of them had been training together for years. They knew when to do the right thing at the right time. Lance was switching between his weapons as the levels increased. He wanted to train with all three and this was the right time. He was with his sniper, aiming and shooting when Keith jumped over his crouched position to get a Druid sneaking up on Lance.
Lance switched to his sword, wanted to be in close range action.
They reached level 37.
They were breathing heavily as they lied on the floor.
“That’s the furthest we’ve gotten.” Allura told Lance as she tucked a stray hair away.
“I know. We had these two to help.” He motioned to Keith and Shiro who were talking to themselves. “I’m proud of us, Lura.”
“I am too, Lance.” She smiled at her brother before her attention landed on Shiro who handed them water.
Keith plopped next to Lance with a huff. “I hadn’t trained like that in a while.”
“Well, you can come by anytime.” Allura smiled.
“Jeez, Lura. There’s no need to be so formal. Mom and dad aren’t here.” Lance rolled his eyes, mouth around the straw of the water pouch.
“If they hear you calling them that, they’ll throw a fit.” She chuckled.
“Are they really this strict, princess?” Shiro asked, genuinely curious.
“Sometimes. Mostly when there are others from other planets. We’re usually very relaxed and friendly towards each other.”
Keith and Lance exchanged a glance. Shiro and Allura were being too obvious. They were expressing their feelings with their eyes and they were going to get caught. It wouldn’t be pretty. For any of them.
“Father said the wedding would be in 10 quintents.”
Lance’s eyes widened. “But that's so soon!” Panic was starting to crawl up his throat. Ten days wasn't enough. Seven of those days would be spent in Daibazaal where Keith was unreachable to Lance. With Keith over there, Lance was a sitting duck. A sitting duck that would be heartbroken and marrying someone he doesn't love.
Allura sighed. “I know. But we have to.”
“I wish my parents we so strict. I could be emperor by myself.” Keith frowned, ears flat against his head.
The silent that fell upon them was awkward and tense. Lance was avoiding eye contact with everyone, fingers playing the hem of his shirt.
“So, Lance.” Shiro spoke, making them jump a little. “Allura told me you’re quite the warrior.”
Lance preened. “They don't call me sharpshooter for nothing.”
Allura laughed. “No one but you call yourself that, Lance.”
Lance pouted. “You're supposed to agree with me, Lura.”
“Sorry, Lance.” She grinned, patting his knee.
“I think you're a pretty cool shooter.” Keith shrugged so nonchalantly it hurt how much Lance missed it.
“Thank you, Keith.”
“Keith?”
Lance’s eyes widened before Keith stepped in. “I asked him to call me that. It helps with trust. You can call me that, too, Allura. If you’d like.”
Keith saved Lance’s ass. Literally.
“But, that's so different from your actual name.” Allura point out.
“My dad wanted to call me Keith but since it was ‘too human’ for a Galra, my mom picked Yorak.” Keith explained.
Lance snickered. “Yorak. That's one funny name.”
“Okay, Lanzo.”
Lance glared at Keith. If looks could kill, he would be dead. Or floating in space wishing he was dead.
“You two are oddly close.” Shiro raised an amused eyebrow.
“We spoke for a while yesterday.” Lance shrugged. “He's not that great.”
“What? ” Keith looked flabbergasted.
Lance shrugged again before standing. He stretched his arms as he spoke, “I'm in need of a shower and a food facial. See you guys later.” He patted Allura’s head and flicked Keith's ear, snickering as the latter yelped.
Lance looked horrible. He hadn't noticed the shadow under his eyes and the hollowness of his cheeks. After a hot shower and even hotter bath, he stood in the mirror and worked his magic until his skin was radiant once again. He loved his magic. Before he was 18, he had to do countless facials and wear face masks for it to be normal. But now? All he needed was some Altean juice and done. He was as good looking as always.
There was a knock on his door. He turned in his chair hands on the back as he told whoever it was that it was open. He perked up when Keith walked in, looking freshly showered and…
“Did you shave?”
Keith's eyebrows furrowed. “What do you mean?” He walked towards Lance.
“You had stubble earlier.” Lance ran his fingertips over Keith's chin, feeling how soft it was.
“I can't go around looking like a furry, Lance.”
Lance let out a guffaw. “You already are one.”
“Oh, shut up.” Keith pressed his lips against Lance’s. The kiss was brief and chaste. Anyone could walk in at any moment. Especially Allura.
The Altean had a dopey smile when Keith pulled away. He watched as the Galra Prince looked around the room. “What are these about?”
Lance stood from his chair and went towards Keith. “Those are books on Altean alchemy. Dad is an amazing alchemist and I plan to take in his footsteps someday.”
Keith hummed as he flipped through the pages. “This is great, Lance. I think it's nice you're taking after your father.”
Lance smiled softly, resting his head on Keith’s shoulder. “I wish we didn't have to sneak around.”
“I wish the same.”
They looked at each other for a brief moment before their lips were pressed together. Lance kissed Keith desperately, clutching onto his armor while Keith had his hands in Lance’s hair. Hands were roaming everywhere, breath coming out in short puffs.
“Wait. Wait, wait wait.” Lance breathed out. “We can't, Keith. I wish we could.  But we’ll both be in trouble if we get caught.”
Keith sighed, head in Lance’s neck. “I know. It's unfair.”
“I agree.”
“I… I want to tell Lura.”
Keith's head shot up. “Are you crazy?! She'll tell your parents and we'll be screwed.”
“I know that. But I just can't stand by and watch my sister marry you!”
Keith rubbed his forehead, purple eyes on blue. “Alright. Fine. Only because Shiro’s, like, in love with her or whatever. Just, take your time and make sure no one else can hear you.”
Lance grinned. “I'll promise you that.”
During the evening, Lance was pacing his room. He was ready to tell Allura, but he wasn't sure when was the right time. He knew in his gut that she would understand, but it was scary. Allura was a little unpredictable sometimes, yet Lance thought she would be okay. She loved Shiro either way, right?
With a very deep breath, Lance walked towards her room, determined to tell her. He knocked on the door and heard her telling him to walk in. When he did, his resolve died. He didn't know what to tell her. He had forgotten everything he practiced in the mirror. Instead, he was ready to start crying. Allura was in front of her mirror, the wedding gown on. She was trying it on for the first time, Laura beaming at her.
“You look beautiful, Allura.”
“Thank you, mother. It's beautiful.”
Lance swallowed the lump in his throat because it was real. The wedding was going to happen in ten quintent and he was going to be left heartbroken.
“Are you alright, Lance?”
He snapped his gaze to Allura’s face. She was looking worried.
“Yeah.” He cleared his throat. “I'll come by later.” He turned on his spot and nearly made a dash to his room. When the door was closed, he flopped on his bed, face buried in his pillow. He wanted to scream, kick something, yell at someone. But all he could do was cry. Cry because Allura was marrying the man of his dreams. Cry because his sister would never be happy. Cry because all four of them would never be truly happy with whoever the end up with. Cry because Shiro would have to live with that for the rest of his days as a royal guard. Lance cried because what would be his little nieces and nephews could be his children.
He fell asleep, cheeks tear stained.
“Lance. Lance. Lance!”
“Wha.” Lance sat up in bed, rubbing his eyes. He opened one and saw Allura looking worriedly. “Lura? What are you doing here?”
“I need to talk to you.” She sat on the bed, hands intertwined. “It’s about what happened when you walked in. Are you alright? Your… reaction wasn’t one I was expecting.”
Lance blinked back his tears, looking down at his lap. “I was just shocked. You looked beautiful, Lulu.” He felt her gaze on him, unwavering.
“Is there something you aren’t telling me? You know you can trust me.”
“I’m in love him with, Lura.” Lance’s cheeks were wet his tears, sobs racking his shoulders.
“Lance. What are you-“
“He’s the Keith I met up with.” He stuttered between sobs. “He’s the Galra, Lura.”
Allura gasped. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t know until a few days later. He came up to me and tried to explain, but I didn’t listen. It wasn’t until I went to the clearing with Blue that I found him there. He told me things no one else would know. He even knew Blue’s name. Keith’s the only one that knew.” He had pulled his knees to his chest, shielding himself.
Allura threw her arms around Lance, squeezing the life out of him. “I’m so sorry, Lance. I should have known.”
Lance rested his head on Allura’s shoulder. “It’s okay. I never knew his real name. He didn’t know mine either.”
“We have to tell mother and father.”
“No.” It came out a lot harsher than intended. “No. We can’t, Lura. It’ll all crumble to pieces. I know you love Shiro but marrying Keith will give you the opportunity of being able to see him.”
“I will not have you unhappy. Not like this.”
“There’s nothing we can do, Allura.” The use of her full name tastes weird in his mouth. He needed to get his point across and that was the only way she would know he was serious. “There isn’t.”
“Fine. If that’s what you wish.” Allura stood from the bed and walked out, leaving Lance to curl up in his bed and stay awake until dawn.
“Lance!”
The prince jumped, hand on his chest as he turned. Keith was walking hurriedly towards him.
“Did you tell her?”
Lance turned away, shrinking in on himself. “I-“
“Shh! Listen!” Keith whispered, placing a hand over Lance’s mouth.
Lance was confused. He didn’t hear anything, but something was going on by the way Keith’s ears flickered. The Galra’s eyes widened. “It’s your parents. And Allura.”
“Come on.” Lance took Keith’s hand and pulled him into the library. He pressed his hands to Keith’s temples and closed his eyes, concentrating.
Keith gasped as they were transported to where Alfor, Allura and Laura were. They could clearly see them, but they couldn’t see Keith and Lance.
“Altean magic is something else.” Keith mumbled.
Lance grinned and turned his attention to his family.
“Allura, is everything alright?” Alfor asked, hand on her shoulder. His worried look made Lance’s stomach churn. He’d never gotten sympathy from his father, only his mother and only in moments when it was needed. Lance always guessed they wanted him to be warrior-like. He sometimes thought his father wanted him on the front lines. He did wish to be, but his mother had always opposed to it. Alfor always listened to Laura so Lance was never on the front lines in battle. Instead he stayed at the castle coming up with strategies alongside Allura.
Lance saw Allura take a deep breath before looking at their parents. “I cannot marry the Prince of Daibazaal. Lance is in love with him.”
Lance and Keith were back in the library. The Altean Prince had let go of Keith and ran towards the conference room. He ignored Keith’s calls and burst in the room. Three pairs of eyes fell on him. He was almost breathless.
“You promised.” He croaked at Allura.
“I could not stand back and do nothing.” Allura protested. “You were suffering and wanted to do so quietly.”
“I did it for peace!” He nearly yelled. “Peace comes before anything. This has been going on for years and I’m tired of this.” He turned towards his parents and bowed. “I am sorry for going against your wishes.” His fists were clenched at his sides. It was the only thing keeping him from crying. “I will confess and explain everything.”
Lance told them everything. From the day they met to the nights he would escape to meet with Keith to even now, that he was eavesdropping into the conversation. Allura might have told on him, but he would never tell on his sister.
“I understand that I will be punished and will accept anything as long as there is peace between Altea and Daibazaal.” He stood straight, an invisible rod in his back. His gaze was unwavering as he looked between his parents.
Alfor and Laura looked at one another before turning their gazes to Lance. He closed his eyes, waiting for them to punish him in the most appropriate way possible.
He watched as his mother stood and walked closer to him. Looking at her was like looking in a mirror. Lance was a spitting image of his mother.  Ocean blue eyes, sharp features, skinny and lanky. They were very watchful of things going on around them and were there for when other people needed them, even if those people were not there for them when they needed someone. That was why Lance was so close to his mother.
Laura placed a hand on Lance’s cheek. “We would never punish you for that, mijo.”
“I’m sorry.” He sobbed, arms around her shoulders. “I’m sorry, mom.”
Laura patted his back. She didn’t pull back until Lance was calm. “Is it true you love him?”
Lance nodded, wiping his eyes. He felt like he was five again when his mom would comfort him whenever he scraped a knee or elbow. Laura would stay until Lance was calm enough to speak and ask what happened. He always loved her for that. It showed her compassionate side that he appreciated in moments like these.
“I’m sorry. And I understand if the alliance doesn’t happen or if Lura is to marry him because I know it’s first in line.”
“Lance.” HIs father placed a heavy, comforting hand on his shoulder. “Son, we couldn’t deprive you of this. Why did you not tell us sooner?” Lance saw the compassion in his father’s eyes. The first time it was directed at him.
“Because I knew it would be best for everyone.”
“But you.” Allura interjected, frown on her face.
Lance didn’t like that look.
“Go get some rest.” Laura reached up and kissed his forehead. “We’ll figure something out.”
Allura took Lance by the hand and walked out. Keith wasn’t there any longer which made his heart drop a little. They leisurely walked to his room, his head hanging low. He didn’t change when he arrived at his room, instead he fell onto his bed, Allura sitting next to him.
“It’ll be fine, Lance.”
“They’re expecting Keith to marry Princess Allura not Prince Lance. You’re the next in line for the throne so they want you.” He mumbled. He was facing to his window, watching as the trees swayed with the breeze. “I’m going to Blue.” He stood and made his way to the stables.
Blue snorted when she saw him. Lance smiled a little, petting her neck. He stayed grooming her for a long while, talking about his feelings on the situation he was in. He spoke of Keith and Allura and Shiro. He spoke of how when he needed Pidge and Hunk the most, they weren’t there because they were busy doing something.
After a varga, a guard came to tell Lance his parents were searching for him. With a deep breath he followed the guard. His parents were in the conference room, looking worried. They stood when they saw Lance walk in.
“Is everything okay?” The prince asked worriedly.
“We just spoke to the Emperor.” Laura informed him. “Takashi had spoken with him earlier on behalf of the Prince. The Emperor is okay if you two were to marry.”
Lance had to blink one too many times for the information to process. His eyes shone with tears as he hugged his parents tightly, thanking them profusely.
“Anything, Lanzo.” Laura smiled.
Lance laughed in disbelief. “I - I need to find Keith!” He nearly ran out of the room, only to come face to face with Shiro and Keith. “Keith!” He screeched and threw himself at the Galra.
Keith stumbled back, regaining his balance with the wall. “L-Lance!”
The Altean Prince had clung onto Keith like a lifeline, arms and legs wrapped around him so tightly Keith thought he would stop breathing. Lance was laughing, pure joy spilling out of his mouth that it warmed Keith right down to the core.
“They’re okay with it!” He smacked a loud kiss on Keith before hugging him again.
Everything happened so fast, Keith wasn’t able to react properly.
“I’m guessing you are getting the guy of your dreams.” Shiro teased. He laughed as Keith’s face turned pink.
“Lanzo.”
Lance let go of Keith in the blink of an eyes, smiling sheepishly at his mother. “Sorry, mother.”
“Wait. What is going on?” Keith asked, looking at all of them.
“We’re getting married! Jeez, Keith. Keep up.” Lance huffed, without any bite to it.
They all watched as Keith stared between all of them before turning to Lance with wide eyes. The Altean had a giddy look on his face. Keith finally understood and hugged Lance tightly before bowing at Alfor and Laura and thanking them.
“Allura will stay at Altea to prepare for when she becomes queen.” Alfor spoke. “She and Takashi will rule.”
Shiro looked at the king confused. “With all due respect, Your Highness, but what do you mean?”
“I told them and the Emperor about us.”
They all turned to Allura who was smiling at Shiro hopefully. Shiro’s face turned pink. Allura laughed. “Don’t worry, Shiro. You’ll be a great king.”
Shiro sputtered unintelligent words.
Keith and Lance snickered behind their hands. They smiled at one another before linking hands and escaping the mess that was Takashi Shirogane.
They spent their afternoon in the clearing, talking about how their lives would be after they were married. How everything would be different in Daibazaal and how excited Keith was for Lance to meet his parents as someone he loved and not someone he was forced to marry.

You looking for ficlet prompts? How about: Shallura getting it on in front of a camera, or they're in an LDR and things get heavy when they're video calling.
((You know, my first thought was to make this a modern AU but then I realized there’s no reason I can’t make it semi-canon-compliant. Also I ran with my “Alteans don’t have clits but instead have deeply-buried pleasure centers” headcanon.))
“Princess?”
“It’s okay, Shiro, it’s just me.” She smiled at the comm screen as she sat up in bed. “I even sent the mice away.”
He smiled. He and Keith were off on a mission in another system. He’d reported in as required earlier, when it was still the day cycle on the Castle, when Coran, Pidge, Hunk, and Lance had been around, too. But now it was night, and it was just the two of them... she assumed.
“What about Keith?” she asked.
“He’s asleep. Here.” He angled the screen to show Keith curled up near one of Red’s paws, about twenty feet away. The screen angled back to Shiro in his paladin uniform, including the helmet (to feed the sound of their talking through its speakers instead of broadcasting it, she figured). “How are you?”
“Lonely,” she said. “The bed feels too big without you in it.”
He blinked. “I haven’t been gone a full quintant yet.”
“I miss you.”
“Clearly. I just didn’t expect it to be so bad so quickly.”
“Nor did I, to be honest. But it is. It’s as if your absence is a presence of its own, haunting me.”
“I’d be there if I could. Believe me, I’d much rather be in bed with you than out here. For one thing, the bed is softer than the ground.”
She snorted once and replied, with wry mock-annoyance, “You’re just using me for my bed.”
“Well, it is nicer than the single bunks back on the Castle.” His eyes crinkled behind the visor as he smiled. “But I miss you for more than just comfier sleeping.”
She stopped pretending she didn’t know that. “I don’t know how I’ll sleep without being in your arms, or having you in mine.”
He sighed. “I’d love to be in your arms right now, Allura. You know how warm and safe you make me feel.”
“Is that all I make you feel?” she asked mischievously. “Warm and safe?”
“You know better than that.”
“Tell me anyway.”
He cast a glance towards the direction of the sleeping Keith and cleared his throat. “Allura...”
“Please?”
“Stop batting your eyes at me,” he groused. “Fine.” He did another throat clear as his cheeks started to color, and spoke a little quieter. “You do make me feel warm, you know. Not just when you hold me, but when you smile for me, and it makes your eyes sparkle. When you hold my hand - either of them - and lay your head on my shoulder. When I can see and feel how much you care for me, it makes my heart race and my mind sing and my entire body feels warm and light.”
Her cheeks were getting warm, hearing his sweet words. “And what else besides warm and safe and light?”
“You really want to go there now?”
“Why not?” she asked. “Here, hold on a tick!” She dashed away, leaving the screen up where it was and hurried out of her robe and nightgown. She made sure not to hurry as she came back into view of the screen, knowing that the first thing he’d see would be her tummy, then her breasts, then her shoulders and neck before her face came back into view as she sat. “Now, where were we? Or, rather, where were you?”
His eyes were wide and he licked his lips and swallowed hard. “Allura...”
She bit her lip and he cursed under his breath in English. “Yes, Takashi?” she asked.
He groaned. “No fair. No fair using my name and biting your lip...”
“Please?” she pleaded. She raised a finger to her collarbone and let it trail down the center of her chest, knowing he’d mentally follow it down.
He cleared his throat and shifted how he was sitting. All she could see was his face and neck, but nearly every patch of skin she saw was red. “You’re making me feel a lot more than just warm right now,” he admitted.
“Tell me.”
He exhaled. “You’re getting me so hot and worked up right now,” he confessed. He tossed another quick glance towards Keith, then back to her. “If he wasn’t right there...”
“Don’t think about him. Just think about me.” She took hold of the screen and pulled it with her as she laid down, letting it hover just above her face.
“You look so gorgeous, with your hair spread out like that. I wish I could be there to tuck some of it behind your ear as I leaned down to kiss you.”
She closed her eyes to picture it. “Mmm, that would be nice.”
“Powder your face with soft kisses, down until I get to your throat.”
She ran her fingers along one side of her neck.
He kept talking. “Start to deepen the kisses there, suck on your skin a little, maybe a nip or two.”
She giggled.
“Run my hand along your side, let it just barely skim your breast. I love being able to touch you. Press my hand against your thigh and push it up, feeling the steel of those muscles beneath your soft skin.”
“Takashi,” she breathed.
“Sucking harder on your neck as I caress your thigh. I love feeling your body beneath mine, next to mine, your skin on my skin... I love knowing you bare so much of yourself only to me.”
“Only for you, my love,” she agreed, sliding a hand down between her thighs. “I want you to touch me.”
He obliged, at least in words. “I’d slide my hand over your thigh and down in between them, ask you to spread your legs a little wider so I can get a better angle.” Her actions followed his words. “Tease one finger around your slick entrance, just enough sensation so you know I’m there.”
“Nngh,” she whimpered. “I need more.”
“I know you do. You’re always so needy, your hunger so sharp. I won’t tease you any longer. I’ll slip that one finger into you and hook it right into that first bundle of nerves there, giving it long, slow strokes as I moan against your throat.”
She moaned as her finger obeyed his narration. “Just one?” she pouted.
“For now. I want to build you up slowly, but you’ll get a second finger soon, as I suck hard enough on your neck to leave a mark, just high enough to peek out over the top of your collar if someone were to look for it.”
She arched and moaned. “As if anyone could ever doubt that I’m yours.”
“Or that I’m yours, my princess,” he replied, voice sounding shaky.
She opened her eyes. “Are you pleasuring yourself, Takashi?”
His were closed. “Starting to,” he confirmed. He sighed. “Trying to keep it quiet though.”
“If only it could be my hand wrapped around your strong, thick cock,” she purred, easing up on herself so she could better focus on him. “Pumping up and down your shaft, feeling the hard heat of you twitch in my hand. Preparing you for when I can finally have you inside me.”
“Allura,” he groaned thickly.
“I love the anticipation of it, of watching you enjoy my hand and knowing that you’ll enjoy even more of me soon enough.”
He simply moaned in response.
“Bringing you near my entrance, teasing us both with just the tip of your cock. I’m so wet in wanting you, my love. I need you to fill me as only you can.”
He bit his own lip now. “Well, if you need me that badly, how can I refuse?”
“Will you be fast or slow?”
“Slow,” he all but moaned. “I want to feel your tight pussy stretch for me an inch at a time.” She whimpered as he continued, “You take my dick so well, your body hotter and wetter than I’ve ever known, and it feels like I’m going to combust but I don’t care. I’d burn to ash and be reborn over and over again to feel us becoming one like this.”
“Ahhh, Takashi...” She loved it when his dirty talk slid into romance (or vice versa). She closed her eyes again.
“Bury myself in you until I hit that one perfect spot deep inside you. Rub the head of my cock against it and watch your body arch...” She was arching just thinking of it, three fingers inside herself now, and she heard him say, “just like that. Holy fuck, you’re always beautiful, but you are a special kind of lovely when you start to lose yourself like that.”
“To you. Only and always to you,” she panted. “And it almost aches to feel you withdraw again, but I know it’s only so you can return again. And it’s so good to feel you so deep within me, the full length and girth of you stroking my nerves and bringing me even greater pleasure.”
“You wrap your legs around me to keep me close, and I kiss you as I start to really thrust. I know how much you love this.”
“Almost as much as I love you,” she confirmed. “I have to break away from your lips to cry out at how good you feel.” She was finger-fucking herself well and truly now, and even if her fingers couldn’t reach as deep as her lover’s cock could, it still felt good, so good to be doing this with him, in a way.
“I can never have enough of you moaning my name.”
“Takashi...”
“Allura, you’re so... fuck...” He was biting his lower lip hard, and it came back to her again that Keith was right there, that he could wake up at any point and see Shiro jerking himself off to her voice and their shared fantasies, and it sent a thrill through her.
“Come with me, Takashi.”
“I’m so close...”
“Just a little more, please?” she panted.
He groaned, licked his lips, and said, “You are the sweetest fuck I have ever had. I have never known anyone like you, Allura. And even if I could never...” He had to pause for breath. “...never touch you again, I could never leave you. I love you so much... oh fuck, come for me, princess...”
Her only answer was to arch and moan loudly as her orgasm spread out from her fingers through her nerves and into every part of her body. She was vaguely aware of his voice doing similarly.
When she fell back down to the bed beneath her, she could hear her lover talking. “I’m fine. Go back to sleep.”
She opened her eyes and giggled. “You woke him?”
He was quiet, save for his heavy breathing. Then, finally, “Yeah. I told him it was just a dream.”
She gasped. “You lied to him?” she teased.
“Not entirely.” He looked straight at her. “You are a dream come true, Allura.”
She blushed again. “Thank you for this. I feel less alone now.”
“You’ll never truly be without me; you know that.”
She smiled. “I love you.”
He smiled back. “I love you, too. Get some sleep.”
“You as well. Good night.”
“Good night.”
The screen disappeared and the bedroom light shut off. She turned onto her side and snuggled into her pillow as she fell blissfully asleep.

The Model and the Photographer
Tumblr media
@sluttybeka Ask and you shall receive.
Shallura Prompt that I got really carried away with. Rated T, for language. Also on Ao3
“Man, Shiro!” Matt started, plopping himself onto the sofa next to his best friend while he brought his legs up to rest his feet on the coffee table with a hard thud. “I still can’t believe that you get to photograph Allura Altea!”
Shiro shrugged while he cleaned a few of his camera lenses. “I don’t think it’s a big deal.” He inspected one of the lenses carefully, making sure it was spotless before he moved on to clean the next one. “She’s just another model to me. And I am a photographer. So it’s kind of my job, ya know.”
Matt’s head snapped to him with wide eyes and his jaw slack. “Just another model?” he repeated with harsh syllables that made Shiro roll his eyes. “You’re kidding me, right? You must be kidding me because Allura Altea is probably - no, she is hands down the hottest model I have ever seen. In the history of ever.”
Shiro blew a gentle breeze to blow away the fine fibers that attached to his camera caused by his cloth. He’d need to get a new one soon. “Even hotter than 90s Cindy Crawford?”
Matt opened his mouth, then closed it. Soon, he let out a hard breath through his nose. “Yes.” He looked off towards the distance for dramatic effect. “Even hotter than 90s Cindy Crawford.”
“You hesitated,” Shiro pointed out.
“Allura will do that to a man, Shiro.” He was still looking off into the distance. At what? Probably a bird or a plastic bag caught in an updraft. Shiro didn’t really care, after 10 years of friendship, he was used to his antics. “She will make you doubt everything you thought about everything.”
Shiro snorted. “You say that about every model that I photograph and it still makes no sense.”
“Okay, so maybe I do. But this time, Shiro, this time, I mean it.” He hitched up his hips so he could reach into his back pocket to pull out a folded piece a paper. He unfolded it to reveal one of Allura’s photos he ripped from a fashion magazine. Its edges were frayed probably from him frantically ripping it out when he found out Shiro was photographing the love in his life. He probably didn’t even notice that the photograph was missing the bottom left side corner.
Shiro raised a brow. “Do you always carry around photos of women in your back pocket?” He took a few test shots of his studio and frowned when he noticed the lightning was just a tad off.
Matt placed the photo over his heart. “Only when I love them, Shiro.” Matt then held out the photo to his unimpressed friend. “Look at her and I dare you to tell me that she isn’t the most beautiful person you have ever seen in your entire life?”
Shiro didn’t need to look at the photo to know what she looked like. He’s seen her plenty of times. She was everywhere from televised interviews, being stopped by TMZ, to being on the front cover of almost every fashion magazine he’d picked up within the last six months. She was the new, “It Girl”. With long white flowing hair, dark skin and crystal blue eyes, she definitely had a unique look that made her look almost alien.
Shiro had to admit, she certainly was a looker but he wasn’t about to let himself be fooled by only her looks. He was a professional photographer for about five years now, he’d seen many models that had the look of a supermodel and the heart but tainted their talent with a diva attitude. He’s seen the worst of the worst, from the most bratty to the most spoiled. Many of them came into his studio with ridiculous demands before they were even in front of his camera. He loved his job, he really did. It’s just the stuck up models that he hated. He thanked his parents and his military background for blessing him with his legendary patience because without it, he was sure that he wouldn’t be where he was now in his career.
Pushing the photo aside, Shiro laughed. “I don’t know, man,” he said in a teasing voice while he adjusted the lighting in the studio to allow more natural light to flood the area. “Have you seen my baby cousin, Miko? Now that’s a beautiful baby.”
Matt made a face, then nodded with a pulled frown. “Okay, yeah, you right, you right. Miko is the cutest fucking baby I have ever seen in the entire existence of my life. And that bowl cut! Are you serious? She’s serving looks for days! Should’ve named that baby Jolene because she could steal my man at any given moment.”
“Steal your man?” Shiro said. “You aren’t even gay.”
Matt followed Shiro around the studio while the taller man went through his mental checklist to make sure everything went smoothly for the day, the crumpled photo still in his hands. When Shiro stopped, Matt took the chance to prop up an elbow on his shoulder. He had to stand on the balls of his feet to be comfortable with Shiro’s height. “But you know what I am gay for, Shiro?”
Shiro sent him a smirk. He placed a hand on Matt’s shoulder before he began in a serious tone, “I’m sorry, buddy, but I only see you as a friend.” He quickly sidestepped and Matt lost in balance.
Matt regained his composure. “No, but listen Linda. Listen. Let me finish, rudeness.” He held out the wrinkled photo to Shiro. “I’m gay...for our friendship. And you know how friendship is a two-way street? Well, Daddy, ya boy needs a favor.”
Shiro made a face. “I never want to hear you call me that again. Who told you to call me that? Was it Keith?” he pressed.
“Sorry, Pops.” That was...better? “And yeah, it was Keith.” That asshole. ”But Papa Linda, you aren’t listening.” Shiro let out a sigh. He knew exactly where this was going but he wanted to let his best friend finish making a fool of himself. “I just need. I really want an autograph. From Allura.” Cue puppy dog eyes. “Please.”
Shiro folded his arms with a straight face, completely unaffected by Matt’s not-so-secret weapon.
“Oh come on, Shiro! “Matt yelled. “I never ask you for anything. When was the last time I asked you for a favor?”
“Last night when you needed $24.61 for pizza, breadsticks, and a lava cake from the shittiest pizzeria in town that doubles as the shittiest bakery in on the west coast.”
“First of all, its top 18, at best.” Who has a top 18 of anything? “And second, I forgot my wallet at Pidgey’s place! What do you want me to do? Starve?! Like some potato farmer in 1846? I don’t think so. I’m a growing boy, Shiro! I needs my meats! And third, yeah you’re right. That lava cake was trash and it burned my tongue.”
Shiro raised a brow. “I thought you were a vegetarian?”
“That was the old me, Shiro,”  Matt told him. “I was just...always hungry. Hey, don’t distract me! Shiro, I really need this. If you get this autograph for me, I will never ask you for another favor again.” He dropped to his knees. “I promise. Cross my heart and swear to never use your money on the 18th best pizzeria in town ever again.”
Shiro closed his eyes. Matt was as dramatic as those theatre kids who walk the hallways singing the lyrics to Hamilton. However, he could tell that this autograph was really important to him. Hopefully, this Allura woman didn’t think it was for himself because that would be kind of creepy. Hey, I know I just spent the majority of the day taking your picture but you can sign this crumpled up one that looks like it belongs under my pillow?
“Fine,” Shiro caved with a sigh. Matt rose from his knees to wrap his arms around Shiro. “But don’t think I won’t forget our little deal.”
“Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank y-“
“That’s enough of that. Now get going. I still need to set up a couple of things before your temporary crush gets here.” He peeled away his friend before he set out to organize his backup cameras just in case something happened to the one he had chosen for the photoshoot.
“Temporary crush? Our love will last forever, just you watch,” Matt told him as he gathered his duffel bag and slung it over his shoulder and across his chest.
He made his way to the back door. “Thanks again, Abbeh-leh. And good luck with today and try not to fall in love with her. She’s mine.” He sang the last part before he was out the door and the studio filled with silence.
Shiro knew he only had a short amount of time before his crew arrived to help finish with setting up the area. With the help of Matt, he already set up the majority of the area.
As nonchalant as he was with Matt, he actually was nervous about this shoot. Allura was now a huge name in the industry and if anything everything went right, it could skyrocket his career. But if things went wrong, she had the potential to sink his career along with all of the hard work he put into it. It almost happened a year ago when some up-and-coming model had threatened to put him out of business because she argued that he only shot her bad side. He offered her reshoots but she declined them all. If it wasn’t for the fact that she personally knew Keith, she would have gone to the tabloids to slander his name.
From then on, he felt like he had to give up his role as the leader and take the backburner in his own studio. Whatever the models wanted, especially the ones with star power, he made sure it happened out of the fear that they might tank him. Even if they were terrible ideas, he would try to compromise but most of the time, he gave up his creative control. It was something he dreaded most for the upcoming day, giving up his control.
He did his homework, of course. He did a little research on her to see her work ethic and his surprise he read some very positive things. Always on time, easy to work with, always had beautiful shots, knew how to work with what she had, and not so much as an eye roll. It put Shiro at ease a bit but he still remained skeptical.
No one was that perfect.
It wasn’t long before he heard a commotion outside. Russling followed by high pitched screams admiration. “Look like the princess has arrived,” he thought to himself. He nicknamed every model he photographed that because they always acted so prissy.
Soon, the back door whooshed open and in walked in a horde of people followed by dozens of flashes. He should have known that where there were screaming fans, there were always dozens of paparazzi not far behind. The two often went hand in hand.
He focused on the dozens of people who suddenly entered his studio. He recognized a few as his crew and there were others he didn’t recognize. They must be a part of Allura’s team.
Everyone either had a jacket that covered their heads or an umbrella. In the middle of the crowd was a giant pink umbrella that spread out wide enough to cover maybe two people. It was used to hide from the rain and quite possibly the aggressive paparazzi waiting outside just to get the perfect shot he knew he was getting in just a few short hours. Shiro didn’t even realize that it was raining. He had been so busy getting everything ready, he didn’t even hear the shallow drops that hit the roof above him.
Shiro watched as his crew separated from the model’s crew. He instructed his crew to dry off then finish moving the heavier props and backdrops into place in time for the shoot before he made his way over to the model to introduce himself.
When the crowd thinned out, he could see the figure standing with the giant umbrella. She did her best to shake off the excess water away from anybody or any equipment. She was a lot taller than he had originally thought she was, almost if not taller than he was. And he was pushing 6’3”. She wore dark pants and a navy blue coat with matching gloves. Dark shades covered her eyes and a hood pulled over her head to serve as extra protection from the rain. Pieces of her white hair poked out from under the hood ungracefully and fanned around framing her face.
He quickly strode over to introduce himself. He wanted to get on good terms quickly. The rain looked like it already put a damper on her mood as she struggled aggressively to close the giant, pink umbrella. He wanted to get good with her now before she was too far to reach. He’s seen a model when they get wet unexpectedly. It was not a fun time.
Shiro took the umbrella from her hands. “Here let me help you that, Miss Altea.” He closed it quickly before more water could drip onto the floor. He wiped his hands on his pants to get rid of the water he wasn’t spared from and then he reached out with his flesh hand to shake her hand.
Allura didn’t move. She only stared at Shiro, dissecting him from behind her shades. Oh boy, here we go, Shiro thought in a bitter tone. She was already about to get on his bad side.
Shiro was about to comment before Allura let out a laugh.
A deep laugh.
Shiro frowned. That’s not a girl’s laugh. The person who he thought was Allura pulled off his hood and shades to reveal someone who definitely wasn’t the woman he was getting paid to photograph for the next 7 hours.  However, he did recognize the tall man. He was always at Allura’s side holding her hand whenever she was caught on TMZ. Boyfriend maybe?
Shiro suddenly felt embarrassed. He rubbed his hand behind his neck, feeling his face heat up. “O-oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t recognize you, Mr...?”
The man took the opportunity to introduce himself. “Lotor Galra. Nice to make your acquaintance, Mr. Shirogane. Even if is on these...awkward terms. One would think that the photographer would do a little more research. Even if it’s to tell the difference between his client and a complete stranger,“ Lotor finished with a smirk.
Shiro frowned but before he could defend himself, another voice spoke up. “Oh shut up, Lotor.” A boy with a short brown hair cut in. “You’re just mad because Shiro thought you were a girl. If you didn’t act like such a snob, then it wouldn’t have happened. Because, my guy, who wears gloves in 78-degree weather, ya ass.”
Lotor sneered and rolled his eyes. The man walked passed Shiro to scope out the rest of the building.
“Hey, sorry about that.” The boy said. “That’s Lotor. He’s a jackass but a softy. I’m Lance: Makeup Extraordinaire.” Did he just do jazz hands? “I’m Allura’s makeup artist and manager for the day on the count of Coran couldn’t be here for the photoshoot.”
Shiro smiled, at least this boy was friendlier than his first encounter. “I’m Shiro, but you already knew that. If I knew it was raining, I would have brought out some towels for everyone.”
Lance laughed. “A little rain ain’t never hurt nobody. With the way Lotor was dressed, you would think it was raining acid. I guess witches can’t get wet or else they’ll melt!” he yelled the last part in hopes that Lotor heard it.
“I’ll burn your entire house down, plebian.” Came a threat from the back of the studio. For some reason, Shiro believed him.
Shiro frowned and looked around. He didn’t see anyone there that fit the description of the woman. If that person who he thought was Allura, then where was the model? He focused back to Lance. “Hey, Lance. So, uh...where is Allura?” he asked, hoping to not sound alarmed. He hoped this wasn’t the one time she was late to a photo shoot. They really had a big day ahead of them.
Lance made a confused sound and looked around the studio. He turned his head, craned his neck, and walked around a short distance. “Where is she? She was just here.” He was talking more to himself than to Shiro. Lance brought his hands to his mouth to project his voice. “Lotor, where’s Lu?” he called out.
“Melting,” came the smooth reply.
Lance’s eyes went wide. “Shit!” He cursed while he shrugged off his jacket and held it over his body. “She’s still out there!?” He immediately went back out the door and returned shortly with a woman smothered under his green jacket.
She laughed when he ruffled her hair under through his jacket. “I’m sorry, Lance! Those girls said that they were waiting for hours! I couldn’t just leave them out there with nothing to show for it.”
Lance smiled. “I know, but we gotta job to do, ‘Lura,” he told her. He was still holding the jacket over her head. “Nu-uh, nope. That pout won’t work on me. I taught you that pout. Hey, at least they all got their selfies, that should be enough to hold them over until next time, don’t you think?”
Shiro heard a muffled sigh from under the coat. He almost laughed at how cute she sounded. This isn’t what he expected. A supermodel outside in the rain signing autographs and taking selfies with every one of her fans. It was a surprise for him to see a model behave like this. Most models just came in and ignored both the fans and him.
“I think your hair is about dry,” Lance said as he gave her hair one more ruffle, making her head shake back and forth. She gave a playful whine at the treatment. “Hopefully Nyma won’t be too mad that she has to wrangle this bird’s nest into something high fashion. Imma go grab a towel to dry the rest of you off. Don’t move or you’ll get water everywhere.” With that, Lance ventured off in search of towels.
“They’re on the shelves in the bathroom to the far right,” Shiro called after him. “I packed plenty, you can pass them around to whoever needs them.”
Shiro looked back towards Allura, the real Allura, just as she took off Lance’s jacket from around her head and face. And for the first time, Shiro got to get a look at her.
Lance was right, her hair was a mess and it looked like a bitch to get manageable again. The rain had converted it back to its naturally curly texture and it still somehow perfectly framed her face. Long, thick lashes, still coated with rainwater, surrounded the bluest eyes Shiro had ever seen. Her lipstick, that once painted her full lips, was now smudged across her chin and some even stained her teeth because of Lance’s harsh treatment. Her tank top rode up slightly and clung to her body in all the right places and he was pretty sure that one of her shoes were missing.
She looked a downright mess. She looked like she was out in the rain for hours instead of minutes. She was truly the definition of a disaster. She was - She looked - She-S-
She was fucking gorgeous.
Shiro doesn’t think he’s ever been left speechless before. Matthew was right about her - she was breathtaking. The photographs don’t do her justice because nothing can compare to seeing her standing before him now.
Shiro watcher her lips move but he heard no sound. All he heard was the sound of his own heart pounding wildly against his chest and the sound of his own blood rushing to his head.
He was embarrassing himself.
Yes, he knew that. But could he stop? Probably not. Did he want to stop? Hell no. He’s falling for her but he’s doing nothing to catch himself and when he hits the ground, he knows he won’t even try to get back up.
When her beautiful lips moved again, he forced himself to listen to the words they formed. When he focused, he could vaguely make them out: Are you alright?
All too suddenly, his world reformed back around him. “Huh?” He tried to play it off. “Yeah, I’m good. I’m cool.” He cleared his throat. Play it cool, Shiro. “I’m fantastic.” Fuck, Shiro, you stupid bitch.
Allura let out a laugh and Shiro mentally groaned. It was the sweetest sound he’s ever heard. Does she have to laugh like an angel? He’s not even funny. Why was she laughing?
“Okay,” she laughed again. “I’m just making sure. It’s about time we had a proper introduction, yeah? However, I can’t say it cant qualify as too proper considering I look like I was hit by a tornado carrying a hoard of cats.”
Oh, that voice. That accent. Was she always British? She could tell him to jump off of the fucking Golden Gate Bridge and he’d do a flip just to go the extra mile. Shiro straightened up and put on his charm. “That’s why we have a hair and makeup team, I’m sure they can get you glammed up,”
Is what he thought he said.
However, the dork in him came out and only replied with, “Catnado.” Allura gave him a strange look as her brain tried to understand his made up word. When she did finally understand, she threw her head back with a laugh. A beautiful laugh. There she goes again with that bullshit.
She pulled herself together. “A catnado, huh?” She took a step forward and Shiro felt his heart leap. “I suppose that is somewhat clever. However you can do better, I’m sure,” she teased with a smile.
Shiro shrugged. “Cycat.” She cocked her head to the side, and her silver curls followed her movement. He was mesmerized but managed to explain himself. “...Like...a cyclone? ...But with cats.”
When she still didn’t respond, Shiro let out a chuckle as he rubbed the back of his neck with a sheepish smile. “See? I can’t do better.”
Her laughed lightened the mood. “Ah, at least you know your comedic limitations. I admire that.” She took another step forward, almost invading his personal space but stopped just short of it. “We Brits aren’t really known for our sense of humor.” She beamed up at him and it was then that he noticed just how blue her eyes truly were.
She stood with her back straight and her head held up high, exuding confidence. “Well, I do believe that it’s time for introductions.” She stuck out her hand for a handshake. “Allura Altea. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, Mr. Shirogane. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about you and your work,” she praised.
It took a split second for Shiro to access the situation he found himself in. When he did introductions, he liked to be the first to extend his hand in a greeting because it gave him the freedom of offering his flesh hand as opposed to his prosthetic, forcing most people to use their non-dominant hand. Not that he was ashamed of prosthetic, he just didn’t want to take people by surprise when they gripped the hard metal. Especially the models. He had one girl long ago refuse to even get near him because she was so disturbed by it.
He mentally scolded himself for allowing her to control the handshake. Now he had no choice but to follow her lead and offer his prosthetic. His eyes never left hers when their hands touched. He sighed in relief when she didn’t show any indication that she was uncomfortable with the contact.
He couldn’t help but smile at her reaction but also saddened that he couldn’t feel her hand through the metal. “The pleasure is all mine, Miss Altea. But please, call me Shiro.”
She giggled. “Okay, Shiro.” He never thought his name would sound so good. “But now you have to address me simply as Allura. Do we have a deal?”
“Deal.”
Before he was to allowed to drown in her blue eyes, Lance came back draping a thick towel around Allura. “Alright, alright come on, ‘Lura,” he said, wrapping the towel around her body trying to dry her off. “We’re already a behind schedule because you wanted to release your inner Hilary Duff with all this rain. I’ll have Hunk bring you in some dry clothes. Now go finish drying off so Nyma can get started on your hair for your first look. You have…” he checked his cell phone for the time. “An hour and thirteen minutes!”
Allura hugged the towel tighter around herself. “Alright, alright.” She turned to leave towards the dressing rooms towards the back of the studio, but before she left she turned towards Shiro. “See you soon, Shiro. Can’t wait to see what you have planned.” She gave a wink. Shiro could only give an awkward wave in return.
Lance patted Shiro’s back in a knowing fashion. “We’re gonna have a good time today, Shiro. Trust me.” Soon, he left in the same direction she had gone.
He finally felt his heartbeat return to normal. Today was going to be a long day because he knew that she was going to be the death of him.
While Allura and her team worked to get the model together, Shiro decided to check out the wardrobe brought it so he can make some last minutes adjustments to the set. Most were long, elegant gowns by both famous and local designers. Allura’s team already knew the exact order of everything. The hair, the makeup, the outfits were already predetermined. Shiro’s job was to simply capture the beauty of the gowns and Allura on camera.
Seeing how dark the first set of gowns were, Shiro decided to let in more natural light. The gloomy skies above would give a unique effect to the gown as well as compliment Allura’s complexion.
Soon, everything was in place. The cameras were fully charged, cleaned, and ready for a long day of shooting for a magazine he never thought of reading. He sat down in his chair and waited for Allura to make her entrance.
When he heard the sound of heels click on the hardwood floors, he stood and got his camera ready.
Shiro held his breath as he watched her approach. As he suspected, she wore the dark blue gown first. It was truly an elegant piece. Probably worth more than him, his studio, and apartment combined. The gown was made of a heavy material and it had a high collar that left her shoulders and back bare. She wore thousands of dollars worth of crystals and gold.
Her makeup was dramatic. Lance placed dark shadow around her eyes that gave her eyes piercing yet haunting look. Her lips were painted a deep red and her blush was harsh. Her silver hair was pulled back into a low bun. It was messy, but at the same time, he could tell that each curl was meticulously placed. Finally, atop her head sat a golden crown. She looked like royalty. Like an empress.
“Sorry if getting together took longer than you’re usually used to.” Her voice snapped him out of his stupor. He turned his wrist to check the time. She was two minutes ahead of schedule.
Shiro cleared his throat and pretended he was messing with something on his camera so he could make himself stop staring at her. “You’re just on time, actually. I’m impressed,” he told her with a lopsided grin.
She gave him a smirk. “Impressed that I clean up nicely or that I’m on time with two minutes to spare?”
He challenged her smirk with one of his own. “Both.” He pointed his camera at her before he snapped a picture. He reviewed the photo to make sure the set complimented both her skin and the gown. “You came a long way from looking like a drowned alley cat,” he teased.
He feared that he went too far with his response until he heard her laugh. “Oh, so you are funny?” she responded as she gathered her dress so she was able to walk onto the busy set. As gently as she could in such an extravagant dress, she sat down on the vintage couch. Immediately, her team followed her to smooth out any wrinkles or straighten out where the material had bunched up. She kept her eyes perfectly still when Lance strode over to apply more mascara to them. “And here I thought you were only capable of making shitty puns.” Her accent made the lighthearted insult sound almost like a compliment.
Shiro blinked. So this kitten’s got claws? Such language from a beautiful girl was...kind of a turn on if he was being honest with himself. Even in such an expensive...well everything, he could tell that she didn’t take his remark seriously.
Lance snorted from his position over Allura. “Yeah, dude. ‘Catnado’? Wow. - Look up real quick, babe. - I’m almost embarrassed for you. Because c’mon, you can do better than that.”
“I can’t,” he told him with shrugged shoulders.
“He really can’t.” Ouch.
When her eyes met his, he took another picture. He frowned when he realized that it still wasn’t the lighting he wanted. “And that’s why I’m a photographer and not a comedian,” he told them.
He came to the decision that all the artificial lighting that wasn’t directly from his camera wasn’t going to work on this dress. He turned off the lamp directly to his left and instructed his crew to turn off the rest. He only kept the reflectors to help distribute and guide the flashes from his camera.
He set down the camera and approached her. “Alright, Miss Al-“ he heard her tisk and he quickly corrected himself. “Alright, Allura. Are you ready?”
She nodded with a bright smile, careful not to disturb the curls at the base of her neck. “More than ever.”
“Well okay.” He turned back to pick up his camera. “Let’s get started, then. Remember we have a long day ahead of us. If you need a break, don’t hesitate to ask.”
“I may look like royalty, Shiro but I assure you, I am far from a princess. I’m sure I can handle whatever you decide to dish out,” she said with a wink.
Well just fuck me up.
“How do you want me?” she asked innocently and he almost choked on air.
“Excuse me?” he tried his best to recollect himself. In the distance, he heard Lance howl with laughter and a couple of his team laughed quietly along with him. His felt his cheeks flare up with heat.
Allura blinked at him owlishly with well-rehearsed fake innocence. “I said, ‘how do you want me?’ As in, do you want me standing or sitting? How do you want my face? This is your vision. I am only here to help you interpret that to an audience.”
A familiar voice spoke from the side. “Are you sure this isn’t your first shoot, Mr. Shirogane?” Lotor appeared beside him, smirk still firmly in place. “You seem awfully nervous for someone who has been in the business for almost six years. And, why may I ask, are all the lights switched off? This dress cost thousands. Surely, you would want to highlight its elegance through proper lighting?” he questioned with a hint of sarcasm.
Before Shiro could go through the explanation that the dress doesn’t reflect artificial lighting well, Allura intervened. “Lotor, this isn’t your studio,” she informed him sternly. “It’s Shiro’s. He knows exactly what he is doing. That’s why he was hired for the job. Now let the man work.”
Shiro stood in shock. It was unexpected that she openly gave him creative control over this project. It showed that she trusted him. He smiled then instructed Allura how he wanted to showcase the gown.
~•xXx•~
73 frames in and Shiro was convinced that Allura’s eyes were the most expressive he’s ever seen. She conveyed such a wide range of emotion with her eyes alone. It only took her a split second to completely change the feel of the photo.
He was elated that he didn’t have to do much to direct her on what he wanted from her. She handled everything on her own. If he went in for a low angle, she held her head up high towards the skylight to give the illusion that she appeared taller than what she actually was. Whatever he gave her, she tried her best to compliment every angle he shot her at and it matched up perfectly with his vision.
The downside to using the natural world as his source of lighting was that it was unpredictable. It was still gloomy outside, but the sun was overhead so it covered the room in a greyish blue hue.
He let his camera hang from the strap around his neck as he sent out another request. “Allura, can you give me a longing look while we still have this cloud over us? I want to try something out.”
She nodded and almost immediately, she had transformed into someone else. She allowed her lips part slightly and her eyes held the expression of someone who was light years away. The shadows in the room not only gave the dress a different hue but it also dulled and aged the expensive jewelry she wore, as if they hadn’t been polished in years. She looked exactly like a queen who no longer had a people to rule over as if she had lost them to time.
Shiro was blown away. “Perfect.” He took a couple more shots then set his camera down. He stood and stretched his back. “That’s a wrap for the first set, everyone.”
He approached Allura. She was no longer far away. She was right here with him. Eyes sparkling like the sun over the ocean. She smiled up at him from the couch. “Well?” She raised a brow. “How did I do?” she asked him honestly.
“Magnificent,” he told her without hesitation. “Honestly, I’m blown away. You exceeded my expectations.”
She laughed. “I told you I was no princess, Shiro.” And she was right. She was an absolute goddess.
“Okay, Allura back to the chair.” Lance was beside her, helping her stand up straight in the tight dress. “We have to move on the next shoot in just under an hour if we want to stay on schedule.”
“You act just like a camp counselor, Lance,” she told him.
“Damn right. All I need is a whistle,” he said while guiding her away from the set. “Coran left me in charge for the day and I’m not going to let you flop your way through it like some…?”
“Weblum?”
“Yeeeah that. Not today, sister. Now get those shoes off. Here, I brought your slippers.” And with that, they were gone deep in the dressing room. There was another grueling round of hair pulling and makeup application.
Shiro watched them go. He was being honest when he told her that she was magnificent. He had never experienced anything like her. The way she was able to have complete control her expression but she somehow made them editorial. It was breathtaking.
~•xXx•~
The hours ticked by and the next two shoots went off without a single problem. He was an expert behind the camera and she was an expert on camera. He also became more comfortable around her. He was no longer tied tongued when she spoke to him or teased him. He learned that he could dish it right back to her and it only made her smile more.
Now, they were setting up for the 4th shoot. This set had the theme of an enchanted forest. Complete with fake trees, grass, and flowers. He was grateful they were fake because he didn’t think his crew liked sneezing every few seconds because of the pollen floating around.
Before he knew it, Allura was approaching him. This dress was straight out of a fairytale. The lilac chiffon and lace material hung casually off her shoulders and it was so light that it flowed gracefully behind her as she strode forward. Her hair was down in soft waves with several small braids and several flowers were woven into them. The tiara from the last shoot was replaced by a circlet made of vines. Her makeup was whimsical. Her eyes were completely surrounded by pink pigment as if were a mask and her lips were bare with the exception of a vertical white line that went directly down the center. If she had elongated ears, she would look just like a magical elf in her secret garden.
It wasn’t until she sat down in the middle of the field did Shiro realize that she was barefoot. For this shoot, the dress was more forgiving so he allowed the artificial lighting to flow through the set.
He stood atop a ladder, looking down on her. He was changing on the bulbs in one of the taller lamps. “You ready to rock and roll, Princess?” he winked.
She retaliated at the nickname by slightly shaking his ladder. Shiro quickly found his balance and laughed nervously. He shook his head in fake disappointment. “Who would have thought that the Allura Altea would be capable of murder?”
She rolled her eyes. “And who would have thought that the Takashi Shirogane would be taken out by such a small woman by means of falling from a 3ft ladder?”
Hearing her say his first name made his chest tighten. He knew he was falling again. He knew it. He felt it. He was going to do nothing about it.
He turned his attention towards the bulb so she wouldn’t see his face flush. “Ya know, that’d make a really good episode on one of those murder porn shows. I can picture it now, ‘The Photographer, The Model and The 3ft Ladder.’  He laughed at his own joke and was delighted to hear her laugh along with him. He inspected the bulb closer and noticed dirt had collected on the surface. “Hey, can you do me a favor and pass me that towel on that chair?”
She did as she told and when she handed him the towel, Shiro’s hand brushed against hers briefly. It was just as soft as he imagined. “Can I get you anything else, Mr. Shirogane? Maybe a lemonade? Or a single Oreo?” She was teasing him.
He played along. “No, lemonade is too sweet and no one can just have one Oreo.” As he climbed down, he took the chance to wipe the rest of the lamp. “A good night’s rest seems like a good deal, though.” That came out wrong. Really wrong. He didn’t want her to think of him as some creep who promised her more money if she spent the night with him.
He opened his mouth to apologize for the easily misread comment but she was already talking, “Naughty naughty, Shiro.” She placed her hand on her chest in a fake offense. “What kind of girl do you take me for? At least take me out to dinner first.” Her voice danced with humor.
Shiro watched her. Did she just...ask him out on a date? She couldn’t have. She was just having a friendly banter with him. This was all in good fun.
A sudden burst of claps interrupted what he was going to say next. “Alright people.” When did Lance get a clipboard? “Shoot 4 is going down in T-minus 2 minutes and 37 seconds. Places people.” Did he think he was on a Hollywood movie set?
Allura rolled her eyes at his behavior. “Keep that up and I’ll tell Coran you’re out to steal his job.”
“They call me Mister Steal Yo Job,” he told her, jotting things down on a clipboard.
“Do they, Lance?” she asked sarcastically with a straight face. “Do they?”
Lance began to click his pen rapidly on the clipboard that definitely wasn’t his. “Yes, Allura...yes they do. Now let’s get going. We only have one more scene to shoot today.” Out of his pocket, he fished out a tube of chapstick. He went to Allura who immediately puckered her lips out to allow him to apply it. When he was done, he popped his lips and she immediately followed suit.
Allura stood in the middle of the “garden” and waited for Shiro to pick up his camera. Her eyes danced with mischief as she watched him. “Where do you want me, Shiro?”
This time, he was ready. “Just stand there for a moment.” He brought his camera up to take a test shot. He reviewed the photo. She had her eyes crossed with her tongue sticking out. He laughed at the silly face but took note that he liked how the garment reflected light. “Alright, Allura. Do what you do best.”
And she did.
The next half hour, he once again found himself completely infatuated with her. Every pose was perfection, every subtle movement was meticulously planned and he snapped it all.
Everything was going perfectly until they ran into a little problem.
He imagined a pose that he wanted her to try and she only looked confused at his instructions. She cocked her head to the side and tried to move her body the way he wanted her to, but it just came off as uncomfortable.
She stood up and moved away from the area and gestured towards the patch of grass. “Could you maybe...show me?” She obviously wanted him to show her exactly what pose he was thinking of.
Shiro let out a nervous chuckle. Sure, he had the body of a model because he worked out 4 times a week, but he was far from one. He had the social awkwardness of a kid who was forced to sing at the school’s talent show and he was also camera shy. A long scar on the bridge of your nose will do that to a person.
He set down his camera on a nearby stool and made his way to the area. He laid on his back and brought his arms up to rest of his over his head in a casual manner. “So with the beading that lines the seams, I figured the designer would also want to showcase that. Having your arms out the way and positioned like this will add a fantasy element to the photo.”
Allura’s eyes beamed hiding a mischievous smile. “Oh, that’s a wonderful idea. Care to share any more ideas?”
He nodded. “Maybe this kind of pose would also work?” He shifted until he rested on his stomach. He honestly had no idea what to do with his hands, so he just rested them under his head like he was taking pictures at the mall. Just as he was about to do another pose, he heard her laugh.
He heard everyone laugh, actually.
He looked around with furrowed brows. “What?” he asked out.
Allura tried not to laugh too hard because she didn’t want to ruin her makeup. “C-could you show me the second pose again?” she asked through a fit of giggles.
Raised a brow but did as he was told, “Yeah, sure but what’s so funny?” he questioned. “I’m trying to show…” it dawned on him. “...a model how to...model.” He let out a groan. He looked at her. “You’re just fuckin with me, aren’t you? You knew exactly how I wanted you to pose.”
She couldn’t hold back anymore and she erupted with laughter. “I’m sorry, Shiro,” she managed to say through her laughter. She used her hands to fan away tears that were forming. “I just wanted to see if you’d actually do it.”
Shiro felt his face heat up with embarrassment as he let his head fall. He must of have looked ridiculous rolling around in the grass like he was some top-heavy garden gnome.
He suddenly felt the heat of a body beside him. He didn’t need to look up to know exactly who it was. He could smell her sweet perfume and feel the ends of her soft hair caress the nape of his neck as she leaned over him.
“I truly am sorry, Shiro,” she whispered into his ear and he felt his face grow hotter. “If it helps you feel any better, you looked damn good posing like you were in a JC Penny catalog. Maybe I could photograph you some time and show you how a real model does it?” she proposed with a soft giggle.
Was she flirting with him? As inappropriate as it might seem, given that they were on work hours, he tested the waters a bit.
He peeked at her from under the fort he built with his arms. “You just want to see me shirtless,” she said with a boyish grin.
If she was taken aback by his comment, she didn’t show it. She moved closer to him so only he could hear her. “Maybe I do.” Her voice was downright sinful and he had to repress the shiver that raced up his spine. Just as quick as she was there, she was suddenly gone, putting distance between them. It was a bittersweet moment for him.
She poked at his side. “Now, move so I can do my job and get out of this dress.”
Shiro sat up and watched her. “So now you’re bossing me around?” She held out her hands to help him into a standing position. He doesn’t think he’ll ever forget how soft her hands are.
They switch positions and she proceeded to do the exact pose he wanted, only she did it better than he could ever imagine. He stood on the ladder he had earlier so he could photograph her from above.
It was a mistake.
From this angle, it was definitely more private because only he saw her at the moment. They were in their own separate world. Sure, the others could see her body, but only he saw her body language. He saw the way her fingers danced on the edge of her lips. He saw how her back arched just right. He saw the way her eyes wouldn’t leave his.
He cleared his throat. “Can you look that way for a couple of seconds, Allura?” She was beautiful the way she was, but he didn’t know what was going to happen if she kept looking at him like that.
He forced himself to look away. “I - uh, I think we got it,” he announced. “That’s a wrap.”
He climbed down the ladder and noticed that she hadn’t moved from her spot and her eyes were still glued to him.
He towered over her and squatted down. “What?”
She raised a perfectly arched brow. “Aren’t you going to help me up?”
He laughed but offered his hand out anyway. “I thought you were no princess?”
She took his offered hand. “You are correct, but I am a lady, Shiro.” He hoisted her up and her body pressed into his and he did nothing to put distance between them. In the back of his mind, he was vaguely aware that their hands were still connected between them. Without her shoes on, he noticed just how much shorter she was than him.
Someone cleared their throat and both immediately put distance between them. It was Lotor. Shiro almost forgot about the man. He was never on set, instead, he chose to always stand in the shadows of the studio.
Lotor approached the two. His golden eyes watched Shiro with an unreadable expression. The silver-haired man then offered his arm to Allura who took it without question. “Would you please excuse us, Mr. Shirogane?” He then led her to a secluded part of the studio where they could talk privately.
Shiro watched them talk. Lotor had his arms folded across his chest while she mimicked his stance. He couldn’t hear what they were saying but they both looked irritated with the other.
Shiro groaned. It had slipped his mind that she already had a boyfriend. Here he was, a lesser known photographer falling in love with a supermodel who was completely out of his league. He mentally slapped himself for being so stupid. She was only being nice to him and he had mistaken it for flirtation.
He peeked at the talking couple again. Their body language had changed completely. Lotor had one of his hands on her shoulder and the other under her chin to make her look up at him. He was saying something in what looked like a gentle voice. She nodded slowly in response and pressed into him with a hug and rested her head on his chest. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her forehead in return. Shiro felt a tinge of jealousy rise within him.
The two parted and made their way back to the photographer. Lotor went on to talk to Lance while Allura approached Shiro. He noticed that she avoided his eyes. He didn’t know why his heart felt so heavy. Maybe because he knew that whatever spark that was between them was extinguished.
“Everything alright?” he asked. The thought that he did something to threaten the couple’s relationship sat wrong with him. He was no homewrecker.
She hesitated before she answered. “Yes,” She started to rub her arm. “Everything is fine. I just…” she bit her lip while she struggled to find the right words.
“Lotor thinks that we need to take a break. I got carried away and hadn’t noticed the time. He gets upset when I do that. I have a tendency to,” she brought her fingers up to do air quotes, “‘overwork myself.’’ She said her statement with a mocking voice and ended with a pout.
Shiro looked at his watch. “He’s right. I hadn’t noticed the time, either,” he admitted sheepishly. Time did get away from them. It was already close to 5 and they have been shooting since 10:30 that morning. He felt guilty about putting both Allura and their crews through that. “Lunch does sound good right about now.”
Allura perked up. “Lance already asked your crew for the opinion of what they wanted for lunch. They came to a consensus to order Thai,” she said. Suddenly her face was serious. “You right like Thai food, right?”
“I’m a slut for Thai food.” The words tumbled out of his mouth before he could stop them. He completely blamed Matt for the outburst. His best friend was always a slut for everything.
He immediately felt his heart flutter when he heard her laugh harder than she had all day. “Wow. Well, I’m happy to hear that your crew knows you well enough.”
Allura heard Lance calling her from the dressing room. “I have to go get out of this dress. The food should be here shortly. We ordered enough for everyone to at least get seconds.”
He thanked her and as she turned to leave, he reached out to grab her arm. She turned her body back to him in question. “Yes, Shiro?” she asked with her head cocked to the side. Why was she so fucking cute?
“I just wanted to say that I’m sorry if I crossed the line, earlier. I didn’t mean for your boyfriend get upset.”
Her brows came together in confusion. “My boyfriend?”
“Yeah...Lotor. He’s your boyfriend, right?”
Her eyes went wide and she almost doubled over in laughter. “Lotor? My boyfriend?!” she repeated loudly, drawing the attention of people who were nearby. “You think Lotor and I are dating? Heavens no!” She looked for Lotor in the crowd and shouted out to him, “Lotor! Shiro thinks we’re dating!”
“She wishes, Shirogane,” came the bored reply.
Shiro was confused.
Allura got herself together long enough to explain. “Sorry, that’s just too funny. However, I can’t fully blame you for thinking that,” she told him while she wiped away tears from the corner of her eyes. “Our relationship is only for show. Along with fame comes some very...enthusiastic fans. The reason why he’s always by my side in public is for safety reasons. He sort of intimidates people who think they can boldly grab at me. I can handle myself just fine, but he insists that I bring him with along with me for precautions.”
“I hope that clears things up between us, Shiro,” she said simply with a wink. “I must get going before Lance blows a whistle.” Then she turned to leave.
He watched her as she walked away. In the distance, he vaguely heard a whistle but the only thing on his mind was:
She’s single.
This obviously ran away from me. Part two should be up within a day or two. Hope you guys like it.

Shallura Holidays Day 20 : Snuggles
‘Are you sure?’
‘..really?’
‘That doesn’t sound safe’
The sounds of this one-sided conversation alerted Shiro as he passed the lounge on his way to Kitchen. He looked into the room, and heard a voice whispering in the dark. At first it took time for his eyes to adjust and then he spied a head of white moving slightly near the edges of the sofa.
‘Allura?...who are talking to?’
There was an audible squeak as Allura jumped up from the floor, her mice sitting in her hands. Shiro wasn’t sure if that sound came from her or the mice.
‘I was just...’ and with a slight flush to her cheeks ‘ ..talking to the mice’
Shiro smiled at her embarrassed expression.
‘An interesting discussion, I bet’. Allura picked up on the sarcasm in his voice and her embarrassment became defensive.
‘The mice have a lot of interesting things to say!’
‘Oh really’ Shiro then taking up a seat onto the sofa, stared intently at the mice in her hands.
‘Let’s hear it’
Allura huffed, curling the mice into her chest.
‘Obviously they can’t talk to you Shiro, stop teasing them’
Shiro laughed and then patted the seat next to him. ‘Translate for me?’
Allura took the seat, but didn’t say anything, feeling a bit petty she wanted to kept Shiro in suspense. Shiro continued to smile at her, waiting patiently. Allura glanced at him now and then, but this only made Shiro’s cocky smile grow larger. At last she sighed in defeat and turned to face him. The mice rolled out of her hands and sat in between them.
‘Well, if you must know, we were talking about something that happened in the castle today, in the Green Lion hanger’ Shiro’s expressed changed to ‘interested’ immediately, his concern for the paladins evident.
‘What happened?’
‘Pidge and Hunk we’re working on a modification for the Green Lion, one thing lead to another and there was a small explosion- They’re fine! but poor Platt, he got singed’ Shiro looked at the fat yellow mouse, and noticed the scorch mark on his butt.
‘He wasn’t fast enough in getting away’
The yellow mice gave an angry squeak. Shiro couldn’t help but laugh, even though Allura was unwilling to translate it due to the flush on her cheek, he felt he knew exactly what the angry mouse said.
Allura continued to tell him of other things the mice were telling her, and as the night wore on, they suddenly found themselves sitting much closer. The mice had moved to farther end of the sofa all tuckered out but Shiro and Allura kept talking.
‘You know what Shiro...’ Allura began after they spent a varga or so in conversation.
‘Hm?
‘You’re a better conversation partner than the mice’ Allura glanced over her shoulder to their sleeping forms. ‘But don’t tell them that’
‘You’re secret is safe with me, Princess’
They continued to look at the mice when Shiro suddenly spoke up
‘Looks comfy...all snuggled up like.’
‘Yeah’
The two of them then became conscious of how close they were sitting. Shiro wondered how he should of shift away without being too obvious. Allura however suddenly placed her head onto his shoulder.
‘You talk better than the mice, do you cuddle better too?’
Shiro flushed at the boldness of the princess, but she seemed completely unaware of his racing heart perhaps because Allura was too busy being aware of her own racing heart. Shiro nervously placed his hand on her arm and pulled her into his side.
‘Let’s find out?’

Last they knew, Shiro and Allura were fighting the Galra. Suddenly they're on a strange ship with strange aliens who have... a very strange request for them. They're both stubborn enough not to give in... aren't they?
Fandom: Voltron: Legendary Defender
Rating: Explicit
Ships: Shallura Tags: Aliens Made Them Do It, (sort of), Graphic Violence only in nightmares, Non-con in nightmares, Major Character Death in nightmares, nothing's THAT bad in the reality of the fic I promise!!, but I didn't really pull punches with the nightmares so..., in happier news:, Mutual Pining, Banter, Technically there's only one bed..., getting off in the shower, Fantasizing, Fellatio, Cunnilingus, Riding, (not the horse kind; sorry), Alien Biology, safe sex, Language, All kinds of languages really
Author’s Notes: This was supposed to be short. Thank you to mckinlily (and to @lyxanislive (& their partner)) for beta-reading assistance! (Y'all are the best (like no one ever was)!)
As with pretty much everything I write anymore, FUCK CANON. This is kind of an AU of an AU, in that it takes bits from my V:LotD verse pretty much willy-nilly. I'm not sure it fits the V:LotD timeline at all. Oh well. Important bits:
Shiro has a new arm. As in Components, it was made for him by the Paladins and Allura. It needed quintessence to work, and Allura tried to fill it with hers but collapsed before she could finish, so Keith added his to top it off.
Allura's tiara is intact; that is, the gem from her tiara wasn't used to make Shiro's new arm.
I'm incorporating some headcanons from my fics Kindling, Feeling, and the Connection-verse at large. Even a couple from the Starlight/Paladin universe! xD
And, of course, explicitly bi Shiro. There’s mention of Allura having had some “flings” back before she took her 10,000 year beauty nap, but no sexes/genders are mentioned - feel free to headcanon them as you wish. As usual, I think of our glorious princess as pansexual.
Also, I really want to stress this: only in Shiro's night terrors and Allura's nightmares do any of the Big Warnings occur (the Graphic Violence, the Rape/Non-Con, the Major Character Death). NONE OF THAT HAPPENS IN THE REALITY OF THE FIC. But I really didn't pull any punches with these dreams - they're meant to be horrible and disturbing, they're meant to terrify their dreamers (and, in at least one case, make them emotionally vulnerable afterwards).
All of that being said, these things are still in the fic and I would be remiss in not tagging for them. But I just wanted to clarify how they're being used in this case.
(42,199 words - on Ao3)
SFW Teaser below cut:
Allura had almost forgotten that they were captives of an as-yet unidentified alien race who had dark, unknowable plans for them, so caught up was she in her banter with Shiro. Do you do it deliberately? she wondered to herself. Do you do this just to keep me from getting either too angry or too scared? Not that she would ever have admitted to being frightened.
And, for the most part, she wasn’t, when it was just her. Death was an inevitable part of life, and she felt she had only a small part in the drama going on around her. She worked to make it bigger, to leave a legacy she – and her father – could be proud of, but that was the best she could do. She was insignificant compared to Voltron, the defender of legend.
Voltron being more important than she was necessarily meant Shiro was more important than she was. He was the Black Paladin, the leader, the glue who held the team together. Sure, they had been coming together on their own more and more – Shiro’s near constant abductions, disappearances, and near-deaths ensured that – but Shiro was still the one the entire team turned to, in heart, mind, body, and soul.
The idea that she would be even tangentially responsible for the loss of Shiro and/or Voltron terrified her. Because without them, everything was lost. The whole universe. Even if Zarkon never got his hands on the Black Lion again, there would be no one to stop him, no one to rise up and oppose his bloodthirsty desire for conquest and power.
She knew loss deeply, intimately, like an old fling she couldn’t avoid no matter how badly she wanted to. She could deal with it, when it was her own. But the idea that Shiro might die and she’d be unable to stop it chilled her to her bones. She couldn’t face the idea, and if it happened, she’d never be able to face anyone – not even herself – ever again.
So to tease each other, place silly bets – though she was adamant that she was right and she did aim to prove it, as soon as they were free – chat as if they weren’t prisoners… It soothed her. And when he called the Castle of Lions home, she had to hold in happy tears.
You still have a planet to call home. You still have blue skies and white clouds and green fields overrun with sprays of juniberry sporesSTOPSTOP. Thoughts of Altea would weaken her when she could least afford it. You have a home, a place of origin that still exists in the universe, that you can return to. Yet still you call the Castle home?
She wanted to press him on it, to ask him – gently, maybe hide it behind some teasing – why he considered the Castle home when he still had Earth? But before she could do more than open her mouth, her ears twitched again.
They could see now – the light wasn’t too bright, nor too dim – and Shiro blinked. He must have caught the motion, and of course he knew by now what it would signify. He said nothing but looked back to the door, surely as anxious as she was to get a good glimpse of who it was, exactly, who held them.

Your wish is my command-Klance Month Week 3
So I was supposed to upload a fic yesterday for the end of week 2 but because my first fic couldn’t be reblogged (I didn’t realize that Shallura, even when they broke up before the story started, was considered controversial, but those are the rules so that was my fault) I decided to not force myself to write a story that wasn’t working. It just required a lot of back story that maybe if it had been in the first one, wouldn’t of been so hard to write. Anyway, this story is inspired by my klance BB from like 2018, which still isn’t technically finished so there are a few spoilers, but the main things: Lance had cancer and had a year left to live. The reason he could see his Shinigami Hunk and Pidge is reveled in this but how they find out will be told in the final chapter that will hopefully be released before the end of the year. Hunk gave Lance a bit of blood to help turn him into a healthy, slightly older Altean, posing under the name Isamu, Prince of Altea. Keith is also a singer, who went under the name Red (orginal) but later switches labels, also to be revealed in the story. Hunk and Pidge are given a chance to become humans again after Lance is saved by a surgery that removes the chance and doesn’t damage his vocal cords. Again, all to be revealed in the last chapter. It’s called Forgotten Prince’s Song by sasuhina_gal on AO3 if you want to check it out. Anyway, this is from after all that, enjoy! Also, if anyone cares, Keith’s song is TAEMIN’s ECLIPSE from his last Japanese CD release. I’ve got a TAEMIN  problem. Meteor Shower/Promise
Keith watched his reflection as he went through his choreography. He was so focused on watching his moves, he didn’t see the door to the dance studio open, but he did hear the person calling his name.
“Keith! Keith, Keith, Keith!”
he turned in time to catch a hyperactive 21 year old jumping on him. Bright blue eyes and dyed white hair, similar to the kind he’d fallen for, but it wasn’t the looks that made Keith fall for Lance. It was that bright smile and his sunny personality. Even when Lance had to hide behind the mask of popular singer, Lance was still himself and that’s what Keith had fallen for.
Their story was an odd one, odd even for someone who was half Galra and happened to become a member of the universe biggest security group, while also being a J-pop star. Lance had grown up with sarcoma, a tumour that sat right on his vocal cords. Years before they met, a person Lance cared for a lot had died in a plane crash, but instead of moving on, he attached himself to Lance. That caused Lance to see the Shinigami that suddenly appeared in front of him one day. He asked them to help him achieve his one dream before they took his soul, to become a singer. That started his whole adventure of becoming Isamu, Prince of Altea; Altea Records’ most popular singer. Keith first meet Lance as Isamu, back when Lance had the Shinigami making him into an older Altean. he’d met Lance without the mask later and even though Keith spent most of his time around Isamu, other than his name and age, Lance never lied to Keith – other than the whole Shinigami thing, but he found that stuff out later. Of course those same Shinigami had become Lance’s closest friends and wouldn’t allow Lance to pass on, not when they wanted him to live for so much more. A surgery that could remove the cancer and save his vocal cords was found, Keith found out the truth and realised that even as the real Lance, his feelings were the same and in a turn of event, the Shinigami were given another chance at life.
Now 2 years later, healthy and able to sing without having to hide behind a persona, he and Lance were still together. Keith was sure that after all the things they’d been through together, their relationship was strong. He was yet to be proven wrong, and would not like to be.
“Yes Lance? How can I help you?” Keith asked, running a hand through Lance’s hair. It was wind swept, no doubt from his running. He could see the brown roots starting to show. While he first meet Lance while he had white hair, he liked Lance’s natural colour better.
“There’s gonna be a meteor shower this weekend!” Lance shouted.
“Indoor voices Lance.”
Now that he had the ability to be as loud as he wanted without coughing up a storm or feeling pain, Lance was constantly as loud as possible.
“Sorry, but meteor shower! We have to go. I rarely got the chance to go outside because of how sick I was all the time. And we won’t have to bother my grandmother since I moved back into my apartment.”
It killed Keith to destroy the utter excitement Lance had. “Um, Lance. We do have a performance this weekend at Music Core?”
Lance’s face dropped as he remembered. “Oh. I forgot. I don’t know how. I’m doing my new single then.”
“And it goes pretty late depending on the order.”
Lance sunk down more. “Right. Aww, I really wanted to go see this. It would have been perfect. I mean, we haven’t done a space wide tour yet and we talked about performing under the stars. Just sitting there watching all those shooting stars go by, it would have been so perfect.”
Keith pulled Lance closer, knocking his forehead against Lance’s gently, being sneakily happy just how much taller he was than Lance. It still gave him great glee, especially since Lance always got annoyed by it.
“I’m sorry. I know with our schedules, dates haven’t exactly been easy. But at least our schedules line up.”
“I guess.” Lance said still pouting.
“Hey, I bet you can’t do my choreo.”
That got Lance’s attention. “I so can. And I can do it better.”
“Really? Prove it.”
Keith let himself be playfully shoved away, letting Lance have full range of the floor as he restarted the music, grabbing his phone. He joined Lance in doing the choreo, ignoring how Lance overexaggerated some of the moves where Keith would be singing. Instead his focus was on his phone, texting Lance’s manager and practical sister Allura. he’d gladly admit it, he didn’t like seeing Lance sad and he’d do whatever possible to keep a smile on his face.
                                                       ____
“My god I can’t believe we ever worried you wouldn’t like him as Lance. doesn’t matter if he’s Isamu or Lance, you fold like wet paper for him.” Pidge teased as the stylist fixed Keith’s clothes.
Ok so maybe he bugged Allura to see if she could convince the people in charge of the order to put Lance and Keith first, even though they had to technically stay to the end. And maybe he also bugged Thace to borrow the car for them to come in so he could take Lance to see the meteor shower. If they could finish in time. Things might be live but there were only so many things they could actually control.
Keith looked over at the former Shinigami. “Don’t you have a brother to go bother?”
“And not bother you? But it’s so fun?”
“Where’s Hunk when you need him?” Keith asked himself, wondering where the much older singer was. Probably shadowing Allura. He was learning to become a manager, though he’d love to see which person would be able to understand their odd family.
“Keith, 2 minutes.” a stage hand called.
Keith glanced over at the TV that showed the stage. Lance and his female backup dancers were reaching the climax of Lance’s song. Just had to get through a song.
“I take it you’d like me to inform Lance to change back into his regular clothes when he gets back into his dressing room.”
Pidge might love teasing Keith and Lance about their relationship, but she had put in a lot of work into trying to get them together.
“If you could.”
with a nod from the stylist, Keith headed out the door and got his mic put on before he passed Lance and Allura.
“Meet me in my room after.” Keith called as he took the stage.
“And now taking the stage. His popularity has yet to waver even after switching labels. Though with a boyfriend like Lance, who could blame him for switching. Please welcome Keith, with his song ECLIPSE.
                                                      ____
“Keith, where are we going? We go back out on stage after the show is over to say goodbye to everyone.” Lance asked, letting his boyfriend pull him out the backdoor. After he performed on stage, Pidge shoved the clothes he came in at him and told him to change. Then she slapped a hat on him and gave him a face mask and shoved him in Keith’s dressing room.
“Stay here till lover boy comes to get you.” she ordered before going to find Matt.
Lance had learned that Pidge’s plans usually didn’t end up like she’d planned but he decided to humour her. She was telling him to wait for Keith, what was the worse that could happen?
Of course, now they were heading for the car they came in, dressed in non-descriptive clothes in hopes to not be noticed by the paparazzi or fans outside the broadcasting station. What had Pidge gotten him into?
“Whoa, there’s question I’m still asking today.” Lance muttered, climbing into the car.
“You’ll see, don’t worry.”
“Still can’t help but be worried.” Lance said, pulling his hat down as the pulled out of their spot and towards the exit. Doing this 3 years and he still couldn’t get used to the amount of fans and such who stood outside the broadcasting station just to get a glimpse of their favourite star. Even if he had been a healthy kid, Lance still couldn’t imagine doing this for hours.
Luck was on their side and they weren’t too noticed when they left. He wouldn’t be surprised though if they still got found out though.
“Are you really not going to tell me where we’re going?” Lance asked, as they started heading on the main roads, away from the city.
“You’ll see. Of course, I just hope we can get their quick. we’re cutting it a bit close.”
Lance for the life of him couldn’t figure out where Keith was taking him. They reached the famed park owned by the Altean Embassy, a place Lance knew well. Covered in juniberry flowers, Lance took pictures here for his Eternal Snow CD cover. But why would Keith bring him here?
Keith opened the sun roof and leaned their chairs back.
“Keith...” Lance started.
“Shh. Look up.”
Lance did and stared at the sky. Nothing was happening and Lance opened his mouth to ask something when he saw it. The streak across the sky and the ones that followed. He felt his eyes widen as he watched the shooting stars dart across the sky.
“Like it?” Keith asked, sounding teasing.
Lance shoved at Keith, who moved away and grabbed Lance’s hand to stop him from hitting him more. Lance laced their fingers together and pulled Keith’s hand closer.
“Yeah you asshole, I like it. Honestly though, I’m glad that we got to do this. The closest thing was sitting in the sun room with Akira to look at the stars.”
“He never took you watch one of these?” Keith asked.
Lance shook his head. “Both him and Rachel were too worried about me getting sick. I always wanted to make a wish on a shooting star.”
“What would you wish for?”
Lance shook his head, squeezing Keith’s hand. “Before it would have been to sing or to find Akira. But I don’t need to make a wish any more. I can sing, I’m healthy, I have all my friends and family. I know Akira cared for me. And I have you, the one thing I needed in the end. What else could I need? Well, other than the ability to write a new song. I swear Kolivan keeps poking me cause I wrote a hit single in 3 days. One time thing, I swear.”
Keith laughed, squeezing Lance’s hand in response. “Only thing I’ll wish for is for us to be happy.”
“Wish come true. With you, I already am.”

Weekly Voltron Fic Recs #56
We’re hitting the busy season at my job tomorrow, so I’m not sure when the next list will be. Happy New Year, anyway!
Rules: You can find past weekly rec lists here, and non-list recs in my general fic rec tag. Also follow @maychorianrecs for individually tagged posts, the easier to search and reblog. This is stuff I like, and I have a huge bias toward Lance, hurt/comfort, and general fluff, in that order. Gen unless otherwise noted. Please comment on the fics if you read and enjoy them!
Disaster Hearts by lieutenantshirogane Words: 719 Author’s Summary: After a mission goes wrong, Coran struggles to let go. Luckily, Kolivan is there to help. My Comments: Not a combo I had considered before, but it’s so good that I just had to read and rec this one. So good.
Bushel and a Peck by isabeau25 Words: 5,158 Author’s Summary: It’s not Hunk’s first job interview, but it might just be his favorite. Series Part 3 of The Five Lions Cafe My Comments: We’re coming up on the busy season at my job, and I was grateful for this spot of pre-emptive stress relief. It’s so lovely and relaxing. Read the whole series.
Cream Waterfalls and Violet Stars and All The Broken ThingsbyMashpotatoeQueen5 Words: 3,185 Author’s Summary: Coran had children once. (A fic about before and after, and the family that our favorite Space Uncle might have lost in his ten thousand years of slumber. Sad… but hopeful ending?) My Comments: Beautiful and haunting vision of Coran’s lost family and how he sees them in the new children he deals with every day. I love the idea of Coran as a family man, and this is a great exploration of that concept.
Shopping for Disaster by Engineer104 Words: 6,108 Author’s Summary: Allura just wanted something sparkly, and Pidge just wanted to get her ears pierced. And they will, after a mishap involving a kid, a Druid, and a Galra ship. My Comments: Bonding time with Pidge and Allura turns into an action/adventure with plenty of badassery from both. Very fun read.
Children of the Empire by foxysquid for Meteorysh Words: 10,147 Author’s Summary: Those who find themselves without parents can turn to Emperor Zarkon for parental guidance instead—but Thace would rather not. Shuttled off to a school for orphaned children, he has to adapt to a strange place, with no one to rely on. Fortunately, he may not be as alone as he thinks he is. Written for Galra Secret Santa, as a gift for meterorysh! There are also some accompanying illustrations, which you can find here. My Comments: Absolutely stunning. Achy and touching, fantastic worldbuilding and characterization. I felt so bad for tiny Thace, losing his parents and shipped off to a school where he had to guard himself every second of every day for fear of being outed as a traitor. The friendship with Ulaz and eventual conclusion were extremely satisfying. This read like the beginning of an original novel, one that I would gladly devour in like a day at a most.
Words of Good Cheer by BossToaster (ChaoticReactions) Words: 31,364 Author’s Summary: 12 days of Advent fics for the winter season 1) The gang gets stuck in their cabin on vacation (Modern AU) 2) The lights and noise of the holiday party prove to be overwhelming for Shiro 3) Ryou and Lance attempt to make Hunk a treat. 4) Shatt - Shiro and Matt get their Christmas snuggle on 5) Shallura - Shiro shows Allura how to make snow angels 6) Sheith - Shiro falls through the ice on a snowy planet and needs to be warmed up 7) Alone at the Garrison over break, Keith and Shiro work together to ignore the holiday 8) Shunkeith - Sweet Tooth AU, Hunk has to stay over when they’re snowed in 9) Baby’s Ryou’s first Christmas 10) Old Friend’s Senior Sanctuary AU - Lance convinced Shiro to help make a 2018 calendar for charity 11) Ryou disappears on an ice planet and Shiro fears the worst 12) Smol!Shiro worries how Santa will find the castle My Comments: Each of these little fics is absolutely adorable and worth reading on their own, and we get twelve for the price of one! Four are shipfics, Shatt, Shallura, and Sheith, plus Shunkeith, but the chapters are labeled so you can easily skip them and stick to the gen if you want.
Vasish by ElementKitsune for AstroPhantom Words: 2,255 Author’s Summary: Sometimes, you just wake up and go see a storm with your favourite princess. (Coran and Allura go stormwatching) My Comments: Sweet Allura and Coran interaction before the fall of Altea. It’s cute, and a little sad, but mostly heartwarming.
Stranger Danger (2) by YukiSetsu Words: 2,076 Author’s Summary: Sequel to Stranger Danger (part 5 of Whumpmas series). After the last incident, Lance didn’t think he’d run into David again anytime soon. He was wrong. My Comments: Sequel to a previously recced fic, and just as good as that one. The realism of this is what hikes up to true levels of disturbing. Great protectiveness from the others.
Epoxy to the World by buckysbears (DrZebra) Words: 2,245 Author’s Summary: Shiro, Pidge, and Keith are forced into a Galra gladiator arena. The two younger paladins see a side of Shiro that he desperately wishes they hadn’t. My Comments: Very intense and emotional. This is pretty much Shiro’s worst nightmare. I don’t blame him for losing himself a little bit along the way.
What’s In A Name? by bouquetofwhoopsiedaisies Words: 1,532 Author’s Summary: “What is ‘Keith’?” Kolivan asked one evening. Keith looked up, blinking in confusion. “I’m Keith.” “Yes, but what is ‘Keith’?” Kolivan pressed.“Well, as far as I know, mostly human, and some Galra.” He really thought Kolivan already knew this. He had been there when Keith’s knife changed form, indicating that he had Galra blood. How much, none of them knew. Kolivan huffed, looking impatient. “The word. ‘Keith’. What does it mean, in your language?” (The Blades get curious about the name of their smallest member. Pidge does some hacking to find out the surprising answer) My Comments: Cute, fluffy, and funny. I like the little bit of Galra culture, too, and Blades being protective and teasing of Keith is always a plus.
Castle Glitch by YukiSetsu Words: 2,394 Author’s Summary: When a bug from Pidge’s laptop accidentally infects the Castle, Lance ends up having to face an extreme gladiator bot without a weapon and armor. As expected, things get dangerous really quick. My Comments: Excellent whump, excellent protective team. I don’t know how many ways to say that I’m enjoying everything this author is doing, but here it is again.
Sick Day by FanaticFangirl2602 for RandomDragonDoodles Words: 2,727 Author’s Summary: Keith should have seen it coming. Actually, he did see it coming. The little voice in the back of his mind had been scolding him for going so hard for the past month, but all he’d done was push it aside and ignore it. A dumb decision. My Comments: Nice little Keith-centric sickfic in a college AU. Hits the spot.
All Swallowed in their Coats by yet_intrepid for stover Words: 2,317 Author’s Summary: Shiro and his new roommate, Matt, would tell you that they are nothing alike: Shiro is an overwhelmed grad student, while Matt is a dropout and avid science youtuber. But then there’s a blizzard, and maybe things change. My Comments: Great modern AU with Shiro and Matt realizing that they have much more in common than they think. Past abuse.
Fruit Loops by SerenePhenix Words: 3,571 Author’s Summary: Shiro never stood a chance. My Comments: Wonderful team-as-family feels in a modern roommate AU. So cute and fluffy and sweet.
It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas by WinterSky101 Words: 2,510 Author’s Summary: In which Pidge is a Christmas elf. ‘Tis the season, after all. My Comments: Cute and sweet and fluffy, with just a touch of angst at the end. 'Tis the season!
If Only In My Dreams by yet_intrepid Words: 5,918 Author’s Summary: The team agrees that Space Christmas isn’t that great with Keith off on missions with the Blade of Marmora. But it’s a lot, lot worse with Keith held hostage by the Galra. My Comments: Awesome whump fic, very snappy pace and intense emotions, and the Christmas theme just heightened the whole thing to the rafters.
In Stitches by A_Zap Words: 6,118 Author’s Summary: With every stitch, a bigger picture can be seen. And each one is made with love.In which everyone on Team Voltron learns more about Lance as he knits the day away. And maybe he learns something too. My Comments: It’s been a while since I’ve read a fic with Lance as a knitter. This was very warm and soft and fluffy, lots of great bonding and sweetness. Very satisfying.
Tradition… Tradition by imperiality Words: 6,802 Author’s Summary: It’s bright! It’s loud! It’s festive! It’s everything Shiro hasn’t really had for Christmas, and it’s wonderful. Then the night winds down. And it’s down to 3. They talk about traditions. Some are lonelier than others. My Comments: The entire team has a lovely Christmas, but the ending conversation between Shiro, Matt, and Keith was the most emotional and heartwarming thing in the fic. Little bit of angst and emotional hurt comfort for lonely boys who miss their homes, but mostly they’re just happy to count their blessings where they are.
One by One by LitDragonWagon Words: 8,512 Author’s Summary: Shiro remains in a state of Not Surprised about all the people who join him in his bed. (Just a cute fic about the paladins platonically sleeping together due to nightmares, and healing.) My Comments: Paladin cuddle puddle to the max. This was very relaxing to read. Brief mention of Klance.
Previously Recced Fics That Updated:
Little Crystals (19627 words) As Color Fades Away (243019 words) This May Sting (6856 words) Gate Keeper (122883 words) Young Blood (9761 words) The Purity of Sin (47036 words) The Sea In Between (81074 words) Beacon (25201 words) Shadows of Stars (95789 words)

Shallura Fic Rec (#2)
Shallura Rec List (#2)
I previously made a list of my favorite Shallura fics, and decided to pull together a new one for you guys!! Hopefully you find something you haven’t read yet. There’s a bit of a lag in Shallura fics lately (and content in general), but there’s absolutely still some good ones! Again, these are categorized to the best of my ability, since some of them can apply to more than one group!
Shallura Rec List (#1) is here
Fluff
Like an Eagle - Revasnaslan
“It turned out that explaining trust falls to an alien was a little bit more difficult than Shiro thought it was going to be.
Written for Shallura Week Day 3 (Trust / Growth)”
Sharing Earth culture, trusting, Allura scares TF out of Shiro
Wingman - thir13enth
“Coran is never subtle. Shallura.”
Supportive Coran, protective space uncle, wingman Coran

When Lance was nine his people became the unwilling participants in a war they didn't ask for (they could have gone about the rejection a bit more tactfully, though).
When he was eleven he watched his cousin get ritually slaughtered and magically drained.
When he was thirteen he started his training two years early in hopes of getting strong enough to protect his family.
When he was fifteen, his older brother was killed.
When he was seventeen, he enrolled in the Galaxy Garrison, hoping to fade out of the minds of those who put him on a pedestal, and live a normal life. Piloting a giant sentient robotic lion into space and winding up in another war against a ten thousand year old sourpuss purple rat face who doesn't know how to chill wasn't really part of the plan, but...here he is anyways. So far from home that he legitimately cannot even picture the distance in his mind.
And that is not a good thing. At all.
Especially when he kinda sorta needs to be at least on the same planet as his sister if he wants to remain in control of powers he has been struggling to understand his whole life. But at least he's got the team, right? At least he's got Keith to tease endlessly, right?
Right?

Louder, My ‘Lee
Enjoy some definitely pre-established!Klance and I-don’t-even-know-when!Shallura.
Title: Louder, My ‘Lee
Themes: ‘Ler/Implied-ticklish!Keith, ‘Lee/ticklish!Lance, ‘Ler/Implied-ticklish!Shiro, ‘Lee/ticklish!Allura, Keith being mean and teasy, seriously there’s lots of verbal teasing, Shallura being fluffy, Shiro and Allura being dorks, Lance being most of the ‘lees in the community, Hunk and Pidge also being bros, Lance being adorable and kind-of insecure about liking The Thing™, the author shamelessly projecting their life onto characters for the sake of writing and being put into Such A Mood because of it, and a contest that would Kill The Author Personally, fuck this is so improbable regardless of anything don’t look at me, but hey thanks for 50 followers i can’t believe how thirsty we all are for klance content, also i’m like 99% sure there won’t be a part 2 because of how similar it would be to this one
Rating: Pretty tame but… Keith is a teasy bastard… it’s all SFW tho seriously
Word Count: app. 2.5k
(A/N: Yes, that is how they catch shrimp, yes that is what they call it, and yes I had to sit through a documentary that it was part of while my father was right next to me so… fun times. But I guess it paid off lmao)
The six – sans Coran who currently had the slipperies – were eating dinner. Naturally, Hunk made the food at this point and their days of Food Goo were long in the past. They’d pushed the chairs closer together so the three chairs on each side were nearly touching, since now it felt weird having so much space between them.
Keith sat in-between Pidge and Lance on one side while Shiro sat in-between Hunk and Allura on the other. They all ate their food happily with little bits of conversation popping up here and there, but mostly the hall was quiet as they were enjoying their dinner.
“Mmm, this is fantastic, Hunk, one of your best dishes yet!” Lance mused as he took another large bite.
Hunk smiled proudly. “I figured you’d like it, Lance. It was the closest to seafood as I could find.”
“If we were back on Earth, I’d never know it wasn’t shrimp! It tastes like home, man,” he praised, taking another chomp.
“It really is excellent, Hunk,” Allura chimed in. “But what’s shrimp?” she asked none of them in particular.
Shiro chuckled fondly. “They’re these little animals that live in the ocean. People catch them with these special nets and then you can cook them in a lot of different ways. I could be wrong but I think they’re one of the most popular kinds of seafood back on Earth.”
Pidge piped up from her bite of food. “Wait, ‘special’ nets? I didn’t know they were any different.”
Lance felt his face grow just a shade pinker, and he heard Keith snicker under his breath next to him, but whether Keith noticed the blush, or merely knew what Lance was thinking was unknown to him. Both were possible. Living on an island with lots of seafood had very few disadvantages, but this was one: Lance knew a lot about catching seafood. The blue paladin was mentally begging for no one to explain it to Pidge.
Of course, Shiro decided to. “Well, I don’t quite remember all the details, but the nets have fronds or extra strings or something on them to, heh, ‘agitate’ the shrimp to pick them up in the net.” He smirked. “They call it ‘The Shrimp Tickler,’ because apparently shrimp are ticklish.”
Pidge, Keith, and Hunk all laughed. Lance forced a few uncomfortable and nervous chuckles from his reddened face, and Allura just looked like she was thinking.
“What’s up Allura?” Pidge asked, smiling.
“I don’t think that ‘shrimp’ – at least the ones I’m familiar with – would have an advanced enough nervous system to feel such a thing.” She looked at the oldest paladin. “Shiro, you aren’t playing another trick on me, are you?”
Lance – who was now of course hyper-alert at this point – saw the predatory grin on Shiro’s face, and would’ve hid his own face if he wanted to call attention to himself.
Shiro turned towards the alien princess. “How could you accuse me of such a thing?” He said with mock-hurt. “I mean if we have to test my statement—”
He reached out and squeezed her side, and she squeaked. “Shiro! I’m not—” but she quickly dissolved into giggles as he ran his fingers up and down her sides.
“See Allura? Shrimps are ticklish!” he smiled, laughing along with her.
“I cahan behe tahahaller than yohohu!”
“Aw yeah, get her Shiro!” Hunk shouted, laughing too.
Lance was trying to ignore it but knew he was staring. He knew it was only a matter of time until someone noticed him…
“Like what you see?” Keith whispered into his ear, and Lance knew that voice very well.
Lance froze and didn’t respond, but a small smile leaked past his lips and betrayed his feelings. He bit his lip to try to hide it but Keith took notice of that, too.
“Hm? Are you jealous of Allura?” Keith said just loud enough to put a teasing tone into his voice, but not nearly loud enough to be heard by the others.
Luckily for Lance, the others were too preoccupied to notice: Shiro was still tickling Allura, and Pidge and Hunk were betting each other on if Allura was going to turn the tables. No one noticed the boy squirming in his chair with a face that almost matched his “tormentor’s” lion.
“Do you wish you were Allura and I was Shiro?” Keith teased in that same voice, and snaked his arm around Lance’s waist and lightly drummed him fingers against the taller boy’s side while pulling him just a little closer. Lance bit his lip harder and tried to not show anything was happening. Keith knew from the silence that Lance was pretty much dying (re: melting) on the inside.
When they were alone Lance wouldn’t even try to stay quiet because he didn’t care if he was laughing during his arguments or not, so he could refute anything and hold his own (more or less). But now? Lance was trying as hard as he could not to do anything so no one would notice.
How funny, Keith thought, amused to no end by it, he loves being the center of attention but now he can’t stand it. He was so proud of that statement he had formed in his mind, that he whispered it into Lance’s ear. He made sure to brush his lips and his breath against the blue paladin’s ever-so-sensitive ears as he did so, just to make him shiver and nearly leak out a giggle.
“Why don’t you laugh for me?” Keith teased softly, then nearly laughed himself as he got another thought. “Maybe Shiro and I should have a contest… who can get their ‘lee to laugh louder?” He saw Lance’s face grow redder than he thought possible, maybe it was the notion of the suggestion itself or the fact that he called Lance his ‘lee. He changed his hand so it was teasing at bare skin under Lance’s shirt, just ever-so-softly tickling above the waistband of his jeans.
Lance may have been yelling “no” in his mind repeatedly after that suggestion, but he loved what was happening. Not necessarily the fact that it was in front of everyone – that was awfully mean of Keith – but… he really loved Keith and he also really loved being tickled so he’d take it. He knew Keith would stop if he could tell Lance wasn’t enjoying himself, so he wasn’t too worried. But also… he wasn’t sure how much Keith was joking about that little “game” that he suggested. He knew that Keith knew it would embarrass him, but if somebody noticed how much “trouble” Lance was having then… oh god he hoped no one would notice. That just might give Keith the opportunity to do so.
Keith’s hand shot to Lance’s stomach as he saw that Shiro’s hand had switched to Allura’s. Allura’s laughter increased in volume as Lance nearly jumped out of his skin, a sharp laugh escaping his lips before he slammed them shut again and was left shaking in his seat. Luckily for him, Allura drowned him out sound-wise. Unluckily for him, Pidge saw the motion out of the corner of her eye and noticed that Keith’s hand mirrored Shiro’s. She met eyes with Keith and smirked. She met eyes with Shiro and raised her eyebrows, seemingly having a nonverbal conversation with both of them. She looked back at Hunk, who smiled a knowing smile.
“So, my little green friend,” Hunk began, much to the blue paladin’s chagrin, “shall we propose a new wager?”
Lance’s stomach dropped. Nooooo…
“And what might that wager be, Hunk?” Pidge asked with mock-innocence, fully well-aware of what was about to happen.
“Well, I bet Shiro can make Allura laugh louder.”
“Pssh no way, Keith can totally make Lance laugh louder,” she laughed mischievously.
Hunk smirked, “hm I don’t know, he’s being pretty quiet right now…”
Keith chimed in with a darker tone, but laughing as well as he still worked Lance’s skin beneath his nimble fingers. “He was just being quiet because he didn’t want anyone to hear him laugh. Give me a second—”
Keith snaked an arm behind him, pulled him closer, and now used both hands now to tickle Lance’s stomach as the blue paladin erupted into a fit of giggles. He tried grabbing at Keith’s hands, but the red paladin noticed that once Lance actually managed to grab a hold of his wrists, he didn’t move them away. If anything, he pulled them closer. Keith tried not to make a sound of endearment at the action, or perhaps lack-of-action, and instead turned it against him.
“You like this, huh? Not even trying to move my hands away?” he teased as Lance’s laughter increased. He looked over to see Shiro whispering in Allura’s ear as well, and the red and black paladins smiled at each other for a moment before returning to their missions.
“You just want me to tickle you,” he whispered matter-of-factly. Lance’s face was beet-red. Keith knew just how much teasing got to him and a part of him almost felt a little bad, but then the sympathy went away when he remembered really how much Lance was loving this, and then Keith’s stomach jumped a little when he thought of how much revenge Lance would be exacting later. But no matter, there were more important things at hand.
“Come on, you can be louder than that,” he whispered again. “I can move to somewhere more… ticklish… if it’ll help.” He drew out the word that he knew Lance would be affected by, before slowly moving the quick fingers up his sides. Lance began to twist and squirm in his seat as his giggles grew into fuller laughs, and Keith heard that he was less-reserved about it now.
“I know how much you love this… being at my mercy, feeling my fingers dance all over you, the electrifying sensations… and I know you love to laugh, Lance.” His hands were coming closer and closer to Lance’s armpits, and all things combined were creating desperate-sounding laughter from the blue paladin’s mouth. Keith knew that even though Lance’s laughter may have made it seem so, he hadn’t even come close to having had enough yet. All their times before had led Keith to know exactly when to stop, and Lance was nowhere near that.
“Come on my ‘lee, laugh for me. You’re so ticklish Lance, I don’t know how you’re holding out…”
Lance’s mind was turning to mush, but he was in heaven. He was maintaining enough composure to avoid curling up into Keith though; he wanted to keep a little shred of dignity. He wanted to keep just how much he liked… that… unknown to the others. He didn’t care that Keith knew, obviously, but Lance himself thought it was weird, even though Keith never made him feel weird about it. But who knows what the others would think?
His heart jumped when he realized Keith called him his ‘lee again… he did like being called that…
At least he knew he could get Keith back for this later.
He was writhing in his seat, and he opened his eyes to try to see Allura, who was in a similar but far worse situation to him. Shiro was using his Galra arm to gently but firmly hold both of her wrists above her head while he used his free arm to tickle her armpits, rapidly switching between them. Her laughter rang sweet and high above Lance’s due to pitch, but they just about matched in volume.
One thing Lance noticed – before Keith increased pressure on Lance’s armpits forcing him to wrench his eyes closed again – was that Shiro had a big, dopey lovey-dovey grin on his face. God, it felt so good to see that man in love.
“Come on Lance, we might win,” Keith whispered. “Thank god you’re so ticklish…”
Keith figured it was time to add another punch, and he pulled Lance onto his lap. Still tickling under his arms, he started nibbling the blue paladin’s neck.
Lance nearly screamed with laughter and covered his face, but Keith persisted. Lance knew Keith wouldn’t push him too far, so by this point he didn’t have anything left to be worried about.
Keith looked over and saw Shiro was slowing his attack. He didn’t ease up on Lance just yet, however, because he wanted to win… but also because of the fact that he knew Lance was absolutely in love with this.
When Allura’s laughter was nearly gone, Keith began letting up. Not because he thought Lance had had enough, he still had a very, very long way to go before that point, but because the blue paladin was probably embarrassed and Keith didn’t want it so all the attention was on him – then he might not actually enjoy it. He stopped nibbling Lance’s neck and started nuzzling it instead, and he slowed his fingers until they stopped. He pulled his hands back, and chuckled at how Lance near-imperceptibly moved back towards his hands in their absence. Keith looked at the others with a big smile on his face. Actually, everyone had a big smile on their face.
“So, who won?”
Hunk and Pidge shared a glance. “Well, it was close for a while,” Hunk began, lacing his fingers together in front of him very seriously.
“But Lance was louder by far,” Pidge finished in an equally theatrical manner.
“Oh, come on,” Shiro laughed, helping Allura sit up straight again and then massaging her shoulders to alleviate any resulting tension.
“It was a good fight, Shiro. We’ll beat them next time,” Allura said playfully, but an edge of seriousness could be heard. Shiro was amazed that she actually wanted to win… and to do it again?
Keith grinned at Lance and slung his arm around the blue paladin’s shoulder. “Oh, so there’ll be a Round 2 eventually?”
Lance’s face reddened again, but he smiled sheepishly. “Oh, shut it, Keith.” His smile brightened suddenly as a light bulb went off in his head. He smirked at Keith, then the princess. “You know Allura, I think next time we should switch it up, and the two of us can see who can make our guys laugh louder. Whaddaya say, Keith? Shiro?”
Lance shoved Keith lightly, and he laughed at how Keith’s eyes widened for a moment before he stopped them. He also saw how Keith twitched his head so his hair fell over a good portion of his face to hide the encroaching blush.
Shiro’s face dusted pink, but Allura chimed in before he could say anything. “That’s a great idea, Lance! Besides, it’s only fair, right Shiro?” She looked up at him.
Shiro stammered out something about… something. It seemed even the notion of turning the tables was enough to render him a blushy, stuttering mess.
Allura giggled at his reaction. “If you’re doing that already, I’m sure we’ll win!”
“Mmm, I don’t know, Princess, I think I’ve got it in the bag. I’ll definitely win,” Lance said casually, stretching his tired muscles and leaning to whisper in Keith’s ear in a manner not unfamiliar:
“I’m sure of it.”

Right?
