i don't particularly like making statements like this bc i generally don't like focusing on bad stuff but the ai thing is... really bad. it's so sad that art gets the short end of the stick first, when ai is supposed to help people, not make them miserable. still, there is something i want to say
it's really hard to make peace with the fact that things are "just like this now", especially when you're any kind of artist yourself. i want to say that writing was impacted first, and maybe it was, but both images and text got decimated at basically the same time, but honestly it doesn't even matter anymore. everyone is in danger and, while art gets at least SOME form of protection (nightshade and glaze), writing is still very easy to rip off. there is no safe place left, it has to be everywhere now, right?
but i urge you not to give up. i, for one, won't leave tumblr until it burns in hell, and i might burn in hell with it, but i've met so many wonderful people here, this might be the only place i feel safe on the internet (relatively and comparatively), and i know that we're strong enough to survive this. we know how to be human, and art is the core of humanity - so we will fight and believe in the better future. not "until something happens", just period
life is hard right now, but we're tough. we've fought harder battles than this. please don't give up on your art, regardless of support or social media. ai is not undefeatable. there is hope, always

Again this is just a personal opinion but i have never wanted to live in my whole life. Idk how others do it. Like being afraid of death. Whenever i go thru a near death experience I’m like <3 finally <3 but i still survive which sucks on so many levels. Like i want a very fast death. Like its so instant u can’t feel it.

Beryl Shores AU - Moondrop’s Special Diet
cw: starvation mention, cannibalism (but is it really cannibalism if you’re technically different species? hmm)
Moondrop eats the dead.
Moondrop’s corpse-eating addiction started many many years ago when the isles were mostly bare. Moon would save all the food for Sunrise so he could eat on the many weeks they’d go starving, but eventually was forced eat a human body when the circumstances came about.
Then it just kept happening - he’d keep his hunger at bay until he was forced to save himself, and that loop kept going until eventually he started getting a taste for it. By the time food was bountiful, he didn’t care for it as much.
Sunrise finds this a little morbid/disturbing, but not overly bad, more of just something to work on. He won’t intervene unless Moondrop wants him to, and so far, there are no signs.
It comes to him in hunger pangs, or at least what he interprets as hunger. In reality, it’s more of a physical anxiety response the same way humans experience headaches and stomach-aches from stress. In an attempt to end the pain he just keeps eating and eating until it goes away, so he just thinks it’s the flesh soothing it.
Does he feel guilty? Oh, it tears him up from the inside, but he’s gotten so good at lying about it he’s fooled even himself.
The two of them find no issue in dragging sailors to their watery graves or coaxing an islander to jump to their death. It’s their territory, and they can do whatever they want in it. That’s how it’s been, that’s how it always will be.
But… Moondrop can’t help but feel a little sick about actually eating the corpses. It’s not necessarily that he sees it as wrong, he just doesn’t like it. Something about how easily they tear apart, how they no longer writhe on the sea floor, how they look so much like their living counterparts up above who have a fighting chance.
They’re dead, it’s not like they’re using their bodies anymore. He’ll threaten and flirt about how much he loves the taste of flesh and bone, despite it all. He’s a predator, believes he’s a predator, and is gonna act like a predator. The guilt haunts his nightmares and his guts in hunger pangs, but he’ll still laugh when someone’s bleeding out because of him.

do you know what you're all right about solo fans not having any critical thinking skills because i made a friend, who isn't a fan and who doesn't know anything about harry or his team or whatever, watch the mfasr mv and she got the point of it one go. she caught on about how predatory the industry is and how it tries to exhaust and exploit the talent and even after they're gone it still tries to exploit the brand and name and how entitled fans can be and how they think that just because they're a fan they're owed something from the artist and expect the artist to deliver to their expectations always and how all of these reasons are active contributing factors to the narrative and the reality the video talks about. and if she can get it without any prior knowledge, i think the video is very on point and obvious and that anyone who doesn't get it is being willfully ignorant and obtuse about it and just doesn't want their fantasy ruined.
