September 6, 2023 • Wednesday
Today was a really productive day in my opinion! I successfully completed all of my morning routine, and also got in a lot of studying done!
@studaxy and I started Duolingo as well!! I had started learning French way back in 2020 and I was able to read French way before choosing it as a language in school. I got back my language learning bug soooo wish me luck in that :3

Things I did today:
Thirty minutes of Duolingo
An hour of research for my English assignment. The topic of the assignment is "Performing Arts and the Freedom of Expression".
Two hours of physics — got some Module 3 reading done. Rotational motion is a vast concept but I'm pushing through somehow.

Python Notes and Resources
Hey! I made a bunch of Python notes a bit ago and decided to share them. They're really beginner friendly, and include a bunch of external sources that I used and continue using at the end. Hope this helps someone!

Listen if you’re going to give us a first born anyway I want hiccup an jacks, insufferable dads is my white whale and oh boy I’ve been on this ship for months
I gotchu. Thank you for the ask btw! It gave so many ideas!
Meet KIID! A shipwrecked child found by dragon-trappers. She's 14 now, but when she was taken in by some Dragon Trappers five years ago, no one knew her name, not even herself. So, they just started calling her Kid. She made the name her own, though, and added an extra 'i' to make things interesting. Pronounced Keed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's very fun to draw, ngl!! Might bring her up again.
Have some more character info!
Meet Kiid, the human personification of Everything All at Once!
-The particular group of dragon trappers that found her wasn't a hard-core one. Most of the people in the group were there working mostly as a necessity. Meaning, that while she didn't grow up in the most peaceful environments, it wasn't all bad. There was some sort of support.
-Helped around back when she lived with the Trappy Guys. Multitasking is just tasking.
-Moves a lot. Talks a lot. Adhd vibes. Hiccup and her bounce ideas off one another like a bullet train. Jack thinks its very fun to watch.
-HER SPEAR! She made it. She started off with plain pine sticks, using it to jump around from place to place and smack the occasional weirdo and/or fish. Eventually, she developed a technique for jumping longer distances, and crafted her spear to aid her. It serves as a weapon and for traveling causes. She loves feeling the air and the rush of her speedy travels. Jack and Hiccup saw her jumping once, sixteen feet down as she cackled, and thought, Yeah, She is One Of Us alright. Jack asked her for pointers with his own staff.
-She's been taught a couple of things here and there with the help of The Trapper Guys, but she hasn't got anything 100% mastered. Prob because she didn't have someone to help her master something in particular. She makes do with what she has. Always willing to learn.
-Couple of scratches on her face from a dragon on a rampant from a couple years ago. She thinks it makes her look more menacing and kinda cool.
-Kinda weird at times. A lil' crazy. A lil' wild. A lil' maniac with mostly good intentions. The bad ones come in the form of some pranks here and there which Jack and the twins adore. They are quite the duo/trio. Hiccup joins her pranks sometimes. Those times are the most impressive, destructive, yet funnier ones.
-Hiccup gave her a notebook she carries everywhere, all the time. Doesn't let anyone see. Punched Jack once on reflex when he went to check it out.
-Right side of her hair more cut out than the right. She has a couple of braids at her sides.

So Long, Evernote
Evernote (EN) was great.
I'd used it since 2010 when I was in University. A good friend recommended it to me.
At some point, I started paying for the service. It was about $3 a month, I think.
After half a decade, I took a hiatus to try out Google Keep. I survived for a year, because I initially didn't have much note taking requirements. But plain-text is messy. And my ideas and notes became more complex and needed some structure to sort it out.
So I went back to Evernote.
But recently there was a tremendous price hike. $10+ a month for US, Canadian, and European (western bloc) users!
If users from the English/Western market are the majority users and are frightened by the pricing, it is not good for the business.
I had to leave Evernote.
What are good choices? I offer you the following:
OneNote - free, traditional note taking app
UpNote - affordable app most similar to Evernote
NotesNook - affordable, privacy-focused app. But unstable and doesn't support checklists
AmpleNote - task / journal app that is v.responsive but doesn't support checklists
Craft - beautiful journal app
I had some additional requirements (which may not be applicable to you):
Web App
Offline Mode
Version History
Checklists which are not Tasks
So I narrowed it down to OneNote - which is my anchor app is everything goes wrong, and Craft - which is my aspirational app if everything goes right.
I'm still evaluating Craft!

09.21.22 | Getting sh!t done
Yesterday I got a good chunk of homework done, but I still have a ton more to do. I got my accommodations meeting done yesterday instead of Tuesday and will hopefully get extensions on this week’s work so that I can mentally regroup. I used my walking sticks yesterday due to weakness in my bad leg and I got treated very differently. It made me so insecure.

What's that smoke? Oh . . . it's my brain-
August 22, 2023
Started with arrays today, easy peasy. Jammed to Speak Now TV with @studaxy and ended up quoting every sad line to them because THEY LEFT ME ALONE (no they didn't I'm just being dramatic.
Uni was fun, I made some friends :3 and helped them get their code right during practical sessions.
Tumblr media
Things I did today:
Read some theory of C programming from the text
Tried understanding multiplexers in the library. I found a book that looked like it would help me — it was too complicated. Need to find a new book tomorrow. (Uni 'B' really be having tough concepts with no explanation)
Started theory on single dimensional arrays
Fried my brain and now I'm tired. And sleepy.

A lot of ADHD'ers think in terms of associations, jumping from tangent to tangent, rather than straight, logical lines.
This fundamentally changes so many things, and note taking is just one of them. Methods of notetaking that work for non-ADHD'ers may not work as well for us.
Simply writing down what's happening, or the steps of a process in logical order, may not actually help us remember, but having a web of connections, often some combination of words, drawings, questions, and experiences may help support our memory and recall in a way that other notetaking methods don't

Effective Note Taking: Tips to Improve Your Study Habits
Note taking is an essential part of studying, and developing your own note taking style can significantly improve your learning experience. However, note taking should not just be a process of copying information from the board or textbook. It should be personalised to your learning style and optimised for effective retention and understanding. Here are some tips to improve your note taking habits:
Structure Your Notes for Organisation and Revision
Your notes should have a clear structure with headings, subheadings, and lists for better organisation and revision. Writing notes as if you were explaining the topic to someone who does not take the course is a good practice to ensure that your notes are clear and logical.
Additionally, labelled diagrams and concept maps can help you visualise and understand complex information. Studies have shown that visual aids, such as images and diagrams, are easier to remember and recall than text alone.
2. Highlight and Use Colours to Emphasise Key Points
Highlighters and coloured pens are not just for making pretty notes. They can also help you categorise and emphasise key points, making them easier to remember. Develop your own colour coding system, using different colours for different topics, definitions, or important information. Symbols, such as stars or underlines, can also be used to create your own coding system.
3. Use Your Own Words and Avoid Copying Verbatim
Avoid the temptation to copy everything word for word from the board or textbook. Instead, focus on deciphering the key information and paraphrasing it into your own words. This not only saves time but also helps you consolidate your understanding of the topic. You can still incorporate high-level vocabulary and terminology into your notes but try to write most of the content in your own words for better comprehension.
Tumblr media
4. Consider Using Cornell Notes
Cornell notes are a popular note taking system recommended by universities such as Cornell and Harvard. They include a heading at the top, a column on the side for keywords, main ideas, and questions, a large section in the middle for class notes, and a summary at the end for revision. However, note taking is a personal process, and you should incorporate elements that work for you.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, developing your own note taking style can significantly improve your study habits. Remember, note taking should be a personalised process that suits your learning style and helps you retain and understand the material better.
