How fucking big and cool and smart and handsome of Tumblr to deactivate the blogs of CSA survivors and local anime shippers, while doing absolutely the fuck nothing about all the porn and actual child predators telling kids to kill themselves over fictional characters! Very sexy of you! You really are the Cool~ Hip~ social media website! I bet your dads actually might love you now!
Hey while your just randomly deleting people... Would you mind dealing with the fucking PORN BOTS we've been begging you about for almost 15 fucking years?
Tumblr media
Go deepthroat a baguette, assholes.

I'm so sad and so angry about the choices Tumblr has decided to make. We came back to have somewhere safe to vent about hard and potentially upsetting topics, as well as our life experience. TikTok was obviously not the place for that, with good people getting deactivated left and right while neo Nazis were allowed to keep their profiles. Twitter is hostile and we never really learned how to use it. Tumblr was familiar and we thought it would be safe. Then the new friends we made started getting termed just like on TikTok. And just like TikTok, reporting literal death threats often gets you nowhere.
People can no longer safely even talk about their own traumas with CSA and we certainly no longer feel safe talking about things like POCD, pro fiction, pro para, etc here. We've made an aethy under the same name and we're working on moving over there more fully. (Aethy is great but we don't like change and learning new websites is hard). We'll still be here, but this isn't a safe space to talk openly anymore.
I hope the antis enjoy this moment and I hope they feel stabbed in the back when this enforcement of censorship comes for them too. Because it absolutely will. They wanted a pure and clean Tumblr, they're getting it. We'll see how much they actually end up enjoying getting what they wished for.

When backing up your blog with IFTTT to another tumblr, is there any way to mass-reblog posts that you made before setting it up? Or does that have to be done manually?
(Sent this as an ask in case your answer can help other people too! <3)
There's no way to use IFTTT to back up posts you made before you started using it, unfortunately.
what you CAN do is export your tumblr in the settings menu, and import the file it gives you to a wordpress account.
That'll give you everything that's on the blog.

With the situation here on tumblr.hell continuing to degenerate, I'd like to invite all my followers who are 18+ to come join us on Aethy. It's a very welcoming site, the community is small but very friendly and anti-harassment/anti-censorship. I will continue to be on here as well, though I probably won't be very active. It's been fun and I love you guys, but tumblr has become too hostile for me to maintain my presence here full time. I'll link my Aethy below, hope to see you guys there!

Some people I follow are changing platforms and I get why. I'm not affected by it, but I see it.
I am so tired of constanly changing platforms, but I'm also tired of beeing too scared to post because of a hostile community and a platform that is working against its users. It just keeps happening.
I don't have a following on here so it doesn't really matter if I just switch over. It's just annoying. I will keep alternatives on my mind for now.

my blog is tos compliant so i'm not worried about being hit by the term wave, however i'm still going to link my aethy account because aethy is really great. i've been on it since december and it's a lovely place where you don't have to worry about being judged for what you're into.

Over the coming weeks I'm going to be moving all the content on my OC fanfic blog (which has mostly sat unused), either to a wiki I set up for it, or to this blog, or both
I don't often talk about my OCs and the progression of my writing with anyone but a few select friends, and it's just sitting there, doing nothing.
Plus, Tumblr's not exactly a stable place to store information, even though I do keep backups, especially as it seems that acknowledging that certain things, ranging from bad to good, happen is getting people banned. (In an attempt to not get banned myself, the closest I feel like I can get to referencing this is stuff like people under 18 realising things about themselves, taking part in those things with other under 18s, and people talking about their experience as an unwilling participant in that sort of activity with an adult when they were a child)
Frankly, as a queer person who definitely did realise that stuff before age 18, in a country where the age of consent for MSM used to be higher than for other variations of relationship, this change is generally making me feel uncomfortable, and I'm not sure if I'm going to remain active here.
I've heard that Aethy is a good mastodon instance when it comes to not censoring that sort of thing, but is also more geared towards fiction, and the rules also state that you will be banned if you have 'prolonged contact with minors in other Mastodon instances', which to me seems quite creepy, and antithetical to the ideas of intergenerational friendship being able to be carried out without becoming creepy, and seems to promote the idea that adults and children must be kept separate (to a quite strong degree), as adults are only capable of one sort of thought around children. Plus, it seems more geared towards those who would enjoy certain types of fictional relationships that I do not enjoy, and I mean that in a 'the content is put on there, and you can't really avoid it' way, which you could do if people on Tumblr tagged their shit, so I don't think that's the right move for me.
So, if I do stop being active on Tumblr, or anything, I don't know where you'll find me. I have an unused (except to follow people and for DMing) Instagram, but I don't think that's a fit for me, either, especially as it's all image based, a Twitter I haven't used really since Musk, and I think Twitter is worse than Tumblr, a Discord, which might be the right thing to move to for most communication, and a YouTube channel, but that's for videos only, and of course there's my AO3 for writing.
So, yeah. A bit of an update there. I hope it doesn't come to anything, I hope that at least some of the more extreme stuff is just rumours, but this change is not good, and I hope that Tumblr walks back some of it. Survivors of abuse need safe spaces to be able to talk about their abuse, and the idea that being queer is an adult topic is, quite frankly, homophobic.
Nothinghere2023, the name I've seen people give this purge, is reepeating the exact same shit as strikethrough/boldthrough. When people say that purges meant to remove certain types of fictional content always impact on the queer community and survivors, this is what we mean.
