I'm also gonna ask about your novel ocs!! I don't know them, so I'm gonna go ahead and ask one basic questions for all four characters you mentioned dalia maya paola and luca: glance! What stands out most about them/what's their general appearance?

Okay! Let's do this! Here is my very first concept art for these folks

glance: At first glance, what stands out most about your OC's appearance? What's their distinguishing feature?

Paola: Her height, her notorious penchant for black attires, and just how intimidating she is, which is in no small part thanks to the reputation that precedes her. Her name and face both feature on several wanted posters in the state of Soldado. People move aside and crane their neck up when she rides into a town.

Dalia: Her striking green eyes and her smile. Being blonde is also not that common round these parts, but it's really her grinning bright eyes that stand out. She is an actress, and she knows well how to be charming, but her pretty looks make the job easier. She always wears the same necklace, and lovely dresses.

Maya: All "faeric" races face some amount of prejudice here, and 90% of the population is mixed race, so some physical traits are more or less desirable than others. Maya just doesn't look like they have any human blood in them at all (they do, in fact), and there are very few "goblin" in the city (the local name for the race is "chaneque," if I don't decide for a more fantasy name, but it can translate as goblin). Their lilac eyes, big ears and greyish-blue skin, all very goblin features here, are exactly what stand out.

Luca: The quality and style of his clothes. Tall (not taller than Paola) and lanky, he is an elegant, dandy man. I was on video call with @feralrosie and she says he looks kind, so I guess that's also something that stands out at a glance. I'm not sure yet if he has a more humanlike, brown skin tone, or a more faeric/fantastic skintone such as the lavender on this pic. To be defined, and I haven't yet fully decided the range of skintones for my elves. (The problem with too much freedom is too many options)

D'var

D'var is the one of the last members of a shape shifting race called the Despartans. She'd rather be left alone to sip her tea and contemplate life in peace, but that's a hard thing to do when you're one thousand years old and an admiral in command of a ship. D'var struggles with letting people in, a product of losing so many close to her, but tries her best. A divided front, after all, can not win a war. She is the former avatar of the God of Dark Matter.

Issi Eden

Issi is a half human, half Elarite engineer. She struggles to accept her Elarite heritage and does so in her own ways, such as wearing jewelry after the destruction of Elara and practicing, if tentatively, the language of the Killot tribe. She, along with Despi and Kede have accents similar to British. She is the leader of the Assassins between Stars and the avatar for the God of Stars.

Qualit Dekappel

Qualit is an Elarian language specialist who has seen her fair share of the war front. During her time serving on the exoplanet Kronec IV she was involved in an accident that burned off half of her glowing freckles, the Elarian trademark and often compared to a mood ring, as the brightness changes with one's mood. Qualit can be harsh and abrasive and difficulty making friends, choosing to stick with a select group of people. Her skin is naturally pale, but is permanently tanned from working commonly with extremely high heat light sources. She is the second in command of the Dragonfly Rebellion and avatar for the God of Creation.

Tetia Soren

Tetia is simply the human disguise of the god Poweri, deity of Power. She's slithered through civilization, seeking revenge on her former lover, Vesper, the god of Dark Matter. Tetia is a member of the deadly trio called the Assassins between Stars, a skilled killer and wielder of impossible power, it's in her name after all.

Mikayla Ria

Mikayla is a human hairdresser who specializes in any kind of braids. She, just as any other solider upon joining the Shadow Army, had her past memories erased from her mind. She doesn't know exactly who she is, and mourns the girl she was, even if she never knew that girl. She is the final member of the Assassins between Stars.

Maddi Dabiri

Maddi is a Human, Parsi Indian to be specific, pilot. One of the most brilliant pilots of her generation to be exact. She enjoys a quick recreational flight with combat shuttles and dhansak. Maddi tries to keep up with her parents legacy, and does so admirably, but can't help but feel something's missing. She is a member of the Dragonfly Rebellion.

Kede Atear

Kede is a half human, half Kiden neurosurgeon. They are an ambulatory wheelchair user because of a rare condition called Cronahic Elipseas. Kidens are naturally translucent humanoids and have significantly less dense bones, along with telepathy. As a result, Kede has Kiden bones and emphatic abilities but in a human body, causing them chronic pain. They are a talented neurosurgeon specializing in electrical trauma to hippocampus pathways. They are a member of the Dragonfly Rebellion.

Despi Mikka

Despi is a half human half Kiden scientist who specializes in dark matter. His Kiden side presents itself in incredibly strong emphatic abilities and slightly less dense bones, but not enough to cause chronic pain. He is a member of the Dragonfly Rebellion.

OC Design questions for Paola and Dalia: glance, stature, day, arms, bling and hair

stature: What's your OC's body type? How tall are they? Do they wear clothing to accentuate their look or do they try to mask it?

I created concept art so I could answer this ask visually, yay! Luca definitely accentuates his height with well-tailored suits, and Dalia accentuates her curves and cleavage with well-chosen dresses. Maya prefers not to wear anything flashy, and Paola often wears long skirts that accentuate her height as well (not on purpose).

day: What does your OC wear on a normal day? Why do they default to those clothes? Do they wear similar things, or do they change it up?

Paola wears black on the regular, and a black sombrero as well. She defaults to those clothes because she damn well pleases. Black is her thing, man, what can I tell you? Hehe. I mean, there might be more reasons, but I'll keep some secrets. She does not carry a wardrobe around and is constantly on the move, so she tends to wear the same clothes for a while.

Dalia enjoys wearing bright-colored dresses with pretty patterns or flower embroidery. She has a variety of dresses to choose from, not because she's wealthy but because she takes excellent care of her clothes. Her mother is a seamstress and Dalia learned quite a bit growing up.

Maya wears working clothes. Pants, a shirt, a poncho, goggles. On their time off, they probably wouldn't wear anything too different either, but they'd favor comfort over style. They have some decent clothes and they can match colors, but other than that they don't really care about fashion.

Luca wears suits nearly every day, on account of being a.... lawyer. Yes. One of my main characters is a lawyer. He is also rich, so his suits are tailor-made with fine fabric imported from Tevet (in the old continent). His elegant, leather shoes are also imported from the Cinco Islands in Laus. On the weekend, he'd wear more relaxed clothes -- a silk shirt, comfortable pants, smth like that.

bling: What jewelry does your OC wear? Does it have any meaning?

Paola and Maya wear very little jewelry. I didn't give Luca any in the artwork, but I actually think he'd look great with a necklace and some dangly golden chains, and a few fancy rings. I also didn't give Dalia any earrings or bracelets, but I think she would wear them. She also wears her amulet, a family heirloom, at all times.

hair: How does your OC wear their hair? Does it have some kind of meaning?

Boringly, everyone wears it down, lol. Dalia would switch it up, though, and sometimes wear it tied or in a braid or styled for a play or for a night out.

And the one you just asked me to add :

canvas: Does your OC have any scars, piercings, tattoos, or other markings? Do they display or cover them up at all?

Paola definitely has scars from several squirmishes, though I have to figure them out. Maya might have tattoos. I think they are definitely the type, but I hadn't thought about it so I'll have to rotate it. Luca has scars >3 But I'll keep them secret. Dalia, I'm inclined to say neither, but perhaps I have yet to learn some things about her.

You’re just shoveling sand into the sandbox so you can build castles later. Get the words on the page, even if they’re clumsy, even if you cringe while writing them. The magic happens in the revision, but you can’t revise a blank page. So let the first draft be messy. Let it be flawed. Just get it down, because that’s where the real work begins.
