Hi! I wonder if the 2018 Turtles ever stumbled across or intentionally searched for interviews of Lou Jitsu being asked about his experience in Hollywood as an Asian man. The Turtles learning about Lou Jitsu's struggles for the first time and hearing him talk about the problems of his fellow Asian Hollywood actors could shift how they see their dad. Realizing that not even the super awesome, powerful Lou Jitsu could escape racial trauma because at the end of the day, he was non-white in America. Maybe it'd be jarring for them to see that side of their dad
The 2018 Turtles recognizing their dad's strife as an immigrant as they age and how he culturally assimilated both for the sake of his film career, but also because of his personal rejection of the Hamato culture he was raised in (due to it traumatizing him)
The Turtles wanting to connect with their Japanese heritage after discovering Lou Jitsu's their biological dad, but understanding why Splinter kept them away from it so they feel sad and resentful and proud and sympathetic and frustrated and it's a back and forth of emotions
AND Lou Jitsu during his career being at war with himself because he wanted to be positive representation for the Asian Am community yet also wanted to assimilate which meant hiding a lot of his culture. Use his visibility to be an unapologetically Asian (and non-white in general) role model, but he also felt pressured/was literally pressured to assimilate so he can be more popular with a wider audience and have more opportunities. He did indeed canonically code-switch back when he was Lou Jitsu and still does as Splinter. The thought of all of that as an Asian myself makes me soooo emotional........
dude your brain....
effervescent
It's so mixed up and confusing and upsetting and euphoric and eough. Learning their dad faced so much discrimination in a way they'd probably never experience as turtle mutants sheltered from humans, learning why their dad is the way he is... 😭😭😭
i imagine there would be some confliction, wondering if learning about their culture would either make their dad happy or bring him grief and memories of his trauma

Nanami x reader where the reader teaches Kento about Dia de los Muertos? And they make a small ofrenda and put their most beloved people on them (like Yū Haibara for Nanami).
P.S HAPPY HALLOWEEN AND DIA DE LOS MUERTOS Fairly!!! I hope you have a great holiday
Obon & Día de Muertos // Nanami Kento x gn! Latine!reader
Tumblr media
word count: 1.7k
cw: gn!reader, latine!reader, fluff, established relationship, very little info on both celebrations (i was having flashbacks to my undergrad research papers lol), petnames (sweetheart, beautiful, love)
summary: Japan had Obon and Latino America has Día de Muertos, celebrations that are much more similar than what you two realize. So when Día de Muertos rolls around, Nanami decides to do a surprise for you just like you have one for him.
a/n: thank you for calling again, @erigaur! thank you and happy (late) halloween and dia de los muertos to you too! i had fun doing this request because i didn't know about obon before and it is so interesting how similar it is to día de muertos. Thinking about it has made me imagine how Nanami would instantly understand día de muertos and adopt some of the traditions if he had a latine partner. So here is the idea, hope you enjoy it!
liked this? show it with a like, reblog, and/or comment. each is greatly appreciated and celebrated!
Tumblr media
It was around Obon week that Nanami first heard you mention Dia de los Muertos. He was explaining to you how he has gotten quite busy this week from having to balance between work and preparations for Obon, quick to explain to you how Obon is a festival in which people pay respect to their ancestors and those who have passed away for a couple of days. He knew not many cultures dealt with the topic of death, but as someone whose line of work often reminded him of it through the many losses he had to bear witness along with the possibility of his own, he found the festival to be quite important.
“Oh, like Dia de los Muertos.” You chimed in, which was met with a few blink from Nanami that asked for clarification. “Day of the Dead, we celebrate it around October-November but it's the same thing—we honor the dead as they come back to us. I didn’t know other cultures had something similar to it.”
“Not so different after all,” he hums, leaning back on his seat as he realizes the similarity between your cultures. Nanami begins to wonder about your version of the holiday. Sure, he has heard it becoming more prominent over at mainstream media in a way that Obon is not, and yet, those mentions were never in depth.
“So what do you guys do during Obon?” He heard you ask, looking up at you and seeing your curiosity in your eyes.
“We visit our ancestors and those who have passed away, take care of their graves and leave offerings and lanterns for them.” Nanami throws his head back, sighing as he thinks over the holiday. “It’s not a one-day holiday, each day has its own tradition and we hold a festival to celebrate it.”
“Huh, sounds similar to Day of the Dead. Although I would say that ours is known for holding up a shrine full of offerings for our loved ones. It’s a big part of my culture, celebrating both life and honoring death throughout a couple of days. Some places may hold festivals, colorful and quite breathtaking, but my family always made it a somewhat private celebration.”
“How so?”
“We focused more on the shrine than going to the cemetery. Getting the marigolds, cooking the meals, and everything else the shrine needed. My mom always made the altar—we call it ofrenda, by the way—looked so pretty with the candlelight and my family’s pictures that I guess it just became cozy.” You shrugged, taking your mug into your hands as silence set between you too.
Nanami let the silence take over as he thought about it. Obon was something he took seriously to no one’s surprise, he lost too many people in one lifetime that the least he could do for them was honor them during the holiday. Though it sounded quite somber, the celebration seemed quite far from it with the way the streets would light up the night sky—and it sounded like it was the same thing with your culture. It wasn’t shying away from death like other parts of the world did, it was recognizing it as an important part of life and loving those who are not with us anymore. The idea of having more than just a week of devoting his attention and time towards those gone felt right to say the least. After all, he would be a bad boyfriend if he didn’t take the chance to learn about your culture, right?
Thus, October rolled around and you started gathering things for your shrine, you realized how difficult it would be now that you were living in Japan and many of the things you needed weren’t as common as they are at home. Though things like incense and candles were easy to find and other things like dishes could be improvised, you struggled to find the sugar skulls and the papel picado that were significant for your tradition. Today seemed to be another fruitless day of searching as you headed home, maybe you would have to order them online and hope for the best. You didn’t want to make do without them.
When you arrived home, you were surprised to find Nanami outside of your place, which was a sight for sore eyes that have been searching far and wide to make your shrine justice. As you walked closer to him, you noticed he had a bag on his hands, a big one by the look of it.
“Hey you.” You greeted him with a quick peck on the lips before turning to your door and opening it. “Were you waiting for a long time? You could’ve left me a text and I could’ve headed home sooner.”
“No need, I wanted to surprise you.” Nanami smiled, holding the door open now that you unlocked it so you could head in first.
“Surprise me with whatever is on that bag?” You smirked, setting your own bags on the living room where your shrine was being set up.
You had a week before the first day of day of the dead started and though you were struggling to find some things, no one could tell you you weren’t putting in the effort. When Nanami followed you to the living room, his eyes immediately fell on the shrine. Even if he has seen pictures of how ofrendas look for day of the dead, yours looked amazing in his eyes. Many pictures were already up on top of the white mantelpiece, some were old as indicated by the lack of color in them while others were much more recent. You had pictures of your first pets and of your most dear relatives on display with their favorite dishes and objects placed before each picture frame. He may not know these people and you may not be looking at him as you took out your groceries of the day, but he couldn’t help but bow before the shrine out of respect.
“You’re setting quite the bar for all the other day of the dead shrines I’ll see.” Nanami commented, walking to your side now that you were done pulling out the contents of your bag.
You looked behind him, sighing. “I’m not in love with it, my mom’s shrine is much better than this. But I suppose it’s the best I can do.” You shrugged, turning to face him. “You didn’t answer my question though.” You smirked, looking down at the bag.
Nanami smiled at you and then looked down at what you bought for the day. “I wouldn’t call it a surprise, more so as a gift to my beautiful sweetheart.” He hummed, extending the bag for you to take.
You raise a brow at him as you take the bag, which was quite heavy. As soon as you opened it, your eyes widened as they shifted their focus back and forth between the bag and Nanami.
“How did you get these?” This bag was filled with the things you were struggling to find the most. Sugar skulls, papel picado, and what seemed like crafts modeled after pan de muerto. “How do you even know about these?” You were left stunned to say the least as you looked at your boyfriend with a dropped jaw.
“You accompanied me during Obon after our conversation that day even when I told you you didn’t have to.” He explained. “I wanted to help you celebrate your tradition like you helped me celebrate mine.”
Truth be told, he started researching about the day of the death since then and learned that many of the things you needed weren’t available in Japan. When he saw that you were starting to assemble your ofrenda, he ordered what knew would be difficult to find in Japan. An order that was delivered today, thus here he was today. You were always so respectful of his traditions and customs that he wanted to do this for you. Not only that, but if your traditions weren’t that different from one another, he had a feeling you would sulk over if your altar didn’t have every element that was needed.
“Honey, this is…I just don’t have words, my god. Thank you.” You said softly, wrapping your arms around him and pulling him into a tight embrace that he gladly returned, placing his arms around your waist and his face on your shoulder.
“No need to thank me, you deserve to make your ofrenda look just how you like it.” He replied, trying his best to pronounce ofrenda as best as he could. Though it wasn’t a perfect pronunciation, you didn’t care, finding his accent alone adorable.
“Now that you mention it, I do need your help to make it look how I want to.” That made Nanami pull his head off your shoulder, still keeping his arms around you, as he hummed for you to elaborate.
“If it is okay with you,” you said gently, cautiously as you bit your lip before continuing, “I would like to put Haibara in the shrine. I know how important he is to you and I want to honor him because of it.”
His heart stopped the moment you mentioned his name, taking a sharp inhale that made you loosen up your embrace around his neck. But he quickly pulled you closer to him with your head on his chest, caressing your hair softly.
“It is more than okay with me. I would be honored that you would want to do this.” He whispered against your head, pressing a kiss on the top of it.
“It’s the least I can do, love.” You whispered back, closing your eyes as you felt the contact of his lips on your head.
You had made sure to leave a space for Haibara in your altar in advance, hoping and grateful that he gave you his blessing to put his picture up. After all, you knew how much death impacted his life and work. You wanted to give him more than just Obon week to honor those that he had lost by sharing Día de Muertos with him as you celebrated the life you have spent by his side.

First off, loving ZotS rn (it’s one of five fics I actually set email reminders for updates), so thank you for the great work!
Second off, with the upcoming festival ‘arc’, I was wondering how Maki is going to be playing in this fic and how her interaction with Shiki will go. So far, the only interaction we’ve seen her and Mai have with Shiki was the last festival where she basically put Naoya in his place and after re-reading it, I can’t help but imagine the kind of impact that kind of thing could have on her (a strong woman who is not only willing to defy a major clan but has the ability to back it up). Since we don’t really have any knowledge of her past between “leaving” the zen’in clan and joining jujutsu tech, a part of me hopes Maki seeks out Shiki this festival and pulls a korra-esque reverse-Luffy (“I’m joining your crew and you’ve gotta deal with it”). Plus, with how much both of their combat styles focus on cursed tools and shiki’s willingness (if poor ability in communicating it) to teach, I can imagine Maki seeing her as a mentor figure (at least more than Satoru, but that honestly isn’t that hard).
On Shiki’s side, though, I’m curious how she will regard Maki’s abilities with her HR. On the one hand, even if she’s not been told the full story on Toji, the fact that she not only “fought” him but also nearly got killed doing so should make her one of her biggest supporters since she knows not to underestimate someone with those abilities. At the same time, I’m kinda worried Shiki’s going to mess it all up like she did with Aikawa by saying something that could be interpreted as diminutive like “why be a sorcerer, I can barely sense your cursed energy?”.
Anyway, sorry about the rambling, I just really love your story and wanted to take my opportunity to ask a question that’s been on my mind for a while.
Thanks for reading and I'm glad you're enjoying the story!
Maki and Mai haven't been part of the active storyline aside from that one appearance during the first Obon. There are certain similarities between Maki and Shiki, such as their love for sharp, pointy objects...
Going to be keeping quiet for now because we'll be getting to the Zenin twins in the future. Assuming I don't make any last-minute changes, there are plans for them making an appearance during the upcoming festival. :)

So I saw a few holiday imagines such as Christmas & Hanukkah and that got me wondering how they would feel about some version of Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead in their world (or Obon festival)? Since many lost friends and family, etc... you think they would pay respect? Who would be the most to least likely to want to celebrate it and honor their loved ones and how you think they would go about/react if someone they liked or in a relationship celebrates it or told them about it?
Pein/Nagato: He would definitely celebrate this holiday and would be happy if his s/o did as well. He would probably offer to celebrate together (and invite Konan if his s/o was okay with it) to honor Yahiko and all the other good people he’s lost along the way.
Konan: She would love to celebrate this holiday, but only after her s/o brought it up to her first. She prefers to reflect on her losses alone, though she’s grown to understand that maybe it’s not so bad to have someone else there to provide comfort.
Deidara: He doesn’t really care much for the holiday since there’s not a lot of people he cares deep enough that he’s haunted by their loss. However, if his s/o wanted to celebrate it, he would be receptive, both to be a good partner and to enjoy (read: critique) the fireworks at the accompanying festival.
Sasori: He doesn’t really want to celebrate the holiday together. If his s/o brought it up, he’d tell them he is okay with them celebrating it, but not to bring him into it. In private, though, we all know he is still hung up on his losses and is paying his respects in his own way.
Itachi: He would be happy to celebrate the holiday with his s/o if they wanted to do it together, but he would secretly be pained accompanying his s/o through all the festivities. He would prefer to be left alone on that day so he can quietly suffer and truly honor his fellow clansmen like he feels he needs to.
Kisame: He acknowledges the importance of the holiday, but as someone who’s been betrayed and considers himself apart from others, he doesn’t feel he has anyone to pay his respects to. If his s/o asked, though, he wouldn’t mind joining them to make them happy.
Hidan: He would not want to celebrate this holiday and wouldn’t understand why his s/o would want to either. He doesn’t have anyone he wants to honor and doesn’t see the point in paying respects to his kills when they’ve served a greater purpose in his worship of Jashin. Also, one’s neighbor is the ideal sacrifice in his religion.
Kakuzu: He understands why his s/o would want to celebrate the holiday, but doesn’t want any part in it. He would prefer to forget as much of his old life as possible and mourn it only in moments of extreme weakness (which he would not want his s/o to see).
Obito: He would celebrate this holiday with and without his s/o. He would want to enjoy the festivities and bring more cheer to the day when he’s celebrating with his s/o. When he’s alone, though, he would take this moment of paying respect to remind himself why he’s doing what he’s doing and to strengthen his resolve to achieve his goals.
Zetsu: He doesn’t understand the holiday and doesn’t care for it, but he would celebrate it with his s/o if that is what they wanted. He would be mostly confused the whole day, but he would try his best to understand (and if he doesn’t, he would just smile that smile you make when you don’t know what’s going on).

Hello, sorry if I write something wrong I am using the translator not is my native language.
I love your fic, your watch is running honestly, it is my favorite fic but I saw that this is pre-canonical and I had my doubts about how the events of the manga They would develop with the relationship of Teru and Aka's fic, for example, the relationship between Aoi and Akane's childhood friends would not be there, I would like to know how the separation arc would develop because in the manga when that happens, Akane only loses his ability to control time but without major damage but here xD poor aka, and the current arc of the festival with the great clock and the blood kills supernaturals.
This has nothing to do with it, but knowing that Aka liked Sosuke's photos a lot, if he dies and is condemned at school, I only see Aka, not knowing who he is but liking his photos a lot and I would start to fill him with questions about what he was like be a human being and teru just saying: now also in is your problem.
I'm sorry if it's too long, I just wanted to get my doubts out of my head, I hope I don't bother you.
have a nice day
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying the Aka fic! and I am always happy to talk about it! :D
I know I used the ‘pre-canon’ tag, and while I do want their world to be the tbhk world (with some artistic liberties), I am afraid the canon plot has already been kicked so hard it is far easier to treat it as a disconnected au in the same universe.
We don’t need to go as far as the Grim Reaper Sacrifice’s arc for major changes to show up, the reason Nene met Hanako in the first place is because she wanted to date Teru, the equivalent of a school celebrity that you can only ‘score’ with magic, but by the time canon start, Teru would already be dating Aka: He is off the market.
Tumblr media
So if she could see Teru with a lover I can’t imagine her trying to break them up to get Teru to date her, so she would not eat the mermaid scales.
The butterfly effect of this, plus Akane not existing, would be insane, and it would just pile up with time (cause I know canon teru has info about the supernatural that hasn’t been revealed yet, and since the fic is in his pov it just doesn’t work. He can't be a mysterious character with big secrets as a narrator). I just used ‘pre-canon’ so people would know Teru would be aged down, the most I’ll do is make references every once in a while about a canon thing... I’m sorry if it gave you hope for the future anon...
Your ask does make me imagine how Aka would handle meeting mitsuba and a severance though.
Poor Mitsuba would catch no breaks if his ghost met Aka, you are right that Aka would be a nightmare. Mitsuba, even when he tries to be as annoying and intimidating as he can, isn’t nearly as intimidating or cold as Teru, so Aka is completely unshaken when he is called a ‘pushy pervert!’ or anything of sorts.  And when Aka learn Mitsuba took the pictures?? He’ll be unbearable (Mitsuba would be a tiny little bit happy someone like his photos so much, but still mostly annoyed) Mitsuba’s rest will have no peace.
As for the severance: Aka would be doing a school patrol with Teru during obon, and since there are no signs of struggles (Akane isn’t there to fight the supernaturals), or glasses left behind it would take Teru some time to realize someone was kidnapped, he may even be oblivious to it until Aka start cracking.
(The rest of this reply contains spoilers. Not plot spoilers but tiny information about Aka’s that wasn’t revealed in the fic yet, so it could be taken as fun facts or spoilers depending on what kind of info you value.)
Both would panic, Aka does not know about the severance and one of his biggest fears is to disappear, so watching his body crack would make him lose it. Considering Teru would panic too but try to be calm, Aka may believe this is the end and cry, (he isn't exactly a crybaby but he does cry far more easily than Akane.)
Teru would freak out because he knows how Aka’s memories work: The supernatural is a keeper of the present, so he was ‘built’ to live in the present. Memories of his day-to-day life are harder to forget than memories of something that’s detached from it.
For example: If a student graduate and never show up again, Aka will forget memories about them far easier than memories of someone he sees every week. If he is put somewhere that he has never been before and he doesn’t know anyone, he will have no connections to his school life and lose his memory way way faster so that he can avoid being stuck in the past and just enjoy the present, adapt so this new place is his new home.
So Teru is scared of just how much Aka might forget. He gives him the bracelet full of bells that he had given Aoi, and makes him promise to not take it off no matter how ‘itchy and uncomfortable’ the bells fell for a supernatural (the bells are his only guide towards whatever boundary Aka lands on).

awww considering it's spring festival coming up, i can imagine cutie pie satoru wanting to teach his girl all about traditions and stuff 🥹🥹
omg yes he'd be so excited to do that 😣🩷 i think the story is set in july at the moment, so i haven't written for spring festivals but instead summer festivals.
i wanted to write about the Tanabata festival because the wish-writing and romanticness of it could have made some really cute scenes, but i didn't learn enough about it and also i already wrote about Obon so 🙈

The probable significance of summer vacation
Overall, JSHK has a very tight narrative. Nene has never been in her winter uniform, so this series takes place over a specific series of months.
The first semester of high school starts in April.
We do know Nene confessed to her crush 1 month ago (from meeting Hanako).
Tumblr media
So it’s not possible Hanako and Nene met in April, it has to be at least one month out from the start of the year, when Nene confessed to her previous crush. May or June would be when we start the series.
Using holidays and school events, we can triangulate a few dates succinctly.
Nene knows Hanako for 1 month as of Confession Tree
Tumblr media
the next large-scale event with a timestamp is the bookstacks!
The bookstacks take place around June 13th
...meaning Nene seems to have met Hanako in May, if around June is 1 month from their meeting!
Hell of Mirrors: July 2nd
Nene reflects on the events of the Hell of Mirrors on July 5th
Tumblr media
The next day, just before Tanabata, is when she comforts Kou. July 6th
Tanabata is July 7th, and when Nene meets the young Amane.
We have the Kegare outbreak before Picture Perfect begins. So, we aren’t meant to see the events as so immediate.
Picture Perfect is immediately chased by school exams, which mark the end of the semester. This is likely mid-July.
Tumblr media
The school sleepover is just before summer vacation.
Tumblr media
followed by the Severance, which is at the start of summer vacation, roughly July 20th.
Tumblr media
...for some reason Tsuchigomori in the official translations says Obon is August-Sept, but it literally has to be in July for our timeline to make any sense? Obon celebrations can be held in mid-July so....
I'm not sure what it was like in Japan in the 60s (and this is an obtuse thing to try to search for information about....) with regards to summer vacation, so I don’t know if imminent vacation is placing any pressures or constraints on Amane/Tsukasa.
The date in the past that Amane is found crying, by Nene, as a result of the tea party Tsukasa hosts, is July 18th The date when Tsuchigomori is tending to Amane, is July 22nd
We seem to be at around this date, now!
We're swiftly approaching the likely anniversary of the Yugi's shinjuu!
Tumblr media
The Yugi twins died in their summer uniforms... while I can’t speak for exact customs of dates of the past, I do imagine that the uniforms are a significant hint to the timeframe of the shinjuu, placing it both in the summer and close to the school session (I think being in personal clothes would add a different inflection!). The Amane we see doubling down on some unknown resolve to Tsuchigomori, is doing so at a date that easily matches with this....! A summertime affair.
We now know that Nene’s fate is somehow linked to the yorishiro’s complete destruction. We know that Tsukasa is baiting Nene and Amane to destroy these items, including himself....
Tumblr media
not the point of my postie but, the recent chapters have been titled ‘dawn’.... interesting? I’m excited!
....we should also maybe all make fun of (or applaud?!) Hanako for falling so in love with a girl he’d destroy an ancient system of protection, a girl he met, at best ... 3 months ago ............................... he’s very 13, isn’t he? So funny.

1, 4, 11, 19 (I’m 90% sure you would, so WHAT would you paint them?), 24, 33, 43, 46, 48
So many questions and I don't remember what they were! Lol had to go back and look up the ask meme.
1. Who is/are [my] comfort characters?
Probably Luffy from One Piece. I have so many fond memories of my connection to him as I grew up with the series, same for Sakura from Card Captor.
4. Which cryptyd being do [I] believe in?
Tbh I believe in a lot of supernatural/mythological/fairytale creatures, but I don't think they exist in all the same ways that people usually imagine them.
11. Favorite extracurricular activity?
Probably hiking. I just really enjoy spending time in nature, but I don't do it nearly as much as I'd like (thanks, depression).
19. imagine we're at a sleepover, would [I] paint [your] nails?
Hell yeah! People keep buying me nail polish but I never use it on myself. I love giving makeovers though. It's the cosplayer in me. I've done some fun designs on people's nails before. For you, I'd probably do a cat theme with different little kitties in neutral colors on each nail. I just think that'd be fun to have and might make you smile to look down at your hands and see. (ofc Napoleon and Lewis would make appearances)
24. if we were together on a rooftop, what would we be doing?
I think we might each have a cup of warm cider and do plein air sketches of the sky or smth. And of course we'd talk about life and comfort each other and maybe laugh together. Maybe show each other recent pictures of interesting things we've done or seen recently. Just vibing.
33. the last adventure [I]'ve been on?
Well, my mom has been trying to drag me out of the house occasionally because y'know (depression). But recently we went out to this farm and stopped at every art gallery along the way. When we were on a main highway type back road (oxymoronic, I know), it was around lunch time and I saw a sign for a cafe detour. We pulled off and drove for a while through basically nothing and found a random tiny town. Little Washington has this fancy-ass inn that's like a 5-star hotel with a michelin star restaurant. The whole area is basically built up around this inn and has a bunch of art galleries and other little fun up-scale shops. It was so weird to find out in the middle of nowhere, and we'd never heard of it. But it was a pretty cool little place, even though it was kind of a ghost town when we were there.
43. what's [my] take on spicy foods? Hell yeah, BB!! I love 'em. One time when I was at a concert in high-school, a couple of my Korean friends made me some spicy ramen. Since then nothing really seems that spicy. But I love to get hot hot hot curry and wings. Now I'm craving spicy food, yummy.
46. Favorite holiday film?
Hm well we both know I love Klaus if we're talking about winter holidays. I feel like there are probably others that I like to watch every year, but I just love Klaus sm.
48. when did [I] first try an alcohol beverage?
I had a really awkward golden birthday (I turned 21 on the 21st) celebration, definitely one of the most disappointing and underwhelming. And I had never tried alcohol before I turned 21. My sister and I went to a winery for tastings, so I think that was probably my first wine. My first beer I split with a friend from my Japan-America cultural exchange group at a fancy sushi place after an obon matsuri at a local Buddhist temple, and I still haven't had a beer better than that one.
I think that's all of them! Hopefully these satiate your curiosity, my dear xoxo

Years have passed since the the slates were destroyed and everyone's life is moving on. The dead characters get to visit the living world as ghost who can't speak to any of the still alive characters but they could talk to the other ghost. For a few days they get to see what the world has become and watch how the loved ones they left behind are doing. Nothing's perfect but in the end, their loved ones are happy and so they're satisfied.
Isn’t this a bit like what happened in Circle Vision, except I guess actual ghosts this time instead of whatever was going on there. Assuming the ghosts can’t be seen by anyone either, maybe this is an Obon thing and everyone actually did get to come visit their loved ones. Like imagine Homra is setting up things for Obon a few years after the end of ROK and Anna kinda looks up at one point with this thoughtful look on her face. Kusanagi asks if she’s okay and she smiles and says it’s nothing. Floating nearby Ghost Totsuka notes that of course Anna would sense they were there, hasn’t she grown up to be a good girl. Ghost Mikoto is smoking a celestial cigarette and just looking down on everyone, he nods and says he figured they’d be okay. Totsuka says Kusanagi looks like he’s doing well too, he’s busy as always. There aren’t any drinks left on the counter though, waiting for people who can’t drink them, and Titsuka complains that here he was thirsty. Mikoto smiles and says it’s fine though isn’t it, that Kusanagi doesn’t need to put those out anymore. Totsuka smiles gently and says that’s true, King was especially worried about Kusanagi but here it seems there was no need after all. Mikoto denies being worried but he says that’s fine, the living shouldn’t be looking back at the dead all the time. Totsuka agrees and says he supposes they should go, unless Mikoto wants to check on the Blue King first. Mikoto smirks and says that guy will be fine too, he doesn’t need ghosts watching him (over at Scepter 4, Munakata sneezes and goes back to his puzzle, with ghost Kusuhara quietly expressing his gratitude beside him).
Meanwhile Sukuna’s stopping by where jungle’s hideout used to be, with some flowers for Hisui. Maybe Douhan is there too accompanying him, just to keep an eye on him while Yukari is elsewhere, and Sukuna’s just quietly looking unsatisfied as he sets the flowers on the ground. He’s gotten taller and maybe he’s learned some things but he doesn’t want Hisui and Iwa to be forgotten either, he feels like someone should be here to mourn them. Ghost Hisui is watching and thinks that even if his dream failed he’s hopeful Sukuna has found a new dream he can believe in. Iwa leans against him and says the kid should be fine, Iwa wishes they could have taught him more but there’s only so much time any person has after all. Hisui agrees, saying that what they ultimately wanted was for people to be happy and at least Sukuna seems to be on his way to achieving such a thing.
Yukari himself is over at Ichigen’s grave when Kuroh walks up with his own flowers to deliver. Yukari greets him and Kuroh notes that this is a time of year for ghosts, isn’t it. Yukari is curious if Kuroh believes in such things and Kuroh says he doesn’t know, but he’s felt a few presences gently watching over Shiro and Neko in the last few days. Yukari laughs a little but doesn’t say anything against that, just noting that Kuroh seems to have his own sense of inner beauty as well, to feel such things. Kuroh says he’s still weak in many ways but he’s growing, and he hopes that any presence watching over him is pleased. Yukari teases him for being so serious and then notes that the air is gentle here, as ghost Ichigen moves to give them both a quick embrace before floating away in the wind.

JAMES WILLIAM MOORE - Educator, Artist, Agent of Discussion
James William Moore is not only a much-sought after and admired educator, but he is also  an international lens-based artist known for his use of camp and kitsch aesthetics to create surreal and thought-provoking cinematic experiences through photography, video, projection mapping, and installations. Through his work, Moore appropriates politics, American pop culture, and everyday life creating a visual language that is both humorous and deeply meaningful.  He has always been drawn to the power of visual storytelling, as seen in his series Tilting at Windmills, Get a Clue, and Portrait of a Teller’s Fortune as he brings his imagination to life by combining fact and fantasy. To James, appropriation is not a dirty word. To him it is a word that has been much maligned over the years.  “However, when we aren’t appropriating cultures, the power of appropriation is limitless, “ said James.  “ To be honest, as much as kitsch and camp form the heart of my storytelling art practice, the soul of my artwork is appropriation.  Appropriation refers to taking something of someone else’s and making it our own. When I look back over my work, I see a heavy influence coming from artists like Cindy Sherman, René Magritte, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Andy Warhol, and Edward Hopper.  Whether it’s a subconscious passion for architecture and mundane of Hopper, the vibrant storytelling with saturated imagery of diCorcia, or the sheer gaudiness of Warhol – I see the influence of these masters on my work.  Through my reverent appreciation of these artists, I appropriate their style, subject matter, visual composition, and techniques.” Moore completed his Master of Fine Art, with a concentration in photography, at San José State University.  He has taught photography at SJSU and Gavilan College.  He also led a workshop on Adobe Photoshop to assist with the City of San Jose’s Cultural History and Postcard Public Art Project.  His work has been seen in group shows, with highlights including: Clang, Clang Clang went the Trolley at Rayko Galleries’ SHOWCASE (2012, San Francisco), Spin Me ‘Round at Pacific Art League’s Carnevale (2010, Palo Alto), Alone with Dino at 1650 Gallery’s Dudes, Bros, & Gentlemen (2016, Los Angeles), Dances at Windmills at JJ&A PopUP Gallery’s Unconventional Urban Ballet (2014, Palm Springs) and selected images from Madame B’s Tarot Readings appearing at FotoNostrum (2023, Barcelona).  Moore’s solo show highlights include: 40 at Paragon Restaurant, Carnevale & Kimonos at Read Brown Salon (2016, Palm Springs), Get a Clue at San Jose State University’s Black Gallery (2020), and Madame B’s Tarot Readings at Jo Farb Hernandez Gallery.  His public art participation includes Red Obi from the Obon series in the Japantown Mural Project (2013, San Jose) and Judgement from the Madame B’s Tarot Readings series in Expo Metro’s Billboard Art Project (2023, Barcelona).

Some more rosebots HCs because why not? -Yinu uses ze/zir as a neopronoun since it felt neutral -Yinu can now speak some Japanese and Hebrew. Peni can now speak some Spanish and Zulu. -one of the most prominent holidays that they celebrate are Día de Muertos and Obon -they both stopped working in their late 20s, and travelled the world for few years (Japan, South Africa, Mexico, and more) -some of their old friends or people asking for tech advice come and visit them in their getaway
I love all of these so much! They sound like such lovely headcanons!
Also, I can see Yinu not ever having to work anymore from like a teenager on because zir mother made sure all the finances as a Megastar were put in proper avenues (as well Mama putting her own money into good investments for Yinu's future).
Yinu just decides to keep working out of passion and love for the job (whatever that may be, might not still be an NSRtist). Ze will always have the option to quit a job ze hates or is treated poorly in. That privilege extends to Peni once they get together (I'm sure Yinu would have also extended help to Peni if they were both just friends, but now there is a definite security for Peni).
Peni honestly wouldn't need that security as much, but it does help as Peni doesn't come from money and most likely would have had to keep working well into later adulthood depending on how kit lived kits life (which I can see being pretty maximalist for a while before shifting to a more average, possibly minamalist, kind of attitude).
Yinu probably already knew some Japanese and Hebrew thanks to the Sayu Crew and Eve, however it was all just phrases and words. After Peni and Yinu became friends and then closer, Yinu was able to become conversationalist in those languages.
Peni might have known some Spanish from kits time in Nueva York, but again, it was more like phrases (less than what Yinu knew of Japanese and Hebrew). The two definitely use LSM as that is a very important part of Yinu that keeps zir dad's memory alive (I don't know what Peni would do to keep kits dad's memory alive as an everyday thing, but they would do it).
Speaking of keeping their dads' memories alive, I do love the idea that they participate in those two holidays! There is definitely going to be other holidays about keeping family members' memories alive and honoring the dead that comes from their other heritages, but those two holidays are probably the most important to them.
That last point though made me think of something sad. Imagine some of 1010 having to come to see Peni for tech issues (like really bad ones that Eloni or Purl can't fix) because Neon J is no longer around. That would definitely be a hard hit for Yinu (as well as obviously 1010) which would make Yinu keep in close contact with 1010 as best as ze can. Peni would absolutely help out when kit can.

You know... I was just joking when I said everyone is after Shiki's body.
I didn't think that statement would ever become something so cursed (pun not intended). Not only do centuries old entities want to get inside her (pun intended), but apparently so do young aspiring clan heads like Naoya and the Kamo reject. I suppose the only saving grace here is that Gojo Satoru has taken to the trope of the overprotective big brother a little too well.
On a brighter note (so many puns), it was nice to see Shiki channeling her inner Hinokami Kagura for the Obon ceremony. Does this mean we'll see her performing consecutive Black Flashes in the shape of a dragon head? I think we should call it the "Black Halo Dragon Head Dance."
Tumblr media
;)
Although on a more serious note I can easily imagine how this ceremony might factor into Shiki's development as sorcerer. From Satoru's explanation Jujutsu is mostly an instinctive art, there are few things that sorcerer's techniques have in common other than universal techniques like the aforementioned Black Flash.
Thus, it stands to reason that performing a ceremony which honors the dead will have a profound impact on Shiki's own technique, which revolves around death. Perhaps setting her up for her eventual Domain Expansion?
Haha Shiki is rather popular, isn’t she? (Whistles)
It is indeed a very lucky thing that she has Gojo Satoru on her side watching out for her. Makes you wonder what would happen if he was taken out of the picture, right? :D
I actually wasn’t thinking about Hinokami Kagura at all when I was writing the scene (more JJK0 than anything, really) but in retrospect it’s actually?? Kinda fitting I guess? I already have an idea in mind for Shiki’s Black Flash! Nothing to do with dancing, unfortunately. Assuming I don’t change my mind on it, we should be seeing Shiki use Black Flash before she officially enrolls as a student at Tokyo Jujutsu High.
And now I want to write a Demon Slayer AU again, oh no…
Canonically we know that jujutsu is, like, 80% innate talent? People can use simple shikigami and barriers, which seem pretty universal, but cursed techniques are something else entirely. I don’t recall if we’ve seen simple shikigami in the manga, but the paper dolls in zenith of stars would be an example of that haha.
But anyways, Shiki’s cursed technique! Aligns very nicely with the ritual and the dancing, hence the ‘unique phenomenon’ that occurred during the okuribi. The light show and her realizations during it do relate to her cursed technique (and thereby her domain expansion), but there’s still a ways to go before we get everything clearly spelled out and I’m definitely looking forward to writing that. :)

Footprints #1212 - Summer Vacation
August 17thSunny ☀️
#yugo'sfootprints
#summer vacation
Good morning♪
This is Yugo Kochi sweating a little 💦 from the hairdryer this morning.
Even with my short hair, I'm sweating from the hairdryer. I can't imagine for the people who have longer hair ( ; ; )
Next,
Is the summer holiday for working people over?
Did the Obon holiday end yesterday? Or today?
I have no idea 😆
Have the kids finished their summer homework? Lol
Yesterday I saw a lot of bicycles parked at a cram school in the city and I thought it might be a summer school.
I prioritised playing over summer classes and was forced to take a role as the teased fool*, so I wish you all the best… lol (E/N*: his role in School Kakumei is a teased fool character)
When you grow up, you'll really understand the importance of compulsory education.
High school and college studies were difficult for me, so I gave up 🤷🏻 lol
Let's grow up to be respectable adults!
Let's be respectable adults for the adults from now on ^ ^ 😆
I'll do my best too lol
By the way… Are there children reading my blog? Lol
I think I'll try to create a blog that's child-friendly.
Of course, I'll let the adults enjoy it too 😆.
Lastly…
Thank you for all your hard work and schoolwork today. Isn't the sun hot? It was damp and humid because of the typhoon, but it looks like it will be clear and sunny today. Let's hope we don't get a sudden downpour!
Don't forget to wash your hands, gargle and stay hydrated!
I'm grateful every day.
I just had a thought.
I listen to too many summer songs in the car and it pisses me off lol.
It's not like I'm on my way to play. It's only 6:00 in the morning??
My manager is driving in a groove, so I guess it's okay lol.
Today too, let's do our best.
See you tomorrow.
Keep smiling ☺️
(Kochi photographed an almost empty cold drink and a sort of hairball next to it. The caption reads: "It got shorter ♡")
E/N: My dear Yugo, compulsory education is the most important thing. I would just like to say to you, who has managed to do this while being the teased fool, thank you for your hard work as the teased fool. Thank you for entertaining and warming my heart as the teased fool ☺️
