Valentine’s Dance with Lloyd and Zeta

How I spent Valentine’s Day, you may ask? Well, school and drawing this picture. Figured I do something for this couple since I rarely get a chance to draw them doing more stuff together!

For context to those who are stumbling across this; this is a CanonxOC pairing because I was upset with how Crystalized went, didn’t really like Harumi for Lloyd, and I wanted more Oni stuff. Zeta is an Oni who deflected from the Omega’s army for a frog and she and Lloyd eventually get together. After a LONG slow burn of the two figuring out relationships.

They’re both asexual dorks who are still trying to figure out romance. But hey, at least they’re having fun in this picture.

Also, huge shout out to @rinkunokoisuru for helping me figure out how to draw Zeta in the 2D Lego art style! I seriously can’t thank you enough for that sketch during the art request!

So a freelancer Donut au,,,

He wasn't always the fun, quirky sexual innuendo saying sim troop we know him as today. Actually, he was very serious as a freelancer(Missouri), and they were never part of the top of the top. They still went on a lot of important missions. However, stealth and undercover missions were their specialties.

Then the fragments are started to be given out. And to everyone's surprise, Agent Missouri is called back and offered an ai. And how was he to say no to an AI when the Director was offering to them himself.

He gets the fragment Zeta, the Alpha's desires. Life went on as normal for a while. Missouri was still the serious Freelancer he once was and was even growing higher and higher in ranks to where he was starting to show up on the leaderboards

But, Zeta was given to Missouri for a reason. The Director wanted to see what would happen if he gave the ai of desire to someone who refused everything for the work, for his mission. How would a voice in your head constantly telling you to give into your desires change a man?

However, the desire Zeta was telling Missouri to give into was something he suppressed growing up on a small farm in Iowa. He started becoming comfortable with his sexuality. To the point, he would start making sexual innuendo, while rare, he'd make them.

Then the attack happened and the Mother of Invention crashed. Agent Missouri made a decision that day, and they left Project Freelancer. At first, they didn't know what to do. Then realized they could pull a Carolina and forge documents to join under a new name.

And that was how Franklin Delano Donut was created.

A Tender Touch — A Lloyd and Zeta Art

Whoever said grayscale is the easiest part of coloring, I just wanna talk. Cause it was not easy! 🤣

Anyway, I managed to draw another piece with Lloyd and Zeta! For context: I wasn’t happy with the whole Harumi situation so I made an entire Oni OC that can connect with Lloyd’s journey as an Oni throughout Crystalized. Will do a full story of it one day? Maybe. But enjoy these little moments between Lloyd and Zeta.

So after the whole fiasco with the Onis from March of the Oni, Zeta would be staying with the Ninja for a large majority of her online classes. She would come out and help the Ninja with criminals but considering her ah… Strength and the accidental collateral damage to said criminals’ person, Zeta would only be called for the bigger threats. People who can actually take hits from an Oni. In the meantime, she’s at the Monastery attending her classes, taking care of Fergie, and doing some chores the Ninja assigned her.

Now, for the whole situation with Lloyd and Zeta’s relationship with each other. They’ve been through a lot already when the Onis invaded. Lloyd trusts her as friend and companion completely after she almost sacrificed her life for the Ninja to complete the Tornado of Creation. Zeta had already appreciated him when he told her what frogs eat. Seems like a good start to a relationship, right?

Well… You have to understand this was not long after the Sons of Garamadon. Lloyd is still trying to recover from Harumi, the first person he caught feelings for but it ended up so horribly wrong. And as we saw with the scene with Akita, he still thinks about her — to which I think he needs some SERIOUS therapy at this point. Lloyd is not ready to just jump into a next relationship.

But, it still didn’t stop him from catching feelings. Why wouldn’t he after seeing how serious she was about protecting Ninjago? How she almost died trying to help them save it. How she’s still working hard, every day to prove that she wants to live among them. Lloyd might be afraid to start a new relationship, but even with all his doubts he can see how much of good person Zeta is.

Now, on Zeta’s end? I have made it clear on multiple posts that Onis in my headcanon aren’t very affectionate. It was a very favor-the-strong society and if you weren’t strong, there would be no respect. Zeta’s experience with physical affection was almost non-existent since close contact was initiative of starting a fight for Oni’s. She didn’t even realize what physical affection was until she met Fergie, and even that didn’t stop her from accidentally suplexing the Ninja when they tried to give her physical affection.

So one can imagine how the romance department must be for Onis, right? Getting into some of my Oni headcanons, the closest thing to maybe a romance from Zeta’s understanding was when an Oni complemented another’s strength or fighting abilities, which for us can be considered a marriage proposal. And let me tell ya, the awkwardness Garmadon felt when he had to explain to the Ninja what that meant could be felt miles away.

Zeta’s pretty much in the same situation with Lloyd, as in she’s not ready for a romantic relationship. Zeta can barely understand what having friends means, how can she understand romance? Lloyd might be a ninja she’s closest too but even she doesn’t get romantic relationships either.

But who knows, maybe that shared struggle can help them be closer? Who can say? There’s a reason why I called their relationship: “Two Socially Inept Asexuals Try To Figure Out Romantic Relationships.”

Some info:

Victor’s name is for his his constant desire for victory, given to him by the squad’s main mandalorian trainer. Hes quiet, grumpy, can stand very still, and is bad in social situations. Good yelling voice. Hates bugs and can’t look at Elytra’s tattoos for too long before he gets the creepy crawley feeling. More of a strategist than a brawler, and he’s skinnier than Elytra and Fogs.

Fogs is a pretty relaxed and chipper guy. Despite his bright paint job, is great at sneaking around without being seen or heard. He’s the group’s tattoo artist, but he doesnt have any himself, and he’s been trying to convince the others to get piercings. Usually takes over the talking when Zeta-8 have to interact with people they don’t know. He originally wanted to name himself after a singer he likes (“Fogierana Shem”), but Fogs was all that caught on.

Feedback, also called “Feed” or “FB” by the others, has a long list of issues that the others have done their best to hide from higher-ups for fear of punishment. He went through some reconditioning when he was a tubie after displaying a lot of anxiety, but it didn’t really stop the issue. He’s a germaphobe who didn’t do well in the first few months of deployment. He’s jumpy and always has something to say. He mostly runs on stims and stress, and his memory sucks.

Elytra loves bugs. So much. He gets a tattoo of every new bug he gets to hold, and he HAS snuck bugs onboard. She’s the second best shot in the squad, and she’s VERY polite. Almost weirdly so, except with Fogs. Secretely yearns to have a normal natborn life.
