The Daily Diffuser- Green Mandarin, Basil, Sandalwood It’s Friday, y’all, and so it’s one of the busiest days of the week for me. I need energy, I need to focus, and I need inspiration. Today’s combo will help. Green Mandarin-this is actually a great skin care oil, but I mostly use it for diffusing bc I love the bright and cheery citrus scent. This oil makes me feel limitless, like I can do anything. Basil-I added a couple drops of this oil to help me fight adrenal exhaustion, a common side effect of the global pandemic as well as the end of the workweek. Allostatic load, anyone? Try basil. Sandalwood-Here’s my oil focus. It is a grounding oil, and it balances the Green Mandarin energy, which alone could have me bouncing off the walls. Something neat about oils is that when you try new combinations, you learn more about the properties of each oil. I’ve got a tension headache or baby migraine coming on- too soon to tell. Regardless, it’s peppermint and lemon in my diffuser today for the win. Peppermint is a great oil for headaches, and the brightness of lemon makes me happy when the headache dampens my spirits and makes me want to collapse back into bed. All essential oils are not created equal, by the way, and I love love love Doterra’s lemon. It’s the real thing. R keeps a bottle in Barrow and calls it her “COVID test.” You know how loss of smell is a COVID symptom? We are having a mini heat wave here in Chicagoland, and it feels a little bit like summer, so I’ve got lime and basil in my diffuser today, and yesterday was rosemary and lavender. Another night of “product research” for the perfect bath salt combo for the Christmas Baskets. I sent my brother home with black spruce, frankincense and lavender, and I’ve got lavender and Siberian fir going on in here tonight. I even went on a really long walk today to make my muscles extra sore to make sure the oils do what the promise! And I mean looong- like my dad texted me to see if I was ok bc I was gone so long. Both are infused with just enough coconut oil to make your skin feel like magic but not leave a ring on the tub. All I can say is that they are both winners in terms of scent and relaxation. Both transport you to a heavenly forest. I won’t be able to comment on muscle soreness for tonight’s combo until tomorrow, but yesterday I walked 12.5 and then used the other combo at night and no problem walking my biggie walk today. I have to say, also, that the secret to a good bath is a candle and lights out. Focus on the scent of the oils and the warm water and the Stevie Nicks in your earbuds. Before and after. The left is a mole on a friend that was itching and that she was concerned about. I put diluted frankincense on it only three times, like maybe over a period of a month. The pic on the right is the most recent. I’ve also got my dad using it on his face daily where his skin cancer is. He just has a scab now. I’m using it on weird skin aberrations of my own- one where I had a necrotic brown recluse bite in 2010. It’s gone! I need to get better at documenting all the changes. They are amazing. I’ve decided to see if I can just attack moles/sun freckles that I don’t like. Those three wise men were onto something. Let me know if you want to try this.
