Queer researchers seeking participants!!

We're a queer research team based out of University of Maine and Fordham University, recruiting 15-18 year-olds in the US for our study of mental health, coping, and online experiences. This study should take ~25-35 minutes to complete and does not require parental permission. Immediate family is your parents and siblings, and that's it. No grandparents, cousins, aunts, nephews, etc. No in-laws, either. I'm also not counting the immediate family you may have made as an adult (children and spouses).

I want to go to a gay bar

However I do not want to go to a gay bar because I do not, nor will I ever, drink alcohol. I do not particularly want to be around drunks.

So instead of a gay bar, I propose a Queer Cat Cafe.

Non allergenic cats ofc

There's a section of the cafe where the cats can't go if you don't want cats near you. That section is the library.

There are lil pride flags everywhere, even the obscure ones.

They sell pride pins for £1.50ish each at the counter.

There are LED lights.

It's autism friendly, lights can be toned down if needed and everything is neatly spaced out

You can have a sticker to write your pronouns on

i think some people need to realise the lgbtq+ community isnt the fucking oppression olympics. "ace/aro people arent a part of the community because they havent faced as much oppression and violence as the rest of us!" okay but theyre still queer. they dont experience love and attraction the way straight people do. theyre always welcome at pride, lgbt youth clubs, queer safe spaces etc.

people ALSO need to realise that just because you're queer in some way doesnt mean you get to be hateful to other queer people because you dont understand it/ dont think theyre "queer enough"(?)/ dont think they are actually queer.

gatekeeping and excluding certain groups who come to you for support and comfort makes you just as bad as any other homophobe. but in this case you're just hurting your own community.

We need disabled queer people

We need queer people who use multiple labels for themselves

We need queer people who's entire personality isn't being queer

We need queer people who aren't just there because of romance

We need real and diverse queer people in the media
