“Rayban charity glasses event” is a scam don’t click any link in a post that says that.
Old tumblr users remember this scam back when it first went out.
(Posted March 28th, 2025)
April 21st, 2025 edit to prove it’s real via a post where someone who got tagged in it shows the image in full without any phishing links:
(Don’t go the scam website for fun, it’s not funny when you get hacked.)

You can’t picture a scenario where someone might reasonably use both?
In practice (as you pointed out), the dead dove tag functions as an intensifier. So a fic summary that is marked both “creator chose not to warn” and “dead dove do not eat” is conveying Look, the author is specifically drawing your attention to the fact that they chose not to use warnings, which is not the same thing as saying that no warnings apply. Some heavy stuff goes down here, they just haven’t specified what. Choose Not To Warn = Enter At Your Own Risk, and in this case they REALLY REALLY mean that.
I actually don’t mind that “dead dove” has become conversational shorthand for “fics with heavy themes where you REALLY need to pay attention to the warnings”. such is the nature of language. what i do mind is when people tag their actual fics with dead dove and then give no indication of what they’re actually warning about. that is useless. that helps no one. that is completely against the spirit of the meme. i will not be reading that
#you can complain about the literal meaning of the meme and literally speaking you are not wrong!#but functionally and in practice dead dove = This Is A Warning Intensifier. Beware.#such is the evolving nature of language#on warnings

Sorry for double posting but APPARENTLY those commission scammers have showed up on Tumblr at least for the first time for me.
For those who don’t know what I am talking about, there were/are commission scams going on in Instagram and even places like Artstation where people would pretend to be interested in your work and try to commission a pet or portrait for the sake of trying to get your bank details. Here’s how to (somewhat) sniff them out:
1- They don’t seem to be an average customer/ person that would be involved in your fandom, or has a blank template for an account or don’t even follow you.
2- They ask you to draw a portrait or a pet picture either for themselves or their children/family.
3- They promise to overpay you (in the hundreds) and do not listen to you even if you firmly state the price is cheaper.
4- They are constantly asking for your email name, or private details regarding things like banking details or passwords or other private information others should not know.
5- They try and over reassure you they mean no harm, try to guilt you into giving them the info, or become aggressive over you not giving them what they want.
What should you do if you come across one of these guys? My best advice is to block and report. Sadly these people jump account to account so there isn’t really much to do other than spread this info to prevent artists from being scammed.
#scammers#scam alert#artist scam#pls spread if you can#sadly I’ve seen some folks fall for similar scams#scam#art scam#scam warning#commission scams

sorry to have to tell you this but if a stranger comes to your inbox or slides in your DMs asking you for your money with some sob story, no matter how tragic and convincing the story is, they are a scammer — especially if the story is obviously copied and pasted, formatted in the exact same way as the other 100 bots in your inbox

It’s ultimately not the most meaningful thing in the world to be angry about, but I do still get lowkey angry whenever I remember how the Kenobi show did content warnings in PEAK Congrats That’s The Worst Anyone’s Ever Done It fashion.
And it’s really not about the thing itself. I love Star Wars but let’s be honest it’s often silly, and Disney is evil, and this show in particular was VERY half-cooked. I can’t say I’m disappointed, because that would imply that I ever had higher expectations.
So what upsets me is not that this particular show handled warnings poorly. It’s that the specific *way* they were handled poorly is so emblematic of a particular, pervasive cultural blind spot, about what kinds of violence count as violence and what sorts of people matter.
