im having so much fun recreating my former self insert mary sue girlboss character because despite having somewhat a past together she is a completely different cliché of a person and i can just watch as she does her ass-kicking and spaceship-flying and war-crimes-committing and be like you go girl

discovered this guy that's extremely dedicated to making excessively antagonistic comments on every random post he sees wherein he behaves like a onedimensional racist serf from medieval fantasy and has such a childlike earnesty and longterm stamina about it that i can't just discard it as simple trolling. can we get him and cybersmith to play with toys together?!

Hi, since I haven't seen you say anything on this subject yet... What do you think about Dio's portrayal in the Phantom Blood musical? Imo its pretty OOC, probably even the most OOC portrayal of him, only rivaling CDDH. In Over Heaven you could at least ignore the noncanon shit (like him totally not meaning to turn into vampire when taking that mask to confront Jojo with him and seeing its effects on those drunks beforehand) by headcanoning that he either has gone completely schizo or is trying to manipulate Pucci (assumed trusted friend reader). But in the musical he is just so completely EMO its unreal. Tragic broken villain #1000 who is haunted by his past (Dario cPTSD) - you just can't get any less "Dio" than this! This is literally the opposite of his character. Even in aforementioned OH he admits that dwelling on the past is OOC and new for him, here on the other hand it's pretty much the core of his character (although it can be argued that Dio is heavily influenced by his past and his bitterness towards it, but he never dwells on it or even thinks about it for that matter). Why does every noncanon portrayal of Dio just has to be so off the mark :(?
PS: and OF COURSE normies are praising it as much deeper and non-onedimensional (unlike the icky canon) Dio's characterisation, eugh. They literally think that only the characters they can sympathise with are "3d".

This take is valid and it'd be a crime to add to it.

What do you think about toh handling Odalia as a character? I just know that i will get so much hate for saying my opinion. But to be fair, i am not really a fan of dana giving so much screentime for Blights only for Odalia to end up like incredibly onedimensional character. Like this screentime could be given to Gus and his father relationship. Legit there is no moment of healthy father and son/daughter bonding in this show fr. Gus and Luz could bond over Luz's grief. But no they need tu turn it again to a lumity moment😒
There is so much about Odalia that could’ve been cut in favor of screentime or development. Her screentime after the whole thing was just to show us that she’s a nonfactor.
To see Willow and Gus being so cut up about being away from their parents, they definitely deserved to have their relationships explored. If im being 100%, “Reaching Out” would have worked WAAAAYYYY better with Willow and Gus.
Like, they could’ve introduced Luz mourning that day but trying to hide it. They also could’ve introduced Flyer Derby and shown Willow’s ties with her dads while working in a visual of Gus and his father’s relationship(maybe him wishing Gus luck or happy that he’s trying something new). I could see Luz getting erratic with trying to help them win until she bursts and she comes out about her father to her 2 best friends. Willow and Gus, as Luz’s very first friends, should have had a more active role in her life.
Honestly, TOO MUCH time was wasted on the mf Blights(Amity included), when there were multiple ways to tie Willow and Gus into the story. Same with Raine and Darius, they deserved soo much more than what we got in the show.

Giving a bombastic side eye to Aardman's website every time they tell updates about the upcoming Chicken Run: Eggstraction mobile game
Because on one hand I'm excited because YAY MORE CHICKEN RUN CONTENT, esp since they had Nick Park as a consultant and mentioned that the game is gonna expand on the Chicken Run universe's world. And its gonna be inspired by the good old PS1 Chicken Run game!!
But at the same time it's apparently set directly after the events of Chicken Run 2. And as yall may already know, I reaaally disliked how they wrote Mrs Tweedy in the sequel (I LOVE HER cuntiness and how she is so prideful about her wealth LOL slay queen. but they really flanderized and simplified her character compared to the original movie, and turned her super onedimensional. Plus they clearly had never even opened the Chicken Pies For The Soul sidebook, which tells her backstory and expands on her broken psyche)
So I'm gonna assume they're gonna keep going with Sequel Melisha, and I'm rubbing my temples like GHHHHHHFJDJDJ
I do hope Mrs Tweedy will appear in the game, but I feel like in the worst case scenario it's gonna be lowpoly cgi Sequel Melisha spewing cheesy villain one liners like "well well what do we have here" or some shit LOL
I will of course check the game out when it arrives!! Especially since it seems like it's gonna have some sort of character customization, and I'm like HELL YEAH ive always wanted to be a chicken war criminal

River Song could have been such a better character if she was written by me (or any middle school teenage girl)...but alas
Like seriously how do you fumble such an intriguing story line and turn this character with so much potential in a onedimensional lovesick-selfsacrificial woman (but who's also a badass femme fatal in a male gazey way). It is so fucking frustrating. And insulting.
Also the dialogue written for her induces more cringe than Moffat's usual writing (and that's saying something).
The only episodes where I can tolerate River are her first two two parters.

I cant stand the MHA fandom's hypocrisy, everyone suspected that Dabi was Endeavor's son but mostly everyone was looking forward to it. But AFO being Izuku's father just appears to be blasphemy, its like they don't want to see Izuku or AFO being developed further, or the majority of fans just hate these two and want to see more Shigaraki and Bakugo. I think Hori is taking too long with the reveal and it won't give it time to breath but i still want to see it but the fandom pisses me off sometime
This is an very old ask (there are more of them 😭) I havent answered yet. Im so sorry!
Absolutely agree! I mean dabi being touya was obvious since at least the training camp arc, but pretty much EVERYONE was looking forward to it no matter how long it would take. Why is dfo different? There are as many hints and signs for dfo like they were for dabi = touya, but so many people still look at you funny when you take the time to point them all out! Like, do these people really want afo to stay an onedimensional villain without any deepness of his character? Its so bizarre to me. Meanwhile bakugou gets shoved EVERYWHERE even in things he has no business to be in and still people want more of him! 😒
And yes, the reveal takes WAY to long!

I find it very strange when people can only understand onedimensional characters like... a character can do a lot of shit and still have the right to be happy or a person can suffer and get more out of it than just being a victim.
I personally don't take criticism from the marauders fandom seriously because:
(1) the majority don't accept and/or understand complex and dimensional characters and want them to always be perfect (especially James, sorry to say this but whenever he is portrayed as the sunshine guy who never does anything wrong it's f*cking boring lol)
(2) these criticisms only apply to jegulus. let me say this as someone who was a bit hesitant about ‘jegulus’ at first, I've been in this fandom for a long time and wolfstar cheating fics was always a thing (which I adore lol) but no one in the fandom cares bc they don't like Tonks and for some reason they only find misogyny valid when it's a female character they like (and a ship they don’t like…).
also, writing a character to be cheated on does not make anyone misogynistic, nor does writing a female character to be portrayed as a ''villain'', we are not supposed to be always ''good girls'', we can be bad, we can do bad shit and we can be characterized like that.
anyway, sorry for the long ass essay, but I needed to say a few things about this endless hypocrisy.
i don't mind long ass essays as asks hahaha send as many as you want!! <3
and yes i think the problem is that people judge before reading or they also interpret it the way they want based off their own taste
and the world is not black and white like "you wrote James cheating on Lily so you are sexist!" or "you wrote Lily as a bitch so you must hate women" and people need to get that

The Best Song Yet To Come by treegoats / @nosafeanchorage Rated: T Words: 1946 Archive Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Category: Gen Characters: Theon Greyjoy, Wex Pyke Summary: Wex and Theon meet again.
Besides an incredibly sweet reunion, this is such an interesting look at ironborn culture (and a very funny external pov on some members of house Greyjoy) through the very snarky pov of a lowborn child and it feels really fresh and past the sometimes onedimensional portrayal in the books, with the different perspective and focus on the importance of oral history. The dynamic between Wex and Theon is such a touch of pure sweetness in the bitterness of the circumstances, Wex's oddly complete trust and loyalty feels perfectly justified and Theon struggling to break the cycle and give him all the validation and affection he has to give is so genuinely touching.

went to see "poor things" last night and I swear I will NOT touch another Alasdair Gray book in another 5-10 years
(don't get me wrong, I still admire the guy in many ways, especially for his takes on Glaswegian gloom. But his female characters are onedimensional all across the board)

I have a hard time with the demonization of Mr. Perry
Why's that?
I identify myself with Neil on a personal level, since I see him as bipolar, which I am, prone to obsessive interests while in mania and some worrying thoughts when in depression, as well as a child of an overbearing father who loved me and wanted the best for me, but had A LOT of shit to learn to deal with (including his own undiagnosed bipolar disorder) and needed to break free of his own overbearing father's model of fathering.
So I simply can't hate Mr. Perry. I see a lot of what my father once was before he got the help he needed and I admire the shit outta the man he is today and loved him still when he was the man who sometimes acted as a drill sergeant
I have no doubt Mr. Perry loved his son more than anything. That doesn't make his actions ok, but it does mean he was doing what he thought was best for his son, so, you can make him a control freak who only let Neil walk the path he chose for him and I'll accept it wholeheartedly, but him being hateful and violently abusive towards his child I can't. Is reductive and plain ooc, to be honest. You don't have to like the character by any means, but there's so much depth you're missing the opportunity to play with here when you reduce the man to his worst and turn him into a onedimensional villain

It's so frustrating when people take a villain who is all but explictly stated to be a trauma survivor in canon and treat them as if they were a onedimensionally evil dictator who actually didn't give a shit about the stuff theyre VERY CLEARLY SHOWN TO GIVE A SHIT ABOUT.
TBF its kinda canons fault for doing the same thing too but it feels the fandom is doing far worse at this point by removing everything that made the character interesting in the first place abd pretending theyre just a generic big bad. And this is a character whose most interesting traits are mostly implied so its frustrating.

WHY ANIMAL HAS BECOME THE FAVORITE MEMBER OF THE ELECTRIC MAYHEM
@softlytowardthesun @fragglesesamemuppetz2 @moonbeamelf @princesssarisa @amalthea9 @thealmightyemprex @goodanswerfoxmonster @the-blue-fairie @themousefromfantasyland

In recent years, the popularity of the wild and furry drummer Animal in the Muppets franchise has been questioned by some members of the fandom.
The questioning comes from the supposed fact that Animal , defined by his original performer Frank Oz with the words Sex, sleep, food, drums and pain, is meant to be a onedimensional character, only used in some quick gags and as a member of the (also suposed to be onedimensional) Electric Mayhem band.
If you're only familiar with the character in the 2015 ABC mockumentary work sitcom The Muppets and the YouTube Muppet Viral Videos, its easy to take that afirmation for granted.
But...
When you go back to watch episodes of the original The Muppet Show, the old movies and, specially, the underrated 1984 Muppet Babies cartoon, you will see that, compared to his other fellow band members, Animal may have started with the intent of being onedimensional, but quickly evolved to be much more.
And this Is down to one simple reason: he is the character who had more chances to act independently of the band, either acting on his own in a sketch, or interacting with the other Muppets and guest stars.
Dr Teeth is mainly leading the band. If all the five to six members aren't together, its guaranted that at least he will be with Zoot and Floyd Pepper.
Zoot, if not with the whole band, will be seen at least dancing with Janice in the ballroom.
Floyd Pepper may ocasionally be seen teasing Kermit and Miss Piggy, but he mostly hangs around to play with the band.
Janice can come close to be seen as a more independent character when she is acting with Rowlf and Miss Piggy in the Veterinarian's Hospital sketch, but most of the time, if not playing with all Electric Mayhem, will be either dancing in the ballroom with Zoot, or have a flirt with Floyd Pepper.
And them there is Animal. Where does he goes when he doesn't hang out and plays with the band?
He dances with different partners and provides jokes at the ballroom.
He has solo drumming numbers like in the Hawaiian War Chant opening number.
He competes for atention with guest stars like Rita Moreno and Harry Belafonte.
He gives troubles when he eats Gonzo's dancing mexican beans.
He got great moments in the movies like becoming a giant that scares away Doc Hopper and his gang in The Muppet Movie, and parodying the opening credits roaring lion logo of MGM in The Great Muppet Caper.
And finally, there was 1984's Muppet Babies, where he was the eight member of the staring group formed alongside Baby Kermit, Baby Piggy, Baby Fozzie, Baby Rowlf, Baby Gonzo, Baby Scooter and Baby Skeeter.
This time, it was definitly extablished that Animal isn't restricted to be a side character who only hangs out with the Electric Mayhem.
He is a protagonist alongside the main group of Muppets.
And in that encarnation, presented both in the cartoon and the comics, we learned that Animal is not only a thing that drums and eats every object around, but an actual character, with desires and afection.
Whe learned that he enjoys painting, specially to play with bright colours. He can be helpfull to build scenarios. He enjoys jungle adventure stories. He undertands the stories in the movies he and his friends watch and asks to play characters when they perform. He is curious, and when his friends get afrayed of a creature they never saw, Animal acts friendly and opens the window, asking the creature to play with them. He genuinelly enjoys Fozzie's jokes even before he can get to the punchline.
And there are also modern comics and children's books that present Animal living his own plots: suffering a depression and identity crisis when taking Bunsen's civilizing pills in Treasure of Pegleg Wilson, enjoying a spring romance with Meredith the Gorilla in The Four Seasons, meeting a rock singer of whom he is a big fan in Muppet Mash, and helping Fozzie to make a funny number with his drums in Fozzie's Funny Business.
So, for a long time now, Animal hasn't been popular for simply being insane, a good drummer or provider of funny quick gags.
Audiences conected with him because, while keeping the essence of Sex, sleep, food, drums and pain, he was also able to evolve, and be defined by being an independent character who transits in different groups or has solo staring moments, while also being a creative, kind and loyal friend.
His wildness is a vital part of the Muppet family.
