We could use your help!
Tumblr media
If you support the groundbreaking, inclusive, affirming, feminist, comprehensive, young-people-centered, queer sex ed for all we've provided for 25+ years to over 90 million people, please help us raise the $15K we need to pay our bills in 2024, or become one of 250 new donors we need for 2025! You can do that at Scarleteen.com/contribute or by heading to our site and clicking ‘Pitch-In ’. 🎉 If you’re already donating (thank you!) please consider increasing your monthly amount, if you can, even a little bit. We’ll count any increases we get towards our two goals! You can do that by clicking 'Manage Your Donation' in your latest donation receipt. If you can’t donate yourself, can you tell your friends, family and followers who we are, why you value our work and ask them if they’d be willing to donate? You can share this post and the link above, but using your own words is the most effective! Despite leading the way in SRE online from the 1990s on, and always making sure young people have access to good information even when it is suppressed elsewhere in their lives, we remain underfunded, including funding to pay our staff a fair, living wage. We need to meet this $15K goal to fund our most basic needs and our tightest budget. If you can help us do that, we can focus on providing awesome SRE, growing, improving and kicking-ass, and finding more funding for 2025. Thank you! ❤️

The Best Online Learning Resources for Nowadays
Tumblr media
The world of AI and virtual education is constantly evolving and growing. Whether you want to learn new skills or explore a subject or topic, online learning resources offer endless solutions. You can also complete an entire course on such platforms and save money compared to traditional classroom learning.
When students were forced out of school, it was challenging for them to find places to learn and develop new skills. The internet, however, saved the day, and many institutions started offering resources for online learning. In addition, many online platforms have made courses and training easier than before. Distance learning is a perfect way for most students to continue their education, so we’ve put together a list of online learning resources to help you find the best fit.
List of Top Online Learning Resources
1. Bloc
Bloc is an intensive option for students who want to learn quickly. It focuses on web development and offers a highly structured program running 25 hours per week over several months instead of short courses or lectures.
2. Canvas Network
Canvas Network provides open, online courses from educators worldwide. Canvas Learning Management System powers it and offers a place and platform for teachers, students, and institutions to come together and chat their courses for professional development, personal growth, and educational inquiry.
3. Khan Academy
Khan Academy provides an entirely free educational library of micro-lectures. It is a non-profit online platform focused on traditional academic subjects like humanities, science, mathematics, economics, and computer programming. Since the forum is free to use, anyone can get a taste of the topic before moving on to more advanced courses elsewhere.
4. SimpliTaught
SimpliTaught is an edTech platform offering curated content around key learning concepts. It offers opportunities for students to learn from the best educators worldwide. Learners can choose which key concept or course they want to take, and the AI-driven platform gives them a highly personalized learning experience based on their preferences and interests.
Also, educators, content creators, and institutions can come on the platform to create their courses to reach a vast majority of students and benefit from the AI+ML engine that lets them promote their courses, lesson plans, videos, audio, and other learning materials. SimpliTaught helps you to create, learn, and collaborate.
5. Coursera
One of the most well-known names in online education is Coursera. The platform has a vast array of online learning resources with a global roster of universities and partners offering more than 3,900 specialized courses. Most of the courses are free, or learners can use them to earn a degree from an accredited institution.
6. edX
edX is an educational platform that Harvard and MIT founded. It has taught more than twenty million people since its inception. The platform is a global non-profit organization that features courses from educators and universities all over the world in subjects such as computer science, engineering, languages, biology, marketing, electronics, and writing.
7. Academic Earth
Academic Earth is a repository of free online video lectures and courses from the world’s top universities and colleges. Students can find specific courses in many subjects and search by universities to learn what they are interested in. It is a smart search tool and an excellent site to start your academic journey.
8. Drawspace
Drawspace is an educational tool offering high-quality art lessons for all skill levels. Experienced art teachers design these lessons. They provide complete courses and individual classes to help students master different drawing techniques.
9. LinkedIn Learning
LinkedIn Learning offers subscriptions starting at $19.99 per month. It provides learners with extensive video skills and a tutorial library. Once you have subscribed, the services also include LinkedIn’s Premium Career features to assist you in growing your career.
10. Udacity
Udacity is a 100% online platform with a strong focus on technology. It has a small but well-crafted collection of courses. If you are looking to learn the latest tech skills, data science, AI, or cloud computing at home, Udacity’s data science program has instructors from companies such as Facebook and Salesforce. In addition, under the “nano degree” program, Udacity allows you to pay monthly for your courses. Their classes come with tech support, career services, and real-world projects.
11. Udemy
Udemy is well known for teaching and learning online. The company offers courses ranging from $10 to $500 based on your chosen class and educator. Most of their courses are inexpensive but costs quickly scale depending on the complexity of the subject matter. It gets a little expensive once you take more than one class on the platform.
12. Open Culture
Open Culture is a website that collects audiobooks, ebooks, textbooks, and other educational materials to support lifelong learning with free classes, videos, and audio. The non-profit educational site finds free learning resources from across the internet and gathers them under one platform. They make these materials available for students to quickly find what they want to learn.
Final Thoughts!
Online learning provides learners with chances to pursue their education and upscale their skills at their own pace and will. Whether you are just starting out or a professional who wants to upgrade your skills and work simultaneously, online learning resources help you tailor your education to your needs.

man someone in the notes of that AI post left a several paragraph long response like “but what if students don’t know how to write well? what if they’re socioeconomically disadvantaged and never got good writing instruction? they should be allowed to use AI” no they fucking should not because that is not going to help them develop their writing or benefit from writing instruction if they’re not fucking doing any writing themselves! a student who does their own work and gets a low grade but still actually practices writing is learning at least ten times more than a student who just plugs the prompt into chatgpt and doesn’t write at all

Polymour
I invented a word to describe someone you love
Polymour:
(noun) A person with whom you share a deep and intimate connection that is distinctly polyamorous and non-amatonormative; someone you love and share a relationship with, especially a relationship-anarchistic, non-romantic, and/or queerplatonic relationship
denotes love, significance, non-exclusivity, and a freedom from role-defined relationships
I think that practical use is the single best way to learn a new word, and certainly the best way to create one, so here's the gap in my life this word was made to fill.
So I've been in love with two people for a while, and we're all a-spec and very poly, and I'm very relationship anarchist. Relationship anarchy is in fact the only relationship model that makes any sense to me, that accurately works well with how I feel and doesn't feel like a trap, contract, or obligation.
I don't really like the word "partner", but these two people I loved and connected with, one of them did use the word partner and I wanted the validity of their other relationships. We will call this person MV.
The other person I connected with and loved, well they felt even more trapped by romance than I did, and it was clear we cared about each other very much, but "partner" was never going to be a word to enter their vocabulary, and I wanted to share in that too. We will call this person V.
So, I was MV's partner and V's friend, but to me, these felt the same. I loved them the same way, and our relationship structure was identical. They were (and are) both deeply important to me, but both words seemed insufficient. Speaking to anyone else, "partner" felt more obligatory than the way MV so freeingly used it, and "friend" sounded way more distant than the intimacy V put behind it. I didn't like either word, but more than anything, it hurt that I couldn't just say I loved them. It upset me that I loved them the same but our words were different.
What really sealed it was talking to a colleague about my two loves, I said MV was my partner and friend, and that V would never describe themself in those terms but that I loved them both the same. My colleague listened, and was happy for me, and it really seemed like they got it!
The next time I saw them, they had bought me two movie tickets, for me and my partner. It was sweet, but I could only think about how to upgrade the tickets to include all three of us, thinking those two would each go to Mv and V and I'd buy my own ticket to share treat them both to the movies and- And it hurt.
It was only a few days after that I invented this word in the shower. And it works so beautifully for us!!!!! V could relax because they knew that our love for them wasn't going to be the amatonormative trap we'd both suffered, and MV was just as relieved as I was to have a word that wasn't still so romancey and role-defined. We have a way to tell people that we're important to each other without worrying about those people's pressures or expectations, because well, we invented it.
Like everything good about relationship anarchy, instead of roles and contracts or hierarchy, we just get to focus on the love we feel.
When someone hasn't heard this word (because they obviously haven't), instead of managing someone else's baggage, we just get to teach them how we all love each other.
So it works well, for me and my polymours.... <3

Do you think you’ll ever do art commissions?
^^
Tumblr media
im not really sure. art commissions would let me work at my own pace and make money on the side, but im worried of things thatll get in the way
firstly im more used to drawing for myself. ive drawn other ppls characters and fanart, but those are on my own whims and pace and i dont have to negotiate things with anyone. drawing for someone else can be helpful since i work best with instructions, but im not very keen on doing things im not interested in and i might be hard to work with
i also avoid using online payments when i can, so im apprehensive around making online transactions. etransfer policies arent very kind to artists and theres also the risk of disclosing my personal information
given the industry im going into, im aware that im gonna have to figure out how to tackle these sooner or later, and maybe then ill be confident enough to manage commissions. but right now its fuzzy

Funding update: We're still short
Tumblr media
Co-director Jacob here, with an update on our current fundraising efforts. We sure appreciate your understanding this interruption to the award-winning sex and relationships education programming we’d much rather be spending our time providing for you! Just over 200 wonderful folks have made a donation or become a recurring donor since we started, but we are still short of our goal! We’re still 171 new recurring donors and 5K short of 15K we need to pay our most basic bills through the end of 2024 to help us avoid cuts to our staffing and services in 2025. We'll need just around as many people as have already pitched in to close the economic gaps we're up against, and help from people who value what we do to close them. You know the drill! If you can pitch in financially, and especially as a recurring donor, we’d love and appreciate your help at any level. If you can’t, or you already have and want to help some more, making your own posts about us, why you value us, and directing your circles to our work and where to donate to support it can go such a long way. Thank you for keeping us trucking, especially to those of you who have donated now or in the past, and those of you loudly banging this drum for us out here! Here's the link to donate for yourself or to direct others to:

Has the dragon tots from your COI au gone through silly temporary hoards before finding their current ones?
Cause i saw this tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8Rrn2MY/
And i just immediately thought of mikey and donnie
(The TikTok link, as easier access for y’all ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ)
I am so in. But maybe not in the way you think—
I’m thinking Raph got his hoard first, which was a huge learning curve for all of them. Why did the dragonet suddenly just start hogging all the plushies?? Why was he genuinely struggling so hard when Splinter tried to teach him about sharing?? Like it’s clear he knows, he shares everything, even their sparse food! Why PLUSHIES of all things??
Their dad had a lot of deep conversations with Raphie to try and make sense of it, assuming it was just a child thing he never heard of, or possibly even a sign of something like autism or ADHD? He didn’t know! He was no psychiatrist! Could a dragon even HAVE something like that???
But the way Raph described the feeling didn’t seem to match up with anything Splinter could find online. It took a lot to figure out it was just a dragon’s instincts (including Splinter risking his life to get into the Mystic Library in order to find SOMETHING on dragons… In the end, that book was extremely helpful, though very basic).
When they finally figured out what a hoard was, Leo and Mikey (and sometimes Donnie, but he got his real hoard pretty quick too) started to choose fake hoards that changed CONSTANTLY. One week it’s action figures, the next it’s comic books, and then it was rocks. Whatever they wanted, they just claimed hoard.
Splinter eventually stopped taking them very seriously, until eventually the hoards they claimed lasted a lot longer than just a week or two XD
