Yu Yu Hakusho x Jalan CM

"I didn't see a hot spring for nothing!"

湯♨️湯♨️白書 (Yu Yu Hakusho) is a pun with the title! The kanji "湯"can also be read as "Yu" and it means "hot bath/spring", different from the kanji "Yuu" (幽, ghost) and "Yuu" (遊, play) of the original title 幽☆遊☆白書 (Yuu Yuu Hakusho). It seems Elder Toguro shapeshifted into that bucket where the cat is relaxing.

Jalan.net, a travel reservation site operated by Recruit, released a new web commercial with Yu Yu Hakusho. Many characters from "Yu Yu Hakusho" experience the limited time sale "Jalan Special Week", which is offering discounts and coupons for accommodations.

The content was exclusively drawn and recorded for this WebCM. The story, narrated by Nozomu Sasaki like a Next Episode Preview, depicts Yusuke Urameshi and his friends, exhausted from the fierce battles of the Dark Tournament, taking advantage of limited-time sales and enjoying luxurious inns and hot springs.

好きな漢字: 柚 (yuzu)

柚 (yuzu) is a citrus fruit that is recognizable in Japan, as well as other parts of East Asia. It is commonly used in Japanese cooking, similar to how lemons are used in cooking in the West.

The kanji has two radicals: the leftmost being 木, meaning tree, and the rightmost being 由, although its meaning isn’t especially relevant.

This kanji is an example of a common structure in kanji where the left side indicates its category. In this case, the category is related to trees. Meanwhile, the right side indicates the (onyomi) pronunciation, which, in this case, is yu or yuu.

In Japanese cooking, yuzu has a wide variety of applications, being used in sauces, alcohols, and sweets. Perhaps the most notable example is ponzu, which is used as a dipping sauce for a variety of popular dishes, including takoyaki, which I love!

Another application of yuzu comes in the form of yuzu baths, or 柚子湯 (yuzuyu). Yuzu are revered not just for their citrusy taste, but also their aroma, and they are believed to have a plethora of health benefits in baths. In Japan, is a popular tradition to take a yuzu bath during the winter solstice, and you may also find yuzu floating in onsens over there.

Speaking of, they also tend to populate the very trendy pictures of capybara in onsens!

One last thing I’d like to add is that yuzu is often written as ゆず and can be also be written as 柚 or 柚子. The last one I was curious about, and I learned that Japanese words may end in 子 to indicate smallness, cuteness, or familiarity even if they have nothing to do with children. Very interesting!

this is a long shot, but do you by any chance remember the name of a fic from like 2016? it had one chapter left that the author never posted, and I believe it was rated M. i can't remember much about it other than on the last chapter, they were going to school trip to an... onsen? or something? and mika said he was going to make yuu sorry for what he did (it wasn't anything angsty, but it did get pretty smutty starting at chapter 5 💀)

Yuu was completely enthralled with Akihiko. Hearing his stories of his past, eating the delicious food he recommended, getting completely lost is the dark, ashe like color of his eyes as he speaks so fondly about the owner of this little cafe, of this formerly bustling onsen town…If only his body hasn't jolted him out of his completely concentration on Akihiko. 

He went to take another sip of the warm rice based drink, after losing count of how many free refills he has been provided, he finally feels warm from the inside out and is dying to pee. Yuu honestly, had to go before Akihiko and him even go onto the train. Having waited at the station for almost an hour beforehand, drinking a hot coffee from a nearby vending machine to stay warm, He figured they would be at their destinations soon and he could relieve himself there, except, they were on the train for two hours…

Now, he doesn't want to get up, break the flow-oh god don't think about things flowing-of their conversation to excuse himself to the restroom, a restroom he hasn't seen. He has been looking. Whenever Akihiko breaks the conversion to take a bite, chew and swallow it, he has let his eyes wander around the small cafe, finding only a door back to the kitchen and nothing more.

“Aki-chan, would you two like desert? Its on the house!” Mimino-san comes back over to clear their plates, 

“Are you going to let me pay for anything? Come on, I gotta show Yuu-san that I'm treating him on our first date, like a gentleman.” Akihiko jokes with the older woman. It makes Yuu’s heart swell, imagining this is how Akihiko might interact with his own grandmother. 

“Yuu-kun! You mustn't let our princess pay!” Mimiko jokes, hustling back to the kitchen, presumably not taking no on the deserts. 

“Akihiko…How does Mimiko know about Aki-chan?” Yuu asks, genuinely curious. He was under the impression that Akihiko’s crossdressing was a very, very big secret from the hushed tone he recalled his past in, but clearly, Mimiko san thinks of Akihiko as a girl, or rather a princess. 

“Ah, well, I left that part out for a reason, it's rather embarrassing.” Yuu swears he can see a faint blush creep up on his cheeks, and now he had to know, 

“Come on, you read my horribly embarrassing english essays, I think I deserve some blackmail material on you.” Yuu teases, He wiggles slightly in his seat, pushing his cup of amazake away so he doesn't take another sip. He just has to get through the desert and then he can slip away to the restroom at the train station. 

“I thought I was so smart, you know, coming here where nobody would know me. I was pretending to be so confident…but I actually thought I still looked like a guy.” Yuu can't believe that, 

“But, you. Um, sorry if this isn't a compliment anymore, but you look very feminine…I actually thought you were a woman the first time I saw you.” Yuu is only slightly embarrassed at the admission hen Akihiko's face lights up, 

“I thought so, most people do when they see me from behind, but you still found me attractive when you found out I was a man…?” Akihiko teased further, 

“Even more so…actually.” Yuu blushes extremely hard at admitting that out loud, but pushes past it, urging Akihiko to continue with his story. Mimiko quietly drops off two bowls of Zenzai, a sweet red bean soup with mochi. 

“Well, Even so. I didnt think my whole plan through and one week while I was here, I ended up drinking a little too much at juice bar, free samples and such. I didnt have alot of money cause I was paying for my own university but…” Akihiko pauses, taking a big spoonful of his desert. Yuu does the same but cringes as he feels more liquid being added to his body. Of all the traditional desserts, mimiko-san had to choose the only liquid one he could think of. 

“I wasn't nearly ready to go home but I really had to um, relieve myself…” Yuu’s eyes go wide. Of course, when he is in this predicament, this would be the story Akihiko is telling. He tenses his legs under the table, uncrossing and recrossing them. 

“Oh-” Yuu doesn't know how to respond, he just wants to sound natural, not like he has to ‘relieve himself’ extremely badly right now. 

“Yeah and I was dressed like a woman, but I didn't think I really looked like one, and I was well am, a man. Going into the women's restroom like that was, well, not an option and the mens also could have been dangerous…” Yuu feels bad for Akihiko’s past self. He can definitely relate to the feeling of needing to go and nothing having a place to. 

“So, I went on with my day, just hoping it would go away…but that's not how it works. I ended up wobbling into Mimiko-san’s shop, like, hands between my legs.” 

“Oh my god.” Yuu laughs slightly at the mental image, he gently rests his free hand in his lap, realizing he can hold himself under the table without Akihiko seeing. He instantly feels relief. 

“Yeah, it wasn't my finest moment. I found Mimiko-san, she was younger and bussing tables, I frantically ran up to her, asking if he has a restroom…completely forgetting to change my voice at all-” 

“So you sounded like you do now?” Yuu asked, he was picturing Aki-chan with a very high pitched, normal female japanese voice this whole time, but he guesses, Akihiko couldn't really change his voice that much.

“A little higher, but basically yes…Mimiko-san did clock me immediately but she told me there were public restrooms at the station and they only had a private restroom for staff in the back and I didnt know what to do, so I…Lifted up my wig, showing her my short hair, and I just said  ‘I either use your restroom or your floor, miss’ and she took me back, and then helped me fix my hair and did my makeup and yelled at me for how dangerous what I was doing was and then, she let me always get changed here for a year, until I went to the states.” 

‘Wow. Mimiko-san was just…okay with it?” Yuu asked, normally, older japanese women were very set in their ways about lgbt stuff, if they even know what it is. 

“Yuu, Mimiko is a trans woman…Why do you think she and her husband are still running this shop, she never could have any kids and in japan…she cant adopt.” Yuu’s eyes widen, 

“I-I had no idea!” He looks over at Mimiko-san shocked, but happy, happy she was able to help Akihiko in his time of need, now thought, he knows there is a bathroom but- is his circumstance really bad enough to ask to use the private restroom…

Yuu decides not to ask when Mimiko-san comes over and tries to refuse Akihiko’s payment and tip, Arguing that they don't do tips in Japan and Akihikp arguing back that he lived in San Francisco, and to not disrespect his American culture. Mimiko ends up taking the money and hugging Akihiko and himself goodbye, the tight squeeze of her arms around his body makes his shift in place, reeling how badly he has to go now that he is standing up. 

Leaving the cafe, Yuu expects Akihiko to turn to the train station, but he doesn't, instead, Yuu’s hand is taken once more and they head in the opposite direction. Five minutes later Yuu finds himself casually strolling through a park with Akihiko, hand in hand, it would be romantic. If Yuu didn't have his other free hand, in his pocket squeezing his cock for dear life, squeezing everything for dear life at this point. 

“If it's too busy, we can…not- '' Akihiko goes to pull his hand away, but Yuu is also squeezing it. He didn't even realize he was doing it. Yuu lets him go but without Akihiko pulling him along, he cant find the will to move, to part his legs. He really, really should have spoken up at the restaurant, but it's too late. They left, they have walks farther from the station, too far, too-

“You feeling alright? Let’s sit down, okay?” Yuu can't even process Akihiko moving him over to a nearby bench, assisting him in sitting down. He feels wetness drip onto his upper lips, he is sweating, yet he can see his breath. “Do you feel like you're going to be sick?” Akihiko asks, and Yuu can hear the worry and sincerity in his voice, Yuu doesn't say anything, not trusting his voice, he just shakes his head, he wishes he was sick, but no, he is about to wet himself because he cant speak up for himself. 

“Can you walk? Maybe you need some water-” Akihiko goes to stand, but Yuu cant. He is leaking, he feels it. His boxers soak it all up, but if he stands, it will be all over, He won't be able to hold it. 

“Hide me.” Yuu reaches up and grabs Akihiko's hand. He is going to wet himself, for the first time in years, on his first date with a guy, with Akihiko. 

“What? I don't understand, Yuu, What's wrong?” Akihiko is bending down in front of him, looking him in the eyes. Yuu can't, He cant hold it, He can't be looking at Akihiko when it happens, so he leans his head forward, slumping his weight into Akihiko’s suit jacket shoulder, Whats starts as a small drip, erupts into a waterfall falling through the wooden slats of the bench, onto the concrete park walkway below them. 

“Oh-” Yuu can't take the acknowledgment of Akihiko knowing what has just hapepned.He feels him, Akihiko pulling away, Yuu covers his face with his hands, not longer being shielded by Akihiko's warm body. He feels so utterly alone and humiliated. 

“Mommy- is that man okay?” He hears the child's voice, followed by rushed shushes from a few women, He is crying, shaking, when he feels the warm, soft fabric off something falling over his lap. 

“Sorry, there, nobody can see now. You're okay. If you didn't feel well, you should have said something.” Yuu finds the familiar warmth of Akihiko inffront of him, un-shielding his eyes, he sees Akihiko's suit jacket covering his lower half, that is now wet and cold, His accident having long finished during his breakdown. 

“I-I’m sorry.” He sobs, He isn't sick, He is just an idiot, an idiot with a small bladder, and an idiot who is beyond embarrassed.

“It's okay, seriously. Let's get you home. You need to rest and get cleaned up.” Akihiko stands, but Yuu doesn't. He knows what he looks like, it's so obvious he wet himself, 

“Here, Tie this around your waist, nobody will see.” Yuu stands, letting Akihiko take his own suit jacket from his lap and tie it around him. It's still obvious from the front what happened, but at least some people will be oblivious to his shame. “Come on, if you need to stop for anything, let me know, okay?” Yuu nods, still not wanting to speak and follows Akihiko to the train station.

Doubt Season 4 (Liar! Dark lies) 9th Liar translation - The true identity of the god of death who was always beside me

It’s been half a month since the incident with Yuu-kun and it’s now August. MC reflects on how it’s been 10 months since she moved into the share house and she’s remembering the faces of the liars she’s slapped so far (LOL). But then she remembers that Cassie advised her that there are 9 liars, and that one of them is dangerous and awful beyond saving.

MC is off to visit Hime-chan, who is finally being discharged next week. She receives a TalkTime from Hime-chan, which reads “zJhjb” which MC thinks is a typo. MC enters Hime-chan’s room, finding her watching a movie. MC asks her about the message she received, and turns out Hime-chan was using spy code, and the message read “come quickly”. Hime-chan is obsessed with spy movies lately and is learning coded language. Hime-chan invites MC to learn along with her and passes her a book on the subject.

 When she will be discharged, Hime-chan wishes to go watch “0007” (yes the extra 0), go to a beautician and go to an onsen. Hime-chan confesses that she became “Himeno Reiko” in order to obtain her happiness but obtaining something on the surface alone only results in lying to herself. She has decided that she won’t hurt herself further, because someone who can’t even treasure herself won’t obtain happiness. MC believes that Hime-chan’s smile now is the most beautiful she’s ever seen (on her). MC is relieved that Hime-chan is doing well mentally and physically.

Hime-chan shows MC a website she found while surfing the internet called “victim’s cry”, the contents are strange and disturbing and give off a “real” feeling. MC opens the link she receives from Hime-chan, and it takes her to a blog. It writes – “All contents are fictional and are the products of the author's imagination.”

Reading the contents, MC finds the first story has a weird scenario, but does seem oddly real. The next story title reads “after taking medication, another person is born within me” which stirs something in MC. The contents strongly resembles that article Sumika found (the one called “how to create multiple personalities”). MC suspects the writers for both are one and the same person.

Hime-chan points out one article in particular that stands out the most as being strange. It is dated August 3rd and writes “That morning, I was standing in the kitchen frying karaage. It’s my daughter’s first excursion so I’ve decided to make her beloved karaage for her bento.” The writing makes MC’s skin prickle. Reading further, it details that while riding a bicycle, a traffic collision has left the person in a vegetative state. MC mumbles aloud “No way, this story..” (ㆀ˘･_･˘)

Hime-chan asks if MC is okay, because her face has gone pale white. MC explains that when she was in kindergarten, her mother was involved in a traffic accident on August 3rd which has left her in a coma since. That day, her mother had made her karaage for her excursion lunch. Hime-chan is shocked that it matches the contents of the article exactly. They both out loud, draw the conclusion that this story about a victim, is MC’s mother… Hime-chan further deduces that the person who wrote this is the one who made MC’s mother suffer.

MC murmurs there isn’t enough evidence at the moment but she’ll have to investigate further. Hime-chan offers to help too. Hime-chan declares that because MC was the one who saved her, this time it is Hime-chan’s turn to help out MC and that together, they will definitely expose the culprit. MC is grateful and thanks Hime-chan and takes a screenshot of the blog.

MC tries to calmly reread the blog contents and realises that perhaps that time when her mother had woken up and said “listen carefully… it’s not… your father… that day… the one who…” *cough* MC guesses that the name of the culprit was likely going to follow.

MC leaves Hime-chan’s room and sees Ichimura-sensei, who questions why she has a perplexed expression. When she doesn’t answer right away he guesses it must be due to work being hectic lately and understands she must be tired. He offers to help her if there’s anything she needs. MC reflects on how when her mother was admitted to the hospital, Ichimura-sensei was a 25 year old medical intern. Back then, he had also been kindly looking out for MC. Ichimura-sensei asks MC to go to the staffroom to collect a copy of Himeno-san’s (Hime-chan’s) discharge paper. He tasks MC with it, since he will be out tomorrow. He continues with that he knows that Himeno-san is MC’s good friend, so seeing her get better makes him happy too.

MC thinks to herself that he has a lot of charm, as a person and as a man. He asks if MC has time tomorrow night, would she like to join him for a meal together as he has something he wants to give her. MC is happy because she feels she’s been invited on a date. She accepts. She feels relaxed and her anxiety disappearing when she is with him. She feels that if she were to marry him then she would likely be very happy.

That night, she has a dream about the time she was a child. MC is asking her mother for karaage in her bento, and she obliges by putting two big pieces in her lunch. Her mother tells her to have fun on her trip and be careful. When MC opens her bento to have her lunch was the moment the hospital contacted her kindergarten teacher (to deliver the bad news..). MC is now in the hospital asking her mother why she won’t wake up, and where it hurts. Then, she feels a presence behind her.

MC wakes with a start, heart pounding. She believes the dream was a result from reading the blog earlier. She goes to get a drink of water to calm down. In the living room, she finds Okura sitting on the sofa drinking whiskey. She finds it strange since when he’s in the share house he basically spends all his time in his own room. She declares she will also have a drink to aid sleep and he rebuts with “kids should just go straight to bed.”

MC replies that she is an adult and feels like having a highball, she takes his whiskey and mixes it with some soda water. With Okura’s “do as you wish”, MC feels that he accepts her as she is. In the past, she felt the quiet and unexpressive him was hard to get along with but now his quietness at times like this comforts her.

MC asks Okura when he joined the Ryumon gang but his response is “why do you want to know that” and she wonders what he did before then. He replies that it has nothing to do with her. He asks what’s wrong, because she wouldn’t get up in the middle of the night otherwise. MC admits she dreamt of the past and recounts part of the dream before she starts shaking. He asks MC to put out her hand, and place a pink strawberry milk candy into it, telling her to have it and stop crying. MC exclaims that she’s not a kid and that she’s not even crying. They both continue drinking and chatting and one hour later MC starts to get sleepy. MC thanks Okura for keeping her company but she stumbles when she gets up, so he supports her and admonishes her because she’s had too much.

He helps her to her room and she thinks about how strong he is, and how tall he’s gotten. MC inwardly criticises herself, that she must be quite drunk if thinking about Okura like this makes her heart race. When they both accidentally meet eyes, they look away. MC insists she can reach her room by herself but he just continues helping her. He tells her he’ll still be up, so if she has another bad dream she can go find him. MC crawls back into bed, and asks her mother to continue watching her from above.

 6am the next morning, MC is awake and up bright and early, thanks to Okura preventing any bad dreams. She finds him in the living room, and asks why he has a suitcase out. He’s leaving. MC is shocked that he is moving out without saying anything to anyone. His response is that it is too troublesome looking after MC and everyone. MC presses him as to whether there’s more to it than that but again, he replies that it’s none of her business. MC voices aloud that she just thought they were starting to get closer but he interrupts, pointing out that she’s mistaken and that he didn’t move in to get closer to her. When she questions why he came then, his answer is to fulfil his duty. MC guesses aloud that he means he came on her father’s orders but he remains silent. He turns to leave and MC grabs his sleeve, telling him to wait and not to go. MC is shocked to see a rare surprised look on his face and apologises, because the words came out because she felt he was going far away somewhere. Okura reproaches her for suddenly “making a womanly expression” and takes something from his pocket, holding it to MC’s face.

He voices for her to keep it on her always and gives one final “see ya, kid.” He ruffles her hair and leaves. Karen comes in, having just returned from work and remarks that she saw Okura leave with a suitcase, wondering if he’s going on a trip. MC explains and Karen complains that it’s hard to understand Okura.

At work, an envelope titled “To MC” is on her desk. Inside is Hime-chan’s discharge form. MC makes a copy for record keeping.

She writes a receipt for it, using one of those carbon copy notepads, however she forgets how to write the kanji for “seki” in “shoseki.” She searches it up on her phone and writes it down.

After work, MC meets Ichimura-sensei at the restaurant he made a reservation at. She’s a little nervous becomes it seems like a fancy restaurant. He is reading a medical text and she praises him for being so studious, and he responds that his career is his life’s worth. Then he comments that it wore out his ex-fiancée. MC is surprised to hear that, and he explains it was a long time ago – back when he was a medical intern and gave work his all, leaving no time for a private life. Because of that his fiancée left him, and got engaged to someone else. Time continued and he got to this age while still being single. MC realises this lines up with the time her mother was admitted to the hospital, and questions him if it’s because of that he had no private life. He denies it, and that it was of his own volition that he wanted to be in charge of her hospital stay. He elaborates that he strives in his work precisely because he wished MC’s mother would wake up again. MC expresses her gratitude.

Ichimura-sensei however, points out that he is also a man, and that her praise would give him expectations. Ichimura-sensei takes out a silver ring from a ring case and explains this is what he wanted to give to MC. He confesses that he adores her and that she probably believes it is sudden but it’s not. From the day he met her he’s always felt that he wanted to support her. MC asks if he means the day she came to the hospital when her mother was admitted. He confirms it, saying something like before he realised it she’s grown up to be beautiful and resolute woman. Though he knows there’s an age gap, he was happy to watch MC and protect her from a distance before but because of the recent events he’s had a change of heart. He wants to protect MC properly with his own hands. He again proclaims he loves MC just the way she is, and asks if she will spend the rest of her life with him. MC is happy about his feelings but can’t answer so quickly or easily.

MC asks for some time to think it over and he asks her to keep the ring, and if she returns his feelings to put it on.

 When MC returns home she thinks about going to her father’s place the next day to ask him about it all, as well as her mother’s accident. Okura’s shoes are no longer in the shoe stand and it again hits her that he’s gone. MC does the usual FindFriend surfing before bed.

 The next day, MC goes to see her father. Okura is not around. MC has come to ask her father to tell her more about her mother. He pulls down her mother’s diary to give to her. The last entry is from August 2nd and reads “tomorrow’s the excursion. I hope it’s sunny. I made plenty of karaage which my daughter loves. When I saw her off, I went to visit Isuke (MC’s father) who I hadn’t seen for a while. Tomorrow is our precious anniversary.” MC asks her father about it, and he explains August 3rd is the day they met, and is their anniversary date. It was when Sayuri (MC’s mother) was on her way to meet him that the accident occurred. He elaborates that the first one to find Sayuri at the accident was Okura, he had just happened to be passing by, found her and then called the ambulance. She didn’t wake up again when she was brought to the hospital and when the staff gave up on her, Ichimura-sensei was the only one who kept going without giving up. From then until now, he has been the doctor in charge of Sayuri.

MC questions her father if Okura joined Ryumon gang since that incident, but he denies it, as Okura joined 10 years after that. MC’s father doesn’t know anything about his past but as he said before, he trusts him deeply from the bottom of his heart. He admits that Okura is mysterious but should MC’s father die, then he feels relieved to leave the Ryumon gang in the care of MC and Okura. He invites MC to visit Sayuri’s grave with him, because today is the anniversary.

At the grave, MC’s father loudly declares “Sayuri, we’ve arrived!” and MC berates him for yelling lol. He’s not fazed, and insists Sayuri would be smiling now.

MC puts her hands together and pays her respects. Noticing the date on the grave which says “August 3rd 19XX” MC is again reminded that August 3rd is their anniversary date. With her father’s permission, MC takes a photo.

She considers how even though her father and mother went through a lot of difficulties, they loved each other dearly until the end. MC recounts Ichimura-sensei’s proposal to her to her father. He is overjoyed and exclaims he has no regrets but she warns him not to get ahead of himself as she hasn’t yet decided. He queries if MC has any other man she is interested in. Okura’s face floats into her mind, but she thinks it’s awful she’s thinking of two men. As if her father can read her thoughts, he proclaims that she can love as many men as she likes lol and that she should test them until she finds the one man who is right for her. He continues with “love is a war, those that win survive and those are the rules of this world!” MC believes it’s so like her gang leader father to think that way. Her father explains that him choosing Sayuri and being blessed with the treasure that is MC makes him the happiest man. Again, he tells her to pick the partner that will make her happy.

Back at the share house, Karen and MC are in MC’s room and she recounts the proposal. While Karen is looking at the ring MC also confesses her new awareness of Okura to which Karen replies that MC is finally being honest with her feelings. Karen points out there is a message inscribed within the ring and asks MC what it means. However, MC doesn’t understand Latin. Karen searches it up and it means “Flowers bloom towards the everlasting future, without ever wilting” and Karen gushes that Ichimura-sensei is a romantic. Karen advises MC to be true to her heart and make the choice that she won’t regret.

MC is flicking through her mother’s diary and finds an entry that reads “Ryumon gang’s enemy group are starting to move. I need to take precautions.” That was July 22nd. On a different entry, “On the way home shopping with my daughter, I feel like someone is following me.” That entry was July 30th, 4 days before the accident. MC suspects it could be the person who targeted her mother. She tries to go on the blog again, but now it reads “this website cannot be accessed.”

MC receives a TalkTime message from her father, who is wondering if MC has seen Okura, as he cannot get in contact with him. MC hasn’t though. MC then receives a call from Hime-chan who screams “HELP ME MC! I’M GOING TO BE KILLED!!”

Hime-chan quickly explains she knows the culprit, and that their name is –

And just like that MC hears the sound of paper being ripped and one last “AHH!! HEL-” before the phone beeps out. MC extremely worried, rushes like the wind to the hospital. MC hurries to Hime-chan’s room and on the way, sees Okura standing in front of the emergency exit.

MC arrives but the door to Hime-chan’s room is locked. She desperately yells for her to answer. Pressing her ear to the door she hears some rustling, and believes someone is inside. Sumika arrives, hearing the ruckus and MC pleads her to go get the key and she rushes off. By the time Sumika returns MC no longer feels the presence of someone inside. They turn the key but the door won’t open. They both work together and force it open and find a rope wrapped around Hime-chan’s neck which was tied to the door, hence why it couldn’t be opened. Not only that, there are countless cuts on Hime-chan’s wrist, which is bleeding profusely. MC checks Hime-chan is still breathing (thankfully she is) and calls the staffroom. Ichimura-sensei answers.

MC asks him to come assist. He arrives and delegates Sumika to stop the bleeding at the wrist, and asks MC to help carry Hime-chan to the floor after releasing the rope. MC also notices other scratch marks on Hime-chan’s neck. MC also notes that Ichimura-sensei has a bandaid on his right hand. MC is tasked to call for back up to move Hime-chan to the ICU and as she runs out of the room she thinks she sees someone who looks like Okura leaving.

Once Hime-chan is safely at the ICU, MC is back at Hime-chan’s original room, thanking Sumika for her help. Sumika can’t believe Hime-chan would be trying to commit suicide which MC vehemently denies but Sumika points to the suicide note left on the desk. She advises MC not to disturb the items since the police are probably coming, and takes her leave. MC can’t believe Hime-chan would do such a thing since she was looking forward so much to being discharged. MC finds Hime-chan’s fake nails, which would explain the scratch marks on her. She looks at the other items on her desk.

MC looks at the ripped memo which looks like nonsense, the only part she can understand is “on the computer.” She recalls how on the phone Hime-chan said “the culprit is” and realises Hime-chan likely solved the culprit for MC’s mother’s accident who then took action against Hime-chan. Since the door was locked, she wonders how they left the room. She notices the window to the balcony is slightly ajar. Looking outside, the balcony isn’t partitioned, so they could have gone to the adjacent room. In front of the emergency exit there’s also a slide for emergency use, which they may have used.

MC visits Hime-chan in the ICU and her sleeping form overlaps with the memory of MC’s mother. MC feels guilty and believes that what happened was her fault, and clasps her clothes. She notices something in her pocket and remember the omamori Okura gave her is in there. Looking at it, she notices a thread is off colour and inspecting closely, finds a small GPS inside with 83 written on it. Sumika appears, expressing MC she understands she is worried but she can’t be seen here. MC explains the circumstances and Sumika states she will go find out who visited Hime-chan yesterday, and the records show that she had one visitor, which was Okura. He also appeared at ICU, saying he wanted to see Hime-chan’s condition but of course was refused. Sumika openly wonders how he knew Hime-chan was in ICU.

MC goes out to the lobby to rest and think, finding Ichimura-sensei. MC queries him about the bandage on his right hand, his reply is that he was scratched by a cat. He advises MC to go home and rest and he will do the same, and that he has instructed staff to contact him if anything changes with Hime-chan’s condition. MC decides to check up on the emergency exit slide before leaving. She finds an old newspaper in there, dated August 4th 19XX with a story detailing how a woman aged 30 was involved in a traffic incident and that at face value, it seemed like an unfortunate accident however shortly before the incident, there were reports of a suspicious man in all black nearby. MC believes that Hime-chan read this article and came to discover who the culprit was, and the real culprit found it and tried to discard it.

MC thinks back to both what happened to her mother, and to Hime-chan as well as the blog. The two people in common from then until now are Okura and Ichimura-sensei and that whoever attacked her mother 20 years ago tried to kill Hime-chan. However, what was written on the blog were incidents involving people other than MC’s mother as well. If such a person really did those things to other people then there is something extremely wrong with them. MC knows that if she doesn’t figure this out then there will be other victims. MC absolutely cannot forgive the person who stole away the futures of her mother and Hime-chan. She once again thinks of the words and actions of the two suspects and realises one piece of evidence that conclusively points at one person. She resolves herself and contacts them.

Summary: Misono’s son is afraid he’ll be short. (Tetsono, Fem Misono)

“Yuu, hold still or else this won’t be accurate. Feet flat on the floor.” Misono told her young son and pointed at the ground. He stood in front of a cartoon height chart and she tried to mark his height. When she was his age, she was small and weak so it was a relief to her to see her son growing at a healthy rate. She would measure how tall he was at each milestone in his life.

To her amusement, Yuu insisted on standing on his toes to make himself taller during the measurement. Misono rolled her eyes even as she thought the childish gesture was cute. She finally managed to draw a line above his head. She wrote a little note next to the line and said, “You’re 133 centimeters on your first day of school. You’ve grown six centimeters since the last time we measured you.”

“That’s not a lot. I want to be big like Father.” Yuu pouted. She had been shorter than most of her peers throughout her life so Misono understood his frustration. She patted his head and started to prepare him for bed. Misono took out his pajamas from the dresser. She was taken aback when he asked: “Mother, am I short because of you?”

“Pardon me?” Misono turned around. “What makes you say that?”

“I was looking through your office for something to read and I found a science book. I didn’t understand it much but Lily told me it’s about DNA. The book said I get things from you and Father. Like, I get my hair from you and my eyes from him.” He summarized what he learned from the book. “I want to be tall like Father but I got your height.”

“Biology and DNA is more complicated than that, Yuu. You haven’t stopped growing yet so we won’t know if you’ll be tall or short until you’re much older. Anyways, there’s nothing wrong with being short. Your mother is short and she gets by just fine.” Misono had been insecure about her height when she was young but she accepted herself now. She had her own strength and she was surrounded by supportive people. His words didn’t offend her. She knew how children could be tactless and blunt with their words so she wasn’t offended.

“Mother, why are you so short when everyone in our family is super tall? Grandfather, Auntie Mikuni, Uncle Lily and everyone else is tall.” His comment made Misono stiffen. Yuu didn’t know that she was born from an affair. “I want to be tall like them. I don’t know the math but there should be a good chance I’ll grow big when everyone in our family is tall. I don’t want to be short.”

“Then you should go to sleep so you can grow faster.” Her voice was sharper than she intended it to be. Misono didn’t want him to think that she was upset so she knelt in front of her son and kissed his forehead. She carried him to his bed and tucked him beneath the blankets. “Let’s not focus on your height so much. I’m sure you’ll be strong and tall when you grow up. Just like your father.”

She walked to the height chart and she carefully peeled it off the wall. “If this chart is upsetting you, we should stop measuring your height and you can focus on other things. You have school tomorrow and it’s important that you concentrate on learning. Goodnight, Yuu.”

Misono aligned the height chart next to her office door and she did her best to keep it straight as she reached for the tape next to her. While she said she would stop measuring Yuu’s height so he would feel less self conscious, she wanted to keep it for the memories. A hand was placed above hers on the paper and kept the poster in place for her. She recognized Tetsu’s warmth immediately. “Thanks, Tetsu.”

“It’s nothing. I wanted to check if you needed any help before I drive Yuu to school. It’s my sister’s turn to manage the onsen so I can come home early.” Tetsu bent down so he could kiss the top of her head. They both inherited their family’s businesses but they did their best to make time for each other and Yuu. He noticed the height chart and he asked, “Did Lily buy Yuu a new one? He gets him new gifts every week.”

Tetsu knew Misono well enough to guess that she had moved the height chart to her office so she could keep the memories. He was confused after she shook her head. Her expression was conflicted as she touched the colourful image. Misono told him about her discussion with Yuu the previous night. “He wants to be tall like you. When I was a kid, I told my father something similar. Everyone in my family is tall and blond but I was… different. I don’t want Yuu to feel like an outsider because of something he can’t control.”

Before he could respond, there was a knock on the door and they turned to see Lily. Misono saw the time and she realized that she needed to leave for her meeting soon. She rushed to her desk and gathered her folders into a suitcase. She walked to Lily in the doorway but she paused next to Tetsu. Standing on her toes, she lightly kissed his jaw.

“I love you, Tetsu.” She said and then left the office with Lily. There was a little blush on her cheeks. They had been married for years yet she still felt a little shy when they were affectionate in front of others. He followed her into the living room where she also gave Yuu a small kiss on his tiny forehead. “Father will take you to school and I’ll pick you up at three. The chef made you a special lunch with green beans so you’ll grow faster. Make sure to thank them when you get home. Bye, Yuu. See you later, Tetsu.”

“Bye.” Yuu waved to her as she left. After the door closed, he looked up to his tall father. “Can we play before I go to school? School doesn’t start for another hour. I don’t know why Mother makes me wake up so early for school.”

“School is important and Mother wants you to learn good habits when you’re still young.” He reminded Yuu. Their family was wealthy and they employed people to help run their estate. They could easily hire someone to care for Yuu while they worked but Misono insisted they be with him as much as possible. She loved the Alicein’s staff but her childhood was lonely with her parents working abroad.

Tetsu picked up his son and placed him on his shoulders as he would with Hugh. He reached up and fondly patted his head. He held him securely as he walked to the backyard. “But it’s also important to have fun. We can play hide and seek for a few rounds. First, I have to talk to you about what you said to Mother last night. You don’t want to be short like her?”

“I need to be tall and strong like Father so I can protect our family!” Yuu leaned forward to meet Tetsu’s eyes. The hand on his leg held him secure so he didn’t slip off his shoulders. Tetsu lightly nudged Yuu so he was sitting safely on his shoulder again. They walked outside and Yuu reached up to touch a branch hanging above them. “I’m going to be just like Father when I grow up and protect everyone. Uncle Hugh told me all of your adventures.”

“It’s good that you want to protect people. My strength has allowed me to save your mother a few times.” He nodded. Hugh and Lily would tell Yuu about the adventures his parents had as teenagers. Tetsu was surprised when Yuu first asked him about vampires but he decided to tell him the truth.

He placed Yuu on the ground and knelt in front of him so they were eye leveled. Tetsu gently tapped his finger against his forehead. “There are different types of strength a person can have. Do you know how many times your mother has rescued me? It must be over a thousand. She helped me study so I wouldn’t fail school and she made great strategies when fighting vampires.”

“All the superheroes in my manga are tall and strong.” Yuu said.

“The characters in your stories are fake but your Mother is a true hero.” Tetsu corrected him in a gentle voice. “She’s a stronger person than even Father. It’s like chess where the queen can move four spaces and lead the army to victory.”

“Did you have fun at school today?” Misono asked Yuu when she picked him up from his school. They sat in the car with Dodo driving. “Since Father is coming home early, I was thinking we can do something special for him. You should do your homework first though. Mother will help you if you have any trouble with them.”

“Mother, can you train me to be a superhero like you?” His request surprised her. Misono looked down at his determined eyes and she knew she hadn’t misheard him. Yuu had inherited his father’s eyes but they were more expressive. Admiration shone in his blue eyes. “I want to learn how to play chess! That’s the reason you’re so smart, right? Father said that.”

“I can teach you how to play after you do your homework.” She agreed and patted his head. Misono reasoned that Tetsu had spoken with Yuu and that led him to change his opinion. “Whether you’re strong like your father or smart like me, you’re special to us. Even if you don’t copy us exactly, we’ll love you. You can find your own strength, Yuu. Mother and Father will support you every step of the way.”

Akihiko doesn't want to let go of Yuu’s hand. Ever. He cannot believe how lucky he is. That time he randomly stopped into a convenience store instead of the cheaper market down the street during his lunch break, which was supposed to be a one time thing. Grab something quick to eat and get back to the office. But he noticed immediately when he entered, the young shop worker's eyes sticking to him like glue. 

He knew once again, he was being mistaken for a woman. Being in his thirties, being rather small and having long hair, it's embarrassing. His friends from university often take every opportunity to tease him, even going as far as calling him Aki-Chan when it's just them. So it's safe to say, it's a common occurrence, what's not a common occurrence, is a young man, realizing he is in fact, also a man, and let the same intrigued looks stay in his eyes. 

Akihiko hadn't planned to come back. The shop worker had to have been young. Too young for him. But then he told himself there were a few universities nearby…and you have to be out of highschool to work, even part time. He drew his line, If he was under 20, it was a no go. 

Then he kept going. Even after finding out the shop workers' names, Takeshi, Yuu. Even after finding out he is a nineteen years old college freshman. Somehow he convinces himself that he didn't break his one rule because the students birthday he found, is in a few weeks time. They traded Whatsapp handles. His friends teased him about robbing the cradle. He didn’t care. It's legal, they are both adults, both adults who, to Akihiko’s suspicion, were confirmed, are both in fact into men. It didn’t take long for Akihiko to shoot his shot after Yuu’s shy coming out. 

Now, on their way out to the countryside, two hours outside of Tokyo. Akihiko can finally hold this boy's hand, and he is never letting go. 

“Our stop is next. I used to come here all the time for their onsen when I was in university. Hopefully the few restaurants I liked are still open.” Akihiko certainly didn't plan on taking Yuu to Hakone for their first date, but if he wanted his date to feel comfortable, and he really, really does, He figured dinner and a movie in Tokyo could wait.

The train pulls into the older looking station. It's certainly lost its color in the years since Akihiko was a frequent visitor. The yellow paint on the curbs and the Sakura mural are barely there anymore, from over ten years of neglect. 

“I've never been to Hakone! But I've heard it's beautiful in the spring.” Yuu says, bringing Akihiko’s attention back to the present. He squeezes Yuu’s hand, it being a reminder those terrible days of his life are not his current, but the beautiful boy before him is. 

“Hakone is beautiful but you give it a run for its money.” Akihiko says, watching Yuu turn pink, like the plum blossoms threatening to bloom behind them, proof winter is on its way out. 

To Akihiko's luck, the small cafe he remembered being only a short fifteen minutes walk from the station is still there, the same older lady and her husband running it. He gets them both a seat by the window, that way they Yuu is able to take in all the new sights and people outside, while keeping them both out of the cold. 

“It's not that I particularly have a love for the english language, it's just-” Akihiko can't help but finish Yuu’s sentence, 

“Reading translated words, especially ones known as literary masterpieces, just isn't the same?” Akihiko smiles, watching Yuu blush into his cup of non-alcoholic amazake 

“My friends think it's weird I'm majoring in English, but have no plans to live abroad.” Yuu shakes his head.

“You seem like you’d have a lot of friends.” Akihiko smiles, while the last thirty minutes of talking about academics brings him nothing but joy, and a lot of nostalgia, he happily take the opportunity to change the subject

“Not really, I-” Yuu pauses. Ahikiko watches his shift uncomfortably for a moment, worried he picked a touchy subject, he picks up the menu neither of them had paid any attention to yet, besides to order drinks. 

“Have you ever had an onsen egg?” Akihiko asks, Yuu smiles and shakes his head. “Oh, you certainly must while we're here. Ill order us each one, and I remember their katsudon being really good here,”

“Oh, Actually, I’m a vegetarian- I don't eat meat.” Yuu cuts him off, and Akihiko wants to punch himself. Yuu told him that over text, when they ended up talking about why his favorite sandwich was the strawberry ones, it came up that it was because it was one of the only options without meat readily available. “Oh! But there is a tofu rice bowl that I can have!” 

With their orders squared off, Akihiko flags over  a worker ordering for them both. 

“Oh, and could I get another Amazake for my date?” Akihiko says to Mimiko-san, the older woman adorning bright red lipstick and a fur coat just as she did ten years ago.

“Oh my Aki-Chan? Is this a first date?! You don't show your face around these parts for years and show up with a handsome new man?” Akihiko blushes at his old nickname, but quickly falls back into the old dynamic he has with Mimiko. 

“You know me, always keeping my eyes open for my prince charming.” Akihiko winks, 

“Every princess deserves a prince, you know. Amazake refills on the house, and you better not wait so long between visits young man, I don't know how much longer my price will be able to work in the kitchen.” Mimiko gestures back to her husband, hunched over and walking with a cane out from the kitchen in the back, carrying a tray of food to some other customers. 

“Aki-chan?” Akihiko turns his head to look at Yuu, who just repeated his college nickname in the most teasing tone. 

“It's a long story.” Akihiko rolls his eyes, reminiscing about the past just can't seem to escape him today. 

“I've barely lived outside my apartment in tokyo., I have no stories, and we have all day.” Yuu leans forwards, His foot gracing Akihiko’s under the table as he crosses his legs, Akihiko looks at the young man before him, the brave young man who is out on a date with an older man he barely knows…He decides he can be a bit vulnerable, just this once. 

“When I would often come to Hakone, it wasn't just for the Onsen…” Akihiko leans forwards, shrinking the distance between him and Yuu, dropping his tone so as to not let anyone overhear his admission. “I came here, because nobody knew who I was.”

Akihiko hurried off of the busy train station platform, waiting for everyone to clear away as the train pulled out of the station. Only a few people were left linering, waiting for the train on the opposite side of the platform. He made sure to wait a decent amount of time before slipping his backpack off his shoulder and hurriedly ducking into the mens restroom. 

He changed fast. He had to. Slipping his wig over his hair, not yet long enough to give him his desired look, but he is growing it out. Trading his jeans and t-shirt for a long sundress with a long sleeved shirt underneath. And to top it all off, some pink tinted lip gloss and purple blush on his fair cheeks. 

Akihiki made even quicker work slipping out of the mens restroom, realizing how odd it would look to anyone who did happen to see him going in, emerging five minutes later, but as a woman. Akihiko- or Aki, as he goes by when he is crossdressing, has yet to ever build up the courage to change at home and get the train into Hakone already dressed. He is too scared of being recognized, of being caught, so he settles for his quick change in the mens room even if it runs the risk of being beat up, or caught by a stranger. He would take that anyday over his parents, or his friends finding out. 

He spent the day going into little shops, mostly womens clothes and makeup boutiques. Nothing special, the ones he sees in Tokyo everyday on his commute to class, but he can't go into them when he is Akihiko. Now as Aki he can swatch all the eyeshadows and he pleases and tries on any of the plaid,pleated, skirts he has always wanted to try since high school.

“That is amazing! You actually were brave enough to go outside…dressed as a woman! I-” Akihiko giggles at Yuu’s shocked expression, 

“The things you do when you're young and dumb, I guess.” Akihiko shrugs, looking back, knowing what he knows and having seen what he has, it was dumb, he could have gotten hurt, attacked, outed…but he doesn't regret it.

“If it made you happy, you weren't being dumb, you were being true to yourself.” Yuu smiles up over his third glass of Amazake. Akihiko wishes this were not their first date, or he would have leaned over the table and kissed him.

I'm not sure where the fish motif came from but it's one of the most common repetitions in their art. They draw fish a bit less now, but art with fish used to, and probably still does, outnumber art without fish.

The "its all connected theories" bit references chi and yuu being in shimeji simulation and people trying to piece together how their worlds are related.

Tkmiz used to have a tumblr account where they used to upload short animations. It sat dormant for a long while before they decided to delete it not long ago. Surprisingly, unlike all of their other past accounts, they decided to preserve the contents of this one and you can view them all as an extended video on their twitter.

self inserts: the black haired, rectangle glasses scientist is basically tkmiz's self insert, no matter if she's ishii in glt or shijima's sister in shimsim.

gender: related to above. tkmiz's personal projection being a girl, themes of lesbianism, and even mentions of crossdressing/wanting to be a girl have led to fans that are in-the-know to debate on what tkmiz's gender identity might be; this is also why I refer to them with they/them pronouns. It's no surprised internet trans girls love tkmiz.

irl photos: I've never seen a definitive pic of what tkmiz actually looks like, but in the past they used to semi-frequently post pics of their living space. Backyards, sunsets, what seem to be the entrance to their apartment, what they ate for dinner, etc etc. Nothing too exciting.

Gon the dog: related to above. Tkmiz used to have a dog named Gon who they would occasional post a pic of or draw. Sadly Gon is now deceased.

Suicide and wine: many of tkmiz's older works have heavy themes of suicide and alcohol abuse

Fanart: they rarely draw fanart anymore but they used to do so much more regularly. Notable references are girls und panzer, gunslinger girl, nekojiru, yume nikki, eizouken, and their oldest artworks are all touhou fanart.

Parasociality: this is in reference to tkmiz becoming a cult classic within certain circles of the internet, most notably depressed lainbrains and sad internet trans girls. Ya know, nerds like me

Artbook havers (me): a few years ago tkmiz published a physical print artbook that's now long, long out of print.

Deleted Twitter: the majority of tkmiz's works are no longer available because they were either on accounts that don't exist anymore, or tkmiz deleted them along ago from their current profile.

B2 Bomber: related above. I believe tkmiz had two different pixiv accounts, both of them long gone, and 'B2 Bomber' was the oldest. If you want to see a tiny glimpse of their second pixiv on the Wayback Machine, their ID was 1535101.

Historical art inspo: tkmiz went to university to become an art teacher before dropping out. Many of their older works are references to more well known paintings, especially the works of Gustav Klimt who seemed to be a favorite.

Irl life info: We don't know a lot about them, the enigmatic personality is by design after all, but we do know a few things. Like them being a college dropout, using the proceeds from the glt anime to take their parents to an onsen, etc etc.

2chan: much of what remains of the art and posts that tkmiz tried to nuke were preserved by members of 2chan.

Nsfw flan doujins: oh boy where's where things first get interesting. Long, long ago the first manga that tkmiz self-published were lolicon h-doujins of flandre scarlet from touhou. There were three of them, followed by a completely safe doujin called "flan wants to die" which is still easy to find.

Comiket tables: related above. If you dig hard enough, you can find the convention floor vendor lists that mention tkmiz and their booth number from when they had to sell their h-doujins by hand. I think they only sold one of the books at comiket, the other two were sold at different conventions and only ever in very limited psychical editions like most h-manga of the day.

Layer 7 -

The Shimeji Prequel: There is a very ancient comic from back before tkmiz had much artistic experience (even before the aforementioned flan doujins) that still features a girl who kind of looks like shijima (and chito, they probably began as the same oc) and another character that's identical to tkmiz's self insert/shijima's scientist sister. The comic is nsfw in nature, and proto-shijima gets eaten out by her classmate named Yoshiko who immediately dies. Because there are many references in modern shimsim to this character (or someone kind of like her) its believed she's still cannon, is the reason for Shijima locking herself in a closet for so long, and will likely be a plot revelation later in the manga. I doubt the oral sex will be mentioned though.
